A subtle breeze managed to creep down into the arena, ever so softly shifting the coat hanging from the shoulders of the Crimson SOLDIER. The tightening of leather came from his hands though as while they were held behind his back, Genesis softly squeezed both hands into fists before relaxing away, obviously wanting to keep his fingers and hands warm in case the pair of warriors went for another round. The tension within the air was thick. Not as much as as one would expect from a serious confrontation, but it was noticeable to anyone able t detect such a thing. Genesis could, but he wasn't worried about it. The tension was of a good kind, one that signified that he was simply excited about this sparring session. If going up against any other warrior, the SOLDIER may not have stopped for a break. The only reason he did so against this white-haired man was because of an uneasy feeling he was ever-so-slightly having trouble in controlling himself, whether that be his strength, his Darkness, or something worse. No visual clues were given to accompany this however, as the auburn-haired man simple continued to smile and listen intently to the answers of his questions.
The bright blue eyes the SOLDIER had widened a fraction in surprise as he tilted his head, intrigued with Deshi's answer. Self taught and in no particular style? That was certainly very interesting, especially after seeing how good he just was with only basic movements and attacks. How good would this guy be when he was serious? The thought excited the SOLDIER 1st Class. Even though he was mostly against fighting, there was just something unexplainable about going up against a potential target who was stronger then oneself. It must have been the SOLDIER blood within his veins. Always wanting to meet and fight the greatest challenges to improve oneself. Genesis was hardly anywhere near the new level of potential he felt he could achieve. Back on Gaia when all the worlds were their own, sure, but now with all the world being connected to each other, it was only now Genesis realized how weak he actually was. Deshi's second answer brought the Crimson SOLDER out his memories and he glanced back at his sparring partner, nodding his head at his reply.
"Too long huh? Spent a lifetime waging war, fighting your enemies, ending lives and not really knowing the real reason for it? You were simply pointed in that direction and told to fight?" Genesis lowered his head a fraction and smiled as he brought a hand around from behind his back, pressing the fingertips of his crimson glance against his forehead. Frowning, though keeping the smile on his lips, Genesis sighed inwardly at how alike this man was compared to himself. Of course, he could be completely wrong. Lowering his hand back down to his side, the leather material of his coat and sleeve creaking as he did so, the auburn-haired men brought his head back up and returned his glowing blue-eyed gaze back to the white-haired man, nodding his head a couple of times as a small, barely audible chuckle escaped from between his lips. "So now you're on a journey to find your purpose, huh? Broke free of your manipulators and now you don't know what to do with yourself?"
Deshi's own question about his own skill wasn't a surprise. "I had dreams and desires when I was a boy. I wanted to become the greatest SOLDIER that ever lived." Genesis begun to explain, tilting his head to the skies where he begun to watch the moon shine down high within the sky. The soft chirping of the wildlife had started once more after the sounds of battled had faded away completely. "SOLDIER are the very best combat specialists from where I come from. Whenever a problem occurs that cannot be sorted by any other means, we're sent in." He explained, breaking away from the main subject for just a second. Genesis had glanced back down at Deshi as he did this before he smiled, blinked, then returned his attention back up onto the bright sphere of light within the midnight sky. "After joining, I met a man I called 'friend'. He was far superior to me in every way. Speed, strength, intelligence, skill... ever rank. I taught myself to fight so I could one day beat him. We grew quite the rivalry, one that still exists today. As his power continues to grow beyond mine, I seek out reasons to fight to constantly improve myself. Fighting against you has helped, but only when we fight for real, will the actual learning begin."

As a slight breeze reached down into the arena, Deshi enjoyed it letting it calm him and giving him the ability to push down the earlier stir of the Void when he had gotten injured. The timely pause in battle perfectly executed despite the tension in the air that came from two warriors that respected each other and did not mind a fight or two to learn a bit about the other; however, there were some things best kept in the dark where they belonged to keep both parties safe from any damaging side effects that said secrets could cause. While the pair had not been fighting long and Deshi had not even begun to show his full potential, he knew that Genesis was doing the same. He could sense that the man would not mind continuing the spar to see what else he could do and quite frankly he wondered what other tricks the man could test him with.
After all, this spar had been the most fun he had in a long while. He did not have to worry about defeating an opponent in the usual manner of fights. It was nice to spar again, but as he watched his intriguing challenger, he had to wonder if maybe he had caught onto the Void’s stirring. Could he sense the change? If so then was the pause in battle to give him time to regain his composure? If this was so then, what else could the man pick up from him through fighting? It would be interesting to find out, but he wondered if a spar could give him the answer. Hmm….
Wandering thoughts aside, questions had been asked and answers given. He took note of the mild surprise in the crimson warrior's eyes as he told him he was self-taught. The words weren’t a lie. While he had been breed to fight no one ever trained him in the ways of the blade or any style. No, their idea of training was to put him through every survival situation they could think of and make him fight for his life. It sharpened his instincts, made him quick on his feet, but the skill of being calm and wielding his weapon as he did now came after learning to be cautious against opponents and watching what they did. Through mimicking and a small bit of practice he had gotten his art more or less grasped; however, he was not a specialist nor a master of what he did. Like he said before he did what he had to to survive the arena. His path to where he was now was blood soaked and filled with bad memories, but it was a part of him he always carried and simply had to deal with. Those with formal training would find his path odd, but formally trained or not, experience with battles always tempered a person’s skills just as well if not better than a teacher teaching his art.
He was not proud of his skills and he could easily be beaten by someone even better than him, but he did not let such obstacles bother him. Instead, they helped him grow and push himself to higher places with his skills by what was taught to him by the challenger. It wasn’t that he loved fighting. No, he actually disliked it and did not wish to use his skills unless necessary; however, he did love to learn, so if a small scuffle could enlighten him about the world and the thing he was in battle with, then fighting was not so bad. At least when you were learning you didn’t necessarily have to kill the subject which was being study. Such was the case here.
In any case, to the white haired warrior’s second answer Genesis nodded before responding with questions of his own that brought a slight smile of amusement to the warrior’s face. It almost sound like this one had traveled a similar path to his in life. Where else would the man get such guesses from? Interesting. It would seem this man was not so different than him after all. Good, perhaps this one would understand him assuming his assumption was right. In any case, he answered the man.
“Your guess work is almost exactly on the mark; however, arena battles were my battlefield more so than war zones. Regardless, the fighting came too often along with the killing and I did not have much choice on my end in regards to doing it or not. It was pointless killing, guided by greed and pride. You get tired of it after a while, so it is nice to be away from it now,” he said before pausing and watching the crimson warrior’s actions. He wondered briefly what was going through his mind and then those glowing blue eyes were on him again with another set of questions being directed towards him.
To this, the white haired warrior was quiet for a moment as his eyes flickered grey for the slightest moment. The Void was liking this man as much as he was and as result wanted nothing more than to see the man unleash his full potential, but Deshi wasn’t about to let that happen. No, this was not going to be a place for unnecessary bloodshed. He would not allow it. After a brief struggle, he blinked slightly as he shifted his weight to his left foot and placed his free hand on his hip as he titled his head slightly to the side as he processed the questions.
“I suppose I am searching for my purpose or rather myself, but I did not break away from those that used me,” he said watching Genesis carefully. “I destroyed them.” His words were calm and emotionless. He didn’t like his past and he didn’t exactly like sharing it with people thanks to the reaction he typical got from the few who had heard his words. There was never pity or understanding, just the harsh judgement of those that hoped he’d burn in Hell for his sins. He often wondered if he could ever make up for what the Void had done or if his fate was already sealed. Regardless of his future, he felt he could be upfront with this man not having to worry about too much judgement. After all, those glowing eyes told him that this man also might be holding a secret not so pleasant. In any case, the tensed moment passed and then Genesis was answering his questions. The crimson warrior began his explanation by speaking of dreams and desires he had as child to become something called SOLDIER as he looked up at the moon. Deshi was curious about what the difference was between the SOLDIER Genesis spoke of and a regular soldier. As the insects began to hum once more now that the small fight had ceased between them, Deshi didn’t have to wait long for an answer to his curiosity.
As he listened to the description of a SOLDIER, he nodded. It was almost like the arena fighters back home. Like SOLDIERS, they were the absolute best; however, they weren’t designed to help out the world or handle messes no one else could handle. No, they were trained to get rid of a country’s champion and in turn win land from other kingdoms. In any case, as the man looked back at him, Deshi nodded once more as a sign that he was still listening and interested in what Genesis was saying. After a moment, the man looked back to the night sky and continued.
He listened as he described another he called friend that was better than him in every way and how he taught himself to fight better so that he could beat him one day. A rivalry unlike any other that existed to this very day and yet Genesis was still working to beat him. He had to wonder...where these rivals still friends or perhaps enemy now? And just how powerful was this friend if even Genesis could not beat him? Questions. Questions. Questions....and yet the one that came out Deshi's mouth was simple.
“Your rival must be very powerful if someone at your skill level is still working to beat him. What is his name?” Deshi asked and then after a moment nodded at Genesis’s last words.
“This is very true. Shall we close this sparring session for now and wait until the day we cross blades fully? Or do you wish to continue where we left off?” Deshi asked as he remained in his relaxed position observing the man he was beginning to call friend and ally.

There was something about the white-haired man that Genesis was unable to put his finger on. Actually, there were a lot of things that the Crimson SOLDIER was unable to figure out, but the most obvious thing was the strange power within this young man's heart. There were not many people out in the sea of stars who were able to wield both that of Light and Dark and though this man seemed to be one of the very few who could. Though he mostly felt like he belonged and used the Light as his main source of strength, it wasn't quite strong enough to block out everything. The Darkness took control of people in different ways it would seem. While it didn't seem to have much effect on the SOLDIER 1st Class, at least not anymore, it seemed a different matter to Deshi altogether. Something about how he was lacking emotion. It was more then likely a thing he had from being in combat for so long. An emotionless opponent was usually harder to fight against. Perhaps if this white-haired man's Darkness took hold of the reins, he'd become a different person? Perhaps showing emotion opened the door for whatever was inside him to awaken and strengthen itself? It was most curious, and while Genesis was eager to push this young man to see what would happen, he also respected that he was fighting to keep whatever was within him at bay.
Of course, nothing was revealed as the auburn-haired man thought, his ears listening to the words that Deshi spoke as well as listening to the burning flames that danced upon the torches dotted about the arena. The stone pillar with Genesis' Rapier embedded within had had it's torch disturbed, but was still fixed to the ancient looking rock-post and still burning as best as it could. Genesis had to tilt his head as he was informed his guesses were accurate. It wasn't too hard to figure out after having only just fought against this young man. There was so much you could learn from fighting against someone. The thought made the LOVELESS Fanatic wonder how much Deshi had learned of himself during their small sparring session. Deshi was forced to kill due to another person's pride? That made sense in regards to arena fights as the white-haired man claimed he had grew up around. it must have been a tough life, waking up in the morning and knowing that it was going to be your last day alive unless you killed the man standing across the arena from you. It was a lot like the war against Wutai back on Gaia. There was no hope of peace between the two fractions and unless you killed them, they were going to kill you. And for what? Mako energy...?
The hands hidden behind the Crimson SOLDIER's back clenched into tight fists at the thought of being used. Being manipulated... being lied to. It was unforgivable. "You say you're 'away from it', yet here you are, in another arena, fighting against another stranger." It was only after the Crimson SOLDIER spoke those words did he ask himself why he did speak them. Perhaps it was his own Darkness raising to the surface. That tickling in the back of the LOVELESS Fan's mind wanting to see what Deshi could do when his own Darkness took over him, perhaps? "Fortunately, this is just a training session." He quickly added on, smiling across the arena towards the white-haired man as his fists finally loosened up back into open palms. What came next didn't come as much of a surprise. Being used and finding out about it was not something so easily shrugged off. It was the reason why Genesis himself rebelled against Shin-Ra, though by the sounds of it, Deshi was far more successful in his own quest for revenge. "With someone of your skill with a sword, I'm not surprised. We're much alike, you and I. Perhaps we'll both find our purposes walking the same path? Though where does your path take you after here?"
The white-haired swordsman appeared keen to learn more of what Genesis himself was like, but each to their own, there was only so much that the young man was going to get out of the SOLDIER from asking questions alone. No, the pair of them had only just met and while everything between them was going smoothly as far as the eye could see, Genesis knew that many people out in the sea of stars were concern about which side of the war he actually stood on. Many a time when the war between Light and Dark had spread across the worlds, Genesis had been seen standing on both sides. Deshi may well be exactly the same and could have been sent from a greater power to interrogate him? It was a farfetched idea, but who truly knew? "His power is unmatched to all but a handful of people. His name is Sephiroth, he wears clothes like mine, has really long silver hair and wields a sword known as Masamune." The LOVELESS quoter described. He fell silent for a moment as he looked at Deshi with a stern, serious expression. Was the white-haired man much like himself and the thought of facing a powerful opponent was too much to hold at bay? "I warn you, he is insane and evil beyond description. If you ever see him, you run away. Do not look at him. Do not talk to him. Do not fight him. Just run for your life and do not stop running until your feet are bleeding. He WILL kill you."
Deshitana's question of wanting to end or continue their small sparring session was met with a cold, blank stare. The Crimson SOLDIER watching the white-haired man like a hawk to see whether or not his words would reach his ears. Perhaps he had already said too much? Hopefully this man was as smart as he was skillful with his sword and would heed the SOLDIER's advice and remain a constant safe distance away from the One Winged Angel? It was impossibly to say. Hopefully the latter. This Deshi seemed a friendly enough person and it would be a shame for Sephiroth to acquire another name on his list. The cool breeze passed by once more, causing the torch flames to dance in the wind's direction, dimming the arena itself by the smallest degree. Finally an answer came to the question and Genesis smiled slightly as he pulled out his right arm from behind his hand, holding out his hand towards Deshi as if he were about to grab a horizontal pole or handle. Sure enough, a flash of light emerged from before him as the Rapier was summoned back into his grip, causing a few pieces of rubble and debris to tumble from the stone pillar down onto the floor. However, the Rapier was lowered to his side as the LOVELESS Quoter relaxed his arm. "My friend, the fates are cruel. There are no dreams, no honor remains. The arrow has left, the bow of the goddess." Left arm raised after speaking the passage, the crimson gloved index finger was twitched at Deshi to provoke him to attack, followed by a smirk spreading across Genesis' face.

Whether the emotion was shown or not on either of the men’s faces, whether or not they spoke what they had learned of each other, curiosity was an energetic emotion felt as easily as fear, tension, or hate. These sort of emotion didn’t need a physical representation to know it was there. It was just known; however, unlike the negative emotions, curiosity was a double edged emotion and far more dangerous. On one hand, the curious could ponder this or that, perform a test to see if a theory was right, or even poke and dig until answers were given. Sometimes these methods gave good results pleasing to the questioning mind and sometimes they brought up more questions and confusions. Curiosity was the source of wonder and agitation. A wonderful…and horror filled thing. For you see curiosity, on the opposite hand, could lead to pain, suffering, and sometimes death. It was a contradicting emotion that relied heavily on circumstances and reactions to turn things from good to bad and back again.
Like now for example. While Deshi had learned much from the brief spar with Genesis, he still wanted to know what else the man could do. What would happen if he was pushed to the edge of his limits? Would he remain calm and controlled or would he lose it and become enraged? It was tempting to test, but for now he did not do anything to test the man. No, he would have to tread carefully here for both their sakes. Already the Void was stirring thanks to the injury on his arm, so if the battle were tot get more intense, he’d have to be careful to not get swallowed up in the fight and open an even bigger hole in his defenses for the Void to slip through. The creature was already a struggle to keep down. It wanted to play and see what this new found being could do. See how much of a masterpiece he was or if perhaps the man before them was junk. Curiosity in a deadly form. The mental struggle was hard, but Deshi’s face and body language remained neutral all the while as he study the crimson warrior before him. As the man spoke, he smiled slightly.
“Yes. Away is a vague word isn’t? Battle clings tightly to those it is familiar with. It won’t let go easily, but in time maybe I can put down my blade forever,” he said calmly as he looked over Crimson Rose for a moment and then looked back over at Genesis, the smile become a slight smirk as slight trace of amusement and curiosity crossed his face. “But then again, you can’t learn if you are not willing to fight for it, right?” His words were calm, but there was something in the way he said them. Something behind that smirk that suggested that the words were not Deshi’s, but another’s. The change was a brief one and then Deshi blinked breaking eye contact as the smirk fade and return to a slight smile as he nodded at Genesis words.
“Fortunate indeed,” he responded back as he was able to look back at the crimson warrior again. His slight smile turned into a genuine smile in response to the other’s smile and then just as quickly as the small emotion was shown it faded away, but not completely. Despite not showing it on his face, Deshi remained friendly and slightly open to the warrior. It didn’t mean he’d share everything with this man, but at least for the time being the man had a friend.
When the man spoke again, Deshi looked down at the ground pondering the words. Similar they were and perhaps working with someone that did indeed understand him would be wise. Perhaps this one could keep him in check a lot better than the freelancer back in Twilight Town. The alliance was definitely ideal. Maybe…just maybe.
“Perhaps we can. If you are willing to walk the path with one such as I,” he said after some consideration before he returned his gaze to the man and answered his second question. “The path is blurred, so I do not know where it may take me next, but wherever it does take me, I’ll simply have to adjust to what I find there until all answers have been found.”
The answer was true. He really had no clue where the path would go however….he didn’t care where he had to travel as long as he was able to find his purpose and find a way to control the Void. It was laughable and impossible by the Void’s standards. It kept telling him, he could never be rid of it because it was part of him, but somewhere deep inside, Deshi knew that sort of talk was wrong. He didn’t know where he would find the answers, but he’d find them no matter what it cost him. He would prove the Void wrong yet.
Anyway, Deshi remained quiet for a while longer not really paying any mind to Genesis’s careful and cautious eye. He couldn’t say what was going on in the man’s head or how he felt about what he said up until now. While he had shared the basics with him, he truly did not know this man and the man did not know him. He supposed if they did end up working together, the Void would eventually show itself; however, if this was going to be sooner rather than later he could not tell. The being was ever present even now and yet…something told Deshi that the crimson warrior wouldn’t mind meeting the Void, but why someone would want to meet the murderous mad man was beyond Deshi. Was he then seeking to use him too? It seemed unlikely, but the slight suspicion was there. Despite the slight ting of distrust, Deshi was still willing to give the man a chance to prove his suspicions wrong or not. After all, this was s first meeting and he was sure that Genesis had his own misgivings about him, so who knew where this budding friendship and alliance would lead.
Silence remained in the area for a few more minutes and then the man was speaking again, answering his question about the rival. He listened carefully as a familiar name came up again. Sephiroth…one of the three silverheads that Felix had told him about. Hmmm…interesting. Unmatched power, clothes similar to Genesis, silver haired, Masamune….alright. Well, at least he could match him up better with this description than the one Felix had given him.
“He sound like fun. A interesting piece of art to pull apart especially if he is as entertaining and interesting as this one. Perhaps we should seek him out. Put our skills to the test, hmm? See if he really is powerful, hmmm?”[/color] the Void, its interest intensified, spoke to him; however, Deshi did not answer it back.
Instead, he kept his eyes on Genesis, meeting the stern, serious expression with calm coolness. The idea of such an opponent was tempting to go after, but something about this change in attitude from Genesis told him to take caution, The words that followed only confirmed this suspicion.
As he listened to the words, the Void chuckled with glee within him seeing the opportunity too good to pass up. Could this man’s insanity match its own? Could he create art as beautifully horrifying as he could? Could he really make him a piece of art? The crimson clad man seemed think so. It was intriguing. They really should find this Sephiroth and find out for themselves. Yes. Yes. This was a good—hm? What was that? The Void fell silent long enough to hear a single word from Deshi's. No.
An answer that was simple and final. The Void tried to protest, but Deshi pushed the creature back and became calm once more. Whether or not the Void loved violence and death and its art, this was still his body and more or less his life. He wasn’t going to just throw it away, so the Void’s could forget its plans to find Sephiroth. Pouting, the creature went back to the corner of his mind and simply watched and listened to whatever happened next.
A moment of silence had passed and then Deshi was asking his question about the spar to which Genesis gave him a cold, blank stare that was enough to set the normal person on edge; however, used to such stares and lacking in the fear department, Deshi met it calmly before responding.
“I’ll keep your words in mind should I run into your rival. Thanks for the tip,” he told the man and then fell silent as he watched Genesis for a moment. A breeze passed by once more, slightly dimming the arena as the flames swayed with their partner. After another second, Genesis smiled slightly as he moved his right arm from behind him and held his hand out towards Deshi as if he was about to grasp something. Summoning something else or perhaps his weapon? Deshi’s eyes flickered to the spot where Genesis Rapier had been only to see it vanish and reappear in its owner hand as the sound of falling rubble and debris reached his ears. Deshi prepared himself for an attack, but instead found none coming as the man kept the weapon lowered at his side, his positioning relaxed.
Deshi tilted his head at this and then listen to the words Genesis spoke. A poem? Or a warning of things to come? Hmmm….he guessed in time he’d find the answer to that too. Right now, he had to focus. Genesis was smirking and gesturing for him to come at him. First strike hmm? Deshi considered his options before settling on an action. Instead of charging forward, Deshi took a few steps back before snapping the fingers of his right hand, the sound loud in the quiet that had settled upon the arena. After the snap, Deshi held his right hand open as a aquamarine colored ball formed before settling in his open palm. He gripped the cool ball as it glowed slightly in the darkness and then Deshi was tossing it underhanded in Genesis's direction.
As the ball flew through the air it would unexpectedly burst into four chains made of water, coming from various angles to try and grab the man wherever he may move. As the chains went into action, Deshi stepped back into a Corridor disappearing from his spot as the portal closed. The exit to the portal appeared above and at a angle behind Genesis. Deshi came out of this corridor falling at a diagonal towards Genesis with his sword raised above his head. When he was within range, he would swing down upon Genesis aiming to hit him with a heavy diagonal slash with the blunt side of his sword. Perhaps with the aquatic chains as a distraction, he’d get a hit in; however, he would still be pleased even if the crimson warrior dodged all the chaos somehow. __________________________________________________________________ ~Cooldown~
~ Water:[/u] An aquamarine colored ball appears in Deshi’s hand at the snap of his fingers. When thrown this ball turns into a series of four chains that tries to grab a target no matter where they are. If any of the chains grabs a target fully or not, the other chains automatically attempt to wrap around the target and bind them wherever they may be. If successful a person is bound and cannot move for 1 post, giving Deshi the time needed to move to your location and attack or make another battle plan. 3 posts to reuse. Besides getting wet and minor bruises these chains don’t hurt anyone.
~ Corridors of Darkness: Not an attack just a simple way of traveling. It is mentioned because he can summon these at will and uses them to move to other places on the battlefield at times. If used to move on the battlefield, it takes 3 posts for him to summon them again.
