Cloud, after seeing Denzel and making sure that he was safe, went on ahead to search for info on why and how Ruby WEAPON surfaced. Denzel and Marlene were at the back of his mind ever since he left Gaia, and when he ran into Tifa in Sora's universe, Cloud began to worry a little but now that he knows that Denzel was safe and that Marlene was mostly likely with her father Barret, Cloud was free to continue to search for his answers. Cloud almost found it weird that his main focus wasn't Sephiroth. Sephiroth seemed to be the root of everything that ever went wrong in Cloud's life or in the lives of his friends. Although Cloud felt that there was a slight chance that Sephiroth might have a connection to Ruby WEAPON resurfacing and Scarlet coming back to life...he wasn't sure that Sephiroth was the reason...at least not this time. It did feel good seeing Vincent again. Vincent was always there for Cloud. Even though his assistance was quiet most of the time, Vincent was probably one of the best allies Cloud ever had in battle. Cloud wondered what Vincent was doing now at the moment. He wondered if Vincent himself was trying to gather info on how Ruby WEAPON could have surfaced or if he was just spending time by himself, relaxing. Other than Cloud...Vincent was one for solitude and alone time.
As Cloud rode out of the city of Edge and into the Mako-less desolate fields that surrounded him and the city on his motorcycle, Fenrir, Cloud took in the dead scenery that stretched for miles. He wondered when life would breathe into these plains that he rode on. There was nothing but the ruins of Midgar and the growing city of Edge. Cloud had seen this empty dry field millions of times...but it had been a couple of years since Midgar had been using the life force of the Planet to meet its needs, he thought that the Lifestream would have made this place..."green" again. Cloud continued to ride through the fields...but then he stopped for he found a place of familiarity. From where he sat on his motorcycle, he saw a random patch of flowers growing from where Cloud had stuck the Buster Sword into the ground in marking Zack Fair's grave. It was then that memories of Zack began to play through his mind once more. From the time that Zack asked Cloud if he wanted to be in SOLDIER to the time of his untimely death, Zack had always been looking out for Cloud. Cloud wasn't much of a fighter like Zack back then. Cloud still feels that if he had been a bit stronger, Zack would still be with him today...but Cloud knows that Zack did what he did so that Cloud could live his life. Cloud smiled, wondering what Zack would think if he saw Cloud today...
It was then that Cloud heard something...a growling noise...Cloud's smile disappeared and he looked to the left to see Guard Hounds...ten of them. Cloud sighed and he activated the sword compartment device in his motorcycle. He took out the main blade, The First Tsurugi, and he closed the sword compartments. He turned off the engine of his motorcycle and dismounted off of it, kicking out the kickstand to set his motorcycle in place. He then walked slowly toward the ten Guard Hounds that stood before him and as he did, the Guard Hounds began to circle him. Cloud put the First Tsurugi into battle mode, the flat side of the blade then split apart but was held in place to make the First Tsurugi have two points instead of just one. Cloud sighed and looked all around him. He exhaled and that was when one Guard Hound tried to attack him from behind, but then Cloud, having heard the steps of the charging Guard Hound, turned around and gave a punishing horizontal slash to the one that was unfortunate to attack Cloud from behind, killing it. It would seem that Cloud's investigative work would have to wait for now...
