And now you know the truth Tell me can you feel it, as you hit the wall The monster's loose, and now you have to choose And prove that you can take it to the top and never fall
Deling City was in a panic and ruin. The once beautiful streets of this bustling and bright city were either half destroyed, under repair, or just simply abandoned. What citizens had escaped the initial destruction by the grand beast that had decided to make it's home here were hiding where they could hopefully be safe. Many had taken to the sewers. Others took their luck to their cars and foot, as train travel between Deling and everywhere else had been shut down soon after the Ruby Dragon had arrived on the scene. Caleb Deling, Nephew to the former presiden Vinzer Deling and current ruler of the city, could do little to hide the fact that the city had more or less lost all hope of salvation. His last desperate act had been to send out some of his administration with news of the event, in the hopes even one would find themselves with help to come deal with their problem. Perhaps Squall, warrior of Balbamb Garden, would return and take care of the city's problem. Or any SeeD member truly! Having someone to come and save this poor forsaken city would be grand.
Caleb Deling long ago had to abandon his Presidental home, the abode being destroyed in the initial attack. He had been lucky to make it out alive, and found safety in the much hardier Caraway Manor. General Caraway himself, having been reappointed by Caleb, had taken what military he could to evacuate much of the city and save it's people, but even they recognized the hopeless effort this was unless someone came to save the city soon. Outside forces were needed, especially with this powerful ruby Dragon. It was probably lucky then that Caraway Manor and the area near it were one of the few areas still easily acessable, and was clearly the current stronghold against any sort of attack. But would any forces arrive to help? And without knowledge of where in the city this monster had made its nest, was there hope of actually clearing it out? Many had not been able to reach the interior of the city since the unfortunate destruction. But could someone one day?
That is where this story begins...

Flying high above Deling City, a red-headed freelancer was scoping out the area as best he could from this eagle-eye view, taking a note of all the damage caused by the monster terrorizing the city. It was quite impressive to say the least, fires running rampant, skyscrapers smashed to pieces, some cars thrown into a building here and there, and much more. The freelancer couldn’t help but sigh lightly at the sight, closing his eyes as he shook his head, wondering if taking on whatever caused this mayhem was a good idea. He had fought many strong opponents before but he couldn’t recall the last time he took on an opponent as big as the fabled Ruby Dragon. Well there was that Behemoth a long time ago but that monster couldn’t fly or breathe fire so that wasn’t a good beast to make a comparison with. Furthermore, that time he had the help of a female magician, one whose skill with sorcery was nothing to scoff at and had played a significant role in their victory. This time his only help was a female keybearer, a green one at that who hadn’t had her keyblade for more than a week. Am I really allowing a keybearer to be the one to watch my back?[/i] he mused as he flew his Gummi Ship closer to the ground preparing to land near a building that seemed to be where a majority of the citizens had evacuated to, And am I still hung up on the fact that she’s a keybearer despite the fact she saved my life just last week?[/i] he finished mentally as he landed the Gummi Ship. Opening the hatch, Felix would jump out of the cockpit, landing on two feet as he let out a loud yawn, one he failed to cover his mouth in time to suppress. Coughing as if to clear his throat, he would look away a bit embarrassed at his temporary lack of tact in front of the lady accompanying him. ”Ah excuse me I didn’t get much sleep yesterday,” he confessed as he slipped his hands into his pockets, looking back over to her with a toothy grin, ”At any rate I believe this is the place where all the citizens were evacuated too… let’s check it out and see if we can find who’s in charge here,” he explained, beginning to walk toward the front door. And why am I still getting embarrassed whenever I drop my guard around her and just act normally?[/i] he thought for a moment before he was stopped by the two guards at the front door. Shaking his head briefly, he glanced left to right before the guard’s asked him in unison what his purpose was coming here. A smirk curved against his lips at the question, quickly turning into a cocky grin before he parted his lips to speak. ”Hmm well I’m here to talk to whoever’s in charge to start,” he said in a confident tone although one that didn’t undermine the authority of the two guards in front of him as he pointed to Raine with his thumb, ”My associate and I are here to take care of your little dragon problem but we would like to get a handle on everything before we rush in the city to save the day. The word of this disaster has spread quite far and upon hearing it I figured that I would like to add “Dragon Slayer” to my list of titles. On the other hand I’d also like to not die and any information regarding said dragon in terms of behavior, its attacks, its strengths and weaknesses, or anything else that might prove useful to know should reduce the chances of that happening,” he explained, neglecting to mention that he would be doing all this for a price but that wasn’t any of their concern. Regardless, the two soon nodded although couldn’t help but smirk as it seemed rather ludicrous for two people to take on a Ruby Dragon. ”A scrawny looking red-head and a woman no less,” the one guard on the right said not so silently getting a laugh out of the other one. Felix didn’t mind it as he continued inside waving his right hand to them, although wondered what Raine’s reaction to that demeaning comment would be if any. I don’t take her for a particularly violent person but most fighting women don’t enjoy it when their abilities in battle are doubted simply due to their gender… and I know for a fact her abilities are nothing to scoff at even if she is new to the whole keybearer thing. While that’s true who knows if she or even I am tough enough to face this Ruby Dragon,[/i] he mused as he walked inside, taking a gander around. Lots of hustle and bustle was going about as people were going here and there, being directed by other blokes that wore that same uniform as those at the front door. The injuries suffered by the citizens seemed to vary quite a bit in severity, some getting off with just minor scratches while some suffered heinous burns. The sight made the red-head cringe a bit as he clenched his right fist tightly not a fan of seeing people so badly hurt even if it meant that he got a job out of it. It was one thing to get punched or something that was easily healed like that but the burns some had suffered would take much longer and quite possibly never heal completely. They would most likely live with those scars for the rest of their life, both the physical and mental ones that came of being burnt so badly… and there was nothing he could do about it. The freelancer didn’t have any healing abilities for others and the only thing he was good at was beating monsters up so that the victims could have some semblance of revenge against the beast that hurt them. Yet even with that revenge at the end of the day they would still suffer those terrible wounds and even if he beat up one monster there was another to take its place. Whether it was a dragon, a behemoth, a Heartless, a Nobody, or any other creature you could mention, there was far too many to ever completely quell the threat they posed. It was disheartening to know he was so powerless to do anything short of perhaps giving these people a semblance of relief by slaying the dragon that had terrorized their city. And that’s not even counting the people that died… I can’t do anything for them now,”[/i] he mused, sighing lightly at his morbid thoughts, I really should shake these thoughts off, I need to focus on the task at hand and find their leader. If I had to make a guess he’s going to be wherever the highest amount of guards are,[/i] he thought and sure enough after a moment longer of inspection he found a rather important looking fellow surrounded by guards. ”Ah Raine I’m going to go talk with that guy real quick and get the 411 on the situation here,” he started pointing over to said “guy”, ”If you wish feel free to join but I imagine it won’t be a very eventful or enthralling discussion. I can summarize it for you in the event that you would rather wait here but if you wish to be a part of the discussion feel free to accompany me,” he would explain to his “associate”, giving her the choice of coming or not before adding in an embarrassed tone, the freelancer not exactly one to say what he was about to say. ”Ah and I don’t think I told you yet but umm… thanks for coming, means a lot to know I got someone watching my back when potentially fighting a dragon,” he started, grinning sheepishly as he scratched his right cheek with his index finger, ”And if I can trust anyone with my life it would have to be you all things considered, you’re a rather reliable person if I do say so myself,” he finished, a light smile tugging at his lips when he ended his dialogue. Regardless, he would then take off toward the important looking fellow and when within earshot attempt to get his attention. ”Oi, here to take care of your dragon problem… mind giving the 411 on everything that’s going on exactly?” he would shout, a confident grin plastered on his face as he crossed his arms and took a cocky pose.
