A dark shadow had fallen over the Hundred Acre Wood.
...dear oh dear does that sound ridiculous.
Ah, ahem...
A dark shadow had fallen over the 100 Acre Wood. Tales had sprung up amongst the adorable woodland community of misfits, speaking of a beast that devoured anything that crossed its path, one that burned a terrifying fire deeper and darker than any hearth. Its eyes were cold and burning, both at once, and could stare literal holes into those unfortunate to cross him. It’s claws are said to rip apart the fluff out of you with just one swipe, and that one touch with his pinky nail could turn you into stone. Yet most terrifyingly where its jaws, which were said to have consumed countless beasts, even the legendary Skullasaurus, with one fell swoop of his maw, and that it’s hunger could never be abated, ever.
They called it Gralonzo, after the cruel, ominous growl it released when asked, ‘who’s there?’, the first night it was encountered. And ever since that faithful dusk, just a little more than two weeks ago, they denizens of Hundred Acre Wood feared it ever since.
It was poor Rabbit who had the misfortune of learning of the monstrous Gralonzo, that dark night where he saw a huge, lumbering shape with a burning red form in his yard. As usual, he assumed it was the Tigger, attempting to annoy him as usual. He was quickly proven wrong when he saw the terrifying Gralonzo, who had the misfortune of asking that fateful question that would lead to it’s name. The moment the beast spoke, Rabbit ran back inside, bolted his door, and waited in fear.
And from that day since, it was a terrifying cycle. The Gralonzo would awake at night and stalk off to Rabbit’s yard, where it would rip and consume any of the vegetables that it could. For the first few nights, it was satisfied with that alone. Eventually, it became more and more enterprising, catching a glance into Rabbit’s home on occasion, as if searching. For prey.
Finally, one night, when Rabbit hoped he was safe, he ventured out of his home. And only found Gralonzo waiting for him.
The beast nearly ate Rabbit right then and there. Ever since that night, the Gralonzo took no quarter, attempting to eat anything that crossed his way; Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, even Owl and his wings were not safe from the ire of the beast.
Now, this night, the creatures have holed up in Rabbit’s home, terrified to return to their own abodes in fear the Gralonzo might appear, and preferring the security of in numbers with their close friends. However, they could feel the ominous wind blowing over the forest. Tonight, it was going to appear, and unless someone…
…Anyone…
…like, seriously, anyone at all…
…no joke, ANYONE…
… appeared that night…
…this night would end several woodland critters fewer.
