Hey hey heeeeeeey! Falko was KIND OF A BUM so now I have this jerkoff to play with. Despite coming from a darker Cavia game he fits surprisingly well with the setting (well besides the period of insanity but details) and I'd like to give him some mileage.
Let's talk a little about Nier first! For those familiar with the game of origin, he's basically gone through the first half of it (but without meeting Kainé or Emil, and with Weiss simply imparting the Verses to him rather than following him) and then found his world destroyed by Heartless and his sister lost to him, with the five-year timeskip playing out as him world-hopping. For those not familiar with the game, well, I already told you the important part I think. Full profile's in the sig though.
If you have an idea based on the above, share it! I just have a few basic concepts that occur to me:
Nier's whole life at this moment is dedicated to finding his sister. He is in fact considered neutral because, if it meant getting her back, he would end entire worlds and steel himself against any regret he might hold.
I don't expect this plot to be resolved ever, since it involves a character who will probably never exist on the forum. But he will do anything for information concerning her or the Heartless that he believes have taken her. Rated Harry Mason for Have You Seen A Little Girl.
Following the events that lead to the loss of Yonah and the Shell World, Nier has declared a personal war against the Heartless. He is likely not even a blip on their radar (unless he is? He's been at it for five years after all) but when he knows they're present he packs up and sets out for murder. Heartless get no quarter. Heartless characters, regardless of their intelligence, receive the same treatment. Villains who actively manipulate the Heartless are slightly lower on the latter but will probably face his wrath anyway.
Basically Heartless killing is a great thing to bond over. There are also things about the Heartless that he does not fully understand, so he could probably use a primer or two from someone who knows their stuff. He would be more than willing to help out Keybladers when he learns about them, and especially when he finds out that they actively attract Heartless.
While Nier no longer lives in the bleak existence of the Shell World, nor needs to purchase medicine for Yonah, he still has living expenses that can't always be solved over a campfire.
Nier likes to help people. If someone has a need, he's more than willing to play fetch quest for them. He always asks up front of some form of payment is available, but the actual nature of the reward isn't terribly important. Low sums or even bartered goods are acceptable, as long as nobody's asking too much of him. Furthermore no job is too inane for him to accept. Pay is pay.
Someone could potentially hire him for some reason or another. Violence could be involved but is not necessary, as he'd probably mow your lawn or (attempt to) do your taxes for a modest sum. Alternately he might find himself side by side with, or even competing against, a fellow merc. If the latter he's pragmatic enough to consider offering splitting the reward or some such, if the situation calls for a team effort.
Nier will rarely do something blatantly illegal, and he can never be coerced into accepting a job to kill a person. He may accept a lot of odd work but he's no assassin.
While Nier still expresses his hate for Heartless, he doesn't really give much of a damn about darkness itself, provided it isn't used to hurt anyone. His own Sealed Verses are powers of darkness, so he has no reason to discriminate. This alone could be reason enough to chill with someone in a similar situation.
Alternately, if someone was extremely zealous about the light and dark he might find himself making an unexpected enemy. Maybe the situation will be resolved. Maybe it won't be.

Nier and Yonah

Nier and Work
While Nier no longer lives in the bleak existence of the Shell World, nor needs to purchase medicine for Yonah, he still has living expenses that can't always be solved over a campfire.

Nier and the power of Darkness
While Nier still expresses his hate for Heartless, he doesn't really give much of a damn about darkness itself, provided it isn't used to hurt anyone.
