A smile escaped her otherwise serious expression, her former bodyguard was acting just as he did all that time ago, she wanted to jump on him and squeeze him tightly but to distract themselves away from the SOLDIER would be their downfall. They’d already had a similar situation before and perhaps it was a lesson they’d both learnt. With his voice and posture strong, Aerith saw in him what he was before, he was no longer lost and confused about who he was, he was Cloud and he had regained his strength. No matter how many times he spoke on this, she felt pride in what they had both overcome and with this she had the confidence to feel it was all going to work out.
Now, Sephiroth had withdrawn his sword and there was no immediate danger, of course there were other ways he could harm the two but there seemed to be more to the situation that there first seemed. He wasn’t here to just kill them both, there was something else…something more. Her hands still gripped her rod though, Aerith had only now noticed her palms were sweating over the metal. The Cetra was understandably tense and this was the feeling Sephiroth had placed within her, just the image of him made her feel uncomfortable. But he was here, alive, there was more to this that there first seemed.
“I see…” Aerith spoke under her breath, this was a slight turn of events, he had finally understood that Jenova couldn’t be his mother although it was clear there was a connection between it and SOLDIER. She turned to Cloud and whispered softly, “I can’t believe I’m saying this…but…” Aerith sighed, would her bodyguard understand? “If Sephiroth no longer thinks Jenova is his mother…perhaps there’s a chance to give him a little more humanity.” Her emerald eyes glanced up to the silver haired male and then back to the blonde, “I want to break this cycle, Cloud. Don’t you?” Her voice was louder now, only just so Sephiroth could hear her.
Her rod dissipated between her hands, this was not a time to fight, it was to talk and figure out their next step, “What do you think?” Again her eyes travelled back to the SOLDIER, “We all just want to know where we came from and where this all began. Let’s not fight anymore, maybe not forgive…but not fight.”

The fake-SOLDIER had said his piece and it all fell back into Sephiroth's hands again. What he said next would determine the outcome of this entire little reunion the three of them were attending. The silver-haired legend's words might have been effecting the flower girl from Midgar, but it wasn't working on the Delivery Boy. Cloud knew the man that stood before him. Though 'man' was a questionable word to use after everything the SOLDIER First Class had done in the past thanks to JENOVA. The 'Calamity from the Skies', Vincent once called the alien of which Sephiroth cut the head from. They were equally monstrous as each other, but you had the option to feel pity for the man in black coat for he was just as much a puppet, if not more so, then what Cloud was. The Delivery Boy didn't know all the details surrounding the silver-haired SOLDIER's birth and youth, but it was a pretty far-fetched thing to think, being born from an alien from another planet. Cloud himself was pretty much equal to Sephiroth in terms of strength and agility and he knew he was born a normal human, experimented on by Hojo of ShinRa which gave him his 'superhuman' abilities. The same must be true for Sephiroth.
With every inch of Masamune that was revealed, Cloud's arm rose up slowly in response, getting ready to grab Aerith and to get as far away from the 'Son of JENOVA' as quickly as possible. However, when Sephiroth changed his mind and sheathed the blade, the fake-SOLDIER relaxed and listened once more to what his nemesis had to say. Anyone could have told you that Sephiroth... Why has it taken you so long to realize? Cloud thought to himself as he looked the tall man before him up and down slowly, before returning his glowing mako eyes back onto those owned by Sephiroth. It had been a long time since Cloud had thought about it all, about Hojo and JENOVA and how that mad scientist had injected the cells of JENOVA into other beings. He didn't WANT to remember any of those days either. He was happy with his life as it was now, being able to walk free and help those who needed it. Not to remember all the pain... the suffering... being a prisoner within the ShinRa Mansion, left in a test tube to rot until the end of time. Zack had seen to their escape though...
Strife shook his head from side to side and looked into Sephiroth's eyes closely, watching him for any sign of retaliation or threat of attack. He kept his eyes on the silver-haired SOLDIER as he leaned into Aerith slightly to answer her back. ”It was thanks to Hojo that he thought JENOVA was his mother. Her cells mess with your head if you don't fight them. It happened to me on more then one occasion, only... Sephiroth wasn't able to shut her up I bet. She must have seen his strength and knew she'd be able to use him to complete her goals...” Cloud took a second to glance at Aerith and frown at her for a second. ”JENOVA also created the Remnants to find a piece of it's body and absorb it into themselves, reviving Sephiroth for it to control once more, seeing as it couldn't control him while Sephiroth was in the Lifestream...” Strife glanced back towards Sephiroth himself and shook his head from side to side as he frown spread further across his face, his brow darkening, making his eyes appear to glow brighter.
”That's what I think at least... I know who my mother is and she certainly wasn't an alien from outer space.” Cloud inched away from Aerith and surprisingly took a step towards Sephiroth, his head tilting up a fraction so he could keep a solid look on the SOLDIER's face. He stared at the man before him in silence for a second or two before he finally nodded his head. ”If you learn the truth about your past, about your birth... whatever it is you're seeking... if it means you'll stop haunting me and threatening my friends, my home, my loved ones... the innocents of every world and every world itself out there... Cloud started to explain as he pointed a finger up to the skies to help demonstrate his point. ”... Then I'll tell you what I know about this 'Goddess.'” Cloud felt himself shaking his head subtly from side to side. There was something about this whole situation that stunk really badly. Sephiroth was his nemesis, his arch rival, the man who had tried to kill him on several occasions in the past. Well, 'kill' might be the wrong word. There was little doubt in Cloud's mind that if Sephiroth fought with every last ounce of his power, that no one, no one at all, would be able to stop him. It was because of his confidence, his cockiness, his attitude that Cloud was able to exploit weaknesses and gain the win in their battles.
”All I know is that the Goddess is supposedly called 'Minerva' and that Zack told me about a tall man in a red coat, a SOLDIER First Class of ShinRa, who was totally obsessed with the Goddess. I believe you know him. Goes by the name of Genesis.”

The Cetra smiled at Cloud, he understood both her and the need to end this, it was a spiral that was going nowhere fast and she assumed that he must be tired of fighting. Although it wasn’t the stamina that she feared but his heart and soul, he had seen him at his lowest almost and it wasn’t something she wanted repeated. The blonde turned to her and explained a few things that had happened, Aerith of course knew most of this considering her time with Cloud and within the Lifestream but was glad for the words spoken to her. They showed her Cloud’s mental state and that he was tough and stronger than Sephiroth right now, although she had never doubted that. When Cloud had finished talking Aerith nodded, there were some things she didn’t understand of course and this Genesis was one of them. Zack knew him and she was sure of that but anything else was a blur, she couldn’t place the man in her thoughts. “Lucrecia.” She finally spoke, she had learnt that from Vincent who told them that she had given birth to the man stood before them. “Lucrecia is someone you must seek out, find her and Genesis, then you may have your answers.” Turning to Cloud she smiled and then closed her eyes, she would need to get them out of here without a fight. With the name given, Aerith knew that he would be able to find her, she had journeyed to the Lifestream of course and lived within it and there had been no sign of her, with the guilt she would have carried there was no reason for Aerith to believe that she wouldn’t see her there. Her hands clasped together and she turned to Sephiroth, it was the only thing she could think of to do…and she would risk it. “Great Gospel.” Her lips parted and she spoke clear and beneath her breath, within a second waves of water sprouted up in front of her like a wall between them, showering the two with its light. “Come on!” Her delicate hand reached for his and grabbed it tight, “This way!” She headed for the trees, within here there was a grotto somewhere and she could talk to him about going back to Gaia with Rufus. For now she believed the SOLDIER had other things on his mind and would need to search out this other information, for now…they were safe. [Aerith leaves the thread]

With his words spoken, he had followed up his side of the deal. Sephiroth explained why he wanted to know of the Goddess and so Cloud in turn revealed what he knew. Zack and Genesis were the best options for the One-Winged Angel to speak too, especially this Genesis character. Cloud vaguely remembered meeting him but the memories were very blurry and mixed together. It had been a long time ago. Odds were that Genesis was probably dead, since no word or record of him had resurfaced in, well, who knows how long? That wasn't important. Sephiroth was the threat here, regardless of what actions or decisions he made about his own past or family, Sephiroth would always be a threat; to Cloud, to Aerith, to everyone Strife has ever known and loved. That torment would never go away, only when Sephiroth was truly slain would the nightmares end.
Cloud stepped back and shielded his eyes for a second from the Great Gospel that Aerith had summoned. He lowered his arm back down when he felt the young woman besides him take a soft grip on his other arm, feeling her pull him away from the water and the One-Winged Angel. It seemed that his time here was done and Aerith had realized that neither Sephiroth nor the Delivery Boy was be the first to walk away from the other, so she took the initiative and pulled the fake-SOLDIER away from the silver-haired SOLDIER. It was a safe thing to do also, since Sephiroth must have had a lot to think about right now regarding the information he had received but also to deal with the Great Gospel. With that in mind, Cloud turned around and begun to follow Aerith down the hill and into the trees nearby, disappearing from view entirely along with the Cetra.
