He still had pictures to take after all and he was getting more and more interested in this mansion with each passing minute. That wasn’t all that interested him though; Deshitana’s problem also intrigued him and thus spending more time with the fellow seemed prudent in finding more out. Not everything had been explained to him in full detail, something the freelancer wasn’t too surprised about since it wasn’t exactly easy to trust someone you just met. If anything it was better that way, Felix always enjoyed a good mystery and solving the mystery of Deshitana’s little problem did sound like a good time. Plus the client didn’t know all the details himself anyway so perhaps another reason he didn’t go into complete detail was because he didn’t wish to give the freelancer incomplete information. Indeed, such information was dangerous since it could lead to incorrect assumptions if Felix ran with the info and attempted to make sense of it all. Whatever the case, the freelancer would have to do some research after this trip to the mansion was over and see what he could find out from his own sources. If he was lucky, perhaps one of said sources had dealt with a case similar to this one and could guide him in the right direction towards finding a permanent solution. Cause treatment isn’t a viable option, |
he started mentally looking at Deshitana as he began to mess around with buttons, Even if this guy isn’t that strong if there’s something inside him that could turn him into a lunatic at any moment than he could certainly cause a lot of pain and suffering. While I’m no hero, needless violence isn’t something I approve of especially if it could mean someone that may one day be my client gets hurt. Or even worse if he happened to be on Radiant Gardens and came across her during a rampage of his… he thought, trailing off as morbid images flooded his mind. He gritted his teeth behind a frown on his face, clutching his temples in between his right hand as he breathed in deeply with his nose before releasing it out his mouth. It was a silent sigh that he didn’t allow to be heard, not wanting to show any more signs of weakness that Deshitana may have already picked up on earlier. While the white-haired warrior had said nothing of them, it was best to remain confident and steadfast in front of a client otherwise they’ll quickly lose any trust invested in you. Yes, he couldn’t let his own weakness show, not in front of Deshitana or anyone else lest it be taken advantage of one day. There was no way he would get her involved with his work; he wouldn’t allow anyone to know of her condition unless he was certain they could help. Although I did let one person know, he mused, recalling a certain winged keybearer he had met in Twilight Town some time ago, To be fair though I was pretty distraught. I had been awake for the past three days searching for anything that could cure her, some magical herb, some healing spell, some skilled physician, or even some witch doctor would have worked for me. Yet despite all my searching my efforts were in vain and it was always the same result, her death was imminent and all anyone could tell me was that I should prepare to accept it. Problem is they never tell me how to do so, how can I accept that the most kind and caring woman I will ever know will be leaving my life? How can I accept that despite all the strange things I’ve run into during my time as a freelancer? I’ve seen giant beasts only mentioned in fables, creatures with the power to decimate a town with a flick of their wrist, and have even fought against a beast that could have destroyed the entire universe. How can I accept that despite seeing creatures with the power to destroy the universe, there isn’t someone or something that can cure a damn disease? And worst of all, how can I accept that I’m completely powerless to do anything about it when I’ve accomplished countless deeds that many would have thought impossible for a human like myself? I just… I just don’t want to lose you, m-! he spieled mentally, finally being snapped out of his thoughts by Deshitana asking him a question. As it would seem, during the time he had been sucked up in his thoughts Deshitana had managed to open a door with the buttons he was pushing earlier. Now the question became whether or not they should explore the room that this corridor would inevitably lead to, a question that Felix could answer without hesitation. Pushing himself off the desk he was leaning against, the freelancer uncrossed his arms as he let his arms rest at his side and began walking toward the recently opened door. Stopping for a moment, he turned toward Deshitana as he shrugged his shoulders and smirked, trying to put the guy at ease as well as get his mind off the morbid thoughts that plagued it. ”Well as the saying goes nothing ventured nothing gained ne? It could be dangerous sure, perhaps have some laser defense system set up considering all the tech we’ve seen here but hey peril is the spice of life don’t you think? I can tell you now that I don’t do the freelancer business just for the paycheck, I do it also because nothing gives me quite the same thrill as fighting a giant behemoth or going into a dark cave full of traps,” he explained, a small “hmph” escaping his lips as his smirk grew a little wider, ”Plus I don’t let my clients get hurt so at the very least you’ll know that whatever we encounter I’ll be taking great measures to ensure your safety… I might not be able to collect my payment later on if I don’t ne?” he added before slipping his hands into his pockets and taking the first step forward into the corridor with his eyes closed. After a moment he would open said eyes and when he did it would seem that he had jinxed himself… there was a laser defense system and it was bright and red. Sighing lightly with a smirk on his face, the red-head would take a moment to examine the lasers and how they were positioned. Nodding his head a couple times as he did so, he began to stretch out and loosen his body up for the trial that lay ahead of him. Once he felt ready to go, he would look toward Deshitana (assuming he followed), a confident grin curving against his lips as he finished one last stretch. ”If you’re not too agile I wouldn’t suggest trying this out as you might trip something. I’m sure there’s probably a switch to shut it off at the end so just give a moment and I’ll flip it although I suppose if you really want to try give it a shot. For all I know you’re like me and like risking your life once in a while to spice things up and get that adrenaline rush,” he explained with a shrug before rushing off toward the lasers. What happened next was a rather graceful display of athleticism and agility, the freelancer slipping through the gaps in the lasers as if he was a ballerina. Dodging, dipping, ducking, diving, and dodging his way through all the lasers, the freelancer eventually reached the other end of the corridor with a smug look of satisfaction on his face. ”Hmph, piece of cake should have had Deshitana take some pictures while I was doing that,” he noted before reaching for the camera in question in an attempt to take a shot. Yet when he did and he brought it up to his face he noticed a distinct lack of a zoom function or a lens, a realization that would have him laughing nervously. Pulling his head back from the camera, he noticed that a good chunk of the camera had been cut off, some low whimpers escaping Felix’s lips as he looked at it with what some might say was the saddest face they had ever seen. ”FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!” and before he could finish that word the freelancer took out the roll of film inside before chucking it across the room. Slipping it into his pocket forcefully, the red-head grinded his teeth as he fumed and clenched his fists tightly. ”Now I got to buy that stupid brat another damn camera!” he shouted and while he planned to scream a few more obscenities to follow that statement, his attention was brought to a Dusk that he had hit with the camera. Staring at it with an empty gaze, Felix would take his eyes off it for a moment to flip the switch he saw in his peripherals, deactivating the lasers to allow safe passage. He wasn’t sure whether Deshitana had already made it across or not but whatever the case he brought his attention back to the Dusk… or rather the Dusks. Indeed, during that moment he had divided his attention, it seemed the Nobody had called some allies, nine others accompanying him in that short time. This only brought a smile to the red-head’s face as he was relishing the thought of letting off some steam and would turn back to Deshitana to speak. ”Hehe you up for laying the smack down on these chumps?” he would started gesturing towards the approaching Nobodies, ”If not I’ll gladly take them all on but I figured it be rude if I didn’t at least ask if you wanted t have a little fun,” [/style] [STYLE=font-family: trebuchet ms; font-size: 9px; color: #606060; opacity: 0.9; text-align: right;]MADE BY AYU OF BACK TO NEVERLAND ( x)[/style]

(L-Lasers?! o.O *Goes to see what you have done* And no problem. I’m sure your post will be just fine. ^^)
Deshi remained quiet in the corridor waiting for an answer to his question. Deshi had not seen Felix’s expression change as he messed around with the computer; however, one thing that could not be hidden from Deshi was emotion. While he did not show his own well, he knew those with a keen sense could pick up the emotions that rarely showed on his face or in his body language, but ran through him nonetheless. It was true that Deshi had been pretty messed up in the emotion department for a while now, making it at times hard for him to understand others reactions to thigs and at other times just plain curious. It seemed that the tradeoff for losing most of his ability to feel, was that his ability to pick up on others’ emotions had increased. A handy trick to for one such as the Void who sought to use what it picked up against an opponent.
The point here was that no matter if Deshi was looking at Felix or not, he and the Void could both sense that something was bothering the man. Something that made him sad or upset. It was hard to say which, so maybe it was both. Anyway, the Void wanted to feed off that negative emotion, dig into the freelancer see what it was that really made him tick. Perhaps pry until he got an answer or made the man break down in suffering. It wanted to explore that strange emotion that was in the air, grasp it and turn it into art; however, the Void could not do what it pleased. Instead, it had to sit in the corner of Deshi’s mind grumbling about not being able to create art as the boy’s mental defenses blocked him into a corner. It distressed the creature to no end, but when Deshi’s defense were this tough, it had no choice but to wait once more for the crack that would allow it to slip out again.
In any case, Deshi stayed where he was, his expression blank as he watched Felix from his position in the hallway for a moment curious as to what made him radiate the heavy emotion; however, like before he respected the man’s wish not to share anything more than necessary with a stranger he had just met. He suppose the more time he spent with Felix and the more their partnership grew, the more open they could be with each other provided this business relationship moved to the more trusting ones of friends that is, but enough about what ifs. Back to the present here.
After the question had been spoken, Felix pushed himself off the desk he was leaning against and unfolded his arms letting them rest at his side. As he did this, he began to head towards the door, only pausing after he passed the white haired warrior. The redhead turned to him as he shrugged, his trademark smirk returning. Despite his best efforts, it didn’t erase the heavy emotion left in the air from whatever Felix had been thinking about earlier. Regardless, Deshi didn’t let the emotion bother him. He accepted the fact that Felix was doing his best to work through whatever was bothering him, so he simply tilted his head slightly at the smirk as he listened to the man’s words.
They were true to a degree. You couldn’t learn anything without being always curious and naturally curiosity came with danger; however, the part about lasers seemed a bit farfetched. Still…one could never tell..especially with this place. After all, had they not discovered two hidden rooms one more advance than the other? So maybe if someone really was trying to hide something down here, then maybe a defense system had been set into place. Deshi just hoped he didn’t activate said system when he turned on the computer. Hmm…
Anyway, the freelancer continued on explaining why he did his job. Heh. So he liked danger and challenges? Common ground then and also a reason not to worry so much. After all, if he was willingly throwing himself into danger then perhaps he wouldn’t have to be afraid of him backing out of the deal…yes? He’d have to see. To see how much that view changed if the Void decide to fully introduce itself; however for now he did not have to worry as long as he was in control.
After Felix had spoken his first set of words, Deshi heard the man make a small “hmph” sound before he continued on, his earlier confidence and cockiness was back diffusing the tense air a bit. Good. As Deshi heard his words, he couldn’t help, but be amused at that. Felix protect him? Now that would be interesting to see.
“No you wouldn’t get paid at all if your clients were to be harmed too badly, but I have to wonder if maybe you are biting off more than you can chew by applying such a thing to me,” he said the first hint of playfulness appearing. Then as quickly as it had come, the playfulness was gone replaced by seriousness once more. He stayed where he was as he watched Felix step forward with his hands in his pocket and eyes closed. Deshi would’ve followed, but as soon as he made his move to do so, he stopped just in time to see a web of bright red lasers appear in the hallway blocking the way. Heh. Maybe he should've left the red button alone. Oh well, too late now. Now, then what to do about this? Deshi’s eyes traveled from one laser to the other, looking at the way they connected before looking back at Felix who seemed to be unsurprised and happy for the challenge the laser posed. He watched as the guy nodded a few times before he began to stretch and loosen up as if he was about to perform some amazing feat. As the man looked over at him and spoke, Deshi simply raised his eyebrows slightly in surprise. He was going to jump through the lasers then? Indeed it seemed the man was going to do just that. Deshi watched as the guy shrugged and then took off towards the laser. The man was athletic and graceful as he weaved through the many gaps of the web. Impressive and something Deshi could’ve replicated…if he was not being lazy at the moment. Instead of dodging and such as the freelancer did, he simply opened a Corridor under him and let himself drop from view. As the entrance closed another would open on the other side of the laser barrier just as Felix had reached the end and out Deshi would come just in time to hear Felix's words and watch as he raised to camera to take a picture of who knew what.
In any case, the freelancer’s smug attitude changed to one of nervous laughter as he moved the camera away from his face and examined it, probably trying to figure out what was wrong with the camera…a issue Deshi already saw clearly. While all that jumping about had indeed been impressive, Deshi (and probably Felix too) had forgotten a tiny little detail. The camera. Maybe as he was moving about one of laser got it. Whatever happened the thing was busted now, but where were the other pieces? As Felix whimpered and did not seem to notice Deshi, the white haired warrior looked back across the area and sure enough found the pieces that had been burnt off. Too bad—Hm?! Deshi turned back to Felix as he screamed out some sort of word, the sound blocking out the sounds of the Corridor closing. After the outburst, Deshi saw the man take the camera’s film out and then placed….erm shoved the film in his pocket in anger before throwing the camera across the room. Deshi followed the path of the camera for a second before turning his attention back to Felix who was now yelling about having to buy a new camera for a “stupid brat”….his other client or perhaps a kid that forced him into taking the pictures? Who knew?
Anyway, Deshi stayed quiet as it seemed the freelancer was far from done yelling; however, Deshi's mind began to wonder about a lack of something. The lack of a certain sound. It was random thought that had just caught up to him and now stood out like a sore thumb forcing him to look at it and examine. That camera…. it did not clatter or break as if it had hit a solid object. No, it had seemed to bump into something with a light thud before falling to the ground. Huh. He didn’t notice it before thanks to being distracted by Felix’s yelling, but now that his mind had time to register this oddness, he turned slightly to look back at the camera just as Felix looked in that direction.
The shell again… he thought as his eyes landed on the Dusk that had slunk out of the wall the camera had been thrown into. As it slunk out, he saw Felix hit a switch deactivating the lasers seeming oblivious to the fact that Deshi was near by and safely across for the moment, but Deshi did not mind if he was ignored or not. He was much too focused on the growing company of shells. There were ten of them all together if you included the leader that had called them.
Unlike the shadows, the shells were a bit smarter in their attacking, so having this many at one time was could be a bit of a work out if he had been alone; however, he was not alone. Felix was here and from the look on his face, he seemed quite eager to fight the new arrivals. Smiling he turned to Deshi and spoke. After he spoke, Deshi simply blinked at him as he turned to face the group of Nobodies coming.
“You take half and I’ll take the other,” he said calmly, his face empty of emotion. Then without another word, he flicked out his left hand causing his bracelet to glow and shift into the elegant sword known as Crimson Rose before moving forward swing his sword in such a way that he herded five of the ten away from the larger group and pushed the shells he had gathered further down the hall to give Felix some room. Once he was at a good distance, he took a swing at nearest of the Dusk. As expected it shifted out of the way; however, it was not fast enough to wiggle away from the following upward diagonal slash.
With a strange cry of pain the creature was destroyed while the remaining four moved into different positions to surround Deshi. Keeping his blade raised in a defensive position, Deshi stayed still as he watched the four Nobodies circle him, waiting for them to make the move. All the while he wondered why so many had shown up. Had the shell he been seeing dash off up to now until caught onto them following it and in turned called up back up? Were they protecting the room up ahead? Or was this gathering the warning sign to something bigger? __________________________________

Or rather in his case it would seem that he wished to slice them up, the man quickly summoning a blade into his hands as he took a fighting stance. Felix let out a small “ooo” at the sight although wasn’t overly impressed with the weapon itself as it seemed a little too… pretty to him. Indeed, the freelancer was a fan of more practical weaponry hence why he used a simple katana, a weapon he was well-suited for when he decided to use it. Yes, when he decided to use it as more often than not this red-headed warrior relied upon his fists and feet to do the talking when it came to battle. His ability in close-quarters combat was nothing to be scoffed at and his skills had only improved during his time as a freelancer. He had faced a variety of other fighting styles, knew how to fight against them, and also knew how to incorporate their own moves into his style. After all, he practiced JKD where the philosophy was to throw out everything useless and only use techniques that were practical.
That being noted, it wouldn’t be any surprise to those who knew him that he shifted into a Muyi Thai stance when confronted, an Orthadox one specifically. While he was more or less ambidextrous and could fight in a South Paw stance, against cannon fodder Nobodies it wouldn’t make much of a difference if he switched it up. No, all that mattered when dealing with these fools was well placed attacks for they had a tendency to slip around blows if one didn’t strike accurately. Not only accuracy but speed was paramount as they weren’t very durable and thus could oft be taken out with weaker strikes anyway. That being noted, when Deshitana had begun to fight his set of Nobodies, Felix brushed his thumb past his nose as a cocky smirk curved against his lips. Bobbing on his feet, the freelancer would motion for the Nobodies to come at him with his right hand, a small “hmph” escaping his lips.
”Come on now if I don’t give you guys a bit of a handicap this won’t be any fun,” he taunted and while he knew said Nobodies probably wouldn’t really register the insult it was of no consequence. Either way they would soon strike, the one directly in front of him leaping forward to strike him or rather slink around in the air before whipping at him with its arms. It was a predictable attack pattern, all Dusks to his knowledge exercising it and thus made it incredibly easy to counter. Thus, when it expanded to once again strike at him, the Nobody would suddenly find Felix’ fist in his face as he slipped past to the side. This easily dispatched the one Nobody as the others came to attack him in near unison but this was also within the red-head’s expectations. Quickly turning to face them, the freelancer would pivot on his left foot and send a rear leg Thai Kick out. This would take out another two Dusks as he would then use the momentum from the kick to carry him backward and once again out of their range. Cracking his neck after doing so, the freelancer’s cocky smirk would grow into an arrogant grin as he shrugged his arms and snickered.
”Jeez if that’s the best you guys can do I might have to give another handicap,” he started, blinking but actually keeping his eyes shut for the time being, ”Let’s see how you guys do when I’m robbed of my sight ne?” he added as the two Nobodies moved to strike once more and from opposing sides. They didn’t make much noise so it was hard to hear their approach but he could estimate their distance from her roughly. Not only that, but with his experience he had a handle on their speed and reach and thus when their next attack came it wasn’t much of a surprise that he dealt with a minimal amount of damage. They both went at him with an arm thrust attack at his sides that landed but with superb reaction time as they landed he would grab their tiny arms firmly with both hands. If Felix had to make a guess they were probably shocked at this but before they could comprehend it much less attack, Felix lifted them both in the air slamming them off each other. He would then throw them both down to the ground as well, slamming them hard against the pavement and promptly ending their lives. And with that, the freelancer would open his eyes as he let out a small sigh and looked at the state of his clothes from where the Nobodies struck him. It would seem the point of their arms was a bit sharp and had pierced his flesh but more so than the slight injury, Felix was irritated that they had made holes in his shirt.
”Man I already got to pay for a new camera now I got to pay for a new shirt?” he complained as he crossed his arms and sighed once more. Looking over to Deshitana he would see how he was faring with his set of Nobodies and whenever finished would slip his hands in his pockets and part his lips to speak.
”Good job Deshi-chan, glad to see you’re stronger than you look,” he started, his tone obviously being playful, ”Hehe not as strong as me of course but hey if that weren’t the case I wouldn’t feel very confident in being able to take care of your little problem,” he teased, snickering a tad.

(No worries. I thought it was fine. ^^)
As Deshi waited for the four creatures to attack, he heard Felix start his own fight behind him. He heard the man talking, being cocky as he was beginning to expect from the man as he taunted the creatures. While Deshi wasn’t sure if the creatures actually understood words, he knew the man would be attacked and sure enough a few seconds later, he heard the sounds of a fight behind him. He didn’t hear any sounds from Felix, but the cries of the creatures and the distinct sounds of them disappearing suggested that the man was perhaps using unarmed combat to take care of the group. Deshi would’ve turned to watch the show, but at that time his four attackers decided to attack all at once. In slow motion, he watched as two bent low and came up slightly to swipe at his lower body while the other two took to the air and decided to try to landed leaping strikes on him.
As the creatures moved in, Deshi took action. Stepping forward, he’d first turn to his left and brought his sword down low as he bent to strike the creature coming at him from below, but also to avoid the one above him. As the sweeping arc cut the creature in half, Deshi continued to move side stepping the second low attack before leaning back slightly as the last high attack came his way. The creatures flew passed him and landed in different locations, ending up with their backs to him at by the time the movement was done. Confused, they tried to find him again, but they never spotted him again.
Instead, all they saw was his blade as it slid through one's back, exited and then arced upward to slice another in half from behind, and then finally came down on the last one's head. As Deshi ended his spinning dance of death, the Nobodies froze in their spot as if time itself held them. Relaxing, Deshi stood up straight once more keeping out his sword just in case more came. Calmly, he began heading towards Felix as behind him, time unfroze and the three struck Nobodies vanished into nothingness once more.
He heard Felix complaining about having to paying for yet another item before turning to face him. As the man spoke on their skills, Deshi simply nodded with a small smile on his face.
“I would expect nothing less out of you, Felix. If you had died thanks to these shells, I would’ve been deeply disappointed,” he said his tones light suggesting that he was okay with the teasing. “I simply hope that you can actually handle me. After all, I am much more troublesome than a shell,” he finished giving Felix a smirk that once more hinted at the creature underneath. There was a hint of malice in his gaze, but it only lasted a second and then it was gone as Deshi regained himself and looked away from Felix towards the end of the hall where the open door was.
“Come on. Let’s go see where that door leads. Maybe there is something valuable back there since the shells came to greet us,” he said as he headed towards the open door. He led the way to the next area. The pair (if Felix had followed) ended up in a large computer room filled up mostly by the giant computer in the room. As Deshi listened to the large machine hum, its screens dark, he wondered what it was used for and why it was here to begin with. As his eyes scanned the place, he took note of the layer of dust there that clearly said that the place hadn’t been used for a while now. He continued to look about and explore, but the more he did the more his grip tightened on the hilt of his sword. Unconsciously, he was reacting to the uneasiness building within him. This place…it reminded…reminded him of his past. He didn’t like it, but he still wanted to know about it, so he kept looking, keeping his discomfort in check. No need to lose it here. Stay calm,. Right.
Deshi kept looking until something strange caught his eye. It was a subtle glow coming from a crack in the wall. Curious about the glow, he moved over to it and examined the crack carefully. It wasn’t a jagged one or one that was at angle. There was no suggestion that it was damage to the wall for if the light had not been there, he might’ve never noticed the line, so what was it? He examined it a while longer debating about bothering it or not. The whole time he was focused on the crack, he made sure to keep an ear out for danger and whatever Felix said.
Deshi didn’t want to appear rude, but that crack….that crack was intriguing. It was too tempting to resist the urge to see what would happen if he bothered it. So tossing out consequences or how angry he would make Felix if this all turned out wrong, Deshi raised his hand and poked the crack carefully. When it didn’t respond or cause anything to happen, Deshi poked at it again until he was able to wiggle his fingers in it and actually somewhat grab an end. Huh! It was actually a surprisingly thin and easy to grasp. Like a really thin door or something. Hmmm, so what would happen if…?
Deshi began to tug on the crack seeing if the pull would cause the crack to open wider or not. He wasn’t trying to destroy the place, but he was really determined to see what was causing that light. Was it another room? Or circuits running through the wall?
"Fire?" the Void added.
“Now why on earth would I pull this if a fire was back there?” Deshi grumbled in low tones.
"Do you really want me to answer that?" the shot back with a snicker.
“Shut it before you make this guy think I’m mad,” Deshi grumbled back, but the Void just chuckled. Then instead of obeying the command, the creature continued to taunt him with deadly what if scenarios. In response to the taunts, Deshi simply pull harder on the wall. Not getting any results, he paused to dismiss his sword before grabbing the crack again and this time using both hands, he began to pull on the crack determine to get to that light and shut the Void up, prove it wrong as his logic was blocked out by the slight insanity. The Void only laughed at his attempts that were seemingly getting him nowhere, but he wouldn’t give up.
To anyone watching, Deshi would appear to be struggling to get his hand free from the wall, but before aid could be offered, the crack he was pulling on suddenly gave and a hidden door swung open, so unexpectedly that Deshi lost his balance and toppled over. He hit the floor with a thud, but didn’t react in the normal fashion. There was no sign of pain or agitation on his face, just a small smirk of victory that would seem perhaps out of place and random. He did just topple to the ground, he should've been embarrassed, but no. He was smirking; however, the smirk vanished after a few seconds and thenm Deshi was picking himself up quietly. With a light sigh of relief, Deshi looked at the new opening taking note that there was a room beyond. The Void had shut up and was now backed into the corner of Deshi’s mind grumbling at the boy’s luck, but Deshi? He was full of joy at his find, even if he didn’t show it pass a small smile on the outside.
Calm once more, he looked to where Felix was to see what he was doing and praying he hadn’t seen that little slip up in control. He didn't need the guy to have any more dirt on him than necessary. He'd have to be more careful of these lapse in sanity. If things had been rigged to go bad, he could've gotten them both hurt or killed. Thankful nothing happened outside of a strange door opening. Relieved that they were safe, Deshi only observed Felix for a few seconds before he turned back to the door and headed over to it. At the entrance, he paused and peeked in. The next room was bare, pure white, but bright. So this was the source of the light from the crack, but…why an empty room? He stepped into it cautiously still looking around. A glint from the corner of his eye caught his attention and he turned to find himself looking at a strange object that resembled a flower with a strange egg shape capsule jutting out of its center. He walked up to it before standing in front of it, glaring at it coldly.
He didn’t know what the capsule was for, but it reminded him too much of the science labs back home. Just what was going on here? Did this capsule and those shells suggest experiments done here or did it suggest something more? Deshi continued to stare at the capsule coldly, trying to think and place the pieces together while pushing away the bad memories cropping up.
“What are you connected to?” he asked out loud to no one in particular. He wanted to know what it was about the capsule that caught his attention outside of the fact that it reminded him of his past. And how was it that this place was shown to them? Did the shells lead them here for a reason? Or was this whole mansion one big death trap designed to lure people in deeper? He pondered the nature of their situation a moment longer. Something wasn’t right….not at all. But what was it? Hmmm….
Deshi took one last look at the capsule before heading back towards the door calling out to Felix as he moved, his uneasiness becoming stronger.
“Felix. I think maybe we should leave. This place is—” Deshi never finished his sentence as the whole area shook violently causing the warrior to pitch forward and head towards the ground. He landed on his hands and knees and had to stay that way until the tremor passed. After it was over, he slowly picked himself up.
“Are you okay, Felix?” he asked loud enough for him to hopefully hear as he tried once more to get to the door. Had that been a small earthquake or had something actually hit the mansion? There was rustling behind him and the sounds of grounded stone falling to the floor as a light tremor went through the area again, but he did not turn as he continued to move. Was this place about to collapse?
He picked up his pace as he headed back into the computer room where hopefully Felix was still located and was alright. This wasn’t turning out good and his instincts were telling him to leave now; however, he would not leave Felix behind.
"Heh. I win," the Void taunted, adding insult to what Deshi was beginning to think was a huge mistake and his fault. He shouldn't have let the Void get to him and let insanity over-ride his logic. Thanks to the slip up, it seemed that he and Felix were about to pay the price of his error and not in a good way either. He just prayed they could get out of this alive and unharmed...and that nothing even worse came out of this flaw.

It seemed that for once the guy was taking things a little less seriously judging by his tone, this causing a smirk to curve against Felix’s lips. Indeed, it was always pleasant to converse with someone that didn’t have a stick up their bum and was one reason why Felix didn’t particularly enjoy the company of those who fought for the Light. Aside from the majority being penniless losers, they were often broody, moody, hard-asses that couldn’t lighten up, take a joke, and actually enjoy life a little bit. They always seemed to attempt to elevate their actions to doing the right thing as if they didn’t have fun smashing Heartless or any other evil-doers. Felix on the other hand was simply honest about his intentions; he didn’t do anything for the good of mankind necessarily. No, his actions were simply influenced by his passion for cash, desire to fight strong opponents, and his obsession with living life on the edge. Indeed, there really was nothing like the rush one got when their very life hung in the balanced whether it was in a battle or perhaps a gamble would be a more apt word. After all, he had never known with 100% certainty that all the life-or-death matches he had fought would have ended in victory nor had the odds stacked in his favor.
Thus it was pleasing to see that Deshitana seemed to not fit that stereotype completely at the time being although the malicious luster in his gaze hadn’t escaped Felix’s notice no matter how brief. Indeed, while the freelancer was an adrenaline junkie he was no idiot and always exercised caution whenever and wherever. Since he had confirmed that something was indeed wrong with his new client, not observing him closely could prove to be suicidal and the red-head wouldn’t throw his life away carelessly. Yet he didn’t mention it and simply shrugged his shoulders, feigning that he had been unaware of the recent slip-up. It was a moot point anyway, even if he mentioned it that wouldn’t help the client’s situation and in fact may even worsen it. Indeed, if he continued to point out every time the guy lost control, it may just stress him out and exasperate the ordeal. No, if this was a battle for control of his bod y then making sure that the man kept his wits together was vital as well as establishing a better relationship. Yes, he would have to make the client feel more at ease around him such that he wouldn’t get angry or otherwise stress himself out and expand any extra effort to keep his wits in check. And from Felix’s experience the best way to do so was to make jokes and what not in regards to men as he couldn’t exactly flirt with them.
Well perhaps I could if I really tried… I’ve done things a lot worse than that before to complete a job… |
the red-head mused, a few less than pleasant jobs coming to mind. Shaking the thoughts out of his mind though, he would nod to Deshitana’s statement to continue exploring the mansion, following a few feet behind him. Where their path would lead them to would be a rather spacious room with an incredibly large computer as well as many other gadgets. Taking a brief look around, Felix also noticed the dust that had collected on the surface of said gadgets and began to wonder how long had it been someone was in here. Considering the machine was still operational it couldn’t have been too long ago that it had all been used and if so for what purpose? The red-head certainly had some ideas but no definitive evidence had been collected yet to say what exactly was going on here. While that much was true, no matter what it was that had gone on here the freelancer doubted it was anything particularly better knowing. With all this equipment, the notes that they had collected so far, and the secrecy of this place, he wasn’t entirely sure he should know. On the other hand, he was naturally a very curious individual and he knew it would gnaw at his head continuously if he didn’t find out more. Thus he came to the decision to attempt and figure more out and turned his glance back to Deshitana to notice the tight grip around the hilt of his blade. I know I don’t have any sensing powers but I really doubt there’s any threat around now that we took care of those Dusks, he began to ponder as he closed his eyes briefly and breathed out, If there was I’m sure they would have already attacked us by now or if anything had joined the Dusks when they struck. Assuming that any other threat were liable to face in here is Nobodies, they do tend to work in groups so it certainly adds weight to that theory. So why exactly is he clutching that sword of his so firmly as if he were on edge and ready to attack at the slightest provocation? the freelancer mused although once again remained silent for the time being. No, for now he observed as Deshitana soon took to examining a crack in the wall nearby, looking at it very closely and seeming hesitant as whether or not to mess with it. Well not for too long anyway, soon enough the client went to work attempting to pull against the crack with one hand, an endeavor the freelancer couldn’t help but find a bit amusing. It was a bit silly really, surely there was something in this room or one of the previous ones that they could have used for leverage so why was he using his strength alone? Stepping toward the man to see if he could give him a hand, the freelancer stopped a few steps short as Deshitana began to grumble to himself. While he hadn’t picked up the phrases spoke completely, the one bit that had stuck out and caught his ears attentions was the one about being mad. ”Don’t worry mate we’re already well past that point,” he teased laughing lightly as he grinned toothily, ”Although you needn’t worry, I could be considered a bit of a lunatic myself when you take into account what I do for a living,” he added, hoping to make his client laugh a bit. Whatever the case, soon enough the odd fellow managed to open the door, falling back on his ass in the process garnering a small chuckle. It was to be expected anyway, it wasn’t often he got to see the serious warrior do something so embarrassing although the fact Deshitana cared little for his blunder was a bit disappointing. Indeed, the freelancer had hoped to tease him about it but the smirk on the guy’s face showed he didn’t particularly care that he had fallen on his ass. Once the guy had gotten back up though, the glance he sent Felix’s way caused him to tilt his head for a moment, returning the stare. It was a bit odd but after a moment the man would proceed forward into the room he had opened without so much as saying a word. ”Do I have something on my face?” he said aloud although didn’t bother to confirm it as he followed behind Deshitana. Soon enough the pair would now find themselves in a room that was devoid of any technology aside from one odd device in the middle. Not only that but the room was completely white, Felix beginning to ponder if while making their labs and everything else if they ran out of money for paint. ”You’d think with all the money they spent on all their tech they could have got an interior decorator in this room or something,” he noted, attempting to make light of the situation as he examined the device. Needless to say, it was quite strange and wasn’t something Felix could figure out what its purpose was just with a simple once over. The best he could assume in this case was that because it could fit a person in there quite easily that its purpose had to be something like that. Perhaps it was for cryogenically freezing people? That certainly had some merit but if so than Felix had to imagine the room would have be much colder as well as the capsule itself which did not seem to radiate any coldness. So if not that then what was it for? Could it have something to do with all the notes that they had collected so far? Did it have something to do with Heartless, Nobodies, Sora, memories, and whatever else was on those notes? It seemed likely and with that train of thought Felix was planning on continuing but was cut off when Deshitana spoke, asking what the connection was. Looking over to the man, he could tell that he didn’t seem to actually be asking him that question, more so just asking himself as he tried to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Felix attempted to do the same but within another moment Deshitana spoke again, suggesting that they leave but before Felix could respond a sudden tremor caused him to fall over. Indeed, falling on his ass, he rubbed his tailbone as he gritted his teeth, grumbling a few obscenities under his breath. That had certainly been unexpected and a small nod was returned to Deshitana when he inquired on his condition. ”Yeah I’m fine although I may need to get a hip replacement when I grow older a lot sooner than anticipated,” he replied, once again making the light of the situation despite the danger it posed, ”I imagine your fine considering you’re showing concern for me but whatever the case it probably would be best if we would made some haste in getting out of here,” he added and would run to the door alongside Deshitana. Now back in the computer room, Felix made a dash for the passageway that had lead them down here but was preempted by a cave in. Jumping back and narrowly evading it, he gritted his teeth as he slammed his fist against a nearby table, a “damn” escaping his lips at the unfortunate event. There was no easy way to move all that rubble that had blocked off their escape and even if they began to do so they probably wouldn’t make it in time. Not that the freelancer knew how much time they had but situations similar to this had transpired in his life before and time was usually of short supply. Whatever the case, he would look over to Deshitana to see how he was holding up, noticing that he looked panicked but also… remorseful. While the panic was to be expected the remorse wasn’t something Felix had expected nor cared much for. That being noted, he would quickly walk over to Deshitana, slapping both of his cheeks not lightly but not hard as he stared straight into his eyes with a stoic expression. ”Don’t worry about it you couldn’t have known that this would have happened and if anything it’s probably just a natural occurrence of the disrepair this place is in,” he started letting go of the man’s face as he walked over to the computer terminal, ”That being said I doubt there’s much time so staying calm and focused is necessary so get your head in the game. I doubt the types of people who would go through all the effort to make this laboratory wouldn’t also expense the construction of some sort of escape plan. You can try to remove the rubble from the hallway but even if you have some interesting abilities I doubt you can clear it in time. I would suggest if anything you should look for another crack in the walls or some type of secret switch. Meanwhile I’ll work on this thing and try to hack it since there might be something on here that shows us where an escape tunnel is or what have you,” the freelancer explained, attempting to take control of the situation. While he couldn’t be certain Deshitana would listen to him, if nothing else he certainly had to try and ease the tension as well make sure he remained calm. I already got one problem to deal with I don’t need whatever it is inside him rearing its ugly head and messing things up, he thought as he pulled out a flash drive from his pocket and went to work on his hacking of the terminal. (Entertaining as always. Thanks for continuing to post. ^^ I decided to add onto whatever trouble you had in mind, but I was sleepy when writing this, so I hope it all makes sense. ^^; ) This was an interesting balance, this work relationship between the mercenary and the freelancer. If the freelancer could indeed handle the Void, then this team up could be quite nice. While the man never said anything, he seemed to be unafraid of what the small slip ups had hinted at. The Void was malicious, violent, and obsessed with making anything art; however, despite how much it disliked the fact that the freelancer was indeed helping Deshi “get rid of it”, the creature had gone from agitated to quite amused at such a challenge. He wanted to see if the freelancer could really beat him and wanted nothing more than to test these skills the Number One Freelancer was so confident in, but he could not. The boy had a good block on him right now, so all he could do was occasionally slip through the cracks. Ah well, at least he could taunt the boy for his blunders and occasionally snap back at the freelancer that he was beginning to like more and more by the second. He’d be a nice piece of art work. An interesting chaotic piece since he was quite sure the man would not go down without a fight, so he wouldn’t be able to mold him as cleanly or nicely as an innocent one or one without much fight. It’d be a messy project, but one he’d like to take on if he could, but for now he’d just have to be content to watch and learn. While the Void observed, Deshi showed that somewhere under that seriousness, he had a more playful and gentler side that just didn’t show thanks to not having to be used for such a long while. While it was indeed a bit odd to respond to jokes, it did help him relax and the freelancer seemed to appreciate his efforts to some degree. A win win that helped the work relationship grow a bit even though it would take a lot more than that for Deshi to trust the man fully and probably for the man to trust him back. After all, the red-head had yet to meet the third party fully…and when he did meet the Void that would determine just how good this guy was. If he could handle the Void, then perhaps they both had a chance, but for now there would be no true face-to-face meetings between the two. No, he’d only get glimpses of the creature right now. Glimpse that Deshi was happy to see did not frightened the man. Instead, he played them off with ease, pretending not to address the issue at all, but Deshi knew the man was fully aware of the danger. He could read the caution under the playfulness. The man remained on his guard. Good. He wouldn’t have to worry about taking him completely by surprise. Also it was appreciated that the man didn’t make a big deal of the slip ups making Deshi believe he accepted his issue instead of rebelled against it, making the situation easier for the both of them. No stress and teasing, no killing and depression. It was all good. More points for Felix. After the small event was over, Felix nodded to his suggestion to continue to explore and followed him to the large computer room that the door had opened up on. As they explored, Deshi never noticed Felix’s observations of him as he became lost in his own thoughts as he explored. Even when he was trying to open the door in the wall, he still did not notice Felix completely. Sure, he heard Felix’s comment and even responded unconsciously back as he continued to work on the wall. “Glad to…hear that; however, you are…..more sane than we’ll ever be…” he grunted out as his continued to pull that wall. He fell silent as he focused on the wall, determined to get it open. Granted, he could be making this little task more complicated than necessary. After all, there could’ve been a switch or something to open the hidden door; however, Deshi was beyond reason, common sense or logical at that point, so he kept pulling until the hidden door was finally open. As he fell back, he barely missed colliding with Felix who had come to help while he had been absorbed in the task and while the man laughed at him, the mercenary was too wrapped up in his triumph to notice the laugh. It wasn’t until he was back on his feet and looked over to see if he had indeed been caught that the realization hit him. Felix had seen the whole thing. As he turned and met the freelancer’s eyes, his expression became a slight frown of embarrassment…although it could easily be passed off for one of thought. In any case, while the freelancer tried to figure out his expression, Deshi turned away cursing his luck and lack of control. If this kept up, who knew where this deal might end. It was agitating and a bit depressing to be this way, but it really couldn’t be helped. Despite all his efforts to be calm and logic, it did not change the fact that he did indeed have a mad person within him that made him highly unstable…something that was getting increasingly worse as time passed, but Deshi was not sure why. In any case, despite the bad feelings and the even more disturbing signs, Deshi pushed away the emotional mess within him as he regained composure and became calm again. “No there is nothing on your face,” he said as he walked into the next room, his tones calm and serious, yet still gentle. Despite what was going on in him or how embarrassing it was to break in front of someone else, Deshi would simply have to get used to it, especially if Felix was going to be working with him. A challenging thing to ask the usual lone wolfish warrior to do, but a challenge he was willing to tackle if everything turned out well in the end. Anyway, they entered the white room with Felix making a comment on the color scheme of the room. While Deshi could agree that color would definitely do the room wonders, the room was not so bad. . A bit bright, but in comparison to the grey and stained rooms he’d lived in most of his life, this place was decent, so he couldn’t complain. To Felix comment, he nodded slightly. “Maybe,” he said before exploring the area with the strange capsule in it. There was silence as each man fell into his own thoughts, trying to figure out the puzzle of the room and its purpose. The silence was only broken by the question that Deshi had directed at no one and then….the tremor came that knocked both to the floor. While Deshi had went forward and landed on all fours, recovering quickly thanks to the fact he could not fill pain, Felix had fallen on his butt and according to the grumble of words that came from the freelancer, the playful red-head had felt the pain of his bum meeting the concrete floor. Regardless of their differences, Deshi would get up and ask about Felix well-being. The freelancer’s response was one that was becoming common place. He joked about the situation which was rewarded with a slight smile of relief from Deshi before in a round-about way the man asked about him. “I’ll survive,” he said…even though the fall was hard enough to leave bruises later. Then at the suggestion of leaving, the smile faded as Deshi became serious again nodding. Together, they left the room and began to head back the way they came with Felix in the lead. Back across the computer room and down the hall they went only to have to come to a screeching halt as the roof decided to cave in. As Felix jumped back, Deshi had to bring his speed down to zero instantly which almost caused him to collide with Felix, but thankfully he did not as he step back to compensate for the lost balance as he brought his arms up to shield his face as dust and debris went into the air. Once the event was over and the area became more or less silent again, Deshi heard Felix curse and hit the wall in agitation. He, on the other hand, was staring at the rubble blocking their path with a slight frown as he thought. He could easily open a Corridor and take them away; however, that brought a different sort of problem. Felix….what if he couldn’t handle traveling through the dark passage way? What if he was….lost? Deshi shook himself mentally. No, he couldn’t risk that. He already knew what happened to those that succumb to those passages, they became shadows and in turn….had to be destroyed. Deshi folded his arms and bit his thumb nail as he ponder the situation. There was no way to get through the rubble in a quick fashion. Even with his small amount of elemental powers, nothing in his arsenal was nearly strong enough to clear it all away. On top of that, he didn’t know how much rubble was actually behind what they saw, meaning he could tire himself out cleaning it away or cause even more of the hallway to crumble if the rubble was indeed supporting something. So what to do? No corridor. No digging. He closed his eyes, squeezing them tight as he tried to think through the fog that the taunting Void was causing in his mind. Perhaps it was this expression that caused Felix to believed he was panicked or feeling remorseful, when in fact the only thing he was trying to do was concentrate. He had gotten over the regret, when they began to move. In any case, as he was trying to think up a Plan X, he did not see Felix look over at him nor did his fog clouded mind register the man’s footfalls as he moved towards him. What did register clearly was the slap. When Felix’s hands made contact with his face, the instinctive response was to lash out as his eyes snapped opened, their brown coloring melting into grey as the Void slipped in to attack the threat. Fury and malicious intent were there and the boy even raised a fist to strike the man for even daring to slap him; however, the intended move was halted as the pair’s eyes met. The Void searched the freelancer’s eyes for something and then finding what it sought, the creature’s was able to reel in its violent nature and relaxed, letting the raised hand drop back down to its side as the grey eyes became steely. No. Not yet, the Void thought as he observed what one day might be his prey. He listened to the words, letting the boy sit near the surface of the mind and listen too. The man was telling the kid not to worry about the blunder and in response, the Void nodded. The guy had a point. This place was old and it could easily fall if the wrong thing was messed with, but the Void highly doubted the door had anything to do with it all. No that tremor was suggesting something else. A something that the Void could not ponder as it continued to listen to the boy. In any case, the brief meeting ended as the man let go of Deshi’s face and turned back to the terminal. The Void willingly settled back slightly lining itself up with the boy, allowing him to once more share power with him much like it had done in Halloween Town. Again, the sharing was confusing, but as of late the slip ups in personality had increased, but in turn, the Void at times was willing to share the space with him. Deshi wasn’t sure if this was the Void’s way of trying to get him to trust it before striking or something else. In any case as odd as the behavior was, Deshi had no time to ponder it. So shaking his head to clear it, he focused on Felix’s words as his right eye returned to its normal brown color once more and the left remain grey. For now, he would let himself stay in the inbetween state. Anyway the guy, what was his name again? Felix? Yeah, so like Felix was talking about escape routes and suggesting Deshi look for a crack or secret switch that could get them out while he tried to hack for information. It was a plan that had its flaws, but it was a plan nonetheless, so he supposed he could cooperate with the man…for now. With that in mind, Deshi nodded before speaking. “Oh sure,” Deshi responded back, his tones holding a mix of his own calm personality and the Void’s more sarcastic one. The mix made him sound as if the suggestion was the most boring thing ever, but he obeyed nonetheless and began to move about the room in search of something out of place. The mixed being understood what the freelancer was doing by taking control of the situation, but Felix would find that today he had simply got lucky for if the Void wanted to it could easily come out and attack no matter what the circumstances were. Granted, a weaker defense from the boy made this easier, but the Void had other ways of forcing itself to the front; however, today it had decided not to act on impulse and instead stayed at the boy’s side. Why? Well the reason was actually quite simple and selfish. Right now, Deshi and Felix needed to get out of this collapsing section of the mansion, a task that was more important than the deal that had been made between the boy and the freelancer. The body he was in needed to survive and in order for him to insure that happened, he had to keep the red-head alive…even of that was a hard thing to do. For you see killing the freelancer would only make the boy furious and fight harder against him and the Void didn’t want that. He needed the boy weak, so he’d let him make friends and build up hope, so when he did finally win the battle, he could make the boy suffer a thousand times over for his silly thoughts, but enough of that for now. There was work to be done. While the Void thought these malicious thoughts, the creature was careful to keep his face blank of emotion and block the thoughts from the boy. He didn’t need the boy to react to his plans and mess them up. or give what he wanted to do away to these so called “allies” the boy was gathering. No. No. He wanted to surprise them when the time was right, so for now the Void would play nice. While Felix hacked away, Deshi kept up his search until he was distracted by a movement on the screen above him. It was a small screen that would barely be noticed by someone wrapped up in a task; however, for Deshi and the Void no matter how wrapped up in a task they were, they were both easily distracted by any little thing that caught their attention. A curse and a blessing for while the distraction could easily ruin well laid out plans and sometimes make them go off track while doing a task, the shared trait had also saved the pair multiple times, so the little quirk couldn’t be complained about too much. Anyway, the mismatched eyes looked up at the screen that was glowing lightly. As he listened to the clicking of buttons and beeps here and there from Felix’s attempts at hacking, Deshi became hypnotized by what he saw on the screen. There was something quietly moving down a passage way that Deshi did not recognize. He assumed it must’ve been a hidden escape route that he had not found access to yet or maybe one that Felix had found some information on. Whatever the case was, what he did know for sure was that this passage way was not part of the mental layout he had stored in his head of the place. So he marked the location as some place off the map in his head before watching as the white tentacle like object slithered through the passage on the screen getting closer and closer to where the camera was. As it moved, the tentacle rose towards location of the camera. What was that tentacle going to do? Knock the camera from its spot? Tch! Now that was something use…less. Deshi’s thoughts came to a halt as he watched what the tentacle was doing. It rose and rose until it was level with the camera, coiled back, and then lashed forward. As soon as the action was made, Deshi was in motion, heading over to Felix at a quick pace. “Move, kid!” was the only warning Felix was given before he was being tackled away from the computer by Deshi. As the pair tumbled away there was the distinct sound of a Corridor opening somewhere near the computer followed quickly by the sounds of machinery being damaged along with something else that could’ve been a wall or something, but it was hard to say when one was tumbling. In any case, when the pair came to a stop, Deshi was resting on top of Felix, but instead of immediately pushing off of the guy like a normal male would do, Deshi’s move to get on his feet was slow. It was a good thing too. Since as he was moving to get up, something heavy hit him in the back causing the warrior to buckle slightly under the blow as he kept himself from smooshing Felix even more by supporting his weight with his arms. The blow didn’t hurt. Nah, that was the benefit of living within the boy; however, it was enough to anger the Void and his ability to share went down to zero as he bumped the boy out of control and took over complete. As he pushed himself off of Felix and heard the Corridor close again, he dusted himself off as his skin became pale, his nails black, and his eyes shifted back to full grey. While under normal circumstance this would’ve been bad news for Felix, fortune had smiled on the freelancer yet again since the only thing the Void wanted to make into art was the thing that had hit him. After he had finished dusting himself, the Void turned to look at the damaged computer and the new hole in the wall the thing (that he knew was the tentacle) had made. “Hmph. Mr. Sneak-and Run is rude, but useful nonetheless. At least it was kind enough to open a way forward,” the Void muttered as he observed the hole. He could fit in there and from the looks of it led into a tunnel. To the outside? Maybe. He’d have to go find out. Besides Maybe that is where my rude friend came from, the Void thought as a malicious smile spread over it face. It could already taste the blood that would be spilt once it got of hold of the source of that tentacle. Delicious! So now it’s time to—uh-oh! Almost forgot about him. The Void looked from the hole and turned back to look at Felix, its smile gone as it looked over him coldly. “It is nice to finally meet you Mr. Freelancer and while it is very, very tempting to see how much fun you’d be to dance with. We simply don’t have time, so for the time being let’s be friends and take care of Mr. Sneak-and-Run. I’m sure the creature will make a fun piece to take apart,” the Void said nodding as the mad smile returned. Then without waiting for a response, the creature headed over to the hole with a light skip. It didn’t offer any help or show any concern for Felix and it didn’t seem to realize the damage the tentacle had done to the boy’s body either. There was a nice tear in the back of Deshi’s shirt where the tentacle had whacked him, showing that among the scars on the boy’s back a nasty bruise was beginning to appear. An injuries that should’ve had a normal person in tears or at least complaining about, but not him. He didn’t address the wound at all as he continued to walk towards the hole eager to be on his way. At the hole he turned and looked at Felix to see if he had gotten up and come. Whether or not he had come or not, the man was not moving quick enough for the Void. “Come on now Mr. Freelancer. You said you’d protect us and keep us from getting broken, but you are becoming very disappointing indeed. So far you are all talk and while this may win over the boy, it won’t work on me, so why not show me what you are made of, hmm? Prove to me that the boy didn’t make a mistake by allying himself up with someone as simple as you,” the Void spoke, his tones demanding like a spoil kid’s, but look into the eyes and one could see that there was madness and unpredictability there. What would the freelancer do now, hmm?

No, he was looking directly into them so it was pretty hard to miss and while the freelancer didn’t show it on his face, mentally it did make him grimace a bit. Yes, now wasn’t the greatest time for dealing with whatever demon that lay deep inside Deshitana, surviving this ordeal was a far more pressing concern for the freelancer. Not only his survival but that of Deshitana’s who was now a client, a man under his protection, and a liability that he wouldn’t allow to tarnish his 99.99% success rate. He had already allowed his perfect record to be destroyed during the battle at Kingdom Hearts, having failed to accomplish his original mission or be the one to put an end to it. He would never fail a client or a mission ever again, he couldn’t allow himself to either as he needed every cent he could collect to take care of… Now’s not the time for those thoughts, I need to focus on the task at hand myself and not just tell Deshitana to… or rather whomever it is deep inside him, |
he mused as he had let go of Deshitana’s cheeks and moved over to the computer. As he went to work and made his suggestion, he also made note of the odd change in tone for Deshitana, his reply sounding very stranger, more so than usual. Indeed, now more so than earlier, Felix was convinced that the “other” side of him was in total control or at the very least partially, something he would rather be wrong about. On the bright side it seemed that the “other” side of Deshitana was cooperating for the time being, allowing Felix to focus more on his efforts at hacking. Yes, thankfully enough with his USB drive he was able to reboot the computer and have it boot off the USB drive instead as opposed to the computer’s hard drive. Well I guess that really isn’t hacking into it but it sounds cooler that way so myeh, he mused pondering what the password to any odd account on this machine would have been, I bet it would have been something stupid like “Heartless” or “Nobodies”… I would like to test my theory but now isn’t exactly the time for that. This shortcut is a lot better and from what I can see on the contents of this hard drive it’s very well organized and thus… ah there they are, he finished mentally as he began looking over a map of the place. He attempted to read over it rather quickly and get it memorized but before he could glimpse at it for more than a few seconds, he was distracted by an odd noise. Tilting his head, the freelancer let out a small “huh?” before suddenly being pounced on by Deshitana, the man catching him by surprise as he had been rather absorbed in the task. Whatever the case, Felix would grumble slightly as his eyes opened up to see Deshitana above him, his position atop him rather suggestive were anyone to pass by. Indeed, were someone to pass by they would surely blush and with that train of thought the freelancer couldn’t help but play another joke despite the severity of the situation. After all, it was his lighthearted nature that allowed him to pull through grim challenges like this, it helped keep him calm and hopefully it might do the same for Deshitana. ”I-I don’t know what to say,” he started, a red tint staining his cheeks as he averted his eyes bashfully, ”W-We’ve just met I’m not s-sure I think of you in that way. M-my heart just isn’t ready to take it to this level quite yet,” he added, his tone as coy as a teenager being asked out for the first time. Looking back to Deshitana for a moment, his lips would curve into a timid smile as he pressed his index fingers against each other before averting his eyes once more. ”A-Although if it would calm you down a bit… I-I suppose a kiss would be fine Deshi-chan,” he finished but despite his rather convincing act it quickly fell to pieces as Deshitana got off of him and he started laughing hysterically. Sure it was his own joke but he couldn’t help but think what the man was thinking at that rather shocking display as well as what anyone else would have thought. Wiping a tear from his right eye, he managed to calm down after a moment and just in time as the other side of Deshitana seemed to take full control of his body, his appearance altering quite a bit. Yes, it was rather peculiar how pale his skin got, the nails turning jet black, and the eyes becoming even grayer than earlier, something Felix hadn’t been sure was even possible. Regardless, within a moment the demon in question would turn toward him, almost as if it had been planning to leave him behind and travel into the recently made path of escape. The cold stare sent toward him was met with a cocky smirk, the red-head more than used to hard-asses attempting to unnerve him with their pathetic little glares. Indeed, it didn’t make him feel the least bit uneasy or scared, if anything it only made him feel more confident in his ability to take care of the demon. It was often the case that those with the loudest bark had the softest bite and while the red-head didn’t take that to heart, it was a sentiment proven correct more oft than not. Whatever the case, it seemed like the demon wished to work with Felix for the time being, also more concerned about their escape than an epic battle. This was comforting, the freelancer not particularly in the mood to have to fight the demon whilst making his escape, especially when whatever attacked them could do so again. The next set of words that came out of the demon’s mouth weren’t as pleasing though although by no means were they words that made him falter, not one bit. Instead, his smirk only grew wider at the demon’s terrible attempt at taunting him, the freelancer standing up on his feet as he dusted himself off casually and in no rush to spite the demon. ”No offense but you need to work on your smack talk there buddy, I’ve faced countless “baddies” before who liked to talk some smack but yours is by far the worst,” he started, a grin curving against his lips as he set his gaze upon the demon, his expression full of confidence or arrogance as the case may be, ”After all I suffer from a disease known as verbal diarrhea and I’d be distraught if, when we inevitably fight, you can’t hold up at the very least in a contest of wit. I do like to have a bit of conversation whilst I fight so please do make it a point to improve your taunting for whenever that occasion comes, I’d hate to be disappointed. Whatever the case the fact remains that there are more pressing concerns to address what with this place collapsing and the monster that just decided to rear its ugly head. While I’m all for working together for the time being, I’ll have to ask that you stay in front of me where I can see you. I apologize if that seems rude but well I can’t really trust a guy that I’ve just met and considering that Deshitana’s my client I don’t imagine you’ll mind ne?” he explained, his tone confident all the way through. Assuming the demon proceeded first, which was likely considering how eager he was to go in general, Felix would trail behind although allow enough space between them to avoid any personal space issues. Although he might have to change that pace for when he took a moment to look he noticed the rather large wound on its back, a small grimace curving against his lips. ”Also you may already be aware of it but there is a giant wound on your back that should be treated rather quickly if you wish to avoid it hampering Deshitana later,” the freelancer started, his tone seeming rather neutral and calm although a bit of concern was added, ”While I can assume you don’t care very much for Deshitana as a person, I imagine like a parasite it would be much more beneficial if your host’s body was healthy correct? Considering the threat of being attacked once we get out of this tunnel is high, it would be a prudent course of action to take care of that wound immediately. I believe Deshitana has some first-aid supplies with him so if you would be so kind as to provide them to me I can patch him up a little bit. The injury also concerns me because as my client his well-being is of my utmost concern and I would rather not see that injury come back to haunt him. Furthermore, I’d rather not see it become a liability should we have to fight that beast later so I implore you, please allow me to treat the wound,” he explained, his tone incredibly serious despite the fact he was the type to make a joke given nearly any context. Regardless, it was a sound point that Felix made, that should they have to fight the creature that attacked moments ago, being at full strength would be for the best. While time was short, assuming Deshitana had proper medical supplies treating the wound shouldn’t take all that long and they could be on their way thereafter. Not only that but as the red-head had also noted, no matter how evil, crazy, or whatever other adjective this demon was, keeping its host body healthy was an important task. Indeed, were the host to be greatly injured to the point of being debilitated, it would only impair the demon in doing whatever it wished to. Considering what he had seen so far and what Deshitana had told him, the red-head could reasonably assume that this other side of the mercenary was interested in fighting perhaps even mass genocide. It would make sense considering the rather psychotic look it was giving him and thus having its host in good shape would be for the best. In the worst case situation should the wound be far more serious than it looked, it could lead to his death a fate the demon certainly wouldn’t wish for. As Deshitana had said himself prior, the being inside him calling the shots right now wasn’t a “demon” in the sense that he was possessed. No, he mentioned something about data and the people who “made him” that way which would lead Felix to believe that in the event Deshitana died, the dark passenger inside him would also be destroyed. Assuming that was the case, and considering that it was also in Felix’s best interest to keep Deshitana at his best shape should they need to fight that beast, he hoped the demon would comply. Although deciding to give it another push, the freelancer parted his lips to speak one last bit, his tone still remaining as startlingly serious as before. ”Above all else I’m a professional and when the situation calls for it I don’t joke around and do what is necessary to get the job done,” he started, taking a deep breath as he directed a resolute gaze toward the demon whether it had turn back to face him or not, ”My job is to get you out of his body but it will matter very little if I do so and my client is marred beyond repair. Thus taking care of his injures and getting out of here alive is my #1 priority so I would appreciate it if you would allow me to treat him immediately. Help me help you is how the saying goes if I’m not mistaken,” he finished, his arms crossed as he awaited a reply but remained on guard for anything out of the ordinary whether it be from the demon or “Mr. Sneak and Run”. The tackle had saved the freelancer and while the two men were on the ground the red-headed had decided to make light of their rather inconvenient positioning. The Void heard the man and had simply given him a blank stare as he watched the man blush, stutter, and do things that seemed rather odd to the creature and the boy.
What the hell…? the Void thought as he stared at him with a confused frown. Now, it was true the boy was not familiar with the love game or even being hit on; however, the Void had at one point fallen in love with someone and from what the creature knew of love, what this guy was doing was not exactly in the normal box. It was not that the Void cared about the box. No, the creature had seen much of the other relationships in the world and as an artist accepted people’s choices just the way they were; however, he had never considered that someone of the same sex would try to hit on him. It was...
Awkward? Yes, but at least less so thanks to the fact the creature was mostly in control when it had happened and not the boy. Who knew how that would’ve ended if the child was in control. After all, the boy didn’t understand love at all and he was a social idiot to boot. No, this sort of banter would’ve gone way over the child’s head and probably just turn him into a babbling fool. Not something that was needed in such a situation as this. And what was this?
The Void watched as the man added onto the show with the whole timid smile and pressing the index fingers together bit. With his next set of words, the blank expression on the Void's face turn into a mixture of disgust and agitation. He had no time to play with this guy with a building trying to collapse on them. If he had been given time, the Void probably would’ve made a witty comment back; however, it would seem the tentacle that came through the screen, had other plans. Before the comment could leave the Void’s lips, he was whacked across the back by the heavy attack and the fury within was redirected towards the attacking tentacle that quickly made its way back into the corridor if had come from.
Pushing off of Felix, the Void began to dust itself off as the man laughed hysterically at his own joke. Tch! As if it were that funny.
Humans…he’d never understand the creatures even if he had been one in his previous life. They were agitating and entertaining all at once. He loved them, hated them, wanted to see them thrive, but also destroyed. The contradicting thoughts always keeping him unstable and unsure of what he was to do with them all. Regardless of what was flowing through the creature’s head, there was no time to ponder the world or the art subjects he loathed as much as he admired them. They had a crumbling building to contend with and a rather rude and sneaky attacker too. It was time to get back to work and find his new object of interest.
As the creature walked towards the freshly made hole in the wall listening as the freelancer calm himself down, he would pause to give the man a cold glare. In response to the glare, the man smirked and the Void could see his confidence in whatever plans he had increase with the action.
Hmph! This guy and the kid…they really thought they could beat him, didn’t they? Well in time, that would change and he would be the one in control forever…and when that glorious moment came, the whole world would become his playground and ants such as this freelancer would be put in their places. Perfect smears of red across a landscape of black, grey, and white. The world would be perfect then; however, until the time came to fix this artless and dull world, he’d have to play nice and let live what he wanted to crush into fine dust.
Was this a bad thing? Not at all. At least this one was far more entertaining than most. Sure, that confidence and arrogance annoyed the Void, but at least that wit of his kept the creature from getting too mad. He could like the man if he was on his side, but those chances were at the moment ruined. The boy’s sob story had won the guy over to playing the good guy, but he wondered…if maybe the roles could be reverse. Maybe he could find something the man wanted and in turn use that as leverage to get the man to help him crush the boy instead. Hmmm... Another interesting point that could be added to making the boy suffer and submit. He would have to ponder that aspect some more when he was without a new subject to play with.
Snapping back to reality, the Void made its introductions and threw out its offer to work with the red-head. Following that, the creature had moved towards the hole and stopped when the freelancer had not beaten him to the place. Impatient with the slowness, the Void had stated its disappointment out loud, something this man, nor anyone for that matter, would not appreciate.
The creature watched the smirk grow wider in response as the man dusted himself off in a casual manner that only tried the creature’s patience even more as he watched him get to his feet. He wanted to catch Mr. Sneak-and-Run, not let it get away, but at this rate the creature would be a thousand worlds away hiding in some unknown crack! He should’ve left this snail behind, but no, no. That was too easy. He needed this guy to achieve his own goals, so he supposed he’d have to deal with the fact that this man talked more than he moved. A very annoying trait, but what was one to do when pieces were needed to play the game?
The Void shook his head inwardly as a frown appeared on his face. This was indeed trying and the motormouth felt the need to talk even more and not move his feet fast enough. Did he forget they were in a crumbling building and that Mr. Sneak-and-Run was lurking somewhere perhaps waiting to strike? The Void sighed inwardly and forced himself to calm down.
Be calm. No need to rush things. Even if you do lose Mr. Sneak and Run, his face can more than make up for the loss, the Void told itself. The thought made it feel better, allowing the creature to unball the fists it had unconsciously made in agitation. It listened to Felix before crossing its arms as the frown deepened.
“Tch! You speak as if you are even worth the time of toying with Mr. Freelancer. I only spoke facts, so it is not my fault you can’t handle it and if anything needs to be worked on its your ability to do rather than talk. You are really giving me quite the ear ache. I can’t imagine you being an entertaining art piece to work on if all you can do is talk me to death,” the Void said its voice dripping with sarcasm as it rub its temples to emphasis the point. Despite the remark, their was a gleam of mischief in the creature’s as it spoke, making it hard to determine if the comment was spoken out of malice or fun. In any case, the creature didn’t give the man time to figure it out as the expression became serious once more as the rest of the words sunk in.
The Void nodded in agreement.
“Fine. Fine. Let’s just go. Hopefully, Mr. Sneak-and-Run is still around to play with!” the Void said with glee and then turned to proceed into the hole, not thinking that maybe what the man was doing could be a trap or something else. The words and concerns were logical enough. Why worry?
Besides, the Void was just happy that they were finally going to be moving and getting closer to his next project.
Eagerness and excitement flooding him, he took a few steps forward and then paused as the freelancer spoke. He turned slightly to look at the man blinking blankly as he tried to understand what the man was saying.
“We’re hurt?” the creature asked, completely forgetting about the earlier whack to the back. The creature looked at the freelancer’s expression not seeing any lie there, so he assumed that what he said must’ve been true. It wasn’t like he or the boy would notice it, so when he spoke of it being treated and hampering the boy in the future, the creature frowned at the idea of being helped. He didn’t need help, but then again….
He listened to the freelancer’s words some more and considered them. While the creature did not like being compared to a parasite, the man did have a point. He didn’t need the boy falling apart…and that wound was on his back…..hmmm…he suppose he could let him help, but wait a minute!
How did he know about the healing supplies Deshi carried? The pouches on the boy were identical, so how did he figure he’d have such items on him? Did he just make that assumption and got lucky to be right or was he better at deciphering things than the creature gave him credit for? And what was this? He was imploring him to let him help out? That almost sounded like an offer to good to be true. This was suspicious. The Void narrowed its eyes at the red-head, searching the man for trickery while prodding the boy to see if either would give any hints that his suspicions might be true; however, the boy was not laughing or pulling towards the idea and the man’s seriousness and concern seemed sincere, so maybe….maybe it would be alright to trust him a bit. Hmmm….
The Void watched the man a bit longer, listening to his last set of words. He growled at the man's confirmation of indeed helping the boy try and get him out; however, it couldn't argue too much with the logic in the words no matter how much he hated it. He did need the body alive and having it healed up was beneficial, so....
After a few more moments of tense silence, the Void sighed as it right hand reached for the spot where the medical pouch was. Unhooking it from the belt, he handed over to Felix.
“Be quick, Mr. Freelancer. This building and Mr. Sneak and Run won’t wait forever, you know,” the creature growled before turning so Felix could have easy access to the wound.
As it did this, the cold grey eyes wandered to the walls of the tunnel that were beginning to show cracks. He just hoped that the place wouldn't fall before Mr. Slow Boat was done. If he got killed for being nice for once in his life...he'd would be the guy's worse nightmare for eternity. The freelancer had better be quick about this job if he knew what was good for him.
Professional, heh! He'd see about that.

It was a warm and sincere smile, happy that he was actually going to be able to treat his client properly without wrestling the beast down. As he had said in his spiel prior, the freelancer did care about his clients quite a bit and once under his protection he would do everything he could to keep them safe and healthy. Yes, and that was what part of this was job, to protect Deshitana from the dark passenger that resided in his body, to prevent it from destroying him. Had he not made the sound argument only moments ago, he was certain that the creature in control would have proceeded without a care in the world. Despite the blood leaking out of the wound on it's back, it would have ignored the need for first-aid probably in interest of murder or something equally silly. Despite the pain that would inevitably wrack Deshitana's body, he would have brushed it off in interest of destroying Mr. Sneak and Run or something equally foolish. And despite the possible repercussions of such a serious wound, had he not been warned of it it was likely it would get infected and possibly kill Deshitana. Either that, or perhaps the freelancer was being a bit too imaginative in how he believed this dark passenger to operate but it was of little consequence.
No, what mattered now was to treat the wound properly and with that in mind Felix would make his way over to Deshitana quickly. While he didn't enjoy rushing first-aid, the building was still collapsing on them after all which made time of the essence in this situation. That being said, the job the freelancer would perform while effective would probably be a bit painful if nothing else. Indeed, assuming whatever it was that he spread on the wound was a disinfectant of some sort, than his hasty and generous application would probably cause quite a sting. Although if it was a numbing agent that would also be helpful as the next part would be a bit more painful than the last.
"I'm going to need you to stay still during this part," he noted as he would take out what he needed to suture the wound. He would immediately begin working on stitching the wound then, his technique while not at the level of a professional doctor, more than enough for quick first-aid. Indeed, one of the many skills in the freelancer's repertoire that he had decided to pick up was first-aid that could be applied in situations like so. One didn't always have the resources to just use magic to cure a wound or a potion that offered the same effect, sometimes one needed to take care of things the old way. One couldn't always rely on having those conveniences, much like how the freelancer trained his body immensely every day in case he were unable to use his Manipulators or a weapon. Yet that was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, what mattered was stitching the wound and the job was finished rather quickly and efficiently.
"Almost done, and for both our sakes try not to open the wound after I'm done here," he added, a snarky comment for the dark passenger to enjoy. Regardless, he would then proceed to pull out the bandages, beginning to wrap them around Deshitana's chest and diaphram. In return, the wound on his back would be completely covered and significantly safer from infection or opening up. At least that was the idea, although as the freelancer wrapped the bandages around his client another thought nested in his head... attacking Deshitana.
Indeed, this window of opportunity wouldn't remain open for much longer and while the dark passenger probably hadn't completely dropped its guard, any reaction would be slower. Yes, the freelancer had his opponent's back and was already well within range to strike with an effective blow to the head. He could strike his opponent's temple with an attack that's mass was multiplied several times over and instantly knock him out. Or perhaps he could instead knock his opponent over by increasing his own mass and using his body weight to smash him. With his opponent then unable to retaliate, he could put him in a choke and knock him out, eliminating the wild card of this whole situation. The idea was sounding incredibly tempting, to get rid of what was probably the worst opponent in this situation, the random nature of a psychopath. Every step he took, every move he made, he was certain that this creature would be watching him waiting for a moment to strike as well. Yet as tempting as it was... he couldn't do it.
No, it was too risky to do something like that when he knew so little about his client and even less about the dark harbinger inside him. One false move could completely destroy the relationship of trust between them and even if he did it for his client's best interest said client probably wouldn't find the physical altercation pleasing. Not only that but he had no idea if knocking the man out yet would allow Deshitana a chance to get back in control when he came to. For all he knew, the trigger for the beast inside him was stress and the situation they found themselves in was plenty stressful enough. Indeed, he had no idea what had caused the beast to come out quite yet and he couldn't take the time to think back on everything right now. The matter at hand was escaping and perhaps placating the beast inside his client by killing "Mr. Sneak and Run" as he was so aptly named. Worrying about the harbinger's triggers, how he would work with his client, and how he would communicate with his client came later.
"All done," he noted as he placed the supplies back in the satchel and hooked it back on Deshitana's person, "Anyway let's get a move on and as I said before I'll allow you to lead for the time being. If we encounter the creature or "Mr. Sneak and Run" as you've so aptly named him, I'll take the role of a vanguard let's say. I'll keep him distracted and you can attack him when an opportunity presents itself as even with my treatment being careful is prudent," he added and would begin moving as soon as Deshitana began to and match his pace.
Or you can attack me if the opportunity presents itself, we'll just have to wait and see how that plays out now won't we? |
he mused, readying himself for whatever came next. [/style] [STYLE=font-family: trebuchet ms; font-size: 9px; color: #606060; opacity: 0.9; text-align: right;]MADE BY AYU OF BACK TO NEVERLAND ( x)[/style]

(Pfft. At least you posted so I cannot complain XP. In any case, this is just awesome, so let’s have fun with this! =) ) The Void tossed the pouch of medical supplies over to the freelancer as it made the decision to give the man a bit of its trust. The creature still did not like him and made it quite clear they were nowhere close to friends as it responded to the warm and sincere smile the man gave him with a sneer of disgust before it rolled its eyes and looked away from him. All this creature wanted to do at the moment was catch Mr. Sneak-and-Run and not waste time with something like wounds. It was illogical thinking, but that was just how the Void ran. It was used to be being beat up and weak within a battle. It is what made him go forward and drove him into berserker mode. It was the reason he was placed in the boy in the first place; however, outside of an arena setting the creature supposed it was wiser to keep itself not so hurt. It wasn't like there was a medic to come running to its aid should he truly fall, now was there? So with great reluctance the creature let the red head help...even though it was not pleased with the situation at all. Why did the kid have to be so kind to folk, hmm? Why did he feel the need to protect these fleshy beings that were better off molded into beautiful pieces of art for the world to see? See, if the kid understood the power of the art the Void performed, they wouldn’t have this problem at all. There would be no serious injuries. Just minor ones from when the subject of inspiration decided to fight back. He could live a life happy and free of any worries. One where there would be no need to become friends with beings like this freelancer. It would be bliss, if he would just surrender, but oh no. No. No. That was too much to ask for. Instead, the boy resisted him and fought to protect others instead of making them art. It was annoying, but as long as he and the kid were in one body, he’d have to put up with the nonsense and reluctantly bite the bullet when it came to plain facts. Stupid child! the Void thought as it pouted at the thoughts, almost forgetting about the freelancer behind him; however, upon hearing the man move towards him the creature would pull itself from its thoughts as it turned its head slightly to watch the man for the moment to see what he was doing. As grey eyes watched him impatiently, he heard the man’s words. “Hmph!” was all the creature gave in response as if it was saying it was not necessary to say such things, its attitude remaining as agitated as ever. After the small response was made, the creature saw the man begin to pull out particular things from the pouch and nodded inwardly at what he saw. Well, at least he acts like he knows what he doing, so I guess I’ll just let him have at it. This way we can go play! the Void thought as it turned around with a smirk on its face. As the building around them continued to crumble away, the Void kept its mind focused on the dance that would soon be performed. Whether it was Mr. Sneak-and-Run or this man behind him, he was going to enjoy the dance that would be performed to make his beautiful creation. Yes, he would spill the precious red paint to create his next masterpiece. Nothing would stop him. Nothing! Resisting the urge to dance in excitement of this new project, the Void held still as requested feeling the different sensation against his skin as the Felix worked on the wound. The creature could feel the application of medicines used to clean wounds, but did not feel the sting of it. It could also feel the tension and relaxing of skin and muscle as needle and thread entered and exited it as the red-head sealed up the hole in his back. As the freelancer worked, he would notice the Void remain unusually still and quiet. There was no screams or wiggles of discomforts. No curses, hisses, or glares due to pain being caused when the freelancer hit areas more sensitive than others. There was just stillness and silence as the breathing remained steady, signaling the creature was perhaps use to this sort of treatment. However, regardless of how similar the situation was to a medic of the arena working on it, the creature did not even tense as the needle poked it. It simply watched as a crack in the wall ahead widened a bit more and wondered for the briefest of moments if that would mean trouble for them if this stitching up process took longer. As it was pondering this, the red-head spoke again drawing the creature’s attention back to him for a moment. As the creature heard the words, it responded back with coldness. “Then stop making yourself something the boy believes he should defend, Mr. Freelancer and you won't have to worry about that.” The creature’s tone were calm and bored as if it was in trance of some sort; however, one look at the annoyed expression upon its face would tell that this was simply its way of expressing great dislike towards something it had no choice, but to trust. Regardless of how agitated the creature was, it did not attempt to strike the man as he finished the stitching and began working on bandaging him up. It let the man work and at one point out of old habit, had even held a portion of the bandages in place to make wrapping the wound easier for the guy. The whole time, the creature kept a bored expression on its face as its eyes wandered to the ceiling for a few minutes and then back to the freelancer. He was watching the freelancer with a cold glare as he finished his work. It supposed it could give him some slack. After all, the man had handle the wound issue quickly and professional enough and had not given it cause to end his life immediately. The man played his cards well and until he slipped up in the game the Void would continue to let him live. Anyway, after the freelancer had finished his job, he was allowed to invade the Void’s personal space and hook the small satchel back onto the belt with the others. The only movement the Void made was to move its arm slightly out of the way for the man treating the whole ordeal as it treated those in the arena that equipped armor or other useful items to him during specialized events. Once the whole ordeal was done, the Void simply watched the man levelly as he spoke not bothering to thank him as it watched him. When the man began to talk about moving again, the Void’s calm face shifted to one of slight annoyance once more as it turned on its heels and began to walk through the new passageway once more. As it did it spoke. “You were so slow that I am sure Mr. Sneak-and-Run has left by now, so you probably won’t get to play the assistant in this art project. If by some miracle our lovely friend has stuck around your plan won’t work unless you stay out my way. We wouldn’t want you to become part of the art work,” he said preferring to complain than to express he was a bit impressed with the freelancer. The Void continued to walk, taking note that Felix kept up well enough with the brisk pace. He shot a brief glance at the man as he looked him up and down before smirking and turning away. “However, a handsome guy like you might enhance whatever beauty Mr. Sneak-and-Run has to offer or at the very least make up for the loss art work,” he said, ending the sentence with a cold chuckle of amusement as it entertained some thought in its head. From there, the Void continued his rant over Felix’s slowness while somehow managing to avoid or go around hazards that the collapsing passageway was presenting. As badly as the place was falling apart, it was a miracle that the Void was able to keep on talking and power walking through the area without getting hurt at all. In fact, as the passageway began to tilt upward and light could be seen at the end, the Void was still complaining until they finally came out on the backside of the mansion. Here, the creature paused in its complaining and walking to look behind to watch the noisy end of the passageway and make sure that the non-living structure did not take away his last bit of artwork to be. As the rubble filled up the hole and dusted drifted out, the Void glanced over at his “protector” to see how he had fared in the matter; however, whether or not Felix was unharmed or not, the Void would not express what it felt as it simply nodded at some thought in its head before turning away once more. In silence, they headed back to the front of the manor. When they arrived in the large front yard, the Void looked around the area to see if it could find Mr. Sneak-and-Run; however, there was nothing to be found. As it looked first to left and then to the right, the creature poked out its lips in disappointment and agitation before it shot a heated glance at Felix. “I knew you’d cause me to lose my precious artwork, but that is fine,” it said as it turned to face him fully as a smirk of insanity came on its face. “Because you see, Mr. Freelancer, now you must pay…” the creature trailed off as it moved it moved its left hand to the side flicking its wrist as it moved. The bracelet on its left wrist glowed before turning into fine bits of light and darkness that slid into his open hand and began to form into a weapon that was large in size. In a matter of seconds, the weapon became a solid form revealing itself to be a heavy looking scythe that the Void held with ease. Swinging the blade down, it focused its grey eyes on its target and probably would’ve even attacked if something behind them had not distracted it. It’s grin faded as its stance relaxed and the grey eyes locked on the thing that had suddenly swirled into being in front of the mansion. That is one big project to contend with, it thought as it continued to observe the newcomer even more before an idea came to him. Relaxing even further, the Void’s expression turned from one of shock to one of delight before it was looking at Felix with a malicious grin. Now depending on if Felix was looking directly at the Void or had turn to see what it was staring would determine just how much of a shocker the next move was to him. Without warning, the Void raised the scythe over its head with both hands before doing a spin and sending the weapon swirling towards Felix’s head; however, the way the weapon was thrown would cause it to sail over Felix easily enough, so whether or not the guy reacted to it or not was up to him. Regardless of the reaction, the Void would dash forward to close the distance between them with its natural speed as it reached out with its right hand to grab onto one of Felix’s arms. If the grab was successful, the Void would pull the man towards him to knock him off balance as his left hand came around to grab onto the arm it already had captured. With the extra grip and perhaps the element of surprise on its side, the Void would then lean back as he turned and used a lot of strength and momentum to yank Felix off the ground and begin to spin with him as if he was about to throw a disc. “Fly, little bird. Fly!!” the Void would exclaim in glee before letting the man go on its third spin in attempt to chuck the freelancer at the hulking white giant that was in front of the mansion— The Twilight Thorn. Huffing, puffing, and stiff from the effort of throwing the heavier male, the Void cackled with like a maniac before running towards the creature which already had its scythe embedded in one of its strange legs. The Void was pleased now that it had a much larger medium to work with than the human he had just thrown. At least now, it could have some real fun and pay this strange thing back for its earlier attacks from on them for the Void was quite certain this was Mr. Sneak-and-Run. With fun overriding its earlier agitation, the Void kept moving to get closer to his canvas, focusing almost fully upon the creature…making Felix safe from its wrath for the time being. Who knew maybe if this situation went well, the Void would get worn out from the battle and in turn release Deshi; however, only time would show how it all played out. _______ Twilight ThornType: Boss HP: 24 (thanks to 1 being taken off when Deshi’s scythe hit it from a distance).
