LIGHTNING (n.) a sudden stroke of fortune
Lightning moved to follow the woman. Honestly this place was really very friendly. But with the thought that they were, perhaps, used to travelers it was not uncommon. Such had been the case on Pulse not to long ago. Gates were commonplace, but even with that in mind she wondered if gates were really common here. Was this woman, Scarlet, different? She did not seem at all touched by chaos, but than again you could not feel the natural chaos in a person unless they were compelled by its more corrupt properties, which too did not make it so that they were evil. She held her passive opinion on the woman. Her worries lay more with this world. Its purity was something to covet. She hoped that nothing would ever come to corrupt it.
When they arrived at the castle, Lighting glanced away from Scarlet. She was right. Though she had gotten a bit of information, she did not quite learn as to where exactly these engineers were. She did not even catch their names, or in fact species. By the inhabitants they all seemed to be some sort of talking animal. In Vahalla all creatures spoke in a way, but they did not walk around with such culture. Was it perhaps because animals like this were simply brighter? Did they see the world more brightly where humans dwelt in a very different set of mind that was, at times, on par with the gods whom they shared their hearts with?
Regardless, the women now seemed up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Lightning was a bit embarrassed for her error, and she certainly would not openly admit the troubling fact.
The two chipmunks waddled across the open Garden. They had high hopes they would find another one of those treasures. But it seems they found something a bit scarier. The sleeping Navidon had settled itself in the sun, only for the two, rambunctious rodents to run into his face with a forceful bump. The armored beast hissed out, startling the two small creatures.
“Uh oh...”
They were in trouble. The beast pushed to its feet and hissed out. Two lovely snack lay be fore it.
“Heeeeeelp!” They shouted as they ran to try and escape from the Armadillion.
But the pair soon found themselves trapped between a tall hedge and a hard place: that hard place being the Navidon. It hissed out as it cornered its lunch. The cry for help had carried long and far. Perhaps it was good enough distraction to disrupt Lightning's embarrassment?

Scarlet wasn't evil in the traditional sense. She wasn't out for blood or destruction. She was a bit power hungry sometimes, but that didn't seem to stop her a whole lot. She liked to create and build things, powerful things. She truly loved to invent and learn. She would do whatever she could to keep in power and useful. The toys she made were usually dangerous and that usually was a rather nice plus to her job.
However, with everything around her failing, she needed to find a new place. She had overheard the rumors on Gaia about the WRO handling a lot of the chaos with Shinra losing it's power. She'd of thought about joining the WRO had Reeve not been the head of it and if they wouldn't arrest her on the spot. She had armed those freaks from DEEPGROUND. That might be enough to get her executed. Though, if avalanche found her first, she'd be in for a world of pain.
The woman had burned enough bridges. So, she needed to find a new start. Hopefully something that involved her hands.
Scarlet turned her eyes back to look at Lightning. Her lack of words in response and expression told the red woman all she needed to know. "I'll take that as a no." She stated, disapprovingly. So, not only were they pretty much lost in their mission, the chance of locating these rodents were even lower.
Normally, scarlet would have berated whoever had failed in her eyes. But, that would either get her injured or abandoned. Scarlet might not be a people person, but she wasn't stupid either. She needed Lightning and she was going to stay close until she was able to get the heck out of this cartoon from hell.
Another thing she would never do would get involved in a fight that wasn't her own. But being in a new world, there seemed to be a lot of new rules she had to follow to survive. The scream for help caused her to look in its direction. Scarlet had every intention of ignoring it and going about her business. However, from Lightnings actions, it was all too clear what was going to happen. Scarlet let out a displeased sigh and waved her hand faintly. "Go. I'll catch up." The woman pulled her gun to check which materia she had on hand.

LIGHTNING (n.) a sudden stroke of fortune
Lightning felt something was off. The silence of the gardens was unsettling. Sapphire eyes shifted as they scanned her surroundings. The warrior was always alert, lest find herself on the wrong end of a pair of Behemoth horns. The warrior exhaled as a pair of cries reached her ears. Her body tightened. Though it was none of her concern, she has learned that sometimes lending a hand could push the difference between life and death. Time was neither cruel nor kind, but an indifferent tyrant when it came to following its harsh dance into reality. Her body shifted, the armored mistress already light on her feet, seemed to dash forward with purpose. Whether Scarlet choose to approach or not, it was her decision. Lightning knew that sometimes running headlong into battle could be life threatening and foolish. The woman in red seemed the least capable in battle. She looked more the part of fierce leader: all the bluster and none of the experience. With little else to prompt her, the warrior took off running. Her take off was silent, a cascade of feathers flowing behind her. “Look out!” The brothers cried when the Navidon's massive jaws came to snap down over them.
With a flight of speed indicative of the pair of rodents they took off over the larger reptile's underbelly, with their prize in hand. The brothers worked hard to patter away, only to cut off past Lightning who was rushing toward the scene of peril. The Valkyrie's eyes widened a moment when she saw the familiar clump of frozen time in the chipmunk's paws. The two wholly believed the shining shard of twisted and crystallized time was a Gummi Piece, it certain looked like one, and just the fancy piece they needed to complete their latest venture to outdo a certain old man in Radiant Garden. Lightning swirled about to catch sight of the pairs of tiny legs scuffling under the Artefact. Something was carrying it! A roar broke her from her concerned thoughts. Turning the warrior was given to come face to face with a ferocious and hungry Navidon.
Before those nasty claws could rend her face the warrior shifted her weight and threw her body back, taking to the air before completing a full flip. When she landed she bounded back a step and reached to draw her Gunblade, the Overture. In the meantime the two brotherly duo held their claim to the Artefact, which much looked like raw Materia. Many eyes would have many views on just what this treasure was, but it did resonate with a faint energy that certainly did belong to a mother Crystal. The Navidon let out a threatening hiss and flared its protective scales, rattling them loudly. The noise was a skin raising sound that was like rattling bones.
“You're challenging me?” Lightning demanded.
There was no way the voracious and territorial predator was going to let a snack like Lightning get away. The Valkyrie scoffed and narrowed her eyes. This was perhaps the reason things were so unstable. She glanced back, seeing the rodents holding the Artefact. She lashed her blade across the air, causing it to ring. The Overture softly hummed, a quiet song of rapture sung over the warrior's head. She poised the gunblade toward the voracious reptile and called back to Scarlet.
“That's our key out of this place!” She sneered at the lizard, who seemed none inclined on backing down. “I'll make you submit.” She charged forward, the beast moving in to take a bite out of the warrior.
The Navidon bit down, only to get a mouthful of shield as the guardian blocked the attack. She exhaled and pushed back, violently shoving the Navidon's head back before crashing her blade on its scaled hide. Chip and Dale heard the women loudly plotting to take their treasure.
“No way, this is ours!” The rodent brothers shouted in their high pitched voices and moved to take off running with their prize.
“Wait—damn it!” The warrior tried to turn and chase after the pair, but the Navidon came down upon her and headbutted her, sending her sliding back. She had luckily blocked the blow with her shield, but that did not mean all of the damage had been held at bay.

Scarlet was not one to run into a battle without preparing. She wanted to be one step ahead of her enemy so she could use the least amount of energy possible. That, and so there was a greater chance she would win her battles. The woman had checked which materia was in her weapon before checked her ammo. She was set for a battle need be. However, she was not much of a fighter.
The woman in red walked calmly after Lightning, showing up shortly after the armored woman. She tilted her head faintly to examine the beast. It was not too strange compared to the demons of her own world. It looked more normal than those heartless. She quickly noticed two small rodents. Normally, she'd of ignored such a detail or walked the other direction. However, here they were people and they had an item that caught her eye. Was that materia? There was no way material such as that could be found on a world like this. Could there?
Lightning shouted about the item which caused the two rodents to shout back and take off running. Scarlet aimed her gun to take them out when she watched lightning get slammed back. The woman rolled her eyes and backed up, taking a few shots at the creature before curing lightning. "We should fight the beast later if necessary. Out priority is that item if you are sure it can get us off this world." [/blockquote]

LIGHTNING (n.) a sudden stroke of fortune
Navidon were not easy opponents. Their shells were tough, completely impenetrable by weapons of any sort. One would have to strike just at the right weakness to shatter the carapace shell and make them vulnerable. Lightning tightly gripped the her blade in hand, her body tensed up for combat, but still loose in case she needed to move efficiently. Her glimmering, blue eyes tared into the beady orbs of the Navidon as it hissed and parted its powerful jaws hungrily. Lightning scoffed. The woman did not seem to be the sort that was capable of magic, though many did not seem so due the the varying differences in their very existences. While Chaos flowed through the Valkyrie's heart, it was not the same that flowed through the woman in red. Examining her surroundings the warrior in armor could not fathom just how this beast simply sneaked in unnoticed. It had to be that Artefact. That meant there was a gate, and perhaps a way to send this woman back from whence she came. Lighting gave pause when she heard gunfire. Now that was an unfamiliar weapon, but bullets were bullets, and absolutely useless against a Navidon's hide. Each metal shell shot from the gun's barrel would cleanly ricochet off the beast's armored body. The attack only seemed to agitate it. Lightning felt the familiar warmth of a healing spell brush over her light injuries from her all-too-close encounter with the beast's head.
“Positive.” Lightning announced to the blond beauty's questioning.
The beast would lurch forward, but this time Lightning was able to pull up her shield and knockback any attempt on the fiend's part to make her his first meal.
“Hya!” She slashed the lizard across the face before leaping back.
Her agile form was none weighed down by the armor she wore and barely a sound it made as her form glided through the air and metal boots touched down. She turned her head, but held her shield up to prevent the beast from surprising her with those powerful jaws. Her crystal blue eyes caught sight of the Artefact's glimmer. She pointed her blade out.
“There!” She shouted as the rodent twins rushed through the maze-like garden, toward the doors of their workshop, which was cracked open, just enough for them to squeeze through.
The Navidon would give chase, rushing toward Lightning. “Go!” She called to Scarlet to follow the rambunctious pair.
The Navidon was not so quick to give up, its prey hardly doing damage to its shell. The armored Valkyrie would shoot for getting into the room, but would keep behind Scarlet to make sure the unarmored woman was not injured. Inside their workshop the brothers rushed toward a partially constructed Gummiship. They felt safe now that they were inside, the long maze of machinery, pipes spewing steam and winding steps would keep them from becoming prey to that monster or those women's clear urge to steal their treasure.
“Alright Dale, see if you can push it in!” Chip cried.
“Roger!” Dale saluted and, along with Dale, would alternate jumping up and down on the Artefact to try and force it into place as if it were a Gummi piece.

Scarlet wasn't big in actually fighting. She was more willing to let her machines do the talking. However, she didn't have anything extremely impressive with her today. The bullets she had fired ricocheted off the beast. It seemed that it wasn't as fragile as she had expected. The woman surveyed it for a moment as she backed up. This really wasn't a fight she wanted to have just yet. If necessary, they could handle it later. Right now, the priority was getting that materia.
From Lightnings exclamation, the mechanic of the group nodded. That was enough to convince her that she could get off this world. At this point in time, she'd do almost anything to get off this chipper cartoony world. She needed to get the two of them out of here. It took her a moment to plan something as she backed up. They needed to chase after the two rats who'd taken the item.
Scarlet swiftly raised her arm. "Get ready to make a break for it. We are going after them." As quick as she'd raised her arm, it didn't mean much. The ability that was cast appeared slowly and moved to crush the enemy. Demi squished it enough to distract the creature before she threw a smoke bomb. It exploded and Scarlet quickly started off. She was quick for a woman in heels.

LIGHTNING (n.) a sudden stroke of fortune
It was not too difficult to outrun a Navidon on foot. They were slow. Even when chasing prey a Navidon’s strength was only something that they gave out in bursts to make sure their jaws clamped tightly over their meals. When Scarlet and Lightning pulled their way toward the doors Light would reach out and pull them open with force. She would wait until Scarlet went down first, making sure to make use of that shield on her wrist. It was not something she ever had to use before. She was never trained to protect in such a manner. Her sword and feet were the greatest disaster wrought upon her enemies. She was able to charge and evade enemies while rending them through with her gunblade. The Navidon stampeded toward the women. Lightning’s eyes snapped toward the beast. In a flurry of feathers the woman would twirl with her body as she gripped her gunblade. The Overture seemed to sing as the blade cut across the air. The Navidon let out a roar as its mouth parted and the beast lunged once more. Once again the Valkyrie would swing down the crying blade to deflect that beak. She flipped back and opened fire on the beast, the clap of a bullet roaring through the air before crashing into its carapace and bouncing off.
Lighting backed up and slammed the door closed, only to hear as its massive head slammed into it. The warrior let out a sigh of relief. They were safe, for now. Looking around it would seem that they found themselves down inside an underground basement of some sort? At least that was what it looked like to the warrior. Stairs led down to an open area, more stairs leading up and around, some uselessly so. Was this a purposeful design, one to ward off intruders? Or perhaps it was a structure that followed through with the rest of the town above and had the strangest architecture one could find. Regardless of either situation, or the posed questions, the warrior would carry herself down the steps with grace, taking care to observe the new surroundings. Being underground did not necessarily mean they were safe. Hitting the landing of the steps she did not lose the tense stance that made sure she was ready for anything, but she relaxed so that she would not wind up her muscles and strain them.
Soon the grunts and shouts of the two brothers trying to force down the Artefact into what appeared to be a … colorful child’s toy? But this toy was enormous and certainly out spanned the two tiny rodents. What was it? The woman looked around. There were various contraptions that certainly looked like they were in use for some sort of construction. A garage. But for housing what? Not that multicolored monstrosity over there? When the women were spotted the two chipmunks perked up.
“Hey!” Chip called. “Get out of here!”
Dale nodded and added: “Yeah! This is secret work!”
“Quiet Dale!” Chip demanded.
“Whoops!” He placed his paw over his mouth and hunched down a bit.
They stood on the piece of twisted crystal, the raw material a glittering source of power to those who knew how to use it. The rodents moved to yank the partially jammed in piece and held it over their heads.
“Thieves!” The brothers called.
All the while the Navidon was bashing its head against the door trying to bust in.

The woman in armor was quite a fighter, Scarlet had to admit that much. It is possible that she would be able to rival the Turks or even Avalanche with the amount of strength she had. Though, the woman would never go as far as saying that she could take on Sephiroth. That monster was in a class of his own. He was too powerful for one being and it eventually went to his head. That being was the cause of all the chaos that fell upon ShinRa. It made her sick even thinking about it. She had lost her status because of a freak like him. It was highly unlikely that he could even distinguish himself from the J-cells scattered about his veins. Hojo was a sick man, it was pathetic that no one really figured that our soon enough.
Scarlet glanced back after entering the doors. It had been quite heavy which surprised the Weapon's Director. However, she had paused to make sure that Lightning made it through alive. It would be a waste for Scarlet to make it and her only ride home to perish. Scarlet had some materia on her with a decent amount of magical power left. The two could handle it even if Scarlet was forced to stay back and only maintain Lightning's health.
Thankfully, Lightning was unharmed as she pulled the door shut behind her. Scarlet let out a soft sigh of relief, doing her best to mask it on her face. She didn't need anyone seeing her worry about something so trivial as a life. After a moment, Scarlet turned to face the hallway they had entered. It was a bit dark compared to the town above as she moved down the steps before Lightning. The woman leading kept her hand on the wall to her side to keep from falling in her heels. The last thing she wanted to do was injure herself in such a uninteresting matter.
The two hit the landing about the same time. They continued toward the noises to stumble across the rodent's workshop. Unlike Lightning, Scarlet knew exactly what it was. The tools were a bit different, but she was able to deduce what everything was. That was when the two chipmunks spotted the pair. Scarlet simply rolled her eyes. "Pathetic..." She grumbled. Did they really think they could win such a battle? All she had to do was flick them or shake them off the item. It was truly that easy. "Just hand it over... it's obviously not yours. It doesn't fit your precious ship. So you are both aware it's not a part of your little puzzle." She thought it would be safer to try logic first. If that did not work, there was always option B where she simply took it.
Scarlet extended her hand after taking a few extra steps towards the two. She was not in the mood for playing any games today. Smoke Bomb - 1 post cooldown Gravity - Useable[/blockquote]

NOTES. In all of the world, she only sought to do for others what they could not do for themselves. |
to the soldier, the civilian, the martyr, the victim.
THIS IS WAR
It was strange hearing words chitter from this lips of rodents, but thus far it has been a strange and unexpected day overall. Perhaps it had been the presence it the Artefact it the woman's distress that had summoned the Valkyrie, but whatever it was she would be glad to move on and seal that dangerous gate. The longer it stayed opened the more did it risk the worlds. The knight was governed by Etro, the Goddess of Death, and it was her duty to keep balance that cycle. All life eventually ended, but insufferable was the path of absolute destruction that cast all life into a Timeless, Unseen World of End. Imperfections were decided by the Gods and perfection were demanded by the humans born of their imperfect visions. She could not help but feel that the cycle each world lived was separated from one another. Each new world stood at an even greater distance than the last. None of them had any connection, shielded from one another in a darkness that cloaked the timelines. If this was true, the worlds had no hope of uniting, but perhaps she was merely blind to them, and not yet able to see what it was that connected them. Perhaps the worlds were best split as such.
Regardless of this the Gate had no place here, as far as she knew. While the beast pounded at the door behind them, it would only countdown what time remained for them to retrieve the Artefact from the rodent twins. Scarlet was already up for snatching it from their clutches, but Lightning did not need another fight on her hands or them running away and hiding. Mice seemed very good at that. The Valkyrie could only hold out her hand to stop the temptress’ advances, lest scare the little ones. Lightning settled her blade against her hip and stepped forward with care. She out stretched her hand, showing she was unarmed, blue eyes turning up to the small creatures. What could she tell them, that would convince them with a clear certainty that the Artefact was not theirs, at least not theirs alone.
“I’m sorry.” Her soft voice trickled through the hollow sanctum.
The garage carried the rumbling tone, bouncing it from wall to wall. Her brows raised, a sincere parting of her mouth as she tried to reach out to the pair’s sensibility. Perhaps they had it, perhaps they did not.
Light shook her head and lowered her hands. “We need that to get home…” She glanced over to Scarlet. “We're lost.” Lightning spoke with a clear, asserting tone that was neither cruel, nor kind, but layered with obvious truth. “Please, that is our only way back home.”
Lighting had been lost, at first. She did not know the reason she was sent to this world, nor the circumstances that would allow her to leave, but it was not clear. Scarlet did not belong here and the warrior found that she was the only one capable of sending her back through the thick darkness that encompassed the turbulent paths of the present and future that twisted and intertwined in Time. The brothers looked to each other, than to the women.
“Well golly, we didn’t know that.” Dale confessed.
Chip and his brother hopped off the stone. “If it means that much to you, but I don’t think we’re getting out of here anytime soon!” Chip declared and pointed up to the doors of the garage.
“Yikes!” Dale cried. “It’s gunna get in!” He jumped behind Chip who was holding the magicite over his head.
Lightning looked back toward the doors, the beast pushing his way through the wooden doors. It was more ferocious than most Navidon she has come across. She exhaled and drew her blade once more, the Overture singing as it raked across the air. This was bad. Getting caught in a narrow place with Navidons was never a good thing. It was more headache than it was honestly worth. Her eyes drifted around the garage and toward the machine. She looked to Scarlet.
“Can you use those machines?” The woman did seem to be from a more technologically sound world given her handling of a gun, but could she use the construction arms?
With a roar the scaled beast burst through the door, its head doing well to rend the barricade into mere splinters. Clawed feet pulled the Carapace beast down the steps, its shell dragging against the walls causing sparks to leap from the contacting sides. It slithered its way to the landing and let out a sharp roar. Lightning looked to the Navidon, pulling her shield so that it sat level with her torso. Her blue eyes drifted toward the machine and over to a more open platform.
“We have to break its shell!” The Valkyrie shouted. With a good hit the shell should shatter, making the Navidon vulnerable. “You two, can you carry the stone outside?” She asked the pair. She knew it was a bit much, but it was better it was not near the claws of a rampaging Navidon.
Chip and Dale looked to each other before nodding.
“You can count on us!” Dale saluted.
“Let’s go Dale!” Chip directed before the two brothers hoisted the crystal over their heads and rushed out.
Now it was up to the women to stop the rampaging time beast, called from the great beyond.
“I’ll get you home.” Lightning assured as she stood reading to brace herself. “That’s why I am here. Hya!” She shouted out when the beast’s jaws clamped around the spam of her small shield.
Lightning anchored her feet against the ground as she slammed the Overture into the solid stone floor behind her. This allowed her leg and hip to stand braced against a solid, vertical hold. The Navidon, no matter how hard it tried, could not push the armored warrior back. Light reached out her right hand, leather covered hand to grip her left vampbrace. She tightened her muscles and called out a battle cry as she pushed against the Overture with her heel and buttocks. She raised her left arm, the one that held the shield Navidon currently had clamped down onto. With a forceful push she flipped the Navidon like a Behemoth being held by his horns, and toppled it off its legs to knock it prone.

Scarlet could see that her way was not going to work. It was frustrating the hell out of her now. These little rats were getting on her last nerve and she was not going to have it. If those pests weren't going to hand over the Materia, or whatever it was, she was going to pry it out of their cold dead fingers. She had not problems removing the issue.
However, another voice broke the silence. Scarlet turned her full attention back to Lightning before taking a step back. It seemed the armor clad woman had a plan. It had to be better than fighting to get it with the beast trying to break in behind them. So, the Head of the Weapon's Department waited for the woman to finish her plan
It seemed she was playing on the sympathetic side. She was being honest and open them and it was working. Scarlet folded her arms and put her weight onto one of her legs as she waited for them to finish talking. Finally, the two chipmunks caved. Did they really need some sappy story about how Lightning and her just needed to get home? This was absolutely pathetic. The woman simply shook her head and glanced back to the door. It probably was not going to hold the beast back much longer.
Lightning quickly gestured to a pair of arms and asked Scarlet if she could use that to injure the Navidon. It took a moment to think but Scarlet nodded. "It may take me a moment, but I can figure it out." She responded, quickly moving to the machine. The woman scanned it before finding the main section of the motor. The beast, by this time, had broken into the garage and Lightning had it handled.
The woman sent the two rodents off with the piece before moving to distract the Navidon. It seemed like she was literally doing no damage to the beast because of his shell. So, it was up to Scarlet to shatter that. Scarlet ran her fingers down the wires from the machine, eventually cutting two of them and pressing the exposed wires together. The arm moved briefly, but not in the direction she wanted. It was frustrating to the woman who specialized in machines. It seemed she needed to try harder to make it work in her favor.
Lightning was distracting the beast but it wasn't going to work much longer. The woman tried a few more wires till she figured it out. "Heh...Got you." She smirked. She pressed two of the wires together and added a third a few seconds later. The arm shot up halfway and swung quickly toward the beast. "LIGHTNING! DUCK!" She shouted over the noise from the machine. Hopefully it would be enough to knock that smug smirk AND the shell off that beast and not swat Lightning across the room.

NOTES. Time is a delicate balance. |
to the soldier, the civilian, the martyr, the victim.
THIS IS WAR
She has learned in a number of her past experiences that when you dealt with individuals you had to treat them like people. She was not PSICOM, who dealt with more, hardened, militaristic duties closer toward war-like operations. She was Guardian Corps. Her duty had been more domestic and dealt with civilians and their protection directly. Amodar was a leader she looked up to and perhaps be like some day. Though she did not have time for his fanciful leisures toward riddles and quizzes, she always respected his advice. He was always a happy man and took his job protecting citizens seriously. Lightning took that work ethic to heart and wanted to have the same drive when protecting Serah. Lightning could be sociable when it was required of her duties. But there were times she could be a bit aloof toward open affections that were not from Serah, oft times shunning it in a rather physically responsive manner such as shoving or flicking. They were endearing responses, but also a behavior stemming from her lack of experience with such emotions.
But her responses were solidified by a deep-seeded fear of losing anyone else close to her heart. Little by little she would seal more of her heart away so she did not suffer the pain wrought by her misguided judgements.
She flipped over the Navidon, sending the beast prone. She heard the woman in red call out. The makeshift plan would take time to act on.
“Great…” Lightning muttered under her breath. The beast slowly rolled back onto its claws, shaking out its heavy, carapaced covered body.
The Navidon, at this point, was pissed. And now that they were in such close quarters it was not going to simply ignore its opponent and prey. The creature snapped and lunged at Lightning, the warrior barely keeping its attacks at bay with her shield. With every push forward the Navidon would slide the grounded warrior back. Light tried to keep her body loose so that she could dodge its more forceful headbutts. After several moments of barring the beast’s fangs she heard Scarlet call out. Light glanced over her shoulder before she kicked off toward the left, strafing from the wildly swinging machine arm. The Navidon was but a beast so it would not know what to do with a massive machine arm barreling toward it.
With an explosive clatter the beast’s Carapace was struck, and shattered into a million pieces along the ground. The skink was now utterly naked to his opponent’s weapons. Lightning drew her blade from her hip before she kicked forward at the staggered beast. Her blade sliced upward, the metal singing as it bore into the reptile’s thin flesh. The beast was launched into the air, as high as the ceiling provided. Lightning remained airborne as she struck the beast a number of times, seemingly floating on wings. Her feathered skirt beautifully flowed against her form, giving her the appearance of an angel. She used her last action to slam her blade down and Smite the beast: sending it flying to the ground where its body bounced several times before dissolving into crystal dust.
When Lightning landed she placed her blade back onto her hip and looked to Scarlet. That was … dangerous. Nodding to the woman she would head back out the way they had come, the doors splintered into bits. Outside Chip and Dale waited anxiously only to see the pair safe. Lightning walked over to them and knelt down.
“Thank you.” She held out her hand and gently retrieved the solidified crystal, which seemed to float between her hands.
“We’re glad it’ll help out!” Chip squeaked.
Dale gave a nod. “Hope you get home safe!”
“If you ever come back to visit we’ll give you a ride on our new Gummiship!” Chip stated proudly, the brothers sure it would be better than Cid’s!
Lightning nodded to them and marched forward. Though she was not sure what a Gummiship was, or even if she would ever return to this world, it was nice knowing that she eliminated a threat and she would make sure it would never rise again from her world. With Chaos still in imbalance, she struggled to lock what gates remained. The woman made her way back toward the Gate and waited for Scarlet. The crystal certainly did have a warm glow to it and was condensed with some sort of magic. It was powerful. Condensed time. It was also highly dangerous given its size and the warmth it gave off. Light was quiet a moment before she looked up to Scarlet.
“I hope you find your way.” The woman with pink hair suddenly spoke. “A person does not simply fall from home by chance. Whatever it is you search for, wherever it is you want to be, this is your key.” Lightning turned to face the gate and offered the Artefact to it. It opened up to a strange vision of twisting gears of metal and endless space. “You will not be able to return this way, but you may not end up home. You can only go where you will yourself so.”
Under the glow of the Gate it was clear Lightning was no ordinary woman, if that was not obvious enough given her combat abilities. She was able to use this magicite to open a gate of folded time and twisted space. Her very presence was yon high. Where would Lightning go from here? She had people to save…. She smiled to herself.
“I think I understand why I came here…” She looked to Scarlet. “I came to save you. Be it by chance or the will of some greater being, I hope this leads us to the next level.”
------------ •Launch - 3 Cooldown: The enemy is launched into the air by a forceful, upward swing, of Lightning's blade.
•Army of One - 5 Cooldown: Lightning lunges at the enemy performing multiple, rapid hits in succession for heavy damage.
•Smite - 3 Cooldown: When an enemy is attacked with this ability it does a moderate amount of damage, but it only works if the enemy is midair.
