OOC: Alright guys this is my first time doing a mission/side quest in quite a bit so I hope this suffices for a starting post XD! Just wanted to get you guys all on the same page and on my next post I’ll just have a bit of a time skip so we can get to the fun part where you battle through loads of Heartless to find the mushrooms ! Since it’s a mission I will try to make it quick and in terms of posting order I will leave it up to you guys. Once you three post whatever order I see it in will become the official posting order and all rules regarding how long you have to post and what not will apply. If you have any questions or concerns please PM Felix and I will do my best to answer them promptly. At any rate I hope we have a good time with this mission and I’m looking forward to what you guys can do ^_^! Members on this mission – Marluxia, Rinoa, and Tidus IC: In Radiant Gardens there existed a special bar, a bar where many of the patrons often posted jobs that required a certain type of person to accomplish. Some were suited to those who made use of stealth, some who made use of their guile and a silver tongue, and some were suited to those who could stab someone without hesitation. Indeed, most of the jobs were posted by outlaws or corrupt figures of power, or sometimes a certain freelancer, often requiring someone to get their hands incredibly dirty. Yet there was one job that stood out amongst them, one job that involved one getting your hands so dirty that the grime would probably never come out. This job entailed that one had to go into the deepest reaches of the Dark Depths, fighting through the hordes upon hordes of Heartless and retrieve something special. One had to combat the darkness quite literally and find three mushrooms that were needed by a certain warrior… a warrior who wanted to continue living. Indeed, said warrior had fought many battles in his life and he hoped to continue doing so but during one particular battle he had a curse placed upon him. He attempted to cure it through the standard means, an Esuna there, a Remedy here, yet nothing seemed to wipe the curse away. Nothing could get rid of it and with each passing day it got stronger and stronger, draining more of his life away with each breath. He could feel it, his strength fading, his body creaking, his bones becoming brittle, and so much more. It was a terrible curse and in one of many attempts to cure it he had come to a great wizard known as Merlin hoping that perhaps said wizard could cure him. Yes, he could remember it like it was yesterday (although it happened a few weeks ago), walking into the wizard’s humble abode and being told that there was a cure. He had never been happier to hear those words but the sentence that followed was rather disheartening… Merlin didn’t have the proper ingredients. Indeed, to get rid of the curse completely Merlin required very potent ingredients and with what he had that day only a salve to lessen the curse’s effect could be made. It would only buy time until the ingredients could be gathered and as luck would have it they were nearby… except they were in the Dark Depths. Nursing a drink, the warrior reminisced on that day and how many warriors he had sent to their deaths in an attempt to retrieve the mushrooms Merlin required. Yes, he had put up the post for this job two weeks ago as he knew he was far too weak himself to go on such an arduous quest. No, he had to enlist the aid of others and the best place to do so was in this bar, or so he had thought. Thus far every group of adventurers, outlaws, warriors, etc, etc, that had taken the quest was never heard from again. It was likely they all died and as rumors began to spread in regards to how legitimate the job was less and less people came to take it up until no one came. Thus, the warrior took to nursing a bottle of scotch every time he came here hoping that someone, anyone else would take the job. He wanted to go back to fighting, he wanted to go back to being a hero, and most importantly he wanted to live. He didn’t want to die to some stupid curse, he wanted to die a heroic death in the heat of battle and thus he was willing to pay any price to get the cure Merlin prescribed. ”Cravens, the whole lot of you!” he shouted getting into a bit of a drunken anger, ”If I had half my strength back I’d teach you all a lesson and get the damn mushrooms myself!” he added, most of the patrons at the bar laughing heartily. One in particular, a big burly fellow slammed his hand down on the table the drunken warrior was sitting at and shook his head, ”You expect anyone to go on that death mission of yours you buffoon?” he replied before laughing loudly, ”Everyone’s heard of how many lads you’ve sent to their death already no one’s fool enough to go down in the Dark Depths after all that! In fact here let’s see a show of hands everybody, who here is willing to go on this suicide mission for this pathetic excuse of a warrior?!” he added, not a single hand rising… or rather that’s what the burly man had expected anyway but fate had different plans in store.

Indeed fate did have other plans for the cursed warrior. While everyone was enjoying mocking the unfortunate man, the door to the bar opened blowing in a few pinkish colored rose petals as the wind drifted in. Following the petals came a man dressed in a hooded black cloak, his pink hair swaying slightly in the wind as his cold blue eyes scanned the scene before him. Everyone had fallen silent as a tension went through the air. Some people began to shift uncomfortably under his gaze, while others began to mutter and point, but the pink haired man did not care. His attention was focused on the pair in the corner. A burly man was speaking to the a drunken warrior that the Nobody figured was his "client" thanks to the words he heard.
Sickening, pathetic, and beneath him. There was no reason to help this sorry excuse of a man when he did not help himself; however, he could not back down now. He made a deal with an admirer of said sad case which involved helping the guy get back on his feet and in turn said admirer would leave him be. If he did not do as asked, the admirer would follow him until he did. Granted, the Nobody could’ve easily left the place through a Corridor and ignore the plea; however, what the admirer had told him of the mission had caused him to stay.
The admirer didn’t know where people were sent to collect some ingredients needed for the potion that would heal the warrior that she adored; however, the mission was deemed suicidal since no one had been successful in it or had returned.
No one returned? Useless fools with amateur skills! They never could get the job done right leaving it to people like Marluxia to prove just how useless and unskilled these “best of the best types” were. Typical. In any case, the woman had told him that if he was interested in the mission he should go talk to a man named Merlin, a wizard of some sort. With a lead and a challenge to overcome, Marluxia had made his deal with the woman not to help her, but to prove a point: this mission was not suicidal. No, these hunters and mercenaries simply didn't have what it took to get the job done. End of line.
He had left and with the help from the townsfolk had found his way to the home of Merlin. He had found the man in a messy two room apartment among many books and after a brief talk, the man had shooed him in the direction of the bar claiming he was too busy to explain the mission and that he should instead seek the source.
And so it was with great displeasure that the Nobody had come to this bar to seek out the cursed warrior. An easy find considering the warrior and the other man were rather loud. He could hear the big guy taunting him from where he stood in the door way. Better shut him up.
Cutting straight through the bar, forcing people to move out of his way or be ran over, Marluxia headed towards the pair. Upon his approach, the burly one stopped his laughing and taunting as he rosed up to his full height, trying to intimidate the Nobody, but a deadly glare caused the man to shrink back and move out of his way. He took his place before the cursed warrior, placing both hands on the table as he leaned forward to be on eye level with the man.
“I’ve heard of your troubles. Tell me what and where the ingredients are and you’ll have your cure in no time,” the Nobody told him, his tones monotone, but slightly demanding. He did not care about the gasps that followed or what the “client” might think of his tones. He was the Lord of Castle Oblivion, if anyone was going to answer to anyone, it would be this warrior to him. He did not have time or the patience to waste, so he hoped the drunk man would cooperate and give him the information he needed quickly so that this small little hurdle could be jumped over and done with.

She had overheard the warrior's problem and she did feel sorry for him. She wanted to help him but because of how dangerous the mission apparently was she really didn't want to do it alone. No one else would go so she too was not going to take the mission on either. At least that's how it seemed it was going to turn out, that is until someone else walked into the bar.
Some big guy was harassing the warrior who was more than a little drunk. Then the stranger walked up to the pair and that's when the big guy stood up taller and puffed out his chest. Apparently he was trying to tell the man to back off with a non verbal threat of violence but the pink-haired stranger just glared back at him. Something in the glare was conveyed as dangerous to the big guy and he backed away. Then the stranger spoke to the fallen warrior offering to go after the ingredients that he needed.
Rinoa got up from her spot at the bar and walked over to the pink-haired man and the warrior. She looked at the pair with a friendly smile. [green]"Hi there. I would like to help too if neither of you mind. I've heard this mission is really dangerous and more people might be a good thing."[/green] The sorceress said.[/style] |

This is not the end, this is not the beginning; Just a voice like a riot rockin' every revision
[/div][/sub]
Just moments before the cursed warrior had made his embarassing declaration across the bar, for any strangers to rock up and help him out of the kindness of his heart, another person walked into the bar. This guy was, of course a certain blond star player, and the moment he heard the last words of the man before the bar fell silent he knew he had found the guy he was seeking out. Turns out Merlin had sent him on a task to help out the Restoration Committee while he was in town, something about a cursed warrior and mushrooms, and to get the location of the ingredients for a cure he was told to head to this bar. He had never been in this part of Radiant Garden before, certainly not a place so seedy it had a lively bar in it, but Tidus told himself this was his good errand for the day. And who knows, kindness wasn't always unrewarded, maybe he would get something out of it even if it was a kiss of appreciation from Yuna?
The guy that had been walking ahead of him in a black-hooded cloak had beaten him to it though, walking ahead of him and demanding to the client where the ingredients were. Who was this guy? Black cloak and visable pink hair, was that what he was trying to hide under his hood? If Yuna was here, she probably would have thought it was strange or even humored a giggle, but maybe it was a good thing that the pink hair didn't leave too much of a impression on her to take after it. Tidus moved to speak up from his position near the doorway, but then a young woman spoke up who was sitting at the bar having walked over to the pair, and not recognizing her either Tidus realized he needed to get a word in before he failed his task the HRBC had set out for him as a test to join their ranks.
"I'll help you out, and not just to prove everyone here that you're right either! Just because it's the right thing to do, and show the rest of you yellow-bellies that the Dark Depths are nothing to be afraid of!" he spoke up. Folding his arms across his chest as he finished calling out confidently, looking down the rest of the barflies who were now adverting his eyes, to look anywhere else out of shame and guilt. He looked across at the cursed warrior, who was probably a bit drunk and a bit cowardly himself to be in this bar and not at the Dark Depths, and replied "Alright, enough's enough. Stop hogging the spotlight already! Just tell us where to go to get the antidote for what ails you, then you can go back to yelling at the top of your voice in this bar all you like."
I didn't know exactly how we were going to be different from anyone else that had apparently lost their lives to go down into the Dark Depths to help this man, since we weren't the first. I'd never seen these people before that wanted to help him, or how exactly they planned on doing so. However, I was going to prove myself to the HBRC that I could be one of their members too, so together with my skills we should be able to figure out something where no-one else had succeeded. Little did I know what was to come... or what I had to deal with. Yuna... did you have to go through this sort of thing when joining the HBRC, too?

After what seemed like an eternity had passed, the cursed warrior let a sigh escape his lips, beginning to lose hope in ever being cured of what ailed him. Indeed, not a single hand had risen to take the challenge the burly patron had issued, all those present more than aware of the danger involved. Not only that but it was wounding to his pride as it was, having to ask for assistance instead of taking the quest himself. Were he in the same shape as he had been just a few weeks ago he would gladly have gone down there and gathered the mushrooms himself. But right now he was broken, weak, and slightly intoxicated, nowhere near in the condition he needed to be to face off hordes of Heartless as he oft did before. All he could do was endure the insults, endure the heartache of not being able to fight back, and endure the curse that sapped him of his life every passing second. The alcohol helped with all that but he knew what despair awaited for him to wallow in once he sobered up a bit and was able to think coherently again. In hindsight I doubt the alcohol is helping my health any, if anything it’s speeding the curse up, he mused as he would turn to the burly man, about to wave him off but was surprised to see that he had already taken a few steps back. Indeed, it seemed he had been scared by another patron, one who caught the warrior’s eye rather quickly and immediately began asking questions. Smiling awkwardly, the warrior put both of his hands around his drink before gulping it down and placing it back on the table. ”Cut right to the chase don’t you?” he started, crossing his arms as he eyed the empty mug in front of him, ”Well seeing as you’ve already been informed of the danger involved in this mission then I suppose getting down to it is for the best. Anyway, I require three mushrooms for a potion to cure me of a debilitating curse that can only be found in The Dark Depths. If you go outside Radiant Gardens from the South exit you shouldn’t have to go far to find the Dark Depths, it’s infested with Heartless. At any rate I was given a map of sorts that I made several copies of and it should tell you what cave you need to go in. Once inside, just keep going down cutting, smashing, or blasting your way through the Heartless and as you get deeper you should find the mushrooms. After you have all three just come back to me and I’ll provide you with the payment detailed in the job posting on the board over there,” he explained, gesturing to said board with his head. Not soon after he had done so though another brave patron decided to step up, this one a woman surprisingly enough. While the warrior was no sexist, it wasn’t very often he saw a woman ready to battle Heartless let alone desiring to do so of her own free will. Beggars can’t be chooser though right? he mused as he nodded to her, ”It would probably be a prudent course of action to take more people, who knows what lays in the deepest depths of that cave,” he agreed and as the words escaped his mouth yet another warrior came to answer the call for duty… if one could call him that anyway. Indeed, out of all the people he had seen attempt this mission thus far he had to admit this man seemed the least like a warrior. In fact, he would go as far as to say the whole lot of them was a rather odd bunch that didn’t seem reliable but if there was one thing that the warrior had learned from his numerous battles… It’s the strange ones that are often the strongest, he thought as the blonde made a rather boisterous display. Once said blonde had finished, a visible twitch of anger evident on the warrior’s face upon hearing the last set of words, he held back the urge tackle the blonde and parted his lips to speak again. ”I believe it was already said quite a few times, you may want to pay a bit more attention there sir,” he started, getting a bit of a jab in before handing the map to the pink-haired man that had arrived first, ”Whatever the case, there is where you need to go and I’ll be waiting here for your return. If I could give you one piece of advice I suggest you take a flashlight or two, as the name implies it’s rather dark around there so it may be prudent to see your opponent and the mushrooms,” he noted, before taking a short pause and adding, ”And… thank you,”X---SOMETIME LATER---X Three warriors would now stand in front of the cave that had been illustrated in the crudely drawn map, the cave where the mushrooms for the potion were. Yet not only were the mushrooms inside but hordes upon hordes of Heartless, varying in strength as one went deeper and deeper inside. If one’s senses were sharp enough, they could even sense just how much “darkness” seemed to permeate inside the cave. It was a dangerous place to say the least and soon after arriving there thirty or so Shadow Heartless would come to greet the warriors that stood in front of it. At first they would seem to be simply observing them but soon enough instinct kicked in and the thirty Heartless would attack the warriors, breaking into three groups of ten. They would attack from all angles in an attempt to catch the warriors off-guard although how successful there method of attack would be had yet to be seen. One thing was certain though, if the warriors couldn’t even handle this minor of a threat they had no chance of defeating what lie inside the cave. OOC: All standard Mission Rules apply now and the posting order is Marluxia, Rinoa, Tidus. Here’s to the beginning to what should be a fun an exciting mission! Now let’s get the warm-up out of the way with these punks and get to the real fun!

Marluxia watched the man smile at him and had to hold back a frown of disgust at the man’s state; however, he kept his face emotionless as the man spoke. He ignored his first comment as he simply watched the man coldly. The man was trying his patience, but the Nobody was at least happy that the man answered his question shortly after the first comment. He listened to the man talk picking out what was important. The ingredients were three mushrooms located in the Dark Depths. He had heard of the place before, but didn’t think he had to worry about Darkness. After all, he was a shell. No Heart. No worries. He was given direction: leave town through the South Exit to said location infested with the Heartless vermin. He was going to give him a map to help locate the correct spot and then from there it was slaying time until he found the mushrooms. Simple enough. With the task firmly in mind, the Nobody nodded dismissing the talk of rewards. He didn’t come here for a reward, he came here to wrap up a task that those with Hearts could not do. Annoying, but at least he wouldn’t be too bored with all those Heartless around to kill. He’d get those mushrooms. Easy. Marluxia’s mind was set as he opened his mouth to request the map; however, it would seem that another decided to interrupt what should’ve been a smooth transition. Marluxia didn’t move from his position leaned against the table as his blue eyes turned to the woman that had spoken. While his face remained emotionless, his eyes betrayed the impossible emotions that flooded his empty shell. He was annoyed with the interruption, but even more annoyed that this woman thought she could tag along. As he took her in, she didn’t seem like the warrior type at all. No, she just seemed like an innocent girl. Harmless….the look reminded him of Namine and that made him boil inside as he remembered the betrayal. Despite how much he wanted to tell the woman off, the man’s next words brought Marluxia’s cold fury to him. As if he needed help from someone with a Heart! If she came along she could easily sink into the darkness that he was sure was thick in the area they were going. She would be dead weight, especially if she could not fight... but then again….if she was like Namine then maybe the extra person would be bearable. Hmmm... In any case, it seemed she wasn’t going anywhere, so he’d just deal with the unwanted company. It would’ve been bearable if it were only the girl coming. At least she had been subtle in her approach; however, the a third had to make himself known….in the loudest way possible. He was announcing that he was going to help and pretty much calling everyone else in the bar that had not volunteered a coward for not helping the drunken warrior, much to the displeasure of many, but whether those embarrassed looks from the bar goers was from guilt or from hearing such an unnecessary and ridiculous announcement, the Nobody could not tell. What he did know was that this new tag alone was already on his nerves just for opening his mouth. Sure, he loved confidence. In fact, he had a lot of it himself; however, to boast what the kid was boasting was like a slap in the face to anyone who had dealt with the Dark Depths or who had a Heart. The Dark Depths were no place for those with Hearts, especially Light Hearts. Did this child not realize the Darkness there would attempt to tear him apart and make him one of the cursed Heartless too? Marluxia frowned inwardly, disapproving of the display and you know what? The kid didn’t stop there. Oh no. He went on attacking the drunken warrior instead, telling him to stop taking the spotlight before asking him….the exact same question Marluxia had asked five minutes ago. The drunk warrior was quick to point this out and speak the words that were on the edge of the Nobody’s tongue. Yes, instead of making a scene he should’ve came over like the girl had and listened. Too bad he had missed the boat and it didn’t seem the drunk man was about to explain the situation again. Oh, well for the boy. Anyway, Marluxia’s attention was drawn back to warrior as he moved pulling out at map and handing it over. Marluxia took the map from the guy as he listened to his words….his advice. To take a flashlight or two. Tch. Fair enough. With the information gathered and thoughts already moving through his head, the Graceful Assassin nodded as he stood up to his full height and began to head away from the table with the map in hand. As he began to walk, he heard the warrior say thank you. Thank you. The Nobody didn’t hesitate in his walking, but in his mind he actually appreciated the simple phrase. Thank you…it tugged at something within his memories, but the Nobody didn’t let his mind linger on that too long. No need for distracting thoughts. **
Introduction and a flashlight gathering later, Marluxia knew the names of the people he was reluctantly calling team members: Tidus and Rinoa. They seemed willing enough to work from their display at the bar, but it had been a very long time since the Nobody had dealt with a team settings. Back in the Organization, Xemnas had sent him on missions with others, but the people he was sent with knew what they were doing and he knew those people well enough. So, while he could work in this sort of setting, he didn't know much about the pair with him and only worked on the assumption that they could fight since they had tagged along. There was no proving this point yet, so the Nobody had to play this game by ear. Not the best of ideas, but the only one he had at the moment. Moving along. Since he had the map, he led the way to the cave and by some miracle he had found the place despite how horribly the map was drawn. He began to wonder if the man had just drawn the thing before he stepped into bar. Anyway, it mattered not. They were here now. Marluxia paused a safe distance away from the cave scooping out the area as he stuffed the map into a hidden pocket. The place reeked with Darkness, but he didn’t mind. As a Nobody, Darkness was familiar company thanks to the Corridors, so as he scanned the area his face remained emotionless. Seeing no threat, he headed towards the cave with his allies; however, as soon as they approached the entrance, the Heartless came to greet them. Marluxia watched as the mass split into three groups of ten coming from different angles in an attempt to swarm them. Not going to happen, Marluxia thought as he summoned his scythe and took a step back. He didn’t like having to do what he did next, but with three groups coming from every angle and two people who had yet to prove their worth to him with him now, he really didn't have a choice. He was not about to do this alone and let the others sit there and reap rewards for doing nothing. Time to see how useful they were then. “Rinoa take the left, Tidus the right, I’ll take care of the ones before us. If we watch each others' backs these little ones will go down with ease,” he said giving a simple command to his group in calm tones before he stepped forward to greet the first few attacking Heartless with a horizontal swipe. Following the swipe, he brought his scythe back up in a upward diagonal slash that started from the left and would end at the right. Hopefully, the two slashes would take out some of the Heartless and send any others into the air if they were caught in his upward slash.

It has been over 4 days and Rinoa has yet to post. That being noted, her turn will be skipped for this round of combat and it is now Tidus' turn to post. You have 4 days to post.

But you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm; Though the words sound steady, something empty's withing 'em
[/div][/sub]
"Hey, buddy, not my fault I couldn't hear when Black Cloak here spoke to you, across the room, in a crowded bar." Tidus shot back defensively at the cursed warrior, and just smiled confidently back at the pink-haired man in question. He had been thinking about Yuna at the time and daydreaming anyway, so while he wasn't going to admit that, had it really been his fault he couldn't overhear the private conversation that could have been going on anyway? But he had to expect such rowdy behavior in a bar with drunks, he supposed. Not the friendliest people in the world, but he would do his best to be friendly anyway for the sake of helping out this guy with the mission. Before he knew it, the man explained where they would need to go, and they all set out for the Dark Depths.
~*~
Some time later, he had come to learn Black Coat was really named Marluxia, and the girl was named Rinoa. They found themselves in front of a cave, where the mushrooms apparently were located. This seemed a bit too easy already considered the hesitance of the people in the bar to take the quest, so whatever was the danger must have been inside the cave, but before Tidus could finish taking in a deep breath of the crisp, cool air in the cavernous crystaline area they were set upon by Heartless. Tidus instantly summoned his Brotherhood and faced his back to his new allies, getting ready to shout out some orders. However, pink-hair... er, Marluxia had already begun doing so.
"Who died and made you Maester?" he wondered out loud, smirking humorously, but the quip cost him some concentration as some Shadows attacked from his blind spot behind him. Grunting as the slashes of pain registered across his tanned skin, he blocked with his long one-handed sword, and despite seeming to resist Marluxia's claim for leadership he started to immediately counter against the lesser Heartless to co-operate. He started to flip with his sword in spiral sword arts, using Spiral Cut, using a open ground move to cut down some of the Heartless around them while he had a wide, open space to do so. The area inside the cavern was going to be much more closed off, so he might as well go for broke for the moment and cut down as many Heartless as possible. Happy to be a follower for once instead of always the team captain, he was interested to see how the man with a scythe and the woman fared as uniue party members so he could develop his fighting style to work in conjuction effectively with theirs.
"Alright! So guys, how did you guys come to find Radiant Garden?" he made small talk as they fought, the Shadow Heartless being more of an annoyance than a threat right now.

OOC: Forgot to mention in the earlier post but since Rinoa didn’t react to the Heartless I will be having her take a blow as they wouldn’t exactly stop their attack hehe ^^’. Also apologies for the short post, they’ll get more meaty after the warm-up of Shadow Heartless and I can start throwing the big Heartless your way :3! IC: Despite being ambushed, it would seem the three warriors that had traveled to this cavern located in The Dark Depths were more than ready for it. Well that wasn’t entirely true, in fact it would seem that the one in the blue dress was either shocked into paralysis or perhaps simply not ready. That being noted, the Shadow Heartless’ attacks would land and while not life-threatening did inflict a bit of damage. The other two warriors were much more prepared though, both drawing their weapons rather quickly and striking back in retaliation to the warm reception. The first to attack was from the pink-haired man wielding a scythe, his horizontal swipe taking out four of the Heartless in a single blow. He would then follow up with another swipe, this one going up in a diagonal and striking three more Shadows. They dissipated rather quickly but the other three that had managed to survive the attack by sinking into the ground quickly formed a triangle around him. When the triangle was formed, they would come back up from the ground and attack him from three angles… even if it did seem futile (he had just killed seven of their kin after all). The blond meanwhile had been too busy making a quip to fight back immediately and had received a bit of damage due to his negligence. That didn’t stop him for long though as he swiftly countered with a sweeping blow much like Marluxia, attempting to nail as many Heartless as possible. Indeed, the blond fighter was taking advantage of being in an open area for the time being and was able to strike down five of the Heartless with his attack. The other five had narrowly evaded the blow by sinking into the ground much like the other three attacking Marluxia, a signature move (or would annoyance be more apt?) of the Shadow Heartless. Yes, sinking into the ground they spread around once more to attempt to strike the blond warrior from all sides, a couple attacking low and a few attacking high. Whether this would be successful or not now that Tidus was focused was debatable but more importantly what was going on with the girl in the blue dress? Indeed, she had yet to strike her attackers back yet and while the Heartless had given her a moment of reprieve after seeing their kin being destroyed around them their hesitation wouldn’t last long. No, once again they would strike at Rinoa from various angles both high and low, hoping to finish her off and move on to the other warriors. Creatures of instinct were all they were after all, living for no purpose other than that to take the hearts of others. Once they dealt with the girl they would strike at the other two warriors present and attempt to take them down in their bid to take their hearts. Well that was unless Rinoa struck back and gave them a reason to attend to her rather than the boys, show them what she was really made of. OOC: Shadow Heartless – x3 attacking Marluxia, x5 attacking Tidus, & x10 attacking Rinoa. Total = 18 Shadow Heartless Remaining

The Heartless came and Marluxia gave his orders to Rinoa and Tidus. The orders were somewhat obeyed. As he moved forward to make his first strike, he heard Tidus make his remark as four of the pesky shadows were sent back into the darkness from wince they were born. While the comment was made in a joking manner, Tidus would quick learn that Marluxia was not the joking type.
“I don’t know what you speak of. Please pay attention to your enemies,” he told Tidus in his monotone voice, not even a smile appearing on the Graceful Assassin's emotionless face. He did not have time for playfulness, especially with an enemy that could be problematic if they weren’t given one’s full attention.
As if to prove his point, one of the shadows landed a blow upon the boy. A strike that Marluxia hoped would be a lesson learned for the boy. Despite the mishap, the boy recovered quickly enough and was able to retaliate in a quick fashion that took advantage of the open space they had. As Marluxia made his second swing at the creatures and took out three more, he saw that the boy was actually a better fighter than he would've thought. Tidus was able to take out half of the group of ten around him before the Heartless sunk into the ground to save themselves from more damage. Good. He wouldn’t have to worry too much about him, but what of the girl?
In the brief pause as the Heartless formed another plan attack against himself and the boy, he saw the woman not react to his command and in turn took some damage from the Heartless. Tch. That wasn’t good. She would have to do better than that if she wanted to survive here.
Hm? What was this? His attention returned to the Heartless that had reformed and decided to trap him in the center of a triangle they had formed around him. Hmph. The fools. How dare they think they could take him down with this new tactic. Regardless of the pink haired Nobody's arrogance in this situation, his features remained calm as he stayed in the center of his enemies watching them each carefully as he held his scythe loosely in his hand for a moment waiting for the attack. As he waited, he heard Tidus ask a question.
“I came here of my own accord to get rid of some boredom,” Marluxia said his tones remaining calm and emotionless as usual as he shifted the weight of his scythe in his hand sensing the Heartless about to attack. When the trio attacked him, the Nobody spun in his spot, letting the blade pass around him in one giant and graceful arc in an attempt to slice into the trio that had attempted to hit him. Since these were the weakest of the Heartless, the medium damaging swing should be able to take them out. If not, he could always adjust. In any case, once the spin was done, Marluxia decided to help the girl out a little bit to make up for lost time and lower her enemy count a bit.
Charging his scythe quickly, he swung the blade downward vertically appearing to strike at just air; however, following his swing a hot pink, crescent shaped beam flew off his scythe and cut across the ground, aiming to destroy the few Heartless that were furthest from the girl. Successful or not, this was the only help she was going to get from the Nobody until she could prove she was worthy of more aid from the empty shell. “Keep up with the present, Rinoa,” he told her in cool tones that did not hid his displeasure at her minor slip up and gave a fair warning that he would not accepted such a mishap again. He would not play protector and he would not play ally to someone who could not hold up their own weight on this journey. The only reason he had helped her this time was to give her one more chance to prove her worth to him. Next time, she would not be so lucky.

Rinoa couldn't explain it but somehow these creatures were faster than she had anticipated and the quickly swarmed her doing a bit of damage to the sorceress. She knew that the other two weren't pleased with her lack of readiness especially Marluxia from his comment about her keeping her head in the present. She knew that she had to get her head on straight or she wasn't going to last long. Shook her head and concentrated on the Heartless in front of her. She looked over to Marluxia and have him a quick nod in appreciation when he attacked the three furthest from her. She was thankful for the help whether they hit or not.
Rinoa returned her attention to the enemies before her and cast Firaga on them hoping to capture most of not all of them in the large blast of fire. She had a feeling that she would destroy a good number of the creatures but just incase there were any left she would follow up her first attack with a Blizzaga spell. She would and could fight and she knew she had to make it up to Tidus and Marluxia for her earlier blunder. She hated letting her companions down and that is exactly what she did but she would not do so again.

We say yeah, with fists flying up in the air Like we're holding onto something that's invisible there
[/div][/sub]
Well, this had gone to a unexpected start, hadn't it? Already Tidus had been struck with a pre-emptive strike, but if it had been a lesson learned to pay attention to his enemies, Tidus had learned that long ago. "It's going to take more than these ankle-biters to finish me off!" he retorted back to Marluxia, but with a cheery tone. He was pretty cheerful as he became a flipping whirlwind of blades, cutting down five of the Shadows, as they faded and dissipated into darkness. Five left remained, and they encircled around him, striking at the same from high and low vantage points.
Fighting to him was just like Blitzball, and with his fighting style, like on the Blitzball field swimming to the goal with the Blitzball he would dodge his opponent and then hit 'em hard. He moved as well, jumping towards one of the Heartless that was striking low, slashing into it with the Brotherhood as well as those around him as he spiraled around to finish performing Hop Step. Then using one of the Heartless like a platform, in the process attempting to jump over it's swipe and then actually landing on it with his shoe, pushing off backwards in a rather cool-looking exit through the dissolving mist of the Heartless he had hopefully just extinguished with his sword slices. He got sliced in the shoulder from a Heartless attacking high, and a slash across the leg from a low-attacking Heartless, but at least he was out of the group mauling they were giving him.
He hoped he had finished them off whether his attack had hit them or not though, but for now the launch off his enemy should have at least propelled him out, as they didn't have the strength to keep him within their circle. At least the Heartless doing a leap attack weren't close enough to retreat to the ground for safety, and heard Marluxia's reply, noticing Rinoa's non-reply. That's probably because she was busy with twice the Heartless he was, and yet while Marluxia came to her rescue with a projectile attack, he did seem to be a pretty severe guy by reprimanding her while she was in a tough situation. While he was the cold yet stern authoritative leader of the group, that's where Tidus would come into the balance, being the casual non-serious yet fun and friendly type to keep the group in high spirits. Still in the air from having kicked off a hopefully non-existant Heartless, he went into Full Slide, his Brotherhood leaving a blue trail as he cut through several of the Heartless Rinoa may have missed with her spells as he landed next to her. "Don't worry about Marluxia. Everyone lets their guard down sometimes, but I'm sure you'll more than make up for it and show him you can handle the fun he's been looking for. Right, Marluxia?" he smiled humorously, trying to knit the group together while showing his growing support for Rinoa. He kept a eye out for the remaining stragler Shadows, his long Brotherhood sword held before him to help protect Rinoa as they watched each others backs, and finally added while making miniscule hops from foot to foot in readiness, "A friend's mistake, is our mistake, and we're all friends here. If one of us drops their guard, the other one jumps in to put it up, until the other one can get back on their feet and join the fight. Right?".
---
Hop Step: A short-range attack, Tidus spins a sword strike around him towards his opponent, then kicks them away. This attack has the ability to knock the opponent into the air upon impact. Cooldown: One turn.
Full Slide: Tidus glides through his opponent while slashing his sword three times, leaving behind a wide blue afterimage trail of the Brotherhood. This attack has the effect of knocking the opponent into a wall, ceiling or the ground. Cooldown: One turn.
Spiral Cut: Two turns left to cooldown.

And so the battle raged on, the combatants present that day now fully getting their heads into the game and focusing on the threat they were faced with even if it was relatively minor. Whatever the case, the Shadows attacking Marluxia would soon find themselves on the sharp end of his scythe once more, the pink-haired Nobody spinning in his spot and successfully striking all of them. Much like those that had come before it, the Heartless dispersed into the air and left no trace of their existence behind. His following attack was not as successful however, only striking one of the Heartless whilst the others slipped into the ground to avoid it. Meanwhile, Rinoa was unleashing her own retaliation, one that some may have considered overkill given the opposition but if nothing else it was hard to miss with. Indeed, for four of the Heartless that had been bunched close enough together were taken out and the Blizzaga that had followed it took care of another two that were still on solid ground. All that remained were the three that had sunk into the ground to avoid Marluxia's previous attack, seemingly having taken a liking to their invulnerability provided by the technique. When the timing seemed right, they would reappear behind Rinoa and attack her once more but their lives would be cut short by another player present, Tidus. Indeed, for the Blitzball junkie quickly came to the rescue after having dispatched all the Heartless that had been attacking him, his Hop Step technique having slain them easily enough. Rushing over to cover Rinoa, the blonde warrior would find that the three strikes from his Full Slide technique had met their mark. The three strikes alone were enough to destroy the remaining Shadows, a short reprieve now being provided to them as the Heartless in the cave that had been watching sank deeper into the cave. Perhaps frightened wouldn't be the right word, but it seemed that the creatures were at least wary of their opposition and weren't going to charge at them headfirst. No, they would fight in their domain, in the darkness of the cavern that lay in front of the three warriors where their would not be near as much room to maneuver in. Although that wasn't the only thing that would provided to the warriors to recover their strength before pressing forward, a mushroom had actually been dropped by one of the Heartless. Fortunately enough, it seemed that no one had stepped on it during the scuffle and the Shadow that had been carrying it took well enough care of it. The small green mushroom would still be usable and would be a part of the potion that was necessary for the broken down warrior still slumming it back at the bar. Yet it was possible that the mushroom would also have an effect on the three that had taken the job as well, perhaps instilling a sense of accomplishment in them now that they had already gotten one mushroom. Perhaps even a sense of pride that would make them even more confident in succeeding where so many others before them had failed. Whether this would prove to be helpful or not though would be seen as they ventured deeper inside the cavern that would seem to get increasingly darker as they got further in. Whenever they decided to proceed inside the cave they would quickly find the aforementioned darkness and if bright enough, would just as quickly pull out any mobile sources of light they had with them (Pun Count: 1). After all, to gather the other two mushrooms would require careful examination as more than just the mushrooms necessary grew in the cave. Indeed, patches of fungi were all around in the cavern, most of it useless of course but still required to be checked to see if any matched the description of the mushrooms that were necessary. And as if waiting for the moment when they would presumably check the mushrooms or even look even the least bit off guard, the next set of Heartless would strike! Yes, it was another ambush and perhaps with the lack of a sun hovering over head or as much room to fight in this surprise attack would prove more fruitful! Without warning the Heartless would appear, three different kinds this time and each much stronger than the Shadows the warriors had faced earlier. Five of the Heartless were known as Darkballs the weakest of the three but certainly annoying especially in this tight area. They would attempt to surround the three warriors from all sides before attacking, bouncing off the walls and rocketing around in an attempt to smash into the opposition with a rather unpredictable attack. The next type of Heartless known as Neoshadows would come in a group of three, each one separating from the pack and attempting to claw at a different warrior. These Heartless weren't incredibly powerful but were not weak either as well as a bit more strategic than their unevolved kin and could adjust how they attacked if necessary. Lastly, and arguably the strongest of the bunch were the Defender Heartless, both armed with a rather large shield. These two wouldn't charge into the fray just yet and would instead opt to shoot out a double Fire attack at Marluxia from behind. It was quite the ambush and one could easily see that if Heartless of this variety and power populated this cavern, it was any wonder why so many had fallen before. The question was though, would these three brave warriors fall as well? OOC -
Darkball - Five remain Neoshadow - Three remain Defender - Two remain

Well, it would appear that he and the boy destroyed their set of Heartless well enough. When they turned to help the girl, Marluxia saw that she had snapped out of her daze and after giving him a nod, she moved into action using first a high level fire spell followed by an ice spell of the same level. Ah now that was impressive and pleasing to see. While Marluxia had used his attack to help the girl only one Shadow was destroyed while the others escaped the blade of pink energy; however, the boy was there to back the girl up, quickly taking down the attackers that sought to strike her from behind. As for the survivors the two spells easily wiped them out. As all Heartless attacking them faded from existence, a slight smirk appeared on the Nobody’s face. He guess these two weren’t useless after all. What with the boy’s speed, the girl's magic, and his brutality they could take this problem down easily. Those little mushrooms would be theirs in an instant.
The brief triumphant and actual enjoyment lasted for only a second before Marluxia caught himself in the act and halted the emotion, shaking himself mentally. No. He could not think that way. Relying on others only led to trouble. He had to rely on himself and no one else. If he failed to do this, things would come unravel once more. People and things were tools to be used to gain another step in progress nothing more. Nothing less. He told himself this as his small smirk vanished and he walled himself up again, but there was a little voice inside of him that told him that what he told himself was a lie. Determined not to fall apart, he pushed the voice away becoming focused once more. His ice blue eyes turned to the boy who was speaking now that the danger was gone. He listened to the boy give the girl strength telling her not to take what he said too hard before encouraging her to keep trying. The behavior was an odd one he wasn’t used to being around. Giving commands and keeping everyone under tight control…that was what he was used to, but team work and supporting others when they were down?
He had done the first plenty of times, but the latter was something he had never done himself. He never saw a need to consider others' feelings or thoughts as long as things got done. The boy’s smile and cheerful attitude was met with only the slightest of movement on the Nobody’s part. He simply raised his eyebrows at the question and then listened to the rest of what the boy said as he hopped from foot to foot anticipating more fighting.
Friends? How were they friends? They didn’t even truly know each other. They just happened to be a group of three that were brought together by the common goal of getting the mushrooms for the warrior, even if their motives were not the same. The boy’s logic was confusing; however, he did have a point. If he and the girl were broken, they would be of no use to the Nobody and would make the job more annoying, so perhaps working as one with these tools would be beneficial…if no one slipped up and became a weak link that is.
In any case, the Nobody remained quiet studying the boy and girl for a moment lost in thought and then with a light. “Heh.” He responded back.
“Maybe that idea will come in handy for what we are to face next. After all,” the Nobody, his voice monotone as usual, paused as he calmly looked away from the pair, scanning the area for more danger or anything odd when his eyes landed on the strange form lying not too far away. He went over to it and was pleased to see it was one of the mushrooms they had been looking for. Those Heartless must’ve had it and dropped it when defeated. He kneeled down and picked it up carefully in his gloved hand before turning back to the others and showing the mushroom to the pair.
“It would seem that the work done here was not too bad after all,” he said as he gave Rinoa a slight smirk, a sign that he had forgiven her error for now. After a moment, the Nobody hid the mushroom in a safe spot within his cloak and turned slightly to the cave, his smirk gone and his seriousness back.
“Come on,” he said to the two before heading towards the cave. He paused only twice as he made his way over there. The first time had been to see if Rinoa and Tidus had followed and the other was to secure the flashlight in such a way to himself that even if he were to let it go, it wouldn’t go clattering to the ground and get broken that way. With the minor adjustments done, he grabbed Dahila from her resting spot against the outside wall of the cave with one hand and then raising the flashlight turned it on and headed into the darkness.
Once in the pure dark cave with only the lights of their flashlights breaking it, Marluxia kept his pace slow to insure that Tidus and Rinoa were not lost as he scanned the walls and floor carefully with his light. This place was cold, damp, and filled with earthy and bitter air to breathe in. It was a perfect hide away for Heartless and…his light passed over some strange looking plants. Fungi….Marluxia paused in his walking for a moment as he scanned the rest of the area. More fungi.
“Well then. It would appear we have some digging around to do in the fungi that grows here. I hope you remember what that mushroom I picked up and showed you looked like for that is what we are going to have to find in this mess,” he said with a light sigh. He didn’t like the idea of getting dirty, let alone trying to play matching games with fungi. Still, the job did require three mushrooms and they only had one, so he guess he would have to do what he had to do to get the job done.
“Fan out a bit, but don’t wander too far. Maybe we’ll luck up on the last two soon,” he said calmly before moving over to one of the walls and looking carefully at the fungi, moving a few tangled ones out of the way to get a better look at what they hid. The process was going to be slow, but he’d wouldn’t give up. He would complete this task even if it did make him uncomfortable. As he searched the wall a bit more, his ears picked up on the distinct sounds of Corridors opening followed by the sounds of movement.
“Company again,” he called out to the others in case they had missed the sounds that announced their visitors. In any case, nothing else was said as Marluxia let the flashlight go and let it dangle from its trapped state on his cloak as freaking chaos was unleashed in the small space.
For starters, while he could not tell how many there were he heard the distinct and annoying bouncing around of Darkballs. He moved his scythe in a defensive position and by sheer luck felt the impact of one of the bouncing balls as it hit the shaft of his staff with such force that he was forced to step back a little as it bounced away. If he had moved any slower that thing would’ve hit his face! While the block had been lucky and the Nobody had stayed unharmed up until now, his luck ran out as he felt the bite of claws in his right arms. He would’ve attacked in response, but another one of the dark balls were bouncing his way forcing him to shift to the side to avoid it. He heard it smack into the wall inches from his left ear, but didn’t pay it any mind as the slasher from before was coming again.
“Back off!” Marulixia growled as he summoned his Angel between himself and the attacking Neoshadow. As the creature made its attack there was a flash of pink in the darkness as the Angel unleashed her shock wave attack to knock away and lightly damage the Neoshadow and any randomly bouncing Darkballs that got caught. While the move gave him room again, the attacks had been enough for at least two of the fireballs unleashed from the Defenders to make their mark. The first hit him fully in the right leg causing him to stumble back against the wall. He saw the other coming at his chest and tried to avoid it by moving to the right, but the blow was still able to clip his right arm as he moved. The blows hurt a lot, but the Nobody’s fury was able to override pain for now. Knowing exactly what he was dealing with now. His focus settled on the two Defenders. While his leg and arm were injured, he could still get at them since the moving space was small and the Defenders close by. Being careful to avoid his attacking Neoshadow and the bouncing blockheads, he made his way as quickly as he could towards the Defenders. While Neoshadows and Darkballs were bad news, Defenders were a different set of trouble. With their high defenses, these two would be the hardest to go down and being the heavier hitter of the group they had to go down first.
When he was within range of the nearest Defender, he raised his scythe in both hands before bringing it down as hard as he could on the creature’s shield hoping to damage it or rip a hole in the defense to damage the creature behind it. As he did so, he also hoped that the Neoshadow that had been pestering him earlier would get caught in the swipe. The more he could take out with one blow the quicker this chaos could be over with
