After a breather, Pete rolled onto his stomach and began to crawl toward the Dark Corridor. It was only a few feet away, it would be impossible to not reach it unless-
Swift scolded Pete for running away. This just made Pete crawl faster. He had to get out, or else his goose would be cooked for sure. He was so close! Only a hop away from freedom! With just a bit of effort, he'll be home free!
He could hear Swift coming though, if that oaf got to Pete he'd put a stop to his escape! Doh- got to go faster! Come on Pete, you can carry yourself can't ya!? Move it fatty move it move it move it! He's getting closer Pete! Oh inches away, just stick a hand out or something! That's it, a bit more! An inch more and-!
Poof, Pete was gone. Not because the corridor though, he didn't even touch it. An outside force saved Pete this time, leaving Swift alone in the Court with his flying pig pal. The corridor, now disconnected from its creator, faded away into nothing. Once again the day is saved thanks to the forces of light, though who knows for how long?
Pete slowly opened his eyes, though saw nothing but the dark. Seconds later, a bright light opened up above him, momentarily blinding the cat. Pete rubbed his eyes and looked around. Despite the black light, Pete could see nothing but darkness. He could tell he was sitting in a shabby metal chair, but other than that he could see nothing. Another light switched on in front of him, revealing a desk with a shadowy figure behind it. "H-hey! What the heck's goin' on here?" Pete exclaimed, confused by this strange turn. The man was silent, his hands folded and his elbows rested on the desk's surface. If only Pete had a better view.
Pete was about to shout up a storm when the man spoke up, "Tsk tsk tsk dear Pete, you really screwed up down there." Pete was taken aback, what nerve this fellow had! He wished to give him quite a zinger, but he couldn't build up the courage. The man had a strange aura about him, it intimidated Pete. Almost scared him. All he could reply was, "H-h-hey!" The man chuckled, "You must be more careful Pete, how am I supposed to get use out of you if you're dead?" Pete tried to jump up at that but found himself stuck to the chair he sat in. After struggling for a bit he just pointed a fist out and said, "Now see here, I don't know who you think you are but let's get one thing straight! I ain't used by nobody! Ya hear!?"
The man cackled, "Your lack of grasp on the concept of irony is both titillating and nauseating. You have so much potential Pete. If you would just stop punching everything you saw and think for a moment, you might just learn something." Pete grunted, tightening his fists as the man began to scribble something down. "Here, because I like you I'm gonna give you a tiny push. Send ya in the right direction, ya know?" After putting down his pen, the man crunched up the paper he was writing on and threw it at Pete. Pete caught the paper ball and crunched it further in his fists. "Who...who are you anyhow!?" The man leaned forward into the light, revealing a ghastly sight. The man had no skin, he was a perfectly clean skeleton wearing a black suit with a red tie. Pete raised his eyebrows as the skeleton snapped his fingers, "I'm your new pal George."
Pete blinked and found himself someplace new. He didn't recognize his surroundings, though he could see a lot of snow. He looked to his hands and was surprised to see the paper ball still clenched in his fists. Reluctantly, he unwrapped the ball and read what it said: You can be anything. Just take a look, it's in a book. Seriously, go to the library on this world and read for once. You might learn something. Personal recommendation: The Dream Theory. Lots of love, George. xoxo Pete crumpled up the paper and threw it in the snow. Library? Library's were for chumps. Besides he had a job to do...except. Who was that guy? Would reading that book explain anything? Perhaps, perhaps not. Agrevated, Pete decided to give in and went off to find this library...thing. Hopefully his curiosity wont kill him.
