"So this is that new world they found? Next time, I really need to get the Family to find a world more populated. How else am I going to prepare my feast?!"
Tenebra was standing on a mountain overlooking Arendale. Its "family" of Heartless called it to this place and so far, the Emperor of Heartless was a little disappointed. Cold air blew through Tenebra's cloak, catching it and making it billow. With It were a few Heartless, some Blue Rhapsodies and a Blizzard Lord. Its golden eyes gleamed as it glared down at the town. Tenebra smiled its manic, insane grin, its mind playing through scenarios of mayhem. Once, it was filled with people angry at the Snow Queen for invoking an eternal winter upon them. Tenebra sniffed the air, smelling their selfishness and callousness towards a woman who was different. Now that Queen had disappeared and any remnants of the winter she had visited upon the town were only up in the mountains. The town was enjoying its Spring with flowers in bloom
"Can you smell it, my brothers? The arrogance? The rampant love of themselves? Pride... that one has always been my favorite. It's so simple and yet can destroy so many lives. I never leave home without it!" Tenebra laughed as it sniffed the air again before looking towards the spot on the mountain where the Queen's Ice Palace once stood. Tenebra jumped the gap, landing right in the center of where the building had stood with a light step. "It's been a while since I really cut loose. I suppose I can afford to let it go for now. Tenebra brushed aside its hood and its hands soon became charged with Darkness. It was enough energy to sicken anyone who had strayed close enough. With one hand, he punched the ground with enough force to make it sound like the mountain exploded. Darkness crawled along the ground, veins of black energy worming its way through the snow, turning it a sickly black. Soon, much like before, a palace of ice rose up. Unlike Elsa's more beautiful home, this Palace seemed more foreboding and oppressive. Spikes of ice jutted outward menacingly and gargoyles guarded the spires, glaring evilly at any impending intruders. Tenebra then flung the second torrent of dark energy into the sky. It exploded and caused storm clouds to cover the sky and the temperature to plummet. Soon, Annendale was assailed with a blizzard of nightmarish and lethal proportions.
Tenebra looked down from the open-air throne room. It seemed to be pondering as the finishing touches were put on the Palace. "Hmm... something's not right... Oppressive Palace, check... Lethal Blizzard to gather more Hearts, check... scapego- OH RIGHT!" Tenebra turned to the center of the throne room and snapped its fingers. Darkness pooled in the center and coalesced into the form of a human girl. In fact, it looked like a silhouette of the former Snow Queen Elsa. The Imposter Heartless opened its eyes, a pure yellow. It seemed to radiate malevolence as it sat on the throne. Tenebra cackled, sure that he was going to enjoy this very much. Maybe Its Heartless Brothers weren't wrong in choosing this world.
The next day, the town would find a decree nailed to their doors. It said:
"Citizens of Arendale,
No doubt you have seen the new changes I have made to your little squalor of a hamlet. I will no longer be insulted and cast aside as a witch by you lot. You, who ostracized and even tried to kill me. Now I shall wreak a terrible vengeance on all of you and I hope that you will learn to get used to the cold. For this winter shall last for the rest of your natural lives and beyond that. There will be no respite from the cold. My new soldiers will take care of that.
In your last moments, I suggest you repent for your selfishness.
Elsa."
Not long after, the Heartless would show up and snuff out fires, destroy homes and, in general, make sure, that the citizens suffered as much of the cold as possible. As for Tenebra, he had already left things to the new Heartless in charge. There were other worlds to corrupt after all.

(Huzzah! I shall definitely keep this thread on my radar; I'm not sure when real!Elsa will return home for the first time yet, so I don't want to jump right in just in case it does retcon something in the plot I have coming up. I will be here to help deal with Anti-Elsa, though~ Just not sure when. Brilliant post, Mordy!)

Clothed in a stolen cloak and armed with only a second sword--as his original had been shattered--the thirteenth son milled among the once again worried citizens. No one looked at him, noticed him, or acknowledge him for he had his hood up. Normally, it would drive him insane to be so disregarded. For now, it played to his benefit.
He looked back down at the crumpled piece of paper.
This all sounded entirely too bold for that seemingly-cowardly, distant woman Hans recalled. Rather than fighting like a brute for her freedom back then, she allowed herself to become a martyr for her people. While he did respect that much about Elsa, this all seemed wrong for her. Not wrong for her to do, mind you, as what was good for a queen and what was right for a queen were one and the same. No, this was not in character for what he had observed of her.
But he kept his mouth shut because he had even less consistency than Elsa even on her worst day.
He was about to see about returning to the Southern Isles and leave the people who en masse seemed to be developing barb wire rash to their fates (they weren’t his people, after all) when he spotted them spilling into the square and wreaking havoc upon the city. He knew them. Their black mass had been what spirited him away from his homeland birthplace. These “goblins” were different, though, then those he had seen the first time.
Hand on the hilt of his sword, Hans observed. ”... oh,” he whispered, heart plunging into his gut as he saw them assaulting a building and smothering fires. He was going to have to deal with this, wasn’t he? Drawing his sword, Hans stepped forward, ready to take on the oddities.
”This is an improper raid! Royal assault upon the citizenry is uncalled for without formal charge!” Was he playing officer? Oh, yes; yes he was. And these little “goblins” were oh-so-guilty. Shame he didn’t have a proper idea of what the Heartless really were.

(Thank you Tenebra for starting this and thank you Hans for joining. Let’s all have fun, hmmm? >=) ) Up in the mountains that rested high above the castle town, a great evil brewed within the place as a strange and powerful Heartless unleashed his power upon the otherwise peaceful land and cause the misery that had already been plaguing the land to intensify. As the dark castle of ice rose on the high mountain tops and the sky in the area darkened, Kristoff who had been in the castle town for three days now could not help, but to look towards his home in the distance as the forbidding signs began to show ithemselves. He didn't know what this second wave of dark clouds meant. Didn't understand what the strange queasiness in his stomachw as he stood on the roof of the house that was his temporary home since he had come to town that fateful day. He continued to watch the strange skies with unease and a sense of forboding invaded every pore of his body. Kristoff had come down from the mountains three days ago having to fight through blizzards and those strange black shadows that occassionally popped up; however, after reaching town things had seemed to settle down. The blizzards had calmed, but the strange coldness and light snow stayed. The strange and unexpected change in weather had been unsettling enough, but finding out that both Elsa and Anna were gone had driven the stake right into Kristoff's heart. What was happening to his world? Why after everything had settled were things coming undone? The strange weather, the shadows, and now this new threat that was announced with s rumble of what could only be an explosion somewhere deep within the mountains. As continued to watch the mountain, Kristoff hoped the tribe was okay. He would have to go back to the mountain in time to check on them, but for now he had problems right before him . With no queen or princess in charge, there was still order in town, but there was no one to really command or tell the soliders what to do when things began to fall apart. Sure, Kristoff had managed to get a light plan into action the first time around to face off the dark wave and even when he came back to town, he managed to get a system of aid and defense into play to help the people suffering against the cold and aid in fixing the damages the previous waves of darkness had caused. Still, he was no king....and yet the people looked to him as if he was one. It was almost as they expected him to do this sort of thing even when he did not know how to. Maybe they believed he was something underneath his humble an act. A prince in disguise? A knight in shining armor? Something special. After all, he was the man who had his eye on Princess Anna and due to her sister allowing them to be together, surely he had some special power about him. Surely, he could handle running the kingdom, but truth be told, Kristoff was very lost on what to do and instead ran off of instincts to keep everyone more or less safe. Kristoff was no king. He was just a kid from the mountain that had barely gotten to where he was today due to wit and compassion for others, but was that really enough to guide these people who turned to him? To protect them? The answer to that question did not come to the blonde so easily as turned his attention from the mountain and slid off the roof returning to the ground where Sven waited for him. He too was watching the mountains with worry and when he heard the young man land, the reindeer looked over at him giving him a light greeting in turn, but the worry flowing through the creature was very apparent. With a light sigh, Kristoff reached up an gently patted the reindeer's back as his eyes returned to the mountain, the darkness surrounding it was becoming thicker by the second. Sven looked back over at him uneasily and as they made eye contact Kristoff nodded lightly. “This doesn’t look good, Kristoff. What do you think we should do?” Kristoff said doing a voice over for the worried expression his friend was giving him as he took a few steps forward before stopping and looking back up at that forbidding mountain peak as he released a second sigh. "Yeah. I don't like it either buddy," he began in his normal voice. "So we best be prepared for anything. Come on. Let's try to get some sleep," he finished before reluctantly turning his back on the scene behind him and entering the house before him. **
When Kristoff had woken up early the next day, he was very glad that he was not afraid to share the inside of a home with an animal. For you see, if he had acted like a normal person and left Sven outside for the night, the young man was very sure his best friend would not be still alive and well as he was now. He wasn't sure where or when the new blizzard had popped up, but somehow very quietly over night, the bitting coldness had rolled in with heavy snows that were irregular to Ardenelle, which was supposed to be in the Spring season. On top of the strange weather, there was the unnatural cold that greeted Kristoff when he had rolled out of bed not exactly well rested, but ready for another day of the unpredictable. As he dressed and did what he could to scrounge up some form of breakfast for Sven and himself since supplies were getting lower and lower by the day, Kristoff drifted to the window taking note of the heavy snow outside. It almost looked like it was blocking up everything…meaning he’d have to fight just to get out of the house. Great...He was so looking forward to that. Shaking his head, Kristoff was about to go back to finding food when something nailed to the house across from him caught his attention. Moving closer to the window, he narrowed his eyes at the item flapping in the wind, but he couldn’t make out what it was or what it had printed upon it, Curious, Kristoff quickly found his boots before bundlng up as much as he could before strapping his pick ax to his belt. Once he was prepared to fact the cold, Kristoff went over to the window and wrestled it opened before turning only slightly away from the arctic blast that came rushing in once the window was up. Even Sven who was built to survive in the cold took a step back away from the biting cold, looking reluctant to go outside. Pausing for a bit Kristoff, gestured for Sven to come with him. “Come on. It's just a little bit of snow,” Kristoff offered light-heartedly despite the chill sinking into his thick gloves. Sven gave him a look of rebellion. “Nuh-uh. I am staying right here. You can go out there and freeze for whatever has caught your interest, but not me. Nope. Not happening,” Kristoff did a voice over for the reindeer who was nodding in agreement with the words before plopping down on the ground in a sitting position not willing to move. With a light chuckle, Kristoff shook his head as he turned back to the window and began to make his way carefully over the slippery edge. “Fine. Fine. Leave me to do all the hard work and dangerous work,” he told the reindeer as he slid out over the window sill and out into the cold streets not bothering to close the window. He knew better than to do that. Reluctant or not, Sven would eventually come out of the house and he did not want the reindeer injuring himself in such an attempt. In any case for the moment, Kristoff was on his own as he looked around at the streets covered in thick snow and ice. They were eeriely quiet and empty this morning. A bad sign indeed; however, Kristoff did what he could to not let this bother him. Shivering a bit as he pulled his jacket closer to him, Kristoff made his way to the flapping object on the other house and reached out for it, finding it to be a strange piece of paper. Snatching it off the strange black nail it was on, Kristoff held the paper in both gloved hands as the wind blew and ruffled it. Narrowing his eyes against the sting of the cold, he read the paper silently to himself. This is what it said: “Citizens of Arendelle:
No doubt you have seen the new changes I have made to your little squalor of a hamlet. I will no longer be insulted and cast aside as a witch by you lot. You, who ostracized and even tried to kill me. Now I shall wreak a terrible vengeance on all of you and I hope that you will learn to get used to the cold. For this winter shall last for the rest of your natural lives and beyond that. There will be no respite from the cold. My new soldiers will take care of that. In your last moments, I suggest you repent for your selfishness.
~ Elsa.”“Elsa?” Kristoff repeated softly his mind numbed more so from the words on the paper than by cold. The young man barely noticed Sven had gotten out of the window and had come over to him and was now looking at the paper and then to him for an explanation as he saw the concerned frown cross the blonde’s face. Elsa….that was the Queen of Arendelle who was supposedly missing along with Anna. While it was true that in the past she had indeed run away from her kingdom and isolated herself on the mountain and accidently caused an eternal winter when she let her powers and emotions go out of control, the calmer woman was never really threatening in Kristoff’s eyes. Sure, she was a bit misunderstood and sure some people were still paranoid of her, but still even so she had always shown herself to be kind and strong.
Never did she try and take revenge upon anyone no matter what they had done or said. So what was this? Kristoff frown only deepened as he balled the paper up in a gloved hand, a bit agitated with the situation. If this was someone’s idea of a joke or even just a way to stir up trouble while the queen and princess were missing…well he was certainly going to put the culprits in their place. This was uncalled for and unneeded, especially in this hard time.... but if this wasn’t a joke and Elsa really did write this, then Kristoff had to know why.
And ironically enough, he had a pretty good idea where Elsa might’ve gone.
The young man turned to the mountains once more watching the swirling clouds that were there.
“Something is wrong with everything around and while I know I should not leave town. We are going—“ Kristoff was midway through explaining the plan to Sven when a scream followed by other very odd noises reached his ears.
Taking one look at Sven, Kristoff was rushing out into the open only to find that the town was now invaded with those strange black shadows again, this time in various shapes and sizes! And what were they doing? They were destroying the homes, putting out fires, and doing everything else to make the miserable people of the castle town even more miserable! As shocked turned to rage, Kristoff grabbed the pick ax from his belt and without mercy moved towards the nearest shadow trying to take firewood from an elderly man. Without saying much the blonde brought the ax down on the beast, slicing it in half with his might. As the creature disappeared into smoke once more, the old man thanked Kristoff for the help before grabbing his wood and dragging it inside away from the chaos that was taking over the town. Not stopping to see if the guy actually locked the door once he was finally inside, Kristoff moved from his spot as he spotted another group of shadows blowing icy breaths on fires carefully built by the freezing people. Doing what he could while trying not to get hit by the icy blasts, Kristoff let his instincts guide him on where to lay his ax or where to place his foot to avoid both slipping and getting hit by Sven who had joined the fight to protect the people. He wasn’t sure how long this battle lasted, but in time the young man was able to get some breathing room as the creatures temporarily retreated; however, Kristoff knew better than to call this a victory The little beasts would be back....in time. Breathing heavily from the fight with hardly any sweat upon thanks to the cold, Kristoff took a few steps back in the empty square as his eyes scanning the rooftops and streets for trouble. As he was moving, an unexpected crashing sound came from his left causing the young man to look that way. As he did this he saw a a large bodied heartless crashing through the side of a house as it slid its way onto the scene at amazing speeds. Kristoff tried to get out of the way and even Sven tried to stop that mass by kicking a heavy wooden box at the whizzing thing; however, the creature did not stop or slowed, so within seconds it was ramming right into Kristoff forcing him to back peddle as he kept his ax between himself and that creature’s small yet pointy hat. Being slammed against the side of a house behind him it was a miracle the man was able to 1: not be impaled by the hat or his own weapon and 2: was able to hold his own against the creature that was steadily trying to push him further into the house. Hearing the wall cracking under the pressure, Kristoff did his best to push the thing off, but it was too strong even for him, but regardless of this the young man did not give up the fight. After all, he wasn’t exactly alone here. As the human began to lose the struggle against the beast, the reindeer came to the rescue. With antlers pointed down, Sven rushed the thing from the side and crashed into it with so much force that for a second Kristoff was worried the deer had hurt himself with the ram; however, as the pressure upon him was lifted thanks to Sven literally lifting and tossing that big beast up and over himself. Kristoff found he had nothing to worry about as the large shadow hit the ground with a ground shaking thud and an angry Sven turned to face off with it as it got up. Recovering from the crushing blow, Kristoff pushed off the wall he was leaning against as more of the shadows came in from the other side. “I owe you one,” Kristoff told his friend before taking a position at the reindeer’s back. Together, they managed to clear to a path through the second wave. When they got a chance, the pair moved to a more empty area; however, as they did this, a very familiar voice stopped Kristoff in his tracks. ”This is an improper raid! Royal assault upon the citizenry is uncalled for without formal charge!”That voice…that rage inducing voice. It belonged to Prince Hans of the Southern Isles! But where was --? Aha! There… As Kristoff light brown eyes landed on that snake of a man hiding under a rather unfitting cloak for his class, the mountain man wanted nothing more than to tell the other to get lost and toss him out of town; however….considering the number of people that were in town that could actually fight, Kristoff supposed this guy was added help….if he could trust the guy that is, but in this situation, he couldn’t exactly be the judge. If the guy was pretending to help, then that was fine by him. Until he slipped up, Kristoff could wait for clobbering the guy for everything he had done to Anna and Elsa. Balling his fists as his mind rebelled against the idea of teaming up with this guy, Kristoff let his Heart guide him as he worked his way through the shadows with Sven aiding him. When an ant like shadow tried to make an attack on the chattering cloaked prince’s back, the other man would hear a distinct chink as something metal hit the ground ending another shadow's life and if he were to turn to see what caused the sound, he would find the form of the blonde owner of that ax turning to face more shadows pouring in from behind him keeping his back to a man that was a potential enemy. Trusting him not to stab him in the back... In any case, the only greeting meeting the prince would hear was, “Are you sure you are ready for this, Your Majesty?” the words were calm and cool. The sort of words that did not hide distrust and yet at the same time held no malice towards the other. It was a sign that Kristoff would help Hans as long as he in turn did nothing to prove he’d have to turn his ax against him. After a short pause for an answer should any be given, the shadows that had surrounded Hans, Sven, and Kristoff would surge forward and attempt to crush the trio as a unit. **
Elsewehere…. In her high mountain home created by the Heartless Emperor Tenebra, the young woman with skin as white as snow and eyes that were a deep tiger’s gold sat upon her throne as still as a statue. The only movement was coming from her black clothing that shifted and swayed about her like black ink. The woman looked like a perfect replica of Queen Elsa, the only true differences between them being the eyes, the dressware and pale skin; however, on a whim those minor difference could be changed to make it appear this being was indeed the queen, but for now the Heartless Queen did not bother herself with such things as her senses told her everything that was going on beyond her icy walls and past the collection of frozen creatures and humans that had dared to try to face her in their attempts to end winter. The Queen could feel her servants being slaughtered as they obeyed the master’s will and attacked the town below her home. She could feel the power of the storm assualting the land growing the more she became upset with the loss of her servants. As sadness and rage flooded her, so to did the blizzards become stronger and the ice thicker and more deadlier than before; however, this Heartless did not care. She would strike down all and harvest wonderful Hearts for her master, making herself and him stronger. In her mind there was only one fate for this small barely known world and that was for it to sink into Darkness and be forgotten by all. There was nothing really worth saving here. Nothing except one dark Heart that could be sensed in the town below. This Heart was not strong like a warrior’s but it did not need to be for the Queen to take interest in it. She wanted that Heart for the Darkness. She wanted to use it to help further the Heartless’s own goal, but to capture it she first had to set the right trap and deal. One that would appeal to this strange, strange heart, but to do that she needed him with her and against the Light Hearts that was standing her master’s way. Yes….yes…she needed that Heart to belong to her; however, she dared not approach the Dark Heart herself. No. She would send a messenger instead. Barely shifting her head, the Dark Ice Queen Elsa would lift one thin hand summoning from the darkness a heartless dressed in the black and white uniform of a jester. Giving it a silent command, the Queen would dismiss the lower ranking with a wave of her hand, getting a laughter of pleasure from the creature as it vanished into a Corridor to begin setting the board for his queen’s “most honored guest” that she was eager to see arrive in her castle.

It was by Koa's will and hers alone that he was sent to this freezing place all of a sudden but it was her protection that kept him warm, kept him safe and sound. But this was one of those other worlds that Nesra had talked about. The ones he was supposed to protect along with his. Agon was not nearly as cold as this as James swore and wished for a coat. The only thing keeping him from freezing to death was Koa and she was keeping him as warm as she could in this unnatural cold. But that's when he saw it, dark creatures invading a nearby town and from the looks of it they had no one to protect them. James was furious at what he saw. The creatures putting out torches, stealing food, and trying to kill all in sight. It was then James saw a few locals doing pretty well against the creatures and a moose? That was not the strangest thing he saw before but it seemed to be helping everyone like the two locals. James decided to take action as he climbed up a steep hill of snow then jumped to a roof nearby to get an overhead look. James could see the destruction and he was definitely needed here. Koa willed him here and he would not deny that these people needed help. James could see the vast amount of creatures in there and sighed as he knew he had to summon Koa for this one. Even though that would give away that he has a power unlike many of these people he has to help them. James slid down the back of the snow hill and ran into the town. It was chaos in there and not many could do anything to stop it. James summoned a small ball of light in his hand then one in the other and combined the two as they lifted into the air and became Koa' The Goddess of Light and for once for all to see. (Goddess of Light Koa: Radiant Judgment: Koa ascends to the sky then sends light blue beams of light from her wings that hit the ground around the enemy as this happens she then throws her lance covered in the sacred flame right down the middle. She is then dismissed and does not remain out on the battlefield. No cooldown. Can only be used once per thread.) As soon as she was summoned she gave off a radiant light that filled the air. Soon she spoke to them "Do not be afraid for the Light will protect you." Then she cast down the light blue beams onto the dark creatures destroying almost all of them. Then she threw down her lance to finish the job and in a bright flash of light they were all gone, for now at least. Before she left she spoke once more hoping to make them at ease. "Always believe in yourself and you will be able to protect those around you." Koa' vanished and with it James spoke up. "Everyone I was told their are dark forces at work here! So in order to keep these things out we will use this!" James held out a golden lantern with a flame as white as snow in it. "This flame drives out dark beings like the ones Koa' took out earlier but the flame itself will only last a few hours. So I believe we form a group of who will stay here and guard the townsfolk and another of who will go to investigate what is really going on here." James probably wasn't going to get their trust right away but he hoped he could at least get their support. "Everyone bring your torches or lanterns here and do not worry about it being put out as it can't be put out and won't spread if it were to light on something like say a tree. This is a holy flame but will only last us for a few hours at best. So I say we get to bottom of this before our little barrier goes away. Is anyone willing to help?"

Riku stood atop a smaller mountain, a cloak and shroud affixed on his shoulders to block some of the freezing wind that battered the mountainside. The aura of Darkness was almost overpowering, two separate auras catching Riku's attention.
I can't help but think I've gotten myself into a mess... Up on that mountain range is a terrific Darkness... and no sooner do I feel the Darkness... there's a terrific Light at the foot of the mountain...
He jumped onto the slope below, making his way down the mountain he stood on, heading towards the source of Light.
To fight a terrific Darkness, one would need to oppose it with a terrific Light.
---------------------------------------
He arrived to find a small town in the throes of battle, Heartless seeming to billow out from every crevice and shadow. His Keyblade appeared, and he entered the fray almost immediately, fighting the Heartless from under his shroud until the beasts dispersed, the terrific source of Light now evident.
Another Keybearer.
He banished the Keyblade, staying somewhat out of sight as the young Keybearer spoke. Stepping forward, he pulled down the shroud, making his presence known to the others as he approached.
"The source of all of this, the storm and all, is on that mountain to the North... If we can get a guide and a couple of good sword-arms, your Keyblade-" he paused, summoning the Way to the Dawn "And mine could stop this Darkness before it gets any worse." he looked from the Keybearer, to the two men, then up to the mountain. "I only hope we aren't too late." he muttered.

(Sorry for the delay. Trying to catch up after a hectic week. Here we go.) The Heartless Jester made his way to town, but was highly disappointed as he watched the chaos from the shadows of an inn’s roof. While the creature’s pure gold eyes glittered with joy at the suffering that was being unleashed upon the people of this world, it was disappointed to see that the dark Heart that had been ready to fight the lower ranking Heartless mysteriously disappeared from the scene leaving the blonde and his reindeer alone to fight the Heartless. As the creature pouted lightly as its bells jingled slightly when it slumped against the chimney of the roof it was on, the creature kept its eye on the blonde and his animal friend. They were both strong willed Light Hearts unlike the weaker fools that were the civilians; however, strong hearted or not, the facts still remained that the pair was out numbered. See at least with the dark Heart they might’ve stood a chance. With three fighters watching each other’s back, the group could’ve taken the masses out in equal sections without much trouble. Sure, the defeat wouldn’t last for long, but at least the heroes would have more wiggle room than they did now. Smirking evilly, the jester slid to the edge of the icy roof and watched with anticipation as the blonde and the creature did what they could to survive the assault; however, the Heartlesss that attacked were too much for them. Within seconds, the blonde who had been left by his animal friend was buried under a pile of the lower ranking Heartless that sought to nab that still beating Heart from his chest. Oh yes, the playing field did look like it was in the favor of the Heartless. Practically drooling with anticipation, the jester held its breath as it waited for the final blow to be struck upon the struggling man. The blow that would make their Heart belong to them. It could sense the time drawing near, but then….then she came. In a whirl of harsh light and sound, the Heartless were forced to scatter as some lady made of pure Light appeared on the field. Growling and hissing from the pain the Light caused, the jester shrunk away from this new threat as she opened her wings and began to rain strange beams of light upon everything. As the beams fell to the ground, the jester hissed in pain as it felt the lower ranking Heartless being slaughtered by the Light that pierced them. It could hear their screams and pleas for help, but being a being of Darkness himself the jester could not move to aid them. His power was not as great as the Queen’s or the one who ruled over her. He could not swallow this powerful Light that continued its assault. As the beams continued to rain down that cursed Light being raised her weapon that glowed with a painful flame high into the air and then swinging her arm forward, the being threw her powerful weapon right into the middle of all that raining light. In a huge explosion, the weaker Heartless were evaporated by the powerful Light. Even the jester who was further away from the blast zone felt the heat of that Light as it hopped over the opposite edge of the building and flopped on the ground just in time to use the building as a shield for the light that filled the area. Disoriented and sore, the jester picked itself up from the ground and shook its head to stop the world from spinning around it. When it had focus again, the creature sensed that most of the forces that were attacking had been destroyed and those that were lucky to survive were not doing too well. They couldn’t continue their work here. For now they would have to retreat. Knowing full well that the Queen would hate this news, the jester also knew he would probably be punished horribly for not only failing to capture the Dark Heart, but also failing to get the Queen tons of Hearts to feed upon. Oh yes, he’d be punished indeed, but perhaps if he could survive, he could make it up to her. So letting the Light win this round, the Heartless Jester gave the mental signal to the surviving heartless to retreat causing all the straggling Heartless to back away from their prey as they vanished into Corridors to go back home for now. When he was sure most were gone, the jester followed suit and vanished to give his dismal report to the Queen. ** This was bad. Really bad. As Kristoff and Sven stood back to back with Hans of all people, the dark shadows that had been plaguing the land ever since Queen Elsa and Princess Anna’s disappearance were no longer simply teasing the people with minor torment. No. Now they were just flat out attacking in great numbers. The increase in suffering was bothersome and heavy to deal with, but the weight that Kristoff felt now was even more heavier since the people automatically voted him leader in the two royals’ absences. It was ridiculous really and to be quite frank, Kristoff couldn’t believe the situation himself, but at least having a bit of power got the guards to obey and actually do what they were supposed to do instead of fleeing at the first sign of danger. It was true…the guards were strong and smart, but they were still just men and when men were terrified without someone barking orders at them and telling them to hold their ground in the face of unbelievable odds most men simply ran away as the natural and selfish human instinct to survive rather than save another overran the even deeper instincts to protect. Kristoff wasn’t sure if it was simply the way he was brought up by the trolls or something else that made him want to do the right thing even if everyone else was running for the mountains and nearest hole to hide out in, but whatever it was that made him dumb enough to face all odds to protect people he barely knew, the young man knew without a doubt that he couldn’t allow an army of shadows to run amok in the lands, especially while the true leaders were gone. He didn’t want to exactly have to explain to Ann nor her even more intimidating older sister Elsa why it was Arendelle was in such a messy state when clearly they had created peace within the place. On top of that, it would be even more embarrassing trying to make excuses for the very guards. So with a greater threat than “his majesty” before them, Kristoff was willing to be allies with the Prince Hans until he proved he deserved a second beating; however, as those shadows began to surge forward, even that plan was shattered. And why was that? Why did Kristoff cease to be allies with Hans before the prince could even prove he was worth aiding? The reason was simple. The guy vanished! Yep. that’s right. Prince Hans simply vanished into thin air leaving Kristoff and Sven to fight off the swarm that had decided to attack as one. And you know what? Two against a swarm is not an easy thing to maintain. Oh no. Those shadows got in a few good hits thanks to the mild confusion the disappearance had caused, but the confusion was quickly submerged under anger as Kristoff saw the disappearance as Hans somehow knowing a secret techinque to abandon them in a tight spot. Sure, it was illogical, but in Kristoff’s world magic wasn’t exactly fairytale stories either. The Queen herself wielded ice powers and the trolls he grew up amongst were powerful spell casters themselves. While he wasn’t sure how the treacherous prince learned how to vanish, the fact still remained that he and Sven were alone against the swarm, so using that pent up anger, the young man did his best to beat back the shadows pressing in.
Even Sven was fighting harder than usually seemingly just as outraged at the little act as he was. Well at least Kristoff was not alone in the hate club when it came to Hans. The fact was kind of comforting and only gave Kristoff more strength to fight on. On and on the two friends fought until they really could not fight no more. Exhausted, bruised, and cut from the heavy beating, Kristoff’s light brown eyes drifted from one shadow to the next as they shifted here and there to make their next move. Breathing heavily within the icy air, Kristoff took a step back as he kept his beat up pick ax before him as he held it in both hands that were steadily becoming numb in this unnatural cold. Behind him Sven was barely hanging on himself. The poor guy’s energy was pretty much spent thanks to the other waves that had come before. They weren’t going to win at this rate unless something miraculous happened…. Tch! was all Kristoff thought as he tensed as one of the shadows began to slither forward to make another attack. It was then that a small child that had somehow ended up away from her parents stumbled into the small ring Sven and himself were in. Scared, cold, and crying the little girl was clutching her teddy bear close to her chest as she looked around at the shadows clearly wanting to get away, but having no escape. As the shadow slinking forward saw her, it tried to make a quick dash for her, but it was quickly stopped as it met the tip of Kristoff’s pick ax as he moved between the pair and blocked off the shadow’s path to the child. Seriously, if someone hadn’t put their foot down (after a bit of convincing from a friend), they would’ve all been crushed under this new wave hours ago! It was definitely a sad state of affairs at this point, but Kristoff and Sven were determined to their best. Behind him, Sven had moved to child’s side doing what he could to comfort the crying child. She seemed to appreciate the comfort as she buried her small face into the reindeer’s lowered head; however, the small peace was not about to last as the agitated shadows began to move in once more. “Get out of here, Sven,” Kristoff told his friend in a stern voice as he took another step back towards the pair. The reindeer of course did not like this idea, but as Kristoff glanced back at him and the pair’s eyes met, the reindeer understood that his friend wanted to protect the child, but in order to do that one of them had to be left as bait to distract the swarm that was slowly, but surely closing in… Unfortunately, since the blonde had chosen him and the child over himself, that meant he’d have to abandon his human friend. Reluctantly submitting to the command, Sven scooped the child up and manage to toss her on his back, then when that swarm launched itself forward, he lowered his head and begun to plow through the dark sea to get the kid to safety. While those two did what they could to escape, Kristoff called upon his last bit of energy to put up one last fight against the shadows that swarmed in. He fought, but the battle was already decided before he even begun. The swarm increased and in time, the young man was buried under the scratching, biting, wiggling mass that was attempting to shred him bit by bit, but even still he fought on not giving up until the end. That was simply his way. Then when the swarm had managed to break his weapon and was beginning to press even harder down upon him, Kristoff thought that death would surely claim him, but he was kind of okay with that. Sure…he wouldn’t be able to see Anna again or even help her or her sister wherever they may be, but it didn’t matter as long as Sven lived. He was sure his friend would take up the burden and go to their aid. It was sad having to leave it all up to the reindeer, but at the same time there was still hope. And hope was all that mattered in these dark times. Kristoff had pretty much accepted death as the swarm continued to press in and for one brief second appeared that they would indeed defeat him, but then it happened. That miracle he had been wishing for earlier. He wasn’t sure where the powerful woman had come from or why she had so much power and could fill up the sky with such radiance, but the beautiful woman that could only be described as a goddess had come to give the suffering and scared people some encouragement as she spread her wings and unleashed her light upon the area, effectively weakening and destroying the swarm that was winning until this point. Disoriented, Kristoff wasn’t sure exactly what was happening or why, but he had to admit he was very glad for the divine help. As the shadows were eradicated and forced back, Kristoff sat up from the cold ground shaking his throbbing head lightly to clear it as all around things seemed to somewhat stop as the goddess gave some more words of encouragement and then disappeared. Blinking a bit, Kristoff looked around finding the people still looking at the sky stunned as the remaining threats retreated to lick their wounds; however, the blonde was sure that they would come back…still at least now they had time to clean up and hopefully replan before that happened again. They had the goddess to thank for that, but…where had she come from? A bit baffled, Kristoff remained in a daze until Sven came running over and licked him on the cheek before nearly knocking him over him as he nuzzled into him clearly overjoyed to see him alive. Despite being sore and injured from the previous battles, Kristoff reached up and patted the side of Sven’s face lovingly not minding the open affection. “I am glad to see you too, buddy,” he said before picking himself up with a bit of help from his friend. Steadying himself on his feet once more, Kristoff leaned slightly against Seven as he held onto one of his friend’s antlers for a bit of support as he scanned the area finding the little girl from earlier safe with her mother. Seeing the two together, he smiled slightly relieved the kid was safe before his eyes shifted from the happy scene as an unfamiliar voice drew his and the people’s attention to the stranger that was now in their town. At first, Kristoff watched the blonde with a blank expression as he careful took in the guy’s odd clothing and even stranger way of behaving. While it was true Kristoff did not know everything about the world, he did know every face in Arendelle from the castle, the town, all the way up through the icy mountain regions…and this guy was not a face he remembered seeing. That alone caused the blonde to frown lightly as he listened to what the guy said…and as he listened, the frown only deepened. Okay…so the goddess thing or whatever you wanted to call it was indeed a miracle and even though the appearance and timeliness of said goddess was indeed spot on, Kristoff could easily write the unbelievable event off as divine intervention. No problem there. What he could not write off or ignore was what this kid was saying. First off, the guy became highly suspicious when he said he was told that dark forces were working within the land. Who had told him such information? And why when it was almost too late did this guy suddenly appear and with a supposed solution to their problem? Sure, there was the off chance that he could’ve been on his way over here from another kingdom, but even that was off. After all, there had been no messengers that had gotten very far when they were sent to plead for help from neighbors, so no message about the situation could’ve possibly reached other ears (unless someone’s report was off). So if no one heard of the crisis, then how would this guy know anything? Kristoff wracked his brain for an answer, but nothing logical came up. There were too many obstacles in the way to make the situation make sense. And speaking of sense what about this “solution” the guy had, huh? He was saying a lantern with some strange white flame could help them keep the shadows out? That seemed a bit ridiculous even with a time limit to it…. Okay...and then what about this other kid? The one with white hair. Much like the younger blonde in all the chaos Kristoff had not noticed this guy come into town either and if he hadn't stepped forward shortly after the blonde had spoken about his solution to the problem, the older man probably would not have noticed him at all. It was quite strange how these unfamiliar faces were just suddenly popping up. Just as it was very strange that Hans had suddenly vanished. The whole situation was mind numbng and giving Kristoff a light headache. A headache that was only increasing as the white haired boy began to speak. He was sayng that the source of the problem was up in the mountains and he was requesting pretty much the same thing as the other stranger: leave the people and take a group up to the mountain to stop what? The Darkness? Kristoff wasn't too sure what that meant, but he didn't like the sounds of it either. Still, this new kid's "solution" was no better than the first one's. While one spoke of mystical flames this one was talking about keyblades? Kristoff's frown deepened at the word. Even when the white haired kid showed him what this keyblade was, the mountain man wasn't buying it at all. To him, the strange item that was summoned looked more like a decorative piece than an actual weapon... Yeah…this was indeed crazy talk, but yet as Kristoff look from the kids to his friend, he could see the reindeer was actually considering the their words! A bit taken back by the look, the human and the reindeer had a mental chat as they stared at one another for a few seconds and then Kristoff giving into his friend’s suggestion to simply give the pair a chance, he glanced back at them as they finished speaking. The townspeople were shifting about and muttering nervously to each other and while the pair’s plan of action was indeed something Kristoff considered earlier and could agree upon, there was still the problem of depending on some mystical flame or what not to protect the town. And what of the keyblades? How couldhe be certain it was actually a weapon? He had no proof that any of what either claimed was true and since no one else was stepping up to the plate to face them, Kristoff knew he had to. Stepping forward slightly so that he was effective between half of the worried townspeople and the two newcomers, the heavier set blonde, folded his arms and narrowed his eyes at the pair as he observed them not hiding the distrust he had for the strangers as his light brown eyes looked them up and down. He knew he didn’t have time to aruge, but at the same time, he couldn’t simply let some strangers barge in here and do what they pleased when others were at stake. “Forgive us for not jumping on the wagon here and helping you out, but you have to understand your appearance here is quite strange as are your words,” Kristoff began in calm even tones that were neither hostile nor friendly as he watched the two young men as he took a cautious step forward and continued. His eyes locked on the blonde first. “You say you were told of our troubles? By whom? And how when no one has been able to get far in this chaos to deliver such a message? Also, you claim that the flame you have will protect the people and you," his eyes shifted to the white haired young man. "You say that the, erm...keyblade was it? Can help us out?" he shook his head at this, his frown remaining on his face. "I don't see how that is possible. From here, it just looks like a piece decoration. On top of this, both of you are suggesting we form a party and leave to hunt the problem down which is somewhere in the blizzard infested mountans while leaving said flame to protect the people? Now why would we agree to something like that? There is no proof your flame or key works and no proof you aren’t with the shadows, so…convince me,” Kristoff finished keeping himself firmly planted in his spot as he watched the other. Kristoff, Sven, nor any of the townspeople had truly seen the blonde summon the goddess that had saved them and…and while some connected the name Koa to the woman due to the way the guy described the events that had occurred that did nothing to gain their trust or support. As for the keyblade kid, no one was exactly standing around to fully witness the power of the weapon in the chaos. In fact, most of the townfolk were nodding in agreement with Kristoff as they stayed away from the strange kids, watching them and Kristoff cautiously. They weren’t going to move to help unless Kristoff made the first move and Kristoff wasn’t going to budge unless the kids could convince him that they was not a threat and that their solutions could work. It was a tough spot for the pair to be in, but Kristoff was not one for believing what he heard. It took a lot of action to gain the trust from the stubborn mountain man. ** Meanwhile up in the mountains in that dark ice castle, the Heartless jester bowed before his queen and gave his report. As soon as the words hit her ears, the Queen’s golden eyes narrowed as a snarl of rage was unleashed as she dug her fingers into the icy throne. Her castle creaked and groan as it froze over more and became even more dangerous looking as new spikes and structures were added to the already imposing castle. With a screech that could be heard all the way down to the town, the moody skies above became darker as the snow stopped falling and the air became still and quiet. It was a sign something was coming….and soon.
The change made the people nervous and caused Sven to look from his stubborn friend to the kid. He was giving the kid a pleading look almost as if the animal was praying he had something to convince Kristoff that he was indeed trying to help and did not mean any harm. The reindeer really did want to trust the newcomer, but at the same time he understood that humans weren’t as attuned to intentions as animals were...and when scared or nervous humans were not the easiest to convince when it came to doing the right thing or trusting their Hearts. _______________________________________________
Countdown: 1 post until the next attack from Heartless. Work fast to convince Kristoff and the people, gents.

James was expecting this type of reaction but what he hadn't expected was the another boy approaching from behind and talking about key blades. James never summoned a keyblade out did he think he had one? But right now that didn't matter the people weren't easily trusting which made sense really considering he sort of gave himself away. James would try to calm them all down by explaining to them without giving away to much about his world what Koa' is and how everything works.
James was scared of what they would say. They would probably call him a freak of nature or something.
"My name is James Cabuelo I came from a country pretty far from here. When i was very young they said i was touched by a goddess. Though i have helped many people with it I have scared many of my friends and family with my new power. I'm sorry if i intruded in any way but due to this power it helps me talk to the one called Koa' and use her power. Though most of you know her as the goddess of light that destroyed those creatures earlier."
James was making most of this story up but the real explanation would break the world order.
"As for the flame I can assure you it will work. The creatures are born of darkness so a holy flame will drive them as long as the flame lasts. If it helps any i'll leave my lantern here with everyone in town so they will remain safe. As for the keyblade I never planned on bringing that subject up here but a keyblade is basically even more powerful than this flame here. The dark creatures are afraid of it so they will try to destroy the user wielding it."
A storm in the northern mountain starting brewing and the townspeople were getting nervous.
"Again i am sorry if i upset you all, I just think it best we all work together on this as fellow country men and women"
James was nervous and that was fact he was practically shivering but not from the cold.
Now he wondered about this boy with the silver blue hair.
What would he say to help calm the tension?

(In the light of recent events *points at vacation thread by Riku*, we are pressing on.)
A cold wind blew through the area causing teeth to rattle from the townsfolk who dared to stand about and gawk at the situation between Kristoff and the two young men that had suddenly appeared. While the children had said something about mythical flames and magical keys, the townspeople's fear kept them from moving to jump on what seemed like a sweet offer and since their current leader was not exactly budging either, the people stood around quite lost while guards remained on edge as the snow continued to fall all around. When the mountain man asked for convincing from the pair before him, the blonde found himself becoming more tensed as the white haired one suddenly vanished from the area just like Hans had....While this was indeed annoying and did not help the remaining child's situation, as light brown eyes drifted over to the child holding the lantern, Kristoff gave the kid a chance to at least convince him that his plan would work despite the cold or the threat that rested just beyond the ice heavy castle town walls.
With arms folded and a slight tremble running through him thanks to the abnormal cold, the older blonde listened to the kid speak watching him carefully as each word flowed out of the other's mouth.
James Cabuelo was a child that was supposedly gifted with some magical power because he was touched by a goddess? But not just any goddess the one that had appeared and saved them from the darkness only moments ago? Okay....that was a bit out there and a bit hard to swallow. If what the kid was saying was true, then did that mean he had summoned said goddess earlier? It seemed impossible, but then again weren't these shadows and random disappearances of solid people just as impossible? It wasn't like anything about this day was normal, so was this kid's story of being able to speak with a goddess and also use powers thanks to her that hard to swallow? Well maybe a little, but for the moment Kristoff was going to put his picky belief system on hold. Too much was going on already for him to shift through, so he supposed he could let this nonsense pass considering everything else had happened thus far. Yeah...best not to think too hard on the trivial for the moment. When he didn't have to worry about doom so much, he could try and put the puzzle back together again.
Keeping his expression neutral, Kristoff let the kid continue as he more easily accepted that James was indeed from another land. Yep. He was strange enough alright... even if the method of arrival was questionable still.
In any case, Kristoff did not push the point as he listened to the guy try to convince them that the flame would indeed work. His argument was sound enough. After all, darkness was indeed chased away by light or holy things. Still, while the goddess had shown she could do things, this random flame was something new. Speaking of new, this whole keyblade business was just as fishy as the lantern.
James was saying that while there was much to learn about the key, that the shadows that had attacked were indeed afraid of this object that was even more powerful than the flame he was using, but....due to the power of the key and the shadows' fear of it, the creatures would attack the one bearing the key. So if that was true...then this kid would draw them back if he did indeed have a key? Becoming a bit confused by the whole ordeal, Kristoff frowned as the kid apologized again for upsetting everyone; however, Kristoff wasn't buying the story. In fact, he was just about to question the kid further when a sound from the mountains wiped the frown from Kristoff's face as his eyes automatically drifted up to the icy peaks as the sky above became darker, the air colder, and the snow and wind still.
As the silence pressed in upon the town along with the darkness, the people shifted nervously as regular fires barely held against the imposing darkness. Something bad was coming, but what?
Kristoff scanned the skies and the area quickly before his eyes were drawn back to the kid who wielded the flame. He took note that while regular fire was struggling against this new malice, only that light the kid held shine brightly in the area.
Perhaps....perhaps the kid wasn't lying.
Just as the thought crossed his mind, there was a gasp from somewhere behind him as a group of villagers screamed and began to shuffle out of the way of something. As Kristoff turned, he saw exactly what the problem was. In the space that had been opened, a strange creature of darkness leaned back in the air, flapping its wings as it quietly looked about the area with small golden eyes full of intelligence. The creature wielded a strange sword in its clawed hand as it casually brushed the icy ground with its tail. It let out a small clicking sound as it eyed this townsperson or that one causing them to back further away in fear.
Knowing the look of a predator eying prey any day, Kristoff looked around for something to chase the thing away with, when Sven brought him the wooden handle that belonged to his broken pick ax.
Staring at his friend for a moment in disbelief, Kristoff saw the reindeer jerk his head in a strange fashion as they had another silent chat with each other. As the brief conversation came to a close Kristoff began nod as he understood what the reindeer wanted him to do. "So you want to throw our eggs in the kid's basket huh?" Kristoff whispered and then giving into the suggestion his friend was giving, the man took the item from the reindeer's mouth and looked at James, not hiding his suspicion of him. He still didn't trust him, but at the same time with no other options truly available, he moved over to the kid and his lantern and showed him the wooden handle before moving the wooden object to light it with this supposedly magical flame.
Throwing his chances in with faith, Kristoff took a few steps forward before carefully aiming the torch and chucking it directly at the creature, making sure not to hit the townspeople in the process. As the torch sailed and then arced in the air, the creature that looked like it was on the edge of attacking, growled as it looked up and flapped its wings to move backwards and away from the flaming piece wood. As the wood clattered upon the ground, the flame stayed on the stick and glowed brightly lighting the small section it was in up a bit more and causing the winged creature to growl as it stayed further back into the shadows.
With a hiss the creature twirled and vanished.
Relaxing a bit, Kristoff nodded inwardly as he went over to the stick and picked it up to see if had done any damage to the ground or the hay it was dangerously close to.
Nothing had been done. Everything was safe just as the kid said it would be. Nodding, he looked over at a male townsperson watching from the doorway of his home and questioning what should be done; however, brief eye contact and a nod from Kristoff easily sent the message on what should be done. Retreating into the house, the man retrieved some wooden sticks and other things before hauling the pile he had outside and towards the boy with the flame.
From there, others slowly began to mimic what they saw and soon many people were flocking over to the boy with things to use to create torches and what not to help defend the town with the strange light. With their torches ready, Kristoff managed to get the people and the guards to move in a more or less orderly fashion to secure the area off with this precious light.
It took a lot of hard work, but the barrier was eventually set up around the whole town and just in time too. No sooner had the barrier been placed up then a black waved rushed in from the mountains and sought to consume the town and castle. As the black wave reared up to slam into the place, causing the guards and townsfolk alike to run away from the walls in fear, Kristoff watched calmly as the wave came down upon the town, but quickly evoparted against the light that protected the area.
Sighing in relief, Kristoff gave Sven a smirk and a nod of approval before turning his eyes on James, who he had made sure to keep near him during the whole ordeal.
"Alright, kid. I think you won enough of our trust, so I'll go with you into the darkness to find the source that rests within the mountains and destroy it. The guards will stay here with the people and your flame," he told the kid in calm tones as he pointed at the latern suggesting the kid would have to leave it behind before his eyes shifted to the nervous captain of the guard next to him.
"You and your men will make sure that the flames surrounding this place does not go out until we get back, okay?" he told the guard in stern tones before he got a nervous nod from the young guard. Despite his fear, Kristoff saw the determination of the captain in the guy's eyes. He could trust him not to fail him in the end. Good. Content that the town would be well guarded, he looked back at James.
"Leave the lantern with the captain and make your final preparations. If the people make a fuss about something you need, just tell them that Kristoff gave you permission to borrow it for now. They shouldn't give you too much trouble after that. The mountains aren't as friendly as the town so prepare well. Meet me and Sven at the North Gate when you are ready," Kristoff told the kid in the same calm tones that he had used before and then with a light nod he walked away to make his own last preparations.
Returning to his temporary home, he found his bag, rope and some other necessary supplies hidden within the icy cabin. Once Kristoff had finished packing and headed out of the house, he made sure to swing by the black smith's shop to get a better ice pick for the trip. As he asked for the item/weapon, the shop owner was all to happy to hand over as he wished Kristoff well in his journey. Thanking the guy for the kind words, Kristoff left the shop and hit the streets once more.
Armed and ready to go, Kristoff headed to the North Gate making sure to get the sled Anna had given him on his way. While he hated putting the sled in danger, he knew this was the safer and quickest solution to getting multiple people up the mountain. Not only would the sled be able to carry their stuff and them, but it would be easier on Sven to pull the sled that cut through snow so easily rather than attempting to carry himself and the child up the mountain on his back.
Working on the final adjustments to the complicated ties that held the sled in place. Kristoff dusted his gloved hands off as he patted Sven who was pawing the ground with anticipation. He smirked slightly at the reindeer.
"Always ready for anything, huh?" he said to the reindeer and in turn got a proud and slightly goofy nod back in turn. Shaking his head at his friend's antics, his honey colored eyes looked out at the darkness beyond the light that protected the town. It didn't look pleasant, but if the source of the problem truly resided within that mass, then there was no other choice, but to go into it.
He would have to go through that stuff and play hero. It was not a happy thought, but then again, he was not about to let Arendelle fall as long as he still had breath in him to stop such a thing. Besides, he wasn't completely alone in this seemingly daunting task. He had Sven and the kid, so he supposed that would count for something...provided the kid came before the light decided to run out or the darkness found a way back into the town. Shifting his gaze from the unsettling darkness beyond, Kristoff looked back towards the recovering town waiting for James to come.

James was tensing up not just because this mountain person who seemed to be the village leader kept questioning him but because he wore summer clothes in a winter like area. Thanks to Koa' he wasn't freezing to death but still feeling rather cold. The village leader didn't seem to believe him but then again his story was pretty different from a normal standpoint and that's why James had trouble lying because he wasn't used to the other worlds yet.
His powers were unnatural and in his world he was chosen to bring peace to his world and others. Just before James was about to speak the real truth breaking the world order and everything, A unnatural chill blew by and nearly gave him frostbite had he not had Koa's protection.
The entire village seemed alarmed and they looked at the northern mountain as it seemed to radiate darkness and cold winds around it.
Suddenly a strange looking heartless emerged from before them. James pulled out his lantern out of instinct and noticed the creature and the leader fighting, well trying to anyways. He couldn't believe what came next. The mountain man took a wooden paddle and lit it aflame with the torch! James was mostly to stunned to talk when the man lit it and the heartless fled from the lit paddle.
Another man came out with sticks as they were prepared to light them with the flame. James snapped into reality again and lit them for the townspeople as they made themselves a barrier that James told them about.
The man spoke to him saying he leave his lantern with them. James actually wanted this to begin with but was afraid of their response.
The man, Kristoff was his name told him he wouldn't have problems asking for things he needed.
"Oh that's quite alright. I don't need much! I just need some basic supplies and some winter clothing. You don't need to trouble yourselves over me."
James handed the lantern to captain of the guard then would wait for his supplies to be ready.
James was told to go to north gate and meet him and Sven. He was unsure who Sven was but then again that reindeer he hangs out with could be him. James would ask later.
The northern mountain was showing more and more signs of darkness. James was actually a little scared.
"Kristoff correct? To be honest this looks pretty scary even for what I can do. But you should know I will do my best to help in anyway that I can!"

The Dark Queen that sat on the throne of black ice stared blankly at nothing in particular as her anger flooded from her body in black waves. As the darkness seeped from the golden eyed beauty, it filled her black castle, causing the castle’s insides to be cast about in thick black fog. That darkness flooded out of her castle and into the fridge air outside. The darkness froze the air and silenced the wind as it snaked its way down the mountain towards the castle town that had chased away the lower ranking Heartless. As the darkness slithered down the mountainside, the Heartless Jester (now missing an eye and badly scratched thanks to the punishment given to him by the Queen) moved along as quickly as pain would allow him to move to perform his next task for the Queen. A task he did not wish to fail. The Queen had told him to go into the dark and keep the Light Hearts that would surely come entertained. He was told not to kill them just wear them out enough prepare them to be eaten by the Queen herself. If he succeeded, he’d be rewarded greatly and be on the Queen’s good side once more, but to fail? The Jester didn’t even want to entertain that idea. The possibilities were too gruesome to bear, so the Jester quickly put the thoughts out of his head as he did his best to focus on the task given. The task was a simple one, but it was made difficult considering what had happened back at the castle town with the goddess or whatever that Light being was. She could come again and ruin their plans, but still the Jester would continue on and find a way to snuff out her great Light in the end. And when he did that those pathetic humans wouldn’t stand a chance against them any longer. The pleasant thought made the Jester’s scarred face twist with a smile of fangs as he moved along the halls with a little bounce in his step causing the various bells upon him jingle as he moved. He was feeling good already and like a good little pet, the Jester would please his master. He would give the Queen the Light Hearts she desired and crush a powerful Light being should she show up again. The rewards to come from such a feat were delicious to imagine, but despite that excitement, the Jester stayed calm and focused as he exited the dark castle. Letting out a small clicking noise that would translate to orders for the Heartless that were hidden in the Darkness created by the Queen, the Jester began to set the board for the play for what was about to happen. Oh yes, he would get those Light Hearts for the Queen and perhaps more if he was able to reap Hearts from the weaker townsfolk below. All he needed was extra claws and teeth to obey….and obey they did. The orders the Jester whispered, sent the high ranking Invisible to the town below. It had every intention of reaping the Hearts that were full of doubt and hesitation that were located in the ruined town; however, when the blonde that acted as the town’s leader suddenly became bold and lit a wooden handle with the strange and harsh flame the strange Light filled child wielded, the high ranking Heartless found itself unable to stay in the village as that lit torch was thrown towards it and the flame upon it was brought near. Agitated and fearful of the flame, the Invisible had retreated into the darkness; however, by doing so the people gained hope and in turn moved to protect their home with the strange flame that had chased the creature away. Even if the Jester remained in the mountains, he could sense all that happened and cursed under his breath in agitation. The Light was proving to be more of a pain in the butt than he had calculated it to be. No matter, he would not fail his Queen again. The Jester would perform his task and bring that town down to the ground no matter what it took. Hardly bothered by the freezing cold, the Jester began to hobble through the dark covered landscape searching for things in this new land to turn into toys for the Light to play with. **
Back in the castle town, Kristoff had decided to throw his lot in with faith and chance by putting just the tiniest bit of trust in the blonde that had come to Arendelle. While the kid still didn’t have the older blonde’s full trust, Kristoff didn’t exactly shove him off as being a bad guy either. Sure, the whole situation involving this kid was shaky, but under the current circumstances, Kristoff supposed the kid’s timely arrival was a blessing in disguise. While the older blonde didn’t admit out loud, he really thought that for a moment back there that they were going to lose it all to the strange shadows that currently plagued the land, so when the goddess arrived Kristoff was more than just a little bit relieved for the rescue. Regardless of how grateful the mountain man was, Kristoff was still not one to jump the gun and trust anyone who waltzed into his home. Sure, his stubbornness might’ve cost them some precious time, but in the end Kristoff knew for a fact that the time wasted was well spent. He had seen what trust easily given had done to others in the past and he did not want to become one of those victims. Call it paranoia or whatever one would like, but Kristoff’s caution and judgment had served himself and others well so far, so the young man wasn’t going to just toss it to the side just because some kid claimed he had the power to aid them. He gave the kid trouble out of instinct to protect what he saw as his from a potential threat, even if it was a small one. He had already seen too many times over the last few days that the small threats were the most problematic and while this kid, James, was just one being, one loose end was all it took to start an avalanche of disaster. So despite the cold and the threat beyond, Kristoff held his position on not trusting the kid even when Sven was telling him not to do such a thing. In fact, if time had allowed it, he might’ve questioned the kid a bit more just to be sure he was truly alright. Kristoff didn’t seem to be concerned by the fact that he may be making the kid nervous and being one from the colder regions of the Arendelle, he managed to shrug off the unnatural cold with only slight tremors running through his body. Still in comparison to himself, the kid was ill equipped for this sort of weather. Kristoff could see him trembling from the cold and inwardly felt a pang of guilt for keeping the kid outside without offering him some form of help; however, in the light of the current situation and the fact that the kid wasn’t exactly showing normal symptoms that cold such as this would cause to someone so underdressed to experience, the guilt didn’t grow too much. There was something definitely unnatural about the kid, but determining whether this was good or bad was the hard part…even with Sven’s help. Maybe it was because he had to protect others that made the cautious man even more on edge than usual. Maybe it was the weight of being leader that got to him. Or maybe it was the strange ways of the land that made him hesitate. Kristoff wasn’t sure what it was that made him more cautious than usual, but whatever the cause was fate was not about to let him continue to ponder the idea any longer. As the world became silent, colder, and still, a strange sound from the mountain had been the ominous signal that announced the coming of something much worse than the shadows that had been chased away coming towards the town. As if to get whatever was to come started, the strange wing harbinger of darkness had appeared in the town and began to eye the townsfolk as if they were its prey. The creature’s behavior, forced Kristoff to do the one thing he was not very good at: throw his lot in with chance and faith. With a bigger threat than the kid present, Kristoff had given into Sven’s suggestion to trust the kid as he took the handle of the pick ax from his friend and then lit it with the flame that the kid had said could protect the townspeople from the darkness. Still taking his chances, he had chucked that lit wood at the creature of darkness and watched as the predator fled the area. Considering how much of a hard time he had been giving the kid before, James was not prepared for his action and so was quite stunned when the mountain man had come to him for the flame. Regardless of the kid’s shock or his own for that matter, Kristoff had gotten his proof that the flame could indeed do something to the strange darkness and so after giving his silent signal to the townspeople, the town had become quite busy as the people hustled to the areas pointed out to light torches or whatever else they could find to create a barrier for the town. With the barrier up and the darkness held at bay for now, Kristoff turned his attention to James and the captain of the guard giving his instructions. The captain of the guard agreed easily enough to the plan and even James’ words caused the lightest of nods to come from the mountain man before he and his reindeer were off to prepare for whatever was beyond the barrier. While Kristoff and Sven were off, the captain of the guard looked over at James nervously as he accepted the lantern with a shaky smile. The guard looked like he wanted to cry, but somehow he managed to keep himself from doing such a thing as he nodded appreciatively at James. “I’ll be sure to take good care of this until you return, James,” the captain said before moving off with the light to a clump of soldiers looking a bit lost as to what to do now that things were more or less settled. As the guard left, an elderly woman came up to James stopping at a safe distance from him as she eyed the boy with deep grey eyes full of caution, but also something deeper than that underneath. The woman was thin and brittle looking, but stood strong under the weight of her heavy furs as she leaned against her old cane. She remained silent for a while as she continued to study James and then deciding upon something inwardly, she smiled gently at the boy. “Come. Come dear. I think I have some clothing from when my son was still alive lying about the house. They may be old, but they are sturdy and will be much better against the cold than what you have now,” she said gently and then turning away she began to move towards her house pausing only once or twice to see if James was following. If James followed, the old woman would provide him with the clothing needed for the brutal cold at hand. While the clothing could not block all the coldness, the thick and tough fabric would provide enough warmth to make being out in the cold bearable. Whenever James left the house, the more brave townspeople would aid him and finding the supplies he needed while the more cautious helped clean up the town or watched the stranger from afar. While they were truly happy James had helped and in turn tried to help him out, the people were still scared of what was to come and the unpredictable darkness beyond. They didn’t want Kristoff, Sven, or the kid to leave the town. Without them, they were afraid their defenses would be too low and the darkness would enter again and eat them alive. Even with the flame with them, they were still terrified as each individual wondered just how long they would be protected by light. Still, as selfish as the desire was to keep the trio around for protection, underneath that shallow feeling there rested a deeper one within the people. One that radiated hope and allowed the people to let their current defenders at least attempt to fight the darkness that pressed upon them from all angles…even if the chances of survival were slim. In any case, the townspeople aided James in any fashion they could with only a few of the more stubborn people fussing about giving up items to a stranger. Regardless of the minor trouble, James would get what he needed. When the child was finished preparing and came to the North Gate, Kristoff was waiting for him. When the older blonde saw the kid coming, he sighed inwardly in relief. While it did not take that long for James to come, after the weird disappearances of two people, the mountain man had begun to fear that the same would become of the boy….and if that happened that would mean that he would have to go into the darkness beyond alone… . Not a happy thought. In any case, as relieved as he was, Kristoff barely showed it on the outside as he unfolded his arms and pushed himself from his leaning position against the side of the sled as Sven gave the approaching child a happy greeting. Keeping his overprotective side under control, Kristoff nodded to the boy’s question. “You got it, kid,” he said with a small smile that quickly vanished as the kid mention the darkness beyond. Looking back over at the wall of darkness, Kristoff shudder inwardly as he was reminded of just what they had to go through to reach the mountain. This was not going to be pleasant…but it had to be done. Kristoff was silent and still for a moment as he studied that darkness and then shaking his head and looking back at James, he spoke in serious tones. “Well you are not alone in that boat. I don’t like the looks of that wall any better than you do,” he told the kid honestly as he moved to board the sled. After sliding into the driver’s seat and taking up the reins, he glanced over at James as the kid spoke saying he would give this task his all and do his best to help out. “Well, I suppose I can give some credit for your optimism in this rather grim situation,” he told James with a light smirk to show he meant no harm by the comment then becoming serious once more Kristoff gestured with his head for James to hop aboard. “Come on. Let’s see exactly what going out there.”From there, Kristoff would give James the time needed to get on the sled and settled in. Once everyone was ready, he would nod at the gate guard who reluctantly opened the gate for them, letting in the cold wind the large gate blocked. Bowing his head against the biting wind, Sven would begin to move forward and make his way into the wall of darkness beyond. **
The gate to the town closed, but the usually loud thud of the heavy object sealing was barely heard in the cold darkness that now pressed in upon the traveling heroes who made their way across the ice covered fields. Sven pulled the sled at a good pace, but had to slow his run down to a cautious walk as they came upon the large lake that rested between the town and the mountain path ahead. As the reindeer made his way across the slippery surface with the sled in tow, the weak flames within the lanterns on either side of the sled barely illuminated anything outside of the five foot ring it created around the sled and travelers. Above, ahead, and behind the darkness pressed in as the wind whistled hauntingly across the ice scape. Gentle flurries of snow drifted from the sky and landed on the moaning and creaking ice sheet below as the small group traveled onward into the unknown. If small talk was made, Kristoff didn’t start it as he scanned the darkness ahead and all around looking for any signs of trouble. Even his sharp hunter ears were picking up nothing outside of the silence that pressed in all around. The place was suspiciously still and quiet; however, Kristoff could feel the presence of something out there just beyond their sight. It whispered and scurried across the ice watching them as they passed. Sven, who had his head bowed in fear continued to walk looking around the darkness before him with wide eyes. He didn’t like this trek or even being forced to walk slower thanks to the iffy ice under them. Still regardless of this fear, the reindeer pushed on trying to remain brave for the friends he had with him. He pressed on, but ended up looking down at the ice…and it was here that Sven noticed the unsettling things right underneath them. While darkness held control of the area and the frozen waters below, it did not hide the strange ghost like creatures that floated close under the ice. As they drifted under the travelers, the strange ghosts looked up at the traveling trio with one golden eye full of malice while the other hung limply from the socket by a string or maybe the last strand of a muscle. The creatures, with their strange mouths, grinned at Sven in their own twisted way as they continued to move under the ice. And those grins the reindeer saw sent chills through Sven as his hair stood on end and he quickly looked away from the grinning malice below as he pushed on. “It’s alright. We’re right here, Sven,” Kristoff’s voice carried easily over to the reindeer’s ears causing the creature to relax almost instantly as the tense yet calm words cut through his fear. With a grunt and a light nod, Sven pressed on a bit more confidently than before as they began to pass ships frozen in ice, their outlines being illuminated slightly by the faint glow of more of those ghostly shadows lingering about the larges structures along with other strange golden eyes that watched them pass. Kristoff wasn’t sure what it was the creatures were plotting, but he didn’t like the stares. As if sensing his dislike for the situation, one of the bolder ghosts like shadows drifted to the edge of the light that surrounded the sled revealing its black legless body, strange white hands and wobbly head. Making strange sounds it drifted closer to the sled, the creature came towards the side James was sitting on while from the other side, a second ghost appeared and began to drift towards Kristoff’s side; however, their slow movement made it hard to tell if they were going to attack or not….and being unfamiliar with these creatures Kristoff only tensed as he watch the pair come closer to the sled. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OOC Box:Note Section: What to do? The barrier was up and everything was set but it wasn't over for young James as he had to leave on his first big adventure to help the people here. Now handing his lantern with the sacred flame in it to the captain he was glad that he said that do his best to take care of it.
"Thank you captain. That lantern holds a lot of value for me"
When the guard left an elderly woman offered him the clothes he needed but it made James sad that her son was gone.
"Thank you for your offer. Hopefully your son rests in peace"
James tried on the clothes and surprisingly they fit him! He was rather small for his age though that probably meant these were the son's younger clothes. James exited the building and once again thanked the kind woman for her aid.
People had still been suspicious of him but he was glad, glad that he could help these people and their lifestyle stay alive. As he felt the fabrics of the new clothes he felt warm, something he hadn't felt since he got here.
The people gathered the needed supplies in medium sized bag, just enough to be carried on his back.
James was ready to go but he still felt rather scared. As he told Kristoff his plan to help them as much as he could, Kristoff told him he'd fight alongside him. James was told he was optimistic, though not entirely true, James was like this so he wouldn't feel sad. James had no friends. Sure he had all those fake friends that wanted to hang out with him due to being chosen but no one real.
"Thank you Kristoff, I try to.." He trailed off
James got in the sled and settled in.
James almost forgot Kristoff was there until he spoke saying they needed to check out what was going on.
"Ahh! Oh right!"
As the sled moved at a steady pace by the reindeer James hadn't confirmed was sven yet, He felt it, That eerie feeling whenever there is a lot of heartless or a really big dark presence. The reindeer was scared as well as James as it tried to keep up the pace for everyone. Kristoff encouraged the reindeer who is now confirmed to be sven as strange looking heartless started to appear, ghosts that floated by and others that grinned at them. James left his lantern with the town so he couldn't scare them off. So he'd have to do it the old fashioned way, using his keyblade.
Though these heartless seemed different, like they were waiting for him to make a move. James stopped himself from making a move and waited patiently. If they made so much a pounce he would attack but not now. He felt like this once it was a trap of sorts. Like they wanted him to attack. They wanted him to reveal his hand so he would later regret it.
"Let's keep pressing on Kristoff." James said as he seemed slightly nervous at the situation.

To James’ thanks and words to the captain of the guard, the man’s facial expression softened a bit as a genuine smile formed on his lips. The smile was shaky and small, but it was a lot warmer than the one he had tried to put on earlier to hide his fear. “Then that makes my duty to keep it safe that much more important. Be safe on your journey James,” the man said before giving the kid a nod and heading over to the clump of guards that looked like they did not know what to do. With the captain distracted by other business, an elderly lady approached James and gave her offer of clothing to the young man after she had decided that helping the boy was the right thing to do. She led the young man through the town and to her house near the end of the street. On a normal day, the smell of flowers would radiate from the boxes that sat out on her window and the smells and sounds of the market would waft down the streets to warm the heart even in the middle of winter; however, as the lady opened the door and let James into her home, those small comforts did not greet or follow them in. The unnatural cold had frozen over the plants around the house’s windows and made the market unusable as it froze produces and other goods while chasing away the merchants who ran the booths. The situation was direr and glum, but even so the elderly lady did her best to keep her spirits up as she closed the door before drifting towards a back room in her tidy house. If James looked around, he would find that the house was simple in design and made of four square rooms. The first and largest was the one they had entered, the living room. It was made of wooden floors and thick walls that were painted a light tan. Pictures of various dogs and cats lined the wall and small statutes of birds sat along the mantle above the lit fireplace. There was a sofa pushed up against the far wall, a small table that sat upon a warm looking wool rug, and two chairs sitting next to each other as if waiting for someone to sit in them. To the north of this large room was a medium sized kitchen with titled walls. Various pots and pans hung from hooks drilled into the walls and upon the small stove a silent tea kettle rested. The faint scent of food lingered in the kitchen, even if whatever was cooked was long since gone. Through the kitchen was an old rusty door that led outside, but due to the age and the way a bag of trash rested before it, one had to wonder if the door was ever used at all anymore. From the kitchen and to the right, there rested yet another door wooden in design. This door was open slightly allowing one to peek into the other room. The room on the other side was bed room with a single bed and dresser. There were various diagrams and models within the room all neatly pinned and stacked near the walls, on the dresser or on the shelves. There was a closet within the room, but the door was closed blocking whatever was in it from view. This room and the way it was kept suggested that it may have belonged to the old woman’s son, but outside of that did not suggest what he might’ve done in life. In any case, whether or not James had examined the house or simply followed the woman to the small backroom that was her own room, the blonde would eventually find the old woman calling to him as she pointed to a neatly folded pile of clothing upon the bed. As she was leaving out of the room and heard James’ words, the woman smiled lightly as she paused in the door way. “I think he will be able to rest even more peaceful now that you have given his old lady a reason to act once more,” the lady said and then with a nod she left the room, so James could get dress. When he came out a few moments later fully dressed in the clothing provided, the old woman gasped lightly as for one second, she could see her son within the blonde before her. Sure, the faces and other details were different, but the boy was very similar to her son when he was a younger and more innocent. “How handsome,” she said softly with a bit of pride in her shaky voice as a great wave of emotion threatened to take over her. Holding back tears, she nodded at the thank you before escorting the young man to the door and letting him out of the house. As she said her farewells to the child and watched him move down the streets to his next task, the old woman looked to the heavens and began to pray to whatever spirit that would listen for the protection of young James and his traveling companions. After all, that darkness that was held at bay by the light did not look pleasant to be facing…and like her son it could easily swallow those unprepared. **
Sometime later, James met up with Kristoff at the North Gate. As they were preparing to leave, Kristoff and the kid spoke for a bit both of the situation and optimism; however, as the conversation drew towards a close, Kristoff and Sven both took note of how the boy reacted to the comment about being optimistic. As the boy said his thank you and trailed off before sliding into the sled, Kristoff watched the other with a slightly raised eyebrow as he took in the mood the kid was in. Kristoff wasn’t sure if the kid had been offended by something he said or maybe somehow had gone down memory lane, but as his light brown eyes drifted from the kid to Sven, he saw the reindeer shrug at him as he looked just as lost as to what to do as he was. Sighing inwardly, Kristoff looked back at the kid. “Hey, are you going to be okay?” he had asked, but the kid was too far into his thoughts to hear him. Sighing lightly and shaking his head to clear it, Kristoff turned his attention back to the darkness ahead before opening his lips and suggesting they move on to take care of business. With their goal in front of them once more, James who had been sitting quietly next to Kristoff snapped to attention and became alive again. Feeling a bit relieved that the kid had pulled himself out whatever thoughts he had sunk into, Kristoff gave the order to open the gate and then directed Sven out of the town and into the darkness that easily swallowed them up. Once in the darkness, Sven began to move across the ice and snow covered landscape at a good clip that would’ve had them reaching the mountain path in no time had the darkness or the large lake between the town and mountains not slowed them down. As they reached the frozen waters and began to cross the fragile surface of ice, Sven was forced to walk across the frozen landscape at a cautious pace. As he walked pulling the sled along, Kristoff and the blonde remained silent as the darkness pressed in on them upon them and each man on the sled became lost in their thoughts. Kristoff remained quietly listening to the darkness, trying to find even the faintest hint of a threat in the silence; however, no matter how much he strained his frozen ears or searched the darkness beyond their small bubble of light with his eyes, not a single time did danger suggest that it was coming their way. There was only an uncomfortable tension in the frigid air and the strange feeling that something was watching them from within the darkness. It took many minutes of this silence and discomfort before the reason for the strange sensations assaulting himself and Sven were revealed. Ghost. Strange shadowy ghosts resided under the ice and lingered by ships frozen in time by the harsh winter’s cold hands. That is what watched them and gave off the strange tension in the area. Nervous and uncomfortable with this new knowledge, Kristoff’s gloved hands wrapped tightly around the reins he held as his eyes drifted from one set of strange glowing eyes to the next as they continued to move on. When Sven took notice of their unnerving company a few minutes later, Kristoff managed to say words that calmed his friend and helped the reindeer push on; however, despite the words, Kristoff did not feel brave or bold. To be honest, he actually wanted to go back to the town where it was safer. Even if being stuck somewhere was illogical, at least in the safety of the light that protected the town, Kristoff was certain that he, Sven, and James along with the people could’ve created a plan to keep the shadows at bay. They would’ve been able to survive and maybe in time the darkness that surrounded the land would simply give up and go away. But at what price? Kristoff wondered as he kept a close watch on the ghosts around them. Even if they were to go back and follow the plan floating in Kristoff’s mind, this darkness was far from friendly. What would it do to the rest of the land? Would it freeze it over or do something worse? And what of the Ice Harvesters and the Trolls? His family? Would they be able to survive the darkness without the protection of the light? No…I cannot afford to turn back or think selfishly. If I fall into that trap, then everyone here and all around will perish. I have to stay strong and focused…for everyone’s sake, Kristoff thought as he clenched his teeth a bit and did his best to push away his fear; however, just as he was settling himself, their strange company decided that watching them from a distance was not good enough. So with strange groans and moans, the boldest of the group drifted towards the light and cautiously entered the ring. As the ghost glided uncomfortably closer, Kristoff instinctively reached for the handle of his pick ax quite prepared to defend the sled in any fashion should these guys do anything funny. Sven, who kept moving forward, glanced to the left and right as the strange specters got closer. Much like his human friend, he did not like the fact that the ghosts were coming nearer or were floating lazily about his hooves not really touching him as the creatures faded in and out of view. The ghosts groaned and whispered to one another setting the reindeer on edge as he did everything he could to not give into the impulse to run. He had allies with him, so as long as the ghosts didn’t attack, then they would have nothing to worry about…right? As Sven lowered his head slightly in response to a third shadow that appeared before him and floated lazily backwards as it watched him with those broken eyes, Kristoff had held the reins in one hand as the ghosts got closer and decided to drift alongside of the sled as his other hand gripped the handle of his pick ax as he watched the strange display. “What is this?” Kristoff muttered as he watched the ghost on his side of the sled move towards the lantern near the front of the sled that helped light the way. The creature tilted its head at the light before reaching out a gloved hand and smacking the object causing it to sway and threaten to fall off. Chuckling in a strange fashion, the creature reared its hand back as if it was going to strike the latern again; however, Kristoff wasn’t about to allow that. “Hey!” he shouted angrily at the creature as he stood slightly in the sled as his pick ax was easily unclipped from the pelt and lifted into a position to attack the creature. He balanced himself on the moving vehicle as Sven grunted at the ghost in disapproval. Leaning forward slightly, Kristoff had every intention of leaning over even more and whacking the creature away as it looked over at him with one wide eye as the other wiggled disturbingly as it hung from its socket. With no expression on its face, the creature watched as Kristoff raised his weapon and prepared to hit it; however, before the mountain man performed the action, he heard James’s voice from his behind him suggesting they should simply press on and ignore the creatures . Glancing back at the kid, Kristoff observed the other’s nervous disposition for a second. The kid seemed to be holding back the urge to attack the creatures, but why? Kristoff’s eyes narrowed slightly as he turned to look back at the ghost that still lingered by lantern and was then that he took full notice of the glance it was giving him. It was watching him almost as if it was expecting him to attack! Upon noticing this, Kristoff found himself reluctantly relaxing as he cautiously placed the pick ax back on his belt and then sat back down as calmly as possible as he gathered the reins again in his hands. "Ah. I see now. That is a wise call, James,” Kristoff said quietly to James as he finally understood that attacking would’ve probably caused more trouble than needed. Still, it was highly uncomfortable letting the ghosts flow around them or mess with things on the sled. The creatures never damaged the sled or knocked the lights out. They simply played about with stuff, poking this or that as if they were simply curious about the sled and its passengers, but as the ghosts passed by or invaded personal spaces, Kristoff knew that they were only trying to pressure them into attacking. It took a lot of will power on both his and Sven’s part to keep from lashing out at the beasts that tormented them, but after much swatting and swinging of antlers, the trio made it off of the ice and back onto solid ground more or less unharmed. As they got on back onto solid ground, the ghosts that had been following them pulled back and sunk back into the darkness as the sound of bells filled the air. “Now what?” Kristoff wondered out loud as the bells continued to jingle lightly from various directions. A laugh and the sound of running feet passed quickly in front of Sven causing the reindeer to panic a bit as he took a few steps backwards with as he made a slight grunt. “Easy Sven. Easy,” Kristoff said as he tried to calm his friend; however, the words were futile as those bells and laughter kept moving about the area and something invisible begin lashing at the snow in front of Sven forcing the reindeer back towards the lake to avoid getting whapped. What the…?! Kristoff thought in shock for a moment and then shaking his head to clear he began to talk to Sven. “Hey! Come on now. Just go around it and stop backing up!” the mountain man shouted to his friend sternly and while the frightened reindeer did his best to obey; however… wherever the deer moved so did the strange laughter and lashing. Fighting to control Sven and get the sled moving forward in a safe manner once more, Kristoff would not have time to hear the laughter and bells that came from directly behind them. If anyone did hear the laughter and turned back towards the ice, then their eyes would see the form of the Heartless Jester dressed in its purple and black striped clothing upon the ice. Despite being injured and missing an eye, the strange Heartless’s face was split into a malicious grin as its surviving golden eye narrowed with delight. It was hopping about on the ice laughing as the bells upon its clothing jingled. It seemed to be excited about the sled being pushed back towards the ice. And why was it so happy about this? Well the answer to that was quite simple. As the Jester bounced from one foot to the other happily, the ice under it began to shift and crack with loud moans and pops. As the ice did this, icy water began to sigh and slosh from under the deep cracks that were created. Within a matter of seconds, the once frozen lake became a sloshing death trap of large ice chunks and angry waters. All the while that chaos was unfolding, Sven was slowly being driven back towards the icy pit without realizing it as Kristoff did what he could to get around their invisible assailant. The whole time this was happening, the Jester floated in the air holding his stomach as he folded over in slightly laughing as he pointed at the trio and the sled as they were forced back towards the pit. While it was true he was ordered not to kill the Light Hearts, the Queen never said that nature couldn’t take them out. If they fell into the water and began to drown and freeze, the Jester would be allowed to nab those light filled Hearts right out of the pitiful heroes’ bodies and deliver them still beating to the Queen. Surely that would make her happy, right? The Jester wasn’t sure, but was willing to risk more pain if meant he could collect those Hearts in the end. So the creature continued to taunt and laugh at the trio about that were being backed into their doom. ___________________________________________________________________________________________- Action Box:James’ decision to keep moving has indeed saved the group from a fight; however, now a different sort of problem has arisen. In place of obnoxious ghosts, the Heartless Jester has appeared and is using his power to force Sven back towards the icy death trap that was once the lake. If something isn’t done this could spell disaster for our heroes. The Status of Things:Town: HP: 100% Protection upon Town: 4 posts until the flames go out and an attack occurs. Sled Health: 100%

James kept a smile on his face despite the dire situation they were all in. As the captain reassured him about his lantern and the safety of the people James noticed an elderly woman approached him as she told him about her son. James gave her some words of encouragement then was lead into her house for the winter clothing he had asked for. It was rather nice house but James decided to follow the woman instead of look around the place.
James went into the room belonging to her deceased son and tried on the clothes. The fact that they fit was pretty cool though he was warm he felt bad he was taking someone else's clothes. Though when the woman told James she had a reason to act once more James felt rather at peace with himself. Thanking the woman and heading out the first thing he noticed was Kristoff and sven well actually the lack thereof the two that had helped him.
James was confused and asked around but to avail. They had simply vanished!
James sat down on the steps of the house of the elderly woman that kindly gave him those clothes. He had no place to stay really but also he was left alone with no one to help him fight this threat.
"How can I can possibly help them now?" James thought out loud with a rather depressed tone.

(Riku is replacing Kristoff so the thread will continue. Also due to the rewind time effect to compensate for some things, th timer has been reset back to 5 post until the light goes out in the town.) Riku had arrived in a strange new land when he had decided to follow the trails of the strange darkness that cropped up and began to stain worlds. The darkness that seemed to belong something similar to a Heartless, but far darker. The young keyblade master did not know what this darkness was or where it had come from, so leaving Traverse Town, he had allowed himself to be pulled to the areas where the trail of this new darkness were the thickest, hoping that by following it, he would find the source and truth behind it all. When he had left Traverse Town, he had braced himself for whatever world he would enter, his mind already plotting what to do if he should land on one of the worlds more familiar to him; however, as the Light released him bundled in thick clothing, a cloak and a thick scarf that protected his face from the cold and biting blast of wind that greeted him upon that mountain top, Riku knew from feeling he got that this world he had landed on was a stranger to him. As aquamarine eyes took in the snowy landscape, he took note of how these moutains were shaped differently than the tricky ones of the Land of the Dragons. The feel to this world was also different, its Heart whispering a foreign song to the keyblader who could just barely hear the small voice under the thunderous roar of wind and snow. This world…it was now connected to the rest of the worlds by a new pathway that was torn open by the strange trail of darkness that led him here…and still lingered in this world apparently. Shifting in his spot, Riku’s eyes turned to the higher mountain peaks and dark storm clouds that bellowed up above. Without needing the winds aid, he could smell the bitter and stinging scent of darkness radiating from the highest of the mountain tops as if it owned the place. The sensation and thoughts that followed the feeling were sickening and perhaps if it was indeed only the darkness on the mountain top that he had to contend, then perhaps the Keyblade Master would’ve set his sights on the paths that would lead him deeper into the Darkness that was brewing there; however, a second after recognizing where the Darkness was coming from, the Keyblade Master’s attention was drawn from the source to trouble that was radiating below. He could sense a mass amount of Heartless gathered somewhere below the mountains causing strife no doubt with their greed and presences. Along with Heartless he sensed the Light struggling to hold back the darkness, but the keyblader wondered just how long the Light would hold up with such a great wall of darkness to contend with. “Tch!” was the light sound that escaped Riku as he gritted his teeth lightly under the scarf he wore and turned his eyes to the path leading down the mountain instead. With no other choice, but to go aid those in need, Riku put his hunt for the source of the Darkness on hold as he instead turned his back on the mountains and began to make his way down towards the huge source of Heartless below. **
Some time later, Riku arrived at a castle town that was being assualted by a great mass of Heartless that flowed from everywhere without end like a great pouring of water from a busted pipe. People were running and screaming, houses were burning down, and the Heartless were feeding happily on anyone's Heart that could not get away. The sight was sickening and so in response, Riku summoned his keyblade the Way to Dawn and began to move through the gathered horde the best way he could. He took down any Heartless that came too near as he cut paths to the civilians being attacked. As he fought and saved as many innocents that he could, the keyblader could sense the other Light warriors there; however, thanks to the great mass of the dark creatures that pushed in, Riku was unable to see where the warriors were until quite unexpectedly a surge of Light filled the area and then after speaking to the scared people, said Light rained its power down upon the horde that quickly dispersed and retreated from the area. A bit winded and sore from the battle, Riku had dismissed his keyblade as a brief calm entered the area. Scanning the area and making note of who needed help and who could manage on their own, Riku’s eyes eventually found the source of the Light he had sensed resisting the Darkness. There was a tall blonde man bundled up and beaten up from the battles along side a reindeer that looked equally as tired. Before them was a young man with blonde hair who was trying to convince the people to hear him out as he mentioned something about a goddess and holy light that could protect them from the Darkness as he held up a strange lantern with white light in it. The power of that Light that radiated from the other was strong making Riku think that maybe the other was a keyblader like himself and so deciding to try and help persuade the people, he had joined the younger blonde by stepping forward and speaking words that had to be said. While it was a bit uncomfortable revealing he was a keyblader to a mass of people, the white haired young man figured that the most logical and effective way of explaining anything was through demonstration. After showing the people what the keyblade was and suggesting that his own weapon and the other’s combined with any fighting force that was available could potentially help stop the problem, Riku explained where the source of the problem rested. He tried to emphasis without being too pushy that time was against them; however, the older blonde was skeptical of either of their propositions. He wouldn’t budge on aiding them causing Riku to sigh inwardly as he felt tension build within. He really hated to waste time arguing, but he understood the other party’s resistance to the facts as they were questioned. While the boy did most of the talking and introduced himself to the people, Riku had remained quiet waiting his turn to speak; however, before he could even open his mouth to begin his own form of convincing people, the Darkness that had been waiting quietly made its move, sending in an upper ranking Heartless to begin whatever it had planned. On instinct, Riku took a step forward to stop the horned Heartless himself; however, the older blonde was quicker. Using the remains of a wooden handle, the older blonde ignited the end with the bright white flame from James’s lantern. Then launching said torch at the creature that moved inward, Riku watched as the Heartless backed away from the flame’s Light and retreated back into the darkness from whence it came. Convinced by the display that the flame could indeed work, a single nod from the older blonde that acted as leader of this town was all it took to get the townspeople to move. Quickly grabbing what they could, they followed the orders given to create a protective ring of torches around the area...and not a moment too soon. Riku had just thrown his torch into the larger gathering of items upon the wall, when the huge wave of Darkness flowed downward from the mountains and towards the city. While the guards with him buckled and ducked in fear, the keybearer had watched that familiar force rush upon the area unafraid to face it head on if necessary; however, thanks to the holy light provided by James, the Darkness came to a stop inches in front of him as it moved around the light that protected town in a bubble like fashion before attempting to press down upon it. The Light trembled, but held up against the pressure, but for how long the Light could handle such an assault, Riku did not know, so jumping down from the wall to re-enter the town, the keybearer had scoped out the place looking for James and the others to see what he could do to help, but it would seem that for the moment he had lost them, so he had moved about the town to help the people as he poked around for information on both the situation and the whereabouts of James and the others with him. It took a while, but eventually a woman he was aiding told him that the Kristoff and Sven were planning to take James with them to go go into the Darkness to face it head on, a fact that deeply rattled the keyblade master when he had heard the news. Finishing up his current job, the keyblader moved about town in search of the trio, but found that as he searched that two of the Lights that had been so strong in the area before were now missing. Meaning…two of the warriors went into the Darkness and was consumed by it or whisked away to another world…Not sure which two lights were gone, Riku moved about town until he found the one called James wearing new attire sitting upon the steps of a house he seemingly just exited with a frown upon his face and a depressed air surrounding him. Feeeling slightly relieved and yet concerned now that he knew exactly which two Lights had vanished, Riku braced himself for anything as he crossed the area and made his way towards James. Stopping a respectful distance away from the other, Riku took a moment to fully observe the other. While the kid did not look like anything special, Riku could still sense that great Light that radiated out from the other. It was strong like a keybearer’s but now that he could fully read that Light without interuption, Riku found that he had been a bit mistaken in his first assumption. The kid wasn’t a keybearer, but something else…still keybearer or not this kid was the only remaining ally he could take with him that had a chance against the darkness out there. With the town guards busy trying to compensate for the loss of a commander, there was no way Riku could ask the civilians to come with him on the journey that was ahead, so that left only one option. Looking away from James and towards the Darkness above, Riku spoke to the other. “James,” he began before lowering serious aquamarine eyes to lock upon the other. “I know what I must do and so I am going to try to find some form of light on my way out of this town and into that Darkness. That Darkness is more than likely the same as the Darkness that took that man and his reindeer away from here. I will admit the trek won’t be easy and the Darkness will present challenges unlike any other you have faced. It will try crush you and consume your Light, thus making what remains of you its pawn. So I won’t ask you to follow me into that sort of danger if you prefer not to… ” the keyblader said in soft tones laying the truth bare before the other upon the steps. Riku knew how hard it was…to watch allies and friends vanish into thin air. He had seen it happen many times and even caused people to suffer when he too had followed this pattern; however, even so they had to move on…even if it was hard to do so. In any case, Riku would let the words sink into the boy before he was turning away and making his way at a casual pace across the town heading towards the damage part of town where he hoped a hole leading out into the Darkness could be found. He didn’t stop or turn to see if James was following. He just kept moving at his casual pace. Alone or not, Riku would face the Darkness; however, his casual pace suggested he wouldn’t mind if James tagged along with him. He had a feeling he would need the extra aid and company within Darkness from another was always welcomed. It gave Riku something to hold onto just in case the tides tried to wash him away once more. However, the keyblader did not rely heavily upon the strange boy for only James could forge his own way forward and make the calls upon what happened to his life or not. Unlike Riku, it wasn't this kid’s duty to protect the worlds or deal with their problems. If James chose to run or stay, Riku would not hold it against him. After all…the Darkness was a nightmarish beast to contend with…. ______________________________ The status of things: (the rules of the game remain the same. Let’s press on.)
