Three years. Someone else might have been able to say how long to the exact date, but so far it had been three years since the end of the Organization proper. Even with Xehanort's revealing of the true Organization to Riku and himself at the World that Never Was during the mark of mastery exam, it was something that they had all elected to keep quiet. At this point, the only ones who knew were those directly involved. Mickey, Sora, Riku, Yen Sid, Donald, Goofy, and Kairi. There were those of the darkness who might have known, but it had been decided on that day to keep the info quiet from most of the light until Xehanort made his move. If lucky, they might even get Ventus or Aqua back, but that was becoming slowly more prevalent as a no. Mickey didn't want to lose hope, and he probably never would. But realisticly, getting the boy his heart back, and getting Aqua from the realm of darkness... Well, at least he'd found Roxas on Destiny Islands, right?
But that mattered little. This event had been planned to begin since the last one ended. An anniversary bash of the defeat of the Organization. What had seemed like potentially the greatest threats to all the worlds, and a face to say “Yes, we defeated and turned back the darkness. The light prevails.” With the celebration of this defeat and the preperations for it nearly complete, people had already begun flocking to Disney castle as a means of celebration. Yet even so, Mickey couldn't put aside this odd, shaking sensation that something was just... wrong. Still, he had to put on a brave face as he stepped onto the stage in the main area of Disney Town.
As he stepped out to look over the crowd, Mickey smiled and waved to the cheers. It was good to the happy smiling faces, and it managed to fill him with his own happiness. Or at least cheer him up. That might be a better term for it.
“Hey everyone!” Mickey said cheerfully, his voice small, but echoing by special magics on the stage, “I'm glad you all could make it! Even with the Tournament going on at the coliseum and the rumors about strange forces gathering, it's good to be able to come and relax, let it all wash away for a bit to celebrate something good! And by good, I mean the defeat of the Organization and Xehanort's plans!”
Mickey smiled at the cheers that arose from that, waiting for the crowds to quiet down before finally continuing. “Things will be getting underway quite soon for the main event, but for now, feel free to mingle and chat. Plenty of new and old friends to meet and get together for!”
