What was this place?
Dr. Facilier kicked a piece of garbage around as he inspected the place. It looked like a ruined castle, but had technology that, even ruined, perplexed the Shadowman with how bizarre it was. How was he supposed to get around this place, let alone find this thing he was after. His Friend told him to find a big, fat, walking, talking moron of a cat that could summon Heartless. Facilier thought His Friend was pulling his leg, but decided against questioning him. He had already seen the power he had at his disposal and it was enough to let the good Doctor know that he was not someone to cross. Besides, without him, he'd still be trapped in the Loa's world. As much as he despised being indebted to His Friend, he preferred being alive far better.
Soon, Facilier was frustrated even more. This place was a maze, one that he had no hope of navigating. Even worse, he didn't find anyone. No dark fairies, no big cats, not even a Heartless around. His Friend told him this was where a massive army of Heartless was amassed to attack the town they called "Radiant Garden", but now there was nothing. Well... when in doubt. Facilier hit his cane against the ground and Shadow Demons sprang up around him, spreading up the walls and smiling sinisterly down at the voodoo bokor. "Awright, I've had enough of this wild goose chase! You find me this Pete and bring him here! And I want him alive, got it? I didn't come all the way just to get a whole lotta nothing! NOW GO!" The Shadow Demons spread out, searching for this Pete that their master so desperately wanted to find.

Why was Pete the one who always took all the lumps in life? The closest thing Pete had to luck had run out at last; not only did he lose contact with Maleficent all together but the heartless have all but dismissed him as a proper commander. No longer did he have the pride of a future-ruler-of-all-worlds; he was a lowly chump wandering an old castle. He was hoping he could get some nostalgia out of it, but all he obtained was a heavy heart and a rumbling gut.
This castle did not bring back memories of the glory days like he had wished it too. No, this place only reminded him of all the times he's failed. Of how much of a putz he was. Is. If only he had been more competent, then maybe Maleficent would have stuck around...if she were still alive. Doh wandering around this restored castle wasn't doing him any good, he had to get out of there. He had to figure out his next move; maybe that skeleton dude still has work...oh dear, what was this? Pete was just about to say his goodbyes to this world for good, when a strange band of creatures came rushing toward him from around a corner. Were...were they heartless? They didn't look like any heartless he had seen.
Pete held up a hand and in a gruff voice shouted to the heartless, "Stop right dere! Halt!...Please?" The strange creatures did not listen to him, they just slid across the wall toward his location. Pete decided that waiting for them to come to him probably wasn't a smart choice, so he turned to ran. And ran he did, as fast as his stubby legs could carry him. He could have sworn he felt a few tugs on his ankles but he did not stop to confirm it. He just ran and ran and ran, increasingly becoming panicked as the swirling shadows behind him became louder. Were they growing in numbers? Once again, he did not bother to confirm. He just kept running, and he probably would have ran from these weirdos for eternity if it weren't for the tall guy.
Pete had rounded a corner and nearly slammed into a lanky man. He was able to stop himself just in time though, but fell on his behind thanks to the momentum. He quickly whipped his head around to see how far behind the shadows were, only to see that they've disappeared. He huffed unhappily before standing up and looking back to the tall guy. "Hey what's the big idea bub? Ya can't just stand around starin' inta space. I coulda been chow for...er-" The longer Pete looked at the man, the more uncomfortable he became. He gave off a wicked bad vibe...he should leave. He huffed and turned to do so.

As Pete turned to leave, he would find that the Shadow Demons hadn't disappeared. Instead, they had simply hidden from him and when he turned, pounced on Pete's Shadow, restraining it. This had the side-effect of restraining Pete himself. Shadow Voodoo magic was a funny thing. Dr. Facilier, who nearly had to dodge the big cat to keep from pancaked, smirked at Pete. The guy had "Oaf" written all over him. If this wasn't the guy His Friend wanted, it had to have been a very close second. Facilier walked around Pete so the big oaf could see him. He smiled his best trustworthy smile, which was somewhat mitigated by the Shadow Demons.
"Petey! Pal! You're a hard cat to find, you know that?" Facilier then took Pete's hand and shook it. "Now I don't want you running off until ya heard me out, got it? You seem like a guy who knows these worlds better than I do, so I just need you to help me out! Help US out! I got a friend who can make your wildest dreams come true." Facilier smiled as he tapped his cane, Heartless coming out of the shadows at his beck and call. "For one thing, you get these little guys to help you out." Facilier didn't know that Pete already had that power. His Friend didn't tell him that much about this cat. "And if that ain't enough, I'm sure we can work something out."

Pete nearly had a heart attack when he saw those shadow monsters again. He yelped loudly as they lunged for him; throwing his arms up to protect himself from their blows. All he felt were passing winds. Pete reluctantly opened his eyes to find that they had disappeared again...odd. Pete shook his head, he had to get out of there asap. He stepped forward to begin his sprint out of the castle-or at least tried to. Pete found that he could not lift his legs off the ground. That...that can't be good.
While Pete struggled in place to get himself moving, the tall man smoothly approached and began yapping. Pete momentarily stopped his writhing as the stranger stated his name. How-how did he know it? Has he met this guy before? Pete looked about in a confused fashion, was he being pranked here? He turned his gaze to the man as he clasped his hand and gave it a firm shake. Who was this guy? Why was he stuck to the floor? Where did those creatures go? So...many...questions!
Pete struggled some more while also listening to the tall man. He seemed to need Pete's help, and Pete would growl at such a silly idea. He ain't a charity! He didn't just...give...away...services...GRAH why couldn't he escape this thing? Did he step in rubber cement? Pete's increasingly hilarious attempts to break free of his immobility would abruptly cease with the man summoning a few heartless. He gasped at this sight and gawked at him. Where did he get the power to summon those? Did...did he have contact with Maleficent? It was a stretch but such a thought suddenly made Pete much more interested.
Of course the man went on to offering control of the heartless in exchange for Pete's help. He was most certainly not from Maleficent. Pete's spirits were down but his interest stuck around. Folding his arms Pete finally decided to throw out a complaint, "Now see here, I've already got a gig and control over them heartless! I ain't interested in addin' to my workload...and, er, even if I was I can't accept work from weirdos who don't give me their names! Doh who are ya anyhow!?" Pete wasn't going to tell this guy the heartless weren't listening to him anymore. He didn't need to feel worse about himself. In the back of Pete's mind he was rather intrigued about this job opportunity...no no no! He was loyal to Maleficent and Maleficent alone...though, while he was stuck there he might as well get a bit more information...

Facilier smiled. The dope was resisting the opportunity, which wasn't exactly a surprise. He had no idea that the voodoo bokor was capable of clairvoyance. It was all in the cards, after all. His cards, as he pulled out his tarot deck and started shuffling. "Now, I know you ain't gonna try to lie to me, Petey. If you really do have control over the Heartless, why don't you take them from me? After all, I'm a novice to these little buggers, it should be easy for someone like you." Again, the oaf didn't know about Facilier's Friend, so it would be amusing to see what he would do. "But you're right, where are my manners? Here." Facilier pulled a random card out of the dark and with a slight flourish, the tarot card became a business card, which he handed to Pete. It said, "Dr. Facilier. Dreams made real." "Now, let's see what makes ya'll tick, shall we?" Despite the fact that he had a deck in his hand, there were now but three cards... which quickly became one with another flourish of Facilier's hand.
"Now as for your past, I ain't gonna waste too much time, you've been pushed around all your life." Facilier showed Pete a card with an image of what startlingly looked like him as his past self, yelling at the past version of Mickey, who seemed to have hijacked Pete's Steamboat. Again. "You've been pushed around by a mouse..." Facilier then started flipping the cards, as Facilier now seemed to be holding a deck of cards again. It seemed that the image was doing a small animation, akin to a flipbook. The image became Pete being accosted by Goofy and what looked like his son. "... by dogs..." The image then became Maleficent scolding Pete about one of his mistakes. "... and more recently, you've been pushed around by your boss." Facilier smirked at Pete. "Honestly, big guy like you and all you do is take orders. Aren't you tired of living in the margins? Just getting by while the more fortunate laugh behind your back? Don't you wanna get back at those morons?!" Facilier suddenly had a card appear in his other hand. On it was an image of Pete exploring some ruins, looking rather despondent. "Now all ya got is yourself and you're not even pleased with that. But the new you, the you I see..." Facilier gave Pete another card, this one having an image of Pete reclining on a throne with riches and a crown no less. His feet seemed to be resting on Mickey's back. "... is EXACTLY the cat you always wanted to be."
Facilier then offered Pete his hand. "Do we got a deal now? Come on... won't you shake a poor sinner's hand?"

The man challenged Pete's ability to control the heartless, to which Pete responded with a growl. Of course he didn't intend to prove the man wrong, he had no reason to prove himself to him at all...even if he didn't technically control them anymore. Pete was about to state as much when the man slapped a card into his hand. Pete looked to the card as the man did some sort of action in the background. "Doctor Fa..faci...Fff-" Pete was having trouble understanding the good doctor's name, and wasn't given enough time to figure it out before he started squawking.
As the Doctor spoke, Pete would increasingly become confused. The cards he would be shown were impossible; How did this man know so much about him? Was he a stalker? Some sort of psychic? A hippie? So many questions! Said questions would however take a backseat to the fact that, although it was strange information to know, Pete could not deny that what the man told him was true. All his life he had acted as fate's plaything. In retrospect, he was probably the most unlucky being to ever walk the face of any world out there. The memories of his misfortune weighed heavy in Pete's heart, which made the Doctor's final offer all the more tempting. He was shown an image of the supposed future, with Pete sitting on high with the appearance of a king.
Yeah, why shouldn't he get a day in the limelight!? Why shouldn't he be the one to bark orders for once? Has he not earned his keep? Has he not taken his fair share of lumps? He deserved a reward! Or at least some recognition for all the crud he goes through on a daily basis. All the work and toil he puts into his duties...that bone man would have rewarded him. If only he had realized sooner how he had been abandoned, maybe then he'd already have the success and fortune he deserved to have! It wasn't like it was too late though, the doctor was offering him such a chance right now!
However, Pete was less sure about this Doctor fffff-so-and-so. The fat cat stared at his outstretched hand, and with every second of staring came a little drop of logical thought to delay his answer. Now if he knew his genres correctly, making a deal like this doesn't usually end in one's favor. There was most definitely a catch, but for now Pete could not place his finger on what it could be. The danger in this decision was immense, but at the moment Pete figured he had very little choice. It was this, or more moping around in an eternal rut. He was done with ruts. Forever. After a moment's more of hesitation, Pete finally clasped the Doctor's hand. His grip was firm and sure, and the glare he gave the Doctor was just as much so. Pete tightened his grip slightly as he began to shake it up and down. He hoped he would not regret this...

Dr. Facilier raised an eyebrow at Pete. Boy, this guy was an idiot. Luckily, oafs made for easy marks. Facilier smirked and vigorously shook Pete's hand. A strange feeling came over Pete, as if he could feel someone laughing from very far away. Probably nothing. "Well, it has been a pleasure dealing with you, Pete! I'll just leave these guys with you then. They're yours now. And as for my friend? He says to cause as much chaos and spread as much of the Heartless throughout the worlds as possible. HOW you do it is up to you, Petey. That's all My Friend wants. No orders, just a... little request in exchange for your reward." Facilier smiled. Proper wording was still necessary but he had this sap hooked. Maybe he'd even be able to get this guy to overthrow His Friend and get all that lovely power for himself. The Loa wouldn't dare touch him with that kind of power and Pete was the brainless sucker he could use.
But that was far in the future. For now, Facilier had business to attend to. He snapped his fingers and the Shadow Demons that had pinned Pete's shadow to the wall reverted into Facilier's own shadow. "I'll just let you skedaddle on outta here, Petey. Go have fun with your new friends! You've earned it!" Facilier began to walk off and then remembered something. "By the way, it's Facilier, for future reference." He then continued to walk off, sighing with relief at a job well done.
