After hearing what Zidane just said, Leon thought his partner was just making excuses. However, he could honestly believe it. "In other words you want a memento?" Squall really had no need for mementos, since he had met Sora. That little kid had taught the lion about quite a few things. Especially, that your friends and the people you meet will always be with you in your heart.
Of course not literally. Right after Zidane had motioned to the large doors down the end of the hallway. The beast chest snapped at his monkey friend. "I hope you didn't take more than you said you would."Squall said with a slight sigh. Afterwards, he walked up the few short steps, and went to the big doors before them. With his free hand, he placed it on the left door and pushed it opened.
The large door simply glided open. Cautiously, Squall walked in and took a look around. At the end of the room was a large glass window with a balcony. Just right before the window is a stand with a glass case on top. Slowly, Leon crept up to the stand to get a closer look. From what he saw, there was a lot of rose petals inside, but no rose.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Zidane motioned his hand and laughed at Squall's mention. In a way, it was sort of like a momento, but it was a bit different too. He could not place a word to it. There was no word for it, was there? It was neither a conquest nor a theft. It was a way he left his mark on the world. It allowed him to be remembered. He had a very wild nature. He would flirt with ladies and start fights he would not finish. He would steal treasure, only to do it again the next day. But that was not the story he wanted to leave. He wanted to leave everyone with an epic tale! The ones they wrote plays on! He grew up forced to live in the shadow of these fairy tales and enact them on plays. When you worked on stage you put your heart into a story. You sometimes ended up believing in them. Their words dictated your actions, your hopes, and dreams.
He wanted to be like Colin. . .
Being a hero was not all that grand. Being a man was pretty boring. These titles were just that. They were empty facades that pulled a curtain over the truth of the adventure. He wanted to experience the adventure and tell his friends, so that when they wrote the story, he could turn around and point off into the distance. Without fear of being called a lair or looked at as an outsider he could proudly say: Only because I wanted to go. He had no reason beyond that. He wanted to see the world beside his friends. It was good enough reason for him to follow them to the ends of the world and back. It was why he followed Squall. When he got home, he could prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, he had been there for his friend.
Sure the treasure was nice and he could be a bit greedy sometimes, but other times his actions had heartfelt meaning behind them. He acted with his heart because the mind was too easily bogged down with what you could not do.
He followed Squall into the room, chuckling nervously and brushed off the accusation. "No way!" He assured, though it made him worry.
He unconsciously reached back to run his hand along the length of his tail, just to make sure every patch of hair was there. After a good grope he marched along behind Squall and let the limb freely sway behind him. The room was pretty dark but it did not trouble him much in terms of vision. He rolled his shoulders and glanced around. The place was wrecked, like some monster tore through here. The bed was in pieces and any other pricy looking piece of furniture was not just really expensive firewood. The boy reached back and scratched his posterior. He felt the hairs on his tail bristle. Was it from the chill seeping in from the balcony window or the cold touch of something else?
When they entered the room the shadow hiding within the chest reached out shadowy tendrils and formed them into arms. The arms would lift shadow and chest off the ground and carried itself into the room where it sat itself off in the corner, nestled just beside a bit of curious debris. It pulled its arms in and closed itself fully, clicking softly. The sound caught the attention of the wary thief. While Squall seemed to be staring at some table in the distance, the thief's sharp eyes landed upon the treasure chest. He rubbed his hands together and smirked. Just one more.... He marched forward with sneaky steps that did well to leave the broken woof and metal fasteners silent on the ground. He grabbed onto the edges of the chest, only for the chest to grab onto the boy's hips.
Shit.
Zidane shouted when he was raised off the ground, trying to hold onto the gems in his pouch, but that shadowy hand would not relent and swung the boy around violently until he was tossed in the direction of the other young warrior, dizzy and unable to fight back. The chest opened up, the lid appearing to have sharp teeth and its long arms with sharp claws. It tossed the gems into its 'mouth' and seemed to swish them around, the jangle of gems and coins rolling about. The lid opened up wide to show the purple glimmer of the 'eyes' which were gems Zidane had stolen and if not for his upside down and rattled state, he probably would have quipped some smart-assed comment.
The fiend roared out and stretched its darkness through the room. It cackled and looked to the boys hungrily, slurping a long, sticky tongue, with coins and pearls stuck to it, across its lid's lips. It was going to eat them!

Squall wasn't really paying attention to anything behind him. His main focus was the rose petals encased by the glass. For some odd reason it intrigued him. The moment he heard the word ,'Shit'. Leon quickly spun around to see that a Mimic was before him. Not to mention Zidane was near him in some kind of dizzy spell.
"Zidane wake up!" He shouted with a power. Much like a Lions roar. Quickly, his eyes shifted between Zidane and the Mimic. Well his Monkey friend wasn't going to wake up any time soon. Leon let out a short sigh and gripped his LionHearts handle with both hands firmly. "Lets get this over with." With his Gunblade pointed forward, he charged a brilliant energy into it.
With the Renzokuken ready, Squall rushed towards the Mimic. Once in range, Leon begun his combination of seven attacks consisting of Horizontal slashes, Diagonal Slashes, and Vertical Slashes. For the last hit, he jumped high into the air and made a powerful falling downwards strike. Slowly, he placed the mid part of his blade on his shoulder, as the Mimic collapsed to the ground.
Seconds after you could hear the clinging and clanging of all the gems, and coins hitting the floor. With the Mimic down for the count, Squall just needed to get Zidane and go. With that he made his way over to his partner. "Come on Zidane, we have one last wing to explore." He said while holding his hand out to help the Monkey boy up.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Zidane heard a loud shout blare into his ears. The boy blinked his crystal blue eyes, finding himself head over heels, most literally. When he blinked the remaining dizzy from his head he found himself well, on his head and his legs had crumpled forward to where his tail currently lashed in his face as his limbs desperately sought to find up from down. His spine tightened as his arms bent in as he tried to shift in his place. Palms came to rest flat on the ground as he groaned. With a grunt and little effort, he would push himself up off the ground, legs in the air.
After a quick and fluid maneuver he would manage to flip back on his feet, tail coiling around his feet, just ceasing their movement to prevent from being stepped on. He straightened himself up and looked back over his shoulders.
"No need ta shout..." He reached up to rub the side of his ringing head and shook out the blood pooling in his skull.
He spun cleanly on his heel and watched as Squall launched forward and took out the beast in a barrage of skill, the likes of which he has not seen in a while. When the mimic was defeated its innards spilled all across the room. The thief arched a brow, lips curling into a mischievous smirk. He marched forward, his tail scooping up a blue gem he was rather fond of. It tossed the gem up and Zidane snatched it from the air skillfully. He held his fist tight a moment before slowly opening his hand. The gem was nestled between his thumb and forefinger.
"A Lapis lazuli helps focus the mind, not really valuable, gil wise, but you can always use it to meditate....if you're into that sorta thing. I hear chicks dig it too." He laughed out and moved to scoop up a bit of the gil puked from the mimic's insides.
The thief shrugged and looked to the handful of gil he held cupped in his gloves. "You try not to think about the fact these were in their stomachs." He offered.
Squall really went all out for that little mimic. Well little it probably could have bitten Zidane's head off in one bite since he was a bit shorter and easily grabbed by the fiend. He looked to Squall and laughed out. The guy was way too serious. Zidane shoved the gil in his pouch and the lapis lazuli, moving to follow Squall. That was pretty fun, even if he was tossed around like a doll. No worse for the wear though. Good thing. Squall did not look like the type to dabble in White Magic...
"Don't be too serious, you'll miss out on the beauty of the simple things!" It was hard to tell if the young male was teasing or being wholly serious considering the fact at hand.
Mimics were frighteningly dangerous monsters. They pretended to be chests and sometimes vases, and some have even been known to mimic healing Crystals, all in order to get a quick and easy meal. Few have ever seen the true form of a mimic, but some say it looked like a giant spider, twisted in the colors that made up their trap of choice. Whatever it really looked like, he was glad he was not a meal. It made Zidane wonder though. Did someone die here? Mimics were usually only around places where people went missing often. Mines, ruins. He kept the uneasy thoughts to himself, keeping that bright, unfading smile.

It had to have taken a matter of only a few seconds before, Zidane had charged towards all of the gems and coins. What was wrong with this guy? Was treasure really on his mind? This treasure could be someone elses. However, there was no proof of this. The owner and everyone who belonged to this castle wasn't here.
"Beauty of simple things?" He repeated softly. "I don't need the beauty of treasure." Leon paused for a moment. "There is something far more important to me than treasure. And I must keep searching for this person." He said in a somewhat serious manner. Of course Leon was referring to his dear Rinoa.
The Lion could feel that he was so close to finding his prize. Surly once he finds her, he could find all of his friends too. All he had to do was search is one more wing. Once that final part of the castle has been searched, Squall can leave. Of course that is if he doesn't find Rinoa. Not to mention, he is getting tired of these disturbances.
Those new creatures, and the Heartless were such a waste of his time. Not to mention the Monkey boy, who he is siding with is obsessed with treasures. "Lets go Zidane. Were almost done." Leon motioned to follow. Just like that, he headed out of the room, and followed the pathway to the two large suits of armor.
All they had to do was make it to the winding stairs and head the other way. Leon knew he is prepared for most certainly anything to be thrown his way. He doesn't exactly want to admit it, but when he finishes this little adventure. He might actually miss Zidane. The Monkey boy does have a rather vibrant personality. It almost reminds him of Zell, but without the treasure addiction.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Laughed out at Squall's first comment. is hands came to settle on his hips at thought. When Squall mentioned that he was looking for someone Zidane just nodded. He was not one to pry, but it he was scouring such a place, they had to be important. For the rogue the treasure was more a distraction. It seemed Squall could not see it. Something was going on here and through the complex mechanisms of his emotions it was perhaps difficult to see. It was not his place to say that Squall's goals were narrow minded, but he did not want his friend getting in trouble because he was not careful. Zidane had no problem watching his back, but in the other instance he had no problem backing him up.
The young man casually followed the warrior, his arms folded behind his head in a relaxed manner. He could not shake the feeling there were eye on em, just lurking in the darkness. They did not seem malicious, but it was almost otherworldly. With a careful study of his environment he could spot traps and potential danger. It allowed him to respond more readily to it. Had he not held onto the Mimic when he did, he probably would have been way more worse off after that toss up. He smiled brightly and allowed his arms to drop to his side as they made their way back to where it began. As they crossed the foyer and marched along the spiraling steps the thief glanced toward the main doors. There were a bunch of Gargoyles stationed at the entrance. He was sure stepping down there was a trap waiting to happen. The rooms in that area were all dark, except for one. Its door was partially ajar and there looked to be either a hearth or candle's light dancing along the shorter length of shadows.
Even with the mass of coins now resting in his pouch the thief hardly made a sound beyond the gentle tapping of his boots against the solid, marble steps. The way his belts hung his holster and pouch provided a simple balancing system that forced the belts to move in a fluid motion with his hips and kept his gear from rattling around. He was unusually quiet. Something was on his mind and he was not sharing it. It worried him. He sighed out and rolled his shoulders in irritation. This was pretty annoying.
"Hey Squall," he called out in a way you could hear the grin on his lips. "Good luck, you know? Finding your treasure." That seemed pretty odd and cryptic.
Zidane was worried though. Something was creeping and it left them vulnerable, but he also felt their time together was growing short. Even if he could not support Squall up close, he could always in spirit right? They would meet again, because everyone was connected through their memories, he felt.

As they made it back to the large doors of the Ballroom, Squall listened to what Zidane had said. "My treasure? Thanks." He said with a nod. All they had to do was go up to the other wing and they were done. Squalls eyes slowly glanced over to the main doors to get in and out. He couldn't help to notice Gargoyles guarding the doors. "Seems we'll have some fun for later."
With that Leon made his way over the other set of stairs and walked up them. As he made it up the stairs, the Lion walked through the doorway which had led to a rather small hallway. At the end of this hallway was only one door at the end of it. Squall was almost done exploring this castle. You could say he was hoping with all of his might that Rinoa would be in this room.
However, he knew she was probably not going to be here. Cautiously, he approached the door and noticed that it was slightly open. So easily, he managed to bump it open. In this room was only a bed, dresser, and just bedroom equipment. For several minutes, Leon had stood there slightly disappointed. "Are you ready, Zidane?" Of course Squall meaning the Gargoyles they had seen earlier. Which they have to fight to leave this castle.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Zidane said nothing else as they traversed the castle. He was staring to feel his activity catch up to him. Though the bruises from his earlier fall off the roof long since became numb, but after being tossed by the mimic, he felt as if his bruises were split open. The throbbing heat on his arms were a badge of courage and proof he was still alive. He reached back to rub at his shoulder.
The castle was a haunting memory of what could become of all the hard work of others. Beautifully carved arches and finely smoothed steps showed the great effort put into. Holding the castle, but as the explored be could clearly see how the ate away at what was likely once a vibrant life of decadence. It was a sobering sight. Cobwebs twisted along corridors and the debris left behind in the sleeping quarter proved no life remained, even if Squall claimed something lived here. A castle was no different from a shack or a hut of mud. Eventually it collapsed... Shrugging off the the pain the he prepared himself for what may come. Squall moved to open the doors and Zidane turned his head up as he came up to stand at the male's side. There did not seem to be anything in this room. Just what was Squall expecting? Well regardless of whether it was something or someone, it was not here.
"No treasure in here... But at least it's not as much of a dump as the rest of the place." He spoke brashly, so Squall would not dwell too long on the disappointment. "You bet, let's get moving!" He responded when Squall asked of his preparedness.
The thief patted his holster to visually indicate his readiness. Zidane did earnestly hope Squall found his treasure. As the thief let the male take the lead he would reach into his satchel and remove the lapis lazuli. Twisting the uncut gemstone against his thumb and forefinger, he would manage to catch some of the moonlight that bled into the room.
'How far do I have to go until I shine?' He thought to himself.
He slipped the stone back into his pouch and followed after the male. Just one more obstacle, right? They have the skill and experience with these stone fiends to pull it off! Zidane felt confident of this fact.

Squall let out a slight laugh in response to Zidanes comment. "Certain parts of this castle did look quite nice. The Ballroom was great." Leon had to admit that this castle looked rather crummy. However, the Ballroom was well cleaned and lit. Whoever took care of this castle sure was doing a horrible job.
After his little disappointment, Leon walked back to the main area with Zidane. So they were right by the Ballroom doors. All they had to do was go down the stairs and fight their final fight. With his LionHeart still in hand, and Zidane by his side. Leon knew that this would be easy.
From what he noticed there was only two Gargoyles. However, if he remembered correctly, Sora had mentioned something about Nobodies. Could it be that Nobodies might show up if these Heartless are defeated? Well the wouldn't find out until they defeated these creatures, right?
So their goal is to get to the courtyard and reach the exit gates. Hopefully, it will not take to long to end this. "Lets go." Squall said as he began to walk down the stairs and make his way over to the Gargoyles. Once he got close enough, Squall charged towards the Heartless on the left and made a quick Horizontal Slash aimed for its chest.
The creature roared in pain and attempted to make a swift attack in return. However, Squall swung his blade up in a defensive manner to block the incoming attack. This created a loud almost screeching sound as the blades collided against each other.
Squall took a quick hop backwards and casted, Brilliant Energy on his Gunblade. It had only taken a split second before a massive white energy completely encased his blade. The energy increased the rage of the weapon three fold, and increased its power by quite a bit.
Easily, he managed to two hand his now massive sword. Leon made one might swing towards the creature. Due to the sheer power of the swing and power increase, Squall simply cleaved the Heartless in half. It was almost like cutting butter with a steak knife.
One was down, now Zidane had to finish up with his dance partner. However, Squall had a feeling that there would be more after this. The Lion didn't like having this feeling. However, the Heartless are relentless and keep attacking like they have an infinite amount of energy.

Jovial Prince of Thieves He followed Squall, quite willingly, toward the spot he knew would be a tough fight. He steps had a skip to his step, but it was just the excitement bubbling under the surface. It was pretty fun exploring this place, but it would be great to get the hell out. He wanted a drink and a nice bathe after all of this was said and done. When Squall turned back and made his way toward the split, spiral steps, Zidane was not far behind. It was hard not to hear him bouncing behind the other warrior. It was hard to believe he could even be a thief, as loud as he was. If anything he was like a vulture, opportunist, but a vulture was still clever enough to wait until everyone led him to the party and knew when it was time to leave. Making their way down the steps, as predicted, the statues had come to life and attacked them. Zidane drew his blades from his holster and grinned roguishly as he slid his legs apart and took his stance. Squall wasted no time in taking out his opponent in a flash of some heavy sword-show off. He really did not understand the fondness people had with longswords. They were heavy, clumsy and difficult to wield. He like the intimacy one held when holding onto the short blades. They were easy to maneuver and did not cause him to lose balance when running across precariously narrow ledge or get them caught in a window trying to crawl out of hairy situations. Sure they were not strong enough to slice through a Gargoyle, but all he needed was to use his head! Zidane smirked as his dace partner decided to take the lead and swing his mighty blade down to cut the thief twain. Zidane ducked down and laughed out. " Where are you aiming?!" He would mock the fiend before it slashed across to cut at his legs, only for the thief to jump up and kick off the edge of its sword with his thick boots. Using that momentum Zidane would jump into the air and kick into the Gargoyle's face. He felt the rattle of stone skull creep through his leg, but he would not let that deter him. He allowed his knees to lock as he used the Gargoyle's skull to springboard off. The Heartless swung out his blade at the acrobatic thief. Now that he was in the air Zidane smirked and gripped his daggers tightly. He sent another kick into the Gargoyle in order to knock its chin up. His blades crossed and he dropped forward into the Gargoyle. " Tear it up!" He shouted out as he charged into the stone Heartless and spun rapidly, tearing into its stony hide with a full powered Storm Impulse. After tearing clean through the Heartless Zidane fell into a roll and would land in a crouched position. His tail was held out and coiled nearly completely around his body as he held out his lighter blades. Peering over his shoulder and gave a grin. He motioned his hand and holstered his daggers as he slowly rose to his full height. He gave Squall a goofy grin and saluted in an exaggerating motion and marched toward the big doors. That actually was not so bad. He was expecting some sort of ambush. It was exhilarating. The boy pressed his hands to the door and looked back at Squall. " I'll be glad to get outside, even though it'll be cold and probably snowing by now!" He professed. For a smaller fellow Zidane was pretty physically strong and could easily push open the doors. As they creaked open the boy's tail paused. That even, pendulum like wave his tail followed an invisible beat seems to have found halt as he drifted into a train of thought that was a bit unbecoming toward his wild nature and seemingly reckless nature. He looked toward the door and sunk his head. " Hey, Squall?" He called to the man's attention. " Sorry if I caused some noise, but if you ever get into some real trouble, don't give up hope? I mean this treasure is nice, but it's not really worth anything. Your real treasure is somewhere out there, so is mine. So promise to always follow every possibility." He laughed out, knowing that he was only trying to settle his own nerves as much as he was trying to let his new friend, quietly know, he would be there to support him. When the thief pushed the doors open and stepped out into the chilly air, he was surprised to see it was still a clear night. With all the wind he could hear pushing the old foundations of the castle, he was sure it would start to storm with a vengeance. The courtyard was huge! Zidane ran out to the steps to get a better look, jaws gaping in surprise. He was not quite expecting it to be really -- hauntingly beautiful? Something about the way the leafeess trees twisted branches intertwined with one another and reached over the fences pleadingly. In the distance he could see the gates. Without a second rush he ran down the steps. His heart began to race. Seeing the Lapis Lazuli had triggered memories he had long pushed away. It was a long and heavy trip. She had not said a word for days and, for some strange reason, it was tearing him apart inside. Was it his fault it had happened? Had he been too absorbed to realize she was hurting inside? He should have not let her do so much on her own, but what good would have come of coddling her? She could be downright assertive when she wanted to do something. It was hard not being able to hear her laughs, though she only ever offered polite smiles. She could not chastise him when he acted a fool, nor could he hear her crying, which he was sure she did when she thought no one was looking. He wanted to run back home and apologize. Even though he was without fault, he was with great guilt leaving her alone. The thief came to a halt. Something was standing in front of the gate. The rogue came to a stop in the center of the circular stone carving in the courtyard. Something was walking toward him. Clank, clatter, clank.... From the Darkness stepped a new looking fellow. In its hands were two blades, or no -- the blades were its hands. All around, up to six Gargoyles woke from their sleep and before the thief marched a Blitz Spear, an Emblem Heartless that was a ferocious fighter far above the Gargoyle Swords. Ah, well.... " Seems I walked into the wrong neighborhood." Thief. Light. Genome. WORDS: 1136 NOTES: It's on Made by Queen Kassy of Cheyenne; Edited by OuRex Draco

It hadn't taken Zidane that long to finish off his Heartless. Leon thought it was all over. However, he had a feeling that there was more to come in the upcoming minutes. Moments after Zidane had pushed open the castle doors, he gave Squall a quick supportive speech. "Thanks for the thought." Squall said with a slight laugh. It hadn't taken to long before more Heartless had shown up.
"This is the final push. Lets end this here, Zidane!" With Brilliant Energy still active, he could deal some fast damage. The Gargoyles would be easy to beat. However, the twin bladed Heartless might take a little bit of time to beat. With this in mind, Squall charged to the Gargoyles to his right. Leon had no need to get in close with the extended range of his weapon.
With a single mighty downwards strike, Leon managed to cut the darned Heartless in half. Before he could get close to the other Heartless, it had bull rushed right into him. So Leon was rammed right into the ground. Squalls whole front side was sore now. What did the Heartless weight? One thousand pounds?
Quickly, Squall recovered and picked up his blade in the process. Once again the Heartless attempted to bull rush him. Yet, this time Leon swiftly moved himself to the left of the Heartless. This only led him to piercing his blade right through the Gargoyle, causing it to turn into a cloud of darkness.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Zidane chuckled nervously at the sight of the enemies coming to life. "I think they want us to stay for the welcoming committee..." Well this was a load of crap!
They were, most literally, at the exit. How could so many enemies swarm the only way out?! Could the bad guys just not welcome them at the door? Oh, well now that Zidane thought about it, this was technically the front. The thief smirked and lowered his form slightly as his muscles tensed up. He held up his hands and laughed out. Maybe he should have come this way first, but what good was that if he was to meet up with such terrible odds? That would have been a miserable ending to face, not that he would of. He knew when he was beat. But this time he was ready. Finding the Lapis lazuli gave him a bit of hope in finding his way home again. He has been gone far too long. He also had to find his way back to his friends. He could not, would not abandon them in their greatest time of need!
"I think they're a lil mad we didn't greet 'em at the front door Squall!" Though it was no time for jokes, that would not stop the thief!
Squall was already driven to battle, used to the flow of slipping in and out of the exercises with his enemies. With two already down Zidane found himself having to think quick as two Gargoyles came at him from his left and right side, and the Blitz Spear marched toward him in its full, clanking armor. The Heartless showed off by swinging their weapons in the air, the Blitz looked to be almost laughing as it raked its blade hands together to create a sea of sparks and unpleasant noise. Zidane slowly stepped back, his tail standing up and bristled to its maximum. The end of his tail twitched as his knuckles popped when he wriggled his fingers. This would be a fight. His heart was already pumping.
He had been filled with the hopeful memories that left him gloomy. When he had originally arrived it was to cause some major havoc, relieve his stress and earn back a bit of his dignity after being thrown from the back of his companion. Choco had run off to hide somewhere, and though Zidane did not mind it, he could not leave his feathered friend off in the wilderness of an unknown world while he moped and whined. The thief slipped his daggers from his holster and crossed them over his hands skillfully. He bent his back to arch a bit as he felt his adrenaline start to pump.
"You want me ugly? Come on!" Zidane taunted the Blitz Blade.
The armored Heartless raised his blade arm and seemed to rattle with anger as it charged Zidane along with the Gargoyles. Zidane smirked and dashed toward the Gargoyle to his right. His blades lashed in an upward arc to strike the beast with Booster 8, connecting with the stony hide. A spark erupted from the force and speed behind the attack. It had enough momentum to send the Gargoyle up, but the thief's attack did not stop there, for the swell of action only carried further into the air. One slash across his chest, another strike across his front and the last strike would land against its chest as his blades came to cross one another in a full strike that left the thief and Gargoyle in the air.
The defending Gargoyle soon became a puff of dark smoke as it was obliterated by the attack, but the thief was nowhere near done. As the ones on the ground seemed to hope to make a quick meal of the falling rogue and jumped to reach its prey, Zidane smirked. Twisting his body he would slide into Tempest and slam both blades down into the Gargoyle. The first blade hit, than the second, the final hit would come when the thief would reach out and grab the blades on the rebound and slam him down to where the stony form all but bounced along the ground and became a crumbled heap of smoke of his former self. When the thief landed he was met with a slash to the side from the Blitz Blade and sent flying back into another waiting Gargoyle who slammed his back with his ax.
The thief cried out as he bounced, rolled and would manage to land on his feet. Though that was a bit of damage, he was no worse for the wear. He smirked at the Blitz Blade and the new Gargoyle stalking behind him. His heart continued to pump up. He brushed the thin trail of blood from his chin with the cuff of his glove and smirked. His blue eyes seemed to glow in the dark night as his high began to climb.
"Hey Squall... I bet I can take out sir Clunks-a-lot over there before you can." Why not make a fun bet out of it?!
The thief grinned and popped his wrists as he held his daggers in place. This was going to be way more fun than intended, he already felt it at the base of his tail, twitch twitch. A wide grin drew itself upon his face as his body settled into a ready stance. He had a Gargoyle to his back, and another was hopping in toward Squall. It was only the two remaining and Blitz Blade.

It had only taken maybe several moments for most of the Gargoyles to surround Zidane. Not to any surprise, Squall watched how the Monkey boy had easily taken them all out. With in a blink of an eye only two of the Gargoyles were left, and the Twin blade Heartless. Before he could really get to attacking, Zidane had made a bet to see who can kill the armored heartless first.
To be completely honest, Squall knew he couldn't kill the thing first. Brilliant Energy was going to last for quite some time. As long as the ability lasts his attack speed is rather low. So essentially for activating the move he gains massive range and power, but gives up attack speed. So in certain situations it could get highly annoying for the Lion.
So why not make an excuse? "This isn't a time for games, Zidane!" He said firmly. With that his eyes focused to the Gargoyle that was getting closer to him. Leon soon charged in and leaped up only to swing his blade downwards. Again, with one strike he split the Heartless into two pieces. Without a second thought, Squall spun to face the Blitz Spear.
This time, Leon carefully moved towards the Heartless. The moment, Squall was able he let down an almighty swing of his blade down upon the Heartless. Now he didn't split the thing into surprisingly. However, he did knock the Heartless straight into the ground and made a massive dent in its helmet.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
The thief grinned at Squall's remark. "Aww, you're no fun!" He teased in earnest.
Squall seemed ready to get out of this place and move on with his journey, but Zidane wondered where his would take him next. He had been to many places, but he was tired of being pushed around by these portals. It was time to strengthen his heart and fight a battle he was sure he could win. There was no way he could be kept from his goal. After all he was part of Tantalus now and forever, and Tantalus always got what they wanted. He would set his mind and body wholly on any task he was given, because his intentions were always earnest, even if sometimes half-assed. Taking life too seriously put a heavy burden that could not be overcome with ease.
Zidane shifted his weight when the Gargoyle jumped forward. The heavy ax came down upon the thief and he felt his body tense up as he kicked, back, off the ground and laughed. He spun with ease and slammed his foot onto the stone Heartless' face before landing behind him. The thief proceeded to pull back his arms before dashing forward with such speed, the enemy would be unable to block his incoming attack. Rumble Rush had a way of surprising enemies. It was forceful enough to knockback an opponent, but in the case of the Gargoyle he would be knocked forward. The thief grinned because as soon as the stone fiend was knocked forward, the Gargoyle would not be halted so easily and swung his blade out in a circular motion to strike at the thief with equally blinding speed.
Zidane was hit, but would manage to keep his ground as he was slid back. His vest was torn, the wound on his side exposed, but luckily nothing too frightening. "How 'bout I show you a trick Squall?" The boastful jeer sounded a bit raspy, the pain starting to ring in his senses, numbing his thoughts.
An explosion if energy erupted from the rogue and his body took on a distinct hue. The pain, the adrenaline and the will of his heart to fight drove him forward. A deep, pink, almost magenta, cloak of fur began to grow over hi body, like a man transforming into a fiend. Soon that sand colored tail would take on its fiery hue and flick about the air violently. His golden locks took on a similar color and splayed out in wild abandon. His smaller wounds began to close up and a wild glint sparkled in his eye.
He charged the Gargoyle and the two creatures would meet in a clash of sparks and thunder as their blades met. They would jump back and enter a deadly dance of blades as they jumped toward each other and would meet blade strike to blade strike as the maniacs sought to end the other with one, fell blow. The speed of the fight was blinding but Zidane would end it. He held out his crossed blades to the Gargoyle and began to draw strange marks in the air before they released a mass of Free Energy, sending multiple spheres of energy into the stone fiend to in a eruption of light. Zidane smirked and looked toward Squall.
"Are you gunna take the bet or what?" It would be fun.
The Blitz Spear was incensed at the strike to his helmet and seemed to screech a metal rattling sound at Squall. It was not going to let two tasty hearts get away! It crossed its blades and released its Shockwave attack which would not only blow back any opponents, but rain down a surge of lightning that the two would find difficult to avoid. After the Shockwave it would cross its blades and begin to store energy. If touched while in this state, the two may find the result a rather shocking one, as any physical contact will result in their being electrocuted.

Squall had to admit that he was quite surprised that his friend had turned into a full fledge monkey. A pink one at that. However, it did seem that Zidane was stronger now. Who was he? Of course, Leon wasn't to surprised, because of all the history he had with Edna, and Ultimecia. At the same time it was reassuring in knowing that Zidane was quite powerful.
Sure he did not have any kind of ability to transform himself besides his weapon. However, he had his special abilities that allowed him to excel. Seconds later, Squall had been knocked back by the Heartless ability, followed up by some surges of lightning. Unfortunately, he was hit by one of the surges.
The first one had struck down upon his back, making a noticeable hole in his jacket. Not to mention the wound. As the others tried to strike down upon him, Squall dodged and weaved the best as he could. However, it was rather difficult with his back now hurting. Lightning magic had to be the most annoying to deal with.
Moments later, Leon noticed the Heartless charging some sort of energy. "Zidane, do think this the time for a bet?" It was a late response, but at least he responded. While he had the chance, he began to cast Cure. Quickly, he placed his blade on top of his shoulder and let it rest there, holding it up with his right hand. With his left hand slowly glowing with a brilliant white light.
Seconds later, Leon snapped his fingers and healed part of his wounds. This gave him more of a refreshing feeling. However, not all of his wounds were healed. With that he grabbed ahold of his swords handle with both hands, and got back into his fighting stance.
