| ❤ I don't want the future. I want the present to stand still. I just want to stay here with you ❤ |
Rinoa had completely lost consciousness at this point. For a moment memories that had flooded in did so in pieces. It was as if seeing a dream that had yet to complete its course. In fact none of these memories seemed whole. She was not even sure what made her think of the past. A sudden heaviness had caught her shoulders, weighing her down, not in body, but in spirit. It felt as if something and torn the breath from her lungs.
Something was quite odd. The Gardens were sided with the Light so any denizens of the dark should hold no influence here. To have as much trouble as they did, it was becoming more of a nuisance than a heroic endeavor. Whatever this shadow was it gave warning toward their persistent pursuits. The figure that showed itself to Gilgamesh and Rinoa was familiar. Even if neither had actual experience with it, that was the sensation it gave off.
It was without a presence, for each time the figure was noticed it was Angelo who had warned them with her superior senses and alertness. It made no noise and was clearly neither the mad clown nor the armored terror. What was most unsettling was the fact if looked like the young sorceress. They were of the same height and build, but this creature had red skin and its clothing was inversed to Rinoa's:a blue pair of shorts and a shirt, while its duster was a Raven's black.
Angelo did not cease her pursuit of the enemy. As far as the mutt was concerned this thing had done harm to Rinoa. Nails scratched against the stone path, f the dragging scrapes an easy sound to follow. Soon the dog led the sword hunter toward the entrance path into the valley. It was hard to say what has carved out the great valley, but it seemed they would face a hurdle in their problem. Standing at a cliff that overlooked the great vale, was the shadowed figure, but now it seemed to hold a different shape.
Short, cropped hair. A jacket lined with fit and a blade that had a lion's head carved into the steel of the barrel. It was Squall, or someone that resembled him. "I told you not to follow." It would speak in the mercenary's voice.
"S-Squall..." The sorceress bade in her semiconscious state. Her hands clenched I've Gilgamesh's red cape as she began to shift. "Don't hurt him..." She weakly begged, clearly seeming delirious from her fever.
The shadow held out its mock gunblade. One again it was a creature of red skin, the Lion's wardrobe inverted in coloration. It stood in a ready position. Angel did not charge. She had no command to and it was much too near to cliff's edge.
The shadow scoffed. "If you keep going, you won't get out til the night comes." With that the shadow fires a bullet before leaping into the valley and running off.
Angelo let out a whine and turned to face Giglamesh. They would have to find a way down, and it also appeared Rinoa was rousing from her state, if only temporarily. “W-where am I?” Her body was hot and mind spinning.

To say the least, Gilgamesh really didn’t have much of an idea of where exactly they were going, but at the same time he was just relieved that they had Angelo with them. A dog’s senses were much more refined then humans and whatever Gilgamesh was and it only helped them against this mysterious foe. This foe would not escape them and he definitely would not let her. He swore he saw the girl before, but at the same time it reminded her of a certain girl resting on his shoulder, but that was impossible!
He rushed along with Angelo, not allowing the added weight of carrying Rinoa to slow him down as he made haste. Normally he would take his time to observe the nice scenery. The crystals would have been quite the beautiful sight to appreciate, but even so his task at the moment was important and unless the rift whisked them away than they would always have afterwards to be able to look at the scenery. As they moved on a figure stood before a cliff looking down as if they wanted to jump.
Stopping to prep himself for another battle, he held up his sword once again ready to fight, but something was different this time. The shadowy figure was not of a girl this time. It looked like the figure had gotten a gender change and now looked like a guy. This guy, now he swore he saw this person before! It couldn’t possibly be! It had been so long, but now he would finally have a chance! He would finally be able to have his duel of the lifetime and finally be able to prove how superior he was!
“BARTZ!” Gilgamesh cried out…
But then Rinoa called out the name Squall…
“Oh…er…I mean…Squall!” Gilgamesh cried out prepping his sword once more. Though it wasn’t Bartz and he was feeling a bit depressed about that fact, Gilgamesh got over it quick and begun to think about who this person was. He knew a guy named Squall, the cool gunblade he had was something he couldn’t forget and the guy before him fit the description a tad…though the coloring was totally wack. Gilgamesh was told not to harm him, but Gilgamesh was a bit unsure about that…considering that guy had a sword combined with a gun. Instantly the bullet heading straight towards him was blocked by the Tournesol, but once again the being was gone, having jumped down the cliff. Running up to the cliff and looking down, he glanced over at Angelo and then back up at Rinoa as she begun to wake.
“Shh…relax” Gilgamesh said before looking down the cliff. “We’re hunting baddies and as great heroes we will not let them leave alive” Gilgamesh said before looking back at Rinoa once again “Hey, Imma jump down this cliff, I want you to remain strong no matter where we end up, kay? You’re a strong girl Rinoa, don’t whatever is bothering you bring you down! Keep that burning spirit aflame and know that I will be there to keep it burning!” Gilgamesh said scooping up Angelo in his other arm “Allllllllllright time to try this again! STAIRS ARE FOR LOSERS!” Gilgamesh yelled as he used his jump skill once more, jumping high up into the air and begun to descend down the cliff. An aura of power surrounded Gilgamesh as they descended and once they reached the ground for once Gilgamesh managed to land on his feet, creating a crater due to the force. “THE HEROES OF JUSTICE HAVE ARRIVED!” Gilgamesh said. It was not that Gilgamesh had ignored the warning the shadowy creature made, but Gilgamesh had lived in a nightmarish land for a long time already, he was not afraid!

| ❤ I don't want the future. I want the present to stand still. I just want to stay here with you ❤ |
It had not been the one that Gilgamesh met long ago. Perhaps it was the sword hunter’s fate never to meet him again, but maybe his paths would eventually lead up to a new meeting in the future. The future was uncertain and sometimes a tumultuous trip across what would be an otherwise solemn and mundane journey. The hero and heroine were one of the lucky few who were able to make friends on their journey through life. Though sometimes they did not always start on the right sides, in the end it would be for the better. Selfish causes could be turned around to better the world and bring about righteous change. Betwixt hypocrisy and unfettered truth, there was a place where heroics were not wholly contradicting. Justice is truth in action! Justice is a fading light…
In her haze she agreed that chasing bad guys was the ultimate fate for a hero. That was why she had long since ceased the condemning of the SeeD. Murderers for hire, boys and girls who were blindly sent out to fight for a world they did not know. But after meeting the heads of the Gardens and living among them: there stood so much more to that life than the blind circumstance of an order. They, just like anyone else, had to learn to decide their own brand of justice. Cid, Martine and those who continued to fight for Trabia even in the aftermath… She felt that sort of fighting was no different than Galbadian warmongering. Not any more. Not that her heart had found a place among them.
The bleary-eyed sorceress blinked. “W-wait sensei!” She tried to wiggle off the caped marauder of blades, but her legs were still weak and her head still spinning after reconciling with her semi-conscious state.
But there was no stopping him!!! She gripped tightly to his cape as she felt the gravity churn her stomach, twisting her insides. She clutched to her friend as he went hurtling down the side of a cliff!! After what though? Had they caught up to the figure, and if so: when had they done so? A squeak was all that left the sorceress as they plummeted down. Angelo barked and wagged her tail excitedly before running to the cliff’s edge as well! The mixed canine ran in a circle before dashing off down the cliff’ slope to eventually meet up with them. The dog knew better than to simply follow the leader. When they landed Rin felt her everything catch up with her. She nearly lost the one bit of food she had gotten in today. The witch would eventually managed to squirm out of Gilgamesh’s grip and flop to the ground feeling as if she would soon be forced to kiss the floor at the weight gravity put on her back.
Pulling out of the crater Rinoa put her hands to her hips and looked around. She exhaled, trying to keep up her spirits and body from completely collapsing. Angelo soon caught up with them, padding up to Rinoa’s side with her stubby tail wagging. “Where are we?”
“Don’t you remember?” A familiar voice rang in her head. “The enemy came down here.”
She blinked. “The enemy came down here, but -- where could they have run to?” She had to accept the fact that her Guardian was likely more aware of the situation than she was.
Due to their symbios together it meant that a great portion of her long term memory was fodder for his powers. Day by day she lost more memories, but could that be what was going on here? Could this be why she was only able to collect pieces of the past few days? Months…? Maybe years…. She felt a chill run up her spine as she hugged her arms around her body. Angelo shuffled closer, looking up to her Mistress. Rinoa was distressed, this much the dog could tell. Night was quickly falling over the great valley of crystal, but the clear spires still were able to catch enough light to illuminate the sea of crystal grounds.
It was like a field of ice which had caught fire during the throes of winter. It was an impossible structure with untold beauty. The way the sunset reflected through the prisms of transparent mineral was awe inspiring. It could almost lay the waste the tragic history that the Gardens suffered. Rinoa found it a bit strange that this place was also called a Garden. Was it perhaps like the SeeD Gardens? Was this too a place to educate the masses and bring about change to the world? She had never questioned it, especially with Squall’s presence and current place as leader of its well-being. Once a Commander, always a Commander, she supposed.
“Sensei. Sorry if I’m letting you down… we’ve just been going on for a long time now.” In fact they hadn't a chance to rest since their journey into the Rift to this world.
Rinoa was not as inhumane as many suspected. She was down right civilian in some cases. Though she had enough stamina to fight for a while now, coupled with her backup mana she was starting to stumble. Yes she knew what it was. Occasionally it just -- overflowed. She had so much magic in her body, a true daughter of Hyne, if she did not use the mana or let to go somewhere, it would simply build up in her system. She was still young and learning to use her powers. It did not help she was used as a vessel for one of the strongest Sorceresses of their generation. There were times where she screwed up. Screwing up again like she did with that Heartless earlier was not an option. Gilgamesh could get hurt, or worse….
“Can’t we make camp?” Though she had no tents handy, she was feeling the fatigue. ❤ tags:@gilgamesh~! ❤ powers used: n/a ❤ notes: I'm just a little tired. ELECTRIC OF GS AND BTN [/div]

There was a great and powerful collision but this time it was met with the skillful descent of Gilgamesh’s amazing feet. Just what awaited the trio in the bottom of this cliff? Well the bad guy surely had to of been down here! He was sure of it! But fate proved him wrong and all he saw was emptiness. It was disappointing to say the least, but the dastardly foe shouldn’t have been far at all and if they made haste they were sure to of eventually reached their target and give him a good bashing!
He was ready to march on forth and battle, but then the feminine voice beside him suddenly brought up an excellent point. He hadn’t of even noticed that she gotten off his back and he was kind of relieved he noticed otherwise he might have been dragging the poor girl around without noticing if she had a good grip on his back or not…heck he might have left her and probably had to of run back to get her! She seemed good enough to walk, but at the same time he could see the fatigue on her face and though Gilgamesh would not admit it he was kind of tired as well.
“No, no it’s alright, nothing to apologise for!” Gilgamesh said crossing his arms. “You’ve brought up an excellent point my dear. We shall set up camp here and get some rest before moving out!” Gilgamesh said. As a wandering traveller he hadn’t really need for anything like tents or cottages as they were things that were merely a luxury as the time in the rift never truly gave him anything nice. Camping out with company actually sounded pretty fun! Though Gilgamesh wished they were able to of slept in a nice inn regardless.
“Hmm…well I don’t have any real sleeping materials…” Gilgamesh began to mutter quietly to himself but immediately began to perk up “OH! BUT I CAN MAKE US A FIRE!” Gilgamesh said running off. It was times like this that he wished he had fire magic on hand, but that kind of sounded boring as well. He darted around looking for any branches or things he could use for the fire. It was difficult, but Gilgamesh managed to find some wayward wood and materials. He placed it in the middle and crossed his arms.
“hmmm and now to set the fire…oh! I know!” Gilgamesh said before another sword appeared in his hand. With the Tournesol in one hand and the Genji Blade in the other, Gilgamesh began to scratch the blades together, causing sparks to fly. As planned a few of the sparks managed to hit the group of branches and a campfire was born! Dispersing the swords, Gilgamesh placed both hands on his waist and laughed “Yes! I am the master of swords and flames!” Gilgamesh said happily unaware that one of the sparks had hit his cape. Sniffing, Gilgamesh looked around “hey what that smell…SWEET CHRISTMAS ITS ME!” Gilgamesh yelled as he began flailing about as his cape turned on fire. Darting about, Gilgamesh suddenly slipped and fell on his back before extinguishing the flame with his back “well…that hurt…” Gilgamesh said before leaping back up and sitting by the campfire merrily “ah but the warmth of the campfire does feel good” Gilgamesh said brining his hands over the fire.

Rinoa was quiet. She felt a strange pull over her spirit. She was tired of these fractured memories and wondering if all her dreams were just that. Were these visions of past events or of things yet to come? It was only troubling her youthful spirit. It was like part of her was missing and she was fading away between the annals of time.
Gilgamesh had made a fire. The witch pulled her legs close to her chest, hugging her thin limbs. Angelo lay on her belly beside Rinoa. The dog had laid her head upon her mistress' feet to try and comfort her. Hazel eyes stares at the fire. Even as Gilgamesh's failure at attempting to tame the wild flames on his cape, she did not feel that usual zeal that flowed through her with his usual antics.
"Zell." She stated. "He is a lot like you. A guy who tries hard to be noticed." Maybe she could see through Gilgamesh.
Though the sword hunter played hero, being a hero was far too much responsibility. Being a hero meant sacrificing that happiness, at least the heroes Rinoa knew of were all martyrs. Even Sir Laguna had lost a lot to get where he was, smiles aside. If Gilgamesh was a true hero, that what has he lost? Even Rinoa had lost little in comparison.
"Ever since we got here I've been having a strange feeling of de ja vu, as if I had done this before." Repeated visions. "I'm starting to wonder if we had really fought anyone. One minute they were there and now we're here. How did we... How did we get here?" It seemed the witch was losing it. "How did we fall into a canyon?" Somewhere between Gilgamesh fetching the wood and lighting the fires; Rinoa appears to have no recollection of their actions.
The darkness was cold. It was lonely. If there was anything or here it was either lnf since asleep, or far passed dead. Neither the bellow of the winds or any tittering wildlife could be heard over to soft crackling of the campfire. Rinoa buried her face in her knees, body shaking as she tried to keep warm. It was not long before the sorceress lady herself so down on the ground. Her head read st upon Angelo's body.
Soft whooshing would sound from behind the sword hunter. Before long a familiar form hovered from the shadows. A red and black body made up its general form. Wings like a bat and the horns of a dragon; the figure was a refined shadow of dreams and nightmares alike.
"I warned you did I not sword hunter?" Diabolos spoke. "Always quite the meddlesome one." He breathed out, breath crawling along the dancing shadows of the fires. "She suffers thanks to your foolishness. She is in pieces. Begone clown, lest I make you a dreamer as well." He threatened. ❤ tags: @gilgamesh~! ❤ powers used: Summoned Diabolos?? ❤ notes: I don't want to leave... ELECTRIC OF GS AND BTN

It was silent, too silent for Gilgamesh’s taste, but he really did not feel like breaking that silence at moment. It was always nice to have a silence that allowed one to enjoy the scenery and peace, however this was a different feeling. There was a lot of tension going on and Rinoa was suffering with the fatigue and strain she was feeling. All of this was not going as well and the enemy had not reappeared. How long would they have to keep on seeking out their prey in order to capture it? They would have to keep on diving deeper and deeper, but no matter how far they went there would always be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
Resting by the fire he listened to Rinoa speak on, speaking about how he reminded her about somebody named Zell. He couldn’t say he believed in what the girl was speaking of, that he was trying to be noticed. He never cared about it all, he had been called an idiot numerous times, but he did not care. Why would he try to bring attention to himself if that were the case? No, Gilgamesh lived a nonchalant life and did whatever he wished. He fought, he bantered, he adventured, he did all he wanted. He was selfish, but he was living the life he desired and he could care less about whether he was noticed or not, he just liked the feeling of having faces he could remember…
She was in pain; it wasn’t a physical pain, but clearly a mental pain. There was nothing that Gilgamesh could really do excluding watch on before she fell asleep resting upon her faithful companion. The very moment the girl fell to her slumber the wooshing noise behind him was heard, prompting the fabled swordsman to close his eyes and listened to the beast behind him. Without turning around to even stare at the beast, Gilgamesh slowly rose to his feet, dusting off his pants before the blue lightning shaped Zantetsuken appeared in his hand.
“well, ya see here is the thing, I am quite the stubborn person, so sorry bout that” Gilgamesh said resting the Zantetsuken upon his shoulder nonchalant as he opened his eyes and turned around, facing the beast that had appeared behind him. “I see you’ve finally showed up, I’ve been beginning to wonder when you’d finally show yourself to me” Gilgamesh said before pointing his blade towards the beast “so tell me oh mighty summoned beast…you gonna place the blame on me? Well listen up! I’ll take the blame! You see, I’ll admit it, I’mma no good man who does as he pleases! A hero? As if! I’ve never really done anything heroic, heck I’ve even found myself better at being on the other side…but you know…that girly there…shes real heroic material!” Gilgamesh said with a grin. “Heroes are strong, heroes are tough and stubborn, heroes will face the ultimate challenges and suffer great pain! I haven’t known her for long, but I can tell she is strong, which is why I place my faith into her. I aint leaving her side until she conquers that darkness of hers…the darkness some loser must be tryin to feed her. So go ahead….gimme your worst…I’ll take it!” Gilgamesh said

Diabolos wore an expressionless mask as he hovered over the Crystal surface of the great valley. Beneath his form the ripples of his shadow played against the reflective surface. The fires helped to distort the image beneath Diabolos and provided a sense of ambiance as the dim light intensified the spectral glow that carried down from the stars and moon above and to the surface of the ground and walls of the Crystal Scar that adorned the surface of Radiant Gardens. His wings were spread out like black, decrepit flowers, wilted and twisted beneath the curl of his dual-toned flesh. His twisted horns curled up, making his face appear more like a dreadful mask than actual face as the dark guardian held but a single expression. With his gnashing fangs and glaring, red eyes the face looked more a mummy encased in ebony scales.
Even as the cold voice rumbled from his chest his jaws merely parted as if to release the twisted sounds born of the Lord of Dreams. “She suffers a nightmare, one you shall not break her from.” The Guardian would cock his head at Gilgamesh’s challenge. “You may call yourself what you like, but does one think that simply defeating Odin and claiming his Zantetsuken can truly inspire you to be great? Or any of the useless toothpicks you have stolen?” The Guardian questioned.
The master of dreams seems to have woke completely when Rinoa had slipped away into the darkness. Holding his arms outward from his body, the claw-tipped digits popped as he flexed them. His long arms reached down to his bent knees which ended in hand-like claws doing the same gripping motion. Behind him his long, thin tail swayed in tandem to his flapping wings. Across the fire Angelo and Rinoa slept soundly, unaware of the happenings between Sword hunter and Avatar. But something was very wrong with this situation. Why was Diabolos summoned in such a manner and why had the Maester of Dreams been acting so aggressively? Contrary to his appearance the avatar is relatively neutral holding dominion over the shadows that create dreams and nightmares alike. Both were born of the same base, and Diabolos controlled it all.
“So, you wish to fight for a memory? How strong are you, truly Gilgamesh?” He questioned as he rose from the ground, higher into the air.
Holding out his hand he would draw over his open palm a sphere of Gravity. As he drew more and more of the mathematical equation around him in bright lights and symbols he would soon have the graviton sphere complete. Pulling it from the sky he would hurl it down toward the sword hunter, aiming to crush him under the force of his forsaken ego.
“On your knees!” He demanded, eyes flashing red, in an attempt to force dreams of his past to float over the hunter.

It was as the devilish beast had said; Rinoa was suffering, suffering from the dreams that plagued her mind. Just what what this girls past, Gilgamesh never really ever gave thought to trivial stuff like this, but in a situation like this he actually had to put much more of thought into this. He wanted to help, but in such a thing Gilgamesh was quite powerless and he had no idea what he could possibly do for the girl. Even Angelo, who was Rinoa’s biggest supporter and knew more about helping her than himself was now fast asleep leaving him all alone.
Even so there was still a glimmer of hope in this situation and Gilgamesh would take advantage of it. There was a beast up hear that clearly knew of the suffering that Rinoa was going through. It was through him that maybe, just maybe, Gilgamesh would probably get to the bottom of this and free the girl from the nightmare she endured. Even so he could not attack this beast or else he may lose his chance at freeing Rinoa as well, such a tricky problem to be sure! Gilgamesh braced himself and prepped himself for the battle “Toothpicks?! I’ll have you know that these are genuine…er…sort of….But still! How dare you!” Gilgamesh barked quite annoyed. He had been looked down upon quite a deal so he was quite used to it, but even so he made those fools regret looking down upon him and never sat idly by!
The beast went upwards and immediately Gilgamesh was bearing witness to it creating what seemed to be a gravity ball. “This….is not good” Gilgamesh muttered quietly to himself as he narrowed his eyes and prepped Zantetsuken. Immediately the ball began to descend upon Gilgamesh at a high speed causing Gilgamesh to instantly bring sword upwards, swinging the space cutting sword against the ball of gravity. With the contact he began to see it all. Numerous battles and numerous defeats, in his mind he saw the numerous times he fled from battle, like a coward he rushed away. It was a pathetic sight to be sure. He claimed he was the greatest of swordsman yet even so victory was something that never truly was his destiny. What good was merely destroying a few measly beasts? The memory he saw next was vivid and strong. It was a fierce battle only to have been interrupted by the deep and menacing voice of his boss. Disappointment was clear in his voice and he spoke to Gilgamesh as if he was nothing but a worthless being. What if that was all there was to the man, what if he was just a worthless dog?
Weight began to push him down, the gravity increasing a huge deal. The self-doubt began to take effect on the great swordsman, but even so he would not buckle. His eyes glanced over at the sleeping Rinoa and his mind was set clear. He could honestly say this was not a selfish one and one in wish he could say was not for him. He could not lose, it was for her sake he fought this fight. He thought back to the single other time he fought unselfishly. He fought to protect Bartz and friends and even though he may have been a useless man, he still was able to protect and save them. He was a coward and a big mouth, but that was just who he was. He was still living, and took pride in who he was! A loss was something not to mope about, but something to be learnt from! And so he would run, but he would also learn! He would become the greatest of swordsman and grow to be a great man no matter what they said.
The ball descended upon him and enveloped him, instantly causing the swordsman to fall to the ground. But even so Gilgamesh was determined. His forearms were placed on the ground, his feet rested upon the ground, but his knees refused to touch the ground, he refused to do as the beast told him and resisted the force of gravity.

Diabolos was the Avatar of Dreams, a Guardian that wandered the resting minds of heroes and villains alike. He was the darkness within the light and the light that draw away the shadows. He was Dusk and he was Dawn. Twisting their hopes and wishes into his own strength, their desires only granted if they were strong enough to impose recognition into the Avatar. His fiendish figure was born of both Dreams and Nightmares. The power to both protect and destory were his and his alone to wield. Deadly claws could easily touch with the gentle caress one used to cradle a babe. Gnashing fangs intimidated the weak, but gave the tempered courage to stand and face him. Extravagant wings blew away his enemies, but embraced his comrades.
Few others could stand against his power. When in the peak of his processes he could take on entire armies who felt themselves worthy of his powers. He had faced a true swordsman once. A man who was still in his youth and wield a blade capable of firing like a gun. They sought to gain his power, in order to become stronger, but the Guardian was resistant. He did not grant just anyone their dreams. He would not submit to just anyone and surely would not allow himself to fall to the simple-minded fantasies of heroism that belonged to the caped pierot before him. Diabolos’ test was simple and it was one necessary in order to wake his Mistress from her nightmare. He had been awake for some time now, he was not as weak as he was when he first faced the youth with the gunblade.
When his gravity dispersed the Guardian had lowered to the ground, his spread wings thrusting in a downward motion to keep him afloat. Though it was unnecessary due to his manipulation of gravity it was also what allowed him to move so smoothly, as if hovering, over any given field. “Not even in the embrace of eternal slumber will one such as you stand free from the terror of your own ineptitudes!” He charged toward Gilgamesh with his claws bared.
The talons were as sharp as a blade and could easily cleave the life of his opponent twain. Just his touches were enough to drain. He was more so hoping that Gilgamesh could see his true face amidst the dreams and nightmares collected by his soul. It was merely the Guardian’s job to sort them. The task of accepting the truth amongst the false was the job of the spirit. Rinoa … she had failed in this. She could no longer define between reality and fantasy. She was lost amidst a nightmare.
He roared. “Brash, reckless and as stubborn as when you had first come to her side!” His claws moved to rend through the warrior, the valley silent… Something was off. “Neither of you can connect to that day any longer, the day you woke from the Darkness and slipped from the Rift!” Diabolos accused.
The Guardian was fast, his size no deterrent as he zipped over the crystalline surface of the Valley. Pulling in his wings he would spin himself rapidly and right himself after the attempted strike. Turning to face Gilgamesh the Guardian curled his dark lips over over his monstrous fangs. Silence was all that echoed through the valley as they clashed. This was not right. Rinoa would not wake, not even Angelo moved… All around the Crystal had taken a faint, red and black hue. It twisted and swirled in a distorted manner. The Darkness surrounded them and even the fires had taken Diabolos’ coloration. Diabolos held out his claws, a chuckle rumbling from his chest as he flexed his claws.
Diabolos cocked his head. “You still do not see it…hero?” He pulled his hand back, the stance signifying a quick draw.
He would face Gilgamesh in a final strike, head on. The first to pull their blades and cut through their opponent would be able to see the truth. but did Gilgamesh seek victory or did he want to become a hero? Did being a Hero mean winning?

Refusing to fall to his feet and a bit weakened from the sheer blow that he had taken, Gilgamesh slowly attempted to rise back up to his feet. This was not like him, not at all, he was a mighty swordsman, sure he would fall, but not like this! Not so easily! Gilgamesh needed to change this, not for himself, but so he could finally get this bout done and over with. Slowly he eventually got to his feet and clenched the hilt of the Zantetsuken, but immediately he raised his blade and swung instantly. He was no slouch but the blow from the beast was surely almost about to of spelt the doom for Gilgamesh had he not moved in time.
The blade of his sword and the blade like talons made contact, scraping against each other as Gilgamesh immediately leaped back to gain some distance from the two of them. Getting the distance he needed he prepped his sword once again and readied himself for another bout. He was getting far too annoyed with this and the cryptic messages that the beast spoke to him about, but at the same time it did remind him of something. Ever since he met Rinoa he always felt a sense of familiarity, but it always just escaped his mind. Listening to his enemy’s words only made him think back to the very time he was freed from that accursed rift. It was the very sword that he held in his hand that saved him and he dispatched the very man that caused the blade to reach in his grasp. He recalled a group, a group with weapons. He recalled the leader of course, Squall had quite the interesting weapon, but even so there were others…
The world around him began to darken; turning into a world in with was coated with the coloration of the very beast before him. Even so Gilgamesh stood strong no matter how creepy things were about to become. He was the one who jumped down into this cavern willing to face any danger and he would not back down. Could he say that this was the very same cavern he had descended into? Gilgamesh merely crouched slightly as he brought his sword to the side. “Go ahead and talk all cryptic as you wish! Truth or not, I know what I wish to do and I’ll cut through and escape my dreams even if I must!” Gilgamesh said. Whether he was in a world ruled by the very beast it did not matter for Gilgamesh would do as he said and cut through. With his fabled sword in hand Gilgamesh immediately dashed towards the opponent in a great burst of speed. Using the fabled skill of Zantetsuken Gilgamesh dashed past the enemy and attempted to slash the beast as he passed it.

Gilgamesh had met Diabolos’ challenge with right of his own. Claw met Blade as the two had their showdown. A classical exchange that allowed two, powerful beings, to put all they had into a final strike. Passing Gilgamesh’s blade with his claws sparks erupted, the deafening sound reverberating back without the touch of an echo. A deep, bestial rumble ripped across the landscape, the waves of sound visible across the distorted twists of the crystalline surface. The rippling wave progressed outward from Diabolos. The sound would bounce of an invisible wall of darkness that surrounded them. All around this barrier had held in all sounds, sights and smells. Nothing existed here without Diabolos’ permission. The Guardian floated there with his back to Gilgamesh. Floating forward before fully turning the Avatar of Dreams would come to face the Sword Hunter.
A soft sound began to fill the air. It was like slowly cracking glass. If one carefully looked it would appear that whatever barrier the Dream Avatar had up was slowly crumbling. Diabolos’s jaws parted as he let out a breathy exhale, amusement painting his eyes a dimmer hue. Everything seemed to fade into a less harsh light as the night was, once again, allowed to fill the void in the stead of this world that the Avatar had drawn them into. As the realm crumbled the Avatar glanced away, his arms at his side. No words were spoken for a time as the world of dreams shattered. It was Gilgamesh’s will after all, one he had forced the Avatar to accept. The shattered remains of the realm finally, completely, collapsed around them and melted into the Crystal Vale’s surface. Behind Diabolos sat Rinoa, her body weighed down from exhaustion. Angel stood by her side, dotting over the mistress of magic.
Her face was red with exhaustion and just behind Gilgamesh, as the illusion dissipated a large Runmaster collapsed over his book. The Heartless attacked them as they slept. Angelo had awoken to alert the warriors, but the Heartless had cast a spell to place them into a deep sleep and steal their strong hearts. Diabolos was awaken to counteract the spell and in response he placed the field into a realm. In the realm of dreams the Heartless wandered in search of the sleepers but had been caught by Rinoa, who was much used to traversing her Guardian’s world. She fought the Heartless, but was forced to use her magic, as her Para-Machines wouldn’t work in such a suspended state. Diabolos struggled to wake the Sword Hunter from his dreams of grandeur.
The Avatar chuckled. “I must say, I am impressed and tis a difficult thing to do.” He hovered backwards and slid behind Rinoa. Without his claws touching the ground the Avatar bent over and scooped his exhausted mistress into his arms, cradling her like a child. “But she cannot last much longer in her nightmare. She has lost too many to lose again.” He reached his claws out and pointed to Gilgamesh. “If you wish to realize your dreams Gilgamesh, if you want to be a hero. Seek out the ones with the Legendary Blades that can open any path closed to them.”
A dark portal opened up behind the Avatar. Rinoa had fallen asleep in his arms. Behind him was the realm to her Dreams. He dipped his head and floated back into the realm. The sorceress was not yet ready for this time. Angelo padded toward the portal, but stopped. Looking back at Gilgamesh she barked before running up to him. The dog set down a glowing feather. Wagging her stubby tail she barked a farewell and turned to run into the closing portal. If Gilgamesh could see her, see Rinoa for what she was, he would catch sight of a pair of wings, faded between dream and reality. The feathers were molting. Maybe one day in time she would come back, but the sorceress had to find the time she belonged to. She had to find her Squall.
Rinoa smiled weakly. “Gomen, sensei.” She spoke in her sleep. “I wanted to stay with you a bit longer… but I need to go there, to where we both promised.” With that the portal shut close.
The Crystal Vale returned to silence, save for the crackling campfire that Gilgamesh had made for them. All that remained of her was a feather.
Rinoa has left the thread.
