Standing by the open window, the keyblade master was practically beaming, voice colored with a bit of pride, and a whole lot of joy as she held up her two fingers in a "v". ”Two Royal Berry ice creams, please.”
In her true, ideal world, the woman would be ordering three cones and returning to both of her friends to share the treat. But right now, this was enough. She could see Ventus's frustrations, and his negative feelings, and she knew she had to do what she could to cheer him up again, just to keep his light strong. She poured all she had into it. It was just as much for herself as it was for him.
It never occurred to her that Ventus may have viewed coming here as "childish" or her offer of ice cream as an insult to his maturity. It just felt natural for her to assume he would like it. Though of course, if he did try to act defensive or deny it, she may just start accusing him of being childish, ironically enough.
So she got the cones, one in each hand, as she headed back to where Ventus awaited her. It was sweet and tart, the fruity flavor delighting her even more than usual. The colors of the town seemed brighter, the people more friendly, and the sun warmer. The place was so much more cheery and magical today, for which she was glad.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] We carry forward into the night The strength of innocence like children's laughter
The sweet, innocent taste of ice cream. It was a welcome comfort to have, but not nearly close to the reason Sora was here today in Disney Town. Just having come back from the Mysterious Tower, which he had finally restored fully from the darkness it had been stagnated in for far too long, he decided the enemy's next move might be Disney Castle itself while the tower had mearly been a distraction. But, he was thankful to find that the world had not sunken into darkness upon his arrival. There was no sight of His Majesty, Donald nor Goofy, but in general the populace seemed to be at peace and in good spirits under the protection of the royal guards present. It was even such a tranquil and vibrant day that they were selling ice cream, and Sora just had to indulge himself in those spoils after a victory for Yen Sid to get his tower back.
He looked at the various ice cream flavors on sale; most of them were sundays or dishes with bowls, which he'd have to eat in or sit down to enjoy. He just wanted a simple cone ice cream, so he could consume it and be on his way to the next world to make sure his friends were alright, while still searching for the most important people of all that needed him. Not only friends who's worlds were in darkness, but people in suffering pain and sadness. To them, Sora offered not only reprieve, but hope as well that happiness might be restored as well. Such was the heavy burden of being a keybearer, so with no Heartless attacking this world and himself wound up with stress, an ice cream to blow some of the hard day's steam off wouldn't hurt.
He looked among the list of flavors, deciding on the one he would like. Hunny Bunny? Had that last time he was here, he wanted to try something new. Rockin' Crunch? Had it before the last time here was here, and at least Hunny Bunny was sweet, but that one was a bit too bittersweet for his liking. Most of the ice creams were advertised as tofu and meant to be healthy, but ice cream was meant to be a good tasting desert, so he skipped over most of those. There was one ice cream that had been sold out previously that he hadn't seen or tried before. "One Royal Berry, please." he asked the vendor politely, and soon enough he had a cone of the delicious flavor in his hand. And boy, it was delicious! Just as good as sea salt ice cream, but different with milk cream and sweet red berries. No wonder it was sold out.
Sora had taken one more bite out of his ice cream when he almost nearly spat it back out; not because it tasted bad, but he saw a face he thought he hadn't seen for a long time. "Aqua! Hey, it's good to see you again!" he smiled, moving the cone away from his face as he did so as not to be rude he was eating it while greeting her. Being a Keyblade Master, he expected her to be somewhere else making hard decisions with other friends of theirs, or even on the midst of battle defeating the enemy, but he never expected to see her here eating ice cream. Maybe the same could be said about him, from her point of view, and he laughed before voicing his amusement. "Who would have thought we'd all gather here at the crossroads of our journey, just to have ice cream?" he humored rhetorically, looking at his own ice cream in thought for a moment, before looking back at the young woman in front of him. "How are you enjoying your freedom back in the worlds, Aqua? Everything must be going great if you're taking a break for some frozen treats, right?"

The keyblade master stopped, for a second honestly wondering if her ears were playing tricks on her. Darting her eyes around for the source of the call, she turned, and her eyes went wide when she confirmed for herself just who was there. ”Sora!”
It was like when she had seen Ventus again. Surreal, and unreal, yet more real because of it. It was a dream, really, but unlike last time, the thought did not fill her with caution, or wariness. Instead, her heart, which had already been light, practically leaped for joy. The sweet boy that she owed so much to, that had gifted her freedom and rekindled her hope, had been another person always on her mind. She could not help but worry over him. And to see him here in such good spirits, enjoying ice cream of all things...
Well.
Aqua was practically beaming. Flushed with color, eyes bright, she was the picture of exuberance. Holding her two cones out to the sides, she sighed once, a half laugh at his comment, and shook her head. ”Sora, I... can't even begin to tell you. Ven he's- he's woken up. And the Master is back and everything is fine, and-”
Aqua was never one to get excited. She was always serious, and solemn. And as much as it pained her to admit: saddened. But there was a string of good luck in such a short amount of time it almost made her dizzy. She felt like she was on top of the world. And just seeing another friend here sharing in his leisure time was more than she could ask for.
”-I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to see you here.”

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] An army standing for what is right We'll fall like angels if we lose what matters
When she called his name, it almost sounded like she was relieved to see him, almost as if he were one of his lost friends. He smiled, and not to overwhelm the Keyblade Master with any more emotion than she already had, he just simply smiled and nodded. "Yeah, it's me." He snuck a quick bite of his ice cream after he had finished talking, almost contageous to the taste of the tandelizing ice cream, but quickly cleared his mouth so he could talk again. He also rubbed his face over his mouth and chin, just to make sure there was no ice cream lingering there and making him look foolish, even though there was a dapple of it on his cheek. Completely oblivious and having missed it, he felt content, and beamed back at Aqua.
There was a moment where no words were exchanged; but no words needed to be said. It was a moment mixed with contentment, joy, relief, as well as recognition and mutual understanding. It reminded him of when he had found her in the Realm of Darkness all that time ago, and his heart recognized the memory of her finding him as a child on his island. All those years ago... "I might have gotten older... but not you, Aqua, you still look as young as the day we met." he voiced the thought out loud, complementing her, but also chiding her with the idea of his humble self having changed with age. As much as the Realm of Darkness may have held still the aging process, he was sure Aqua was glad to feel the light of these worlds again.
She looked a lot more relaxed and radiant than she had when he had plucked her from the darkness and returned her to the Realm of Light. Radiant in a way that her eyes were smiling of course, not because of the light, because of what little there was in the Dark Meridian. A lot more glowing and healthier, probably because of the ice cream, but maybe something else Sora had yet to see. When she opened her arms, Sora almost anticipated she was going to give him a hug, but that would be quite awkward with the two ice creams she was holding. "That's great! Ven... I'd really like to meet the real Ven I've heard so much from you about... but it's like when I hear his name, I feel like he's an old friend of mine. Even though we've never met. But, where has your master been hiding all this time?" he spoke softly and warmly at first about Ven, even though he hadn't ever met him... he thought at least, anyway. And then questionable about Aqua's master... she only mentioned to him in the Dark Meridan he was the master that had sent her after her friends in the first place.
Maybe she seemed a lot brighter because she was positively smiling as well, but how did Sora feel? Like he had felt before, all those emotions balled up into one, but the main emotions were just excitment and complete contentment at the sight of another kind and caring heart. "I'm happy to see you too, Aqua." he reiterated to her genuinely, holding out a hand for her. "Want me to hold on of your ice creams for you? Waiting for a friend?" he offered kindly, looking for a place perhaps they could sit down and catch up while she did. Maybe there was a bench or a ice cream cafe table they could use for a moment, a table with an ice-cream holder preferably, so Aqua's arms wouldn't get tired while she stood there until the owner of the second ice cream arrived.
It was really great to see she was alive, safe and happy again, he truly was glad.

The woman half laughed, half-sighed at his comment on her age. It was nice of him to try complimenting her. There were times where she felt old, as much as it pained her to admit. Though the physical process had been frozen, her mind had still been awake all that time. Thankfully, time moved differently in the realms, so she had not actually suffered for a decade, though there was still quite a while stored in her memory. Unlike Sora, who had grown so much, but at times still acted like a kid. Like being a messy eater. Her smile turned a little fondly amused at his happy grin, and tried to point at her own cheek awkwardly "Ah, Sora, your..."
She didn't really finish, since he had tried to wipe it away, though it did not really do much good, and she struggled to keep down her chuckles. Normally she would not find this so amusing, but the day had made her giddy and open. Even at Sora's mention of the master's "location" all this time, she was not deterred.
"I'm sure Ventus would like to meet you too." They were so much alike, and not just in looks. The master was sure they would get along just fine. Though she could not really say why he would feel a connection to him. "Maybe... maybe you feel like you know him since I talked about him so much." That was the only real explanation she could think of that made sense. Indicating her head in the direction of the tables in front of the icecream shop, "But let's have you meet for real. I think you'll get along just great. He said he'd return soon, so it shouldn't be long."
At least she hoped they did. She was fond of Sora, and he was... well, almost the same age as Ven. Both were friendly and brought light to the people close to them. Brought light to her. The keyblade master couldn't imagine them not getting along.
"Oh, no, thank you, Sora, but it's alright. I should have probably taken care of it in the first place." She said lightly, referring to her cones.
She went back to the window, asking for one of those special boxes designed to hold multiple cones at once. Requesting a few napkins as well, she placed them both into the cardboard. Now holding the box, Aqua led them both to a table in front of the shop, one that actually had four chairs as she took a seat, indicating he take one across from her. When he neared her, she daintily held out a napkin for him, pointing to her own face to mirror the location. "You still have a little right here," she informed almost sheepishly.
Settling back again, she decided to hold off on picking up her cone just yet, no matter how tempting the sweet flavor was to her. Turning her attention back on Sora, she smiled gently. "The master hasn't been really hiding all this time. His heart has been lost for a long time too. But it's returned now. He was in the training grounds, the last I saw him. What about you, Sora? Have you been going to different worlds all this time too?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] I will not Walk away
(OOC: Sorry, this is all the muse I got, so apologies if it's short.)
"Huh?" Sora wondered, wondering why Aqua was pointingg at her cheek.
Honestly, she kinda looked silly doing that.
"Yeah... you're right. That's gotta be it."" he replied to Aqua's explanation, but his own tone didn't make him sound so sure. It wasn't completely like that... he felt like he knew him... no, more like he felt him. Did that make any sense at all? Like he was some far-off forgotten memory, but as hard as Sora tried to recollect it, it just remained out of reach of comprehension. But maybe meeting him would ring a clear bell, as Aqua answered his question. "Oh, so it's Ven you're meeting here with ice cream? That's great! Can't wait to meet him!" he smiled, enthused.
He followed her to the table, and as she passed a napkin to him, she refered to what she was mentioning before about pointing to her cheek. "Oh!" he exclaimed softly, then laughed, dabbing his cheek with the napkin... on the cheek opposite of where it actually was. "Did I get it?" he asked, wondering, before taking a seat gestured across from Aqua anyway. He started to nibble again on his ice cream, savoring it only because it was melting, but he wanted to have some left when Ven decided to show up. However, this only managed to get more of that ddelicious berry dairy goodness on his cheek and chin.
This seemed to be a reoccuring theme, with people loosing hearts. First Kairi, then himself in order to free Kairi's heart, then Aqua telling him Ven lost his heart. But Aqua's master had also lost his heart, and it sounded like grim circumstances considering what Kairi and Sora had been though. "So your master lost his heart too? I'm glad they found their way back." he said a little seriously, even though there was a slight smile still tuggling on his lips. It would be interesting to finally meet this Master, maybe like Yen Sid, he could teach Sora a lot more he could use with the Keyblade.
At her provocation, Sora nodded, thinking about how to answer her query. "Oh yeah, of course! Making friends, stomping on a few Heartless and bad guys, saving the worlds. I just came back from Master Yen Sid's tower, it had sunken into the darkness, but I brought it back to the Light. With a little help from my friends. So I came here to check on the King and friends, and thought I'd celebrate Yen Sid getting his tower back with some ice cream." He laughed again, at the thought, and took another bite of his ice cream. It had been a while, and Ven still hadn't shown up. He was wondering if he would ever get to meet him, so this mysterious Ven could make a lasting impression on him and form a strong memory in his mind once and for all. "So, how about you, you've been on a journey through the worlds all this time with Ven, too?" he asked Aqua, glad she was here so Ven would eventually find them, and was still pleased to make conversation to catch up with her to pass the time.

Aqua sighed. It was not a heavy sigh, or even an exasperated sigh, but one that sprung from the depths of her amusement. Honestly, that boy seemed so helpless on his own right now. How could he not clean up after himself at the very least? Such a kid. Yet Aqua found she did not mind. Perhaps because he had been a "child" in her mind for so long. She had half a mind to reach out and wipe it off herself, but held herself back. It seemed a pointless endeavor anyway, given his eating habits.
The keyblade master nodded once in thanks for Sora's concern, though her smile flickered a moment at the blunt reminder of her master's fate. To say his heart was "lost" was the best way she could explain it to someone who did not know the circumstances. How to explain Ven's identity and Master Eraqus's attempt to rid him? Or that Terra turned his blade on his own master? That Xehanort had fooled them all and in the process...
No. There was too much to explain, and this was the best way, for now. Another time, maybe. The Master himself would probably be the best choice to explain it.
"Yen Sid's Tower?"
Aqua gaped, clearly stunned at the news. The darkness swallowing up the tower was the last thing she had expected to hear. As pleased as she was about Sora being able to rescue it, she was unhappy to hear that it needed rescuing the first place. The thought that it had been in danger, and then brought back without her prior knowledge bothered her greatly. Her brow furrowed slightly as she fell into contemplation.
"So-"
At Sora's sudden question, Aqua snapped back to attention, bringing her mind back into focus. "No, actually. Ven came back recently. I've been traveling on my own for the most part..."
Though she could not say why Ventus had returned, after all her years of searching for Terra. She still fought for the balance of darkness and light, and slayed any heartless in her way. And there were a few times she took part in a war that threatened a world's occupation of the light that she had corrected. But now that she thought about it, she still had not really known of the others and their progress.
Staring at her folded hands on the tabletop, the woman finally lost her giddy smile as she turned grim. Just what else happened over the few years as she lost touch with the others? Trying so hard to chase after Terra... "I'm afraid I haven't really been as involved as I should have been."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] Tear down The walls that will surround
(OOC: Again, sorry about the lateness of this post, this past week I've been sick and with the current staff workload I haven't been able to get to it now. Apologies! Also... Ven's gonna stop being a lazybum and post here, he knows that... right? xD)
Honestly, it wasn't a sloppy eater. Sora had actually known and could feel where the ice cream was cold and glistening off his cheek. A grin crept up across his face, and he wiped away where it was, laughing heartily. "Just kidding. I gotcha." he chuckled, for even this behavior was childish. But it was all worth it, just to see Aqua laugh and smile for a change. She had enough doom and gloom in the Realm of Darkness, and probably from her stress of duties from being a Keyblade Master, but despite that Sora loved to put a smile on the faces of his friends.
For the record, Aqua had probably forgotten, but she had told him about Ven's role as half the requirement of impatiently getting the x-blade. But Sora wasn't thinking about that right now, more of the positive aspect about Aqua's journey. Aqua reacted to the news of his safekeeping of Mysterious Tower, which told Sora she knew of the place, but the conversation directed back to what she had been up to. "Oh, okay. Well, it must be fun having a friend on the road, right? I used to travel with Donald and Goofy a lot, and they always were there to help me out in a tight spot or when I was feeling down. Not to mention all the laughs we had." he smiled.
But it wasn't really working, as he noticed quite quickly she had lost her giddy smile, and the reserved body language of her hands folded on the tabletop. Quickly, Sora reacted, and tried to keep the conversation on a brighter note.
"Hey, don't worry about that right now, it's not like you can change the past. What matters is what is happening now, how we can help our friends out, right? I've heard news that I missed out on some epic battles at Kingdom Hearts, and the one time recently Riku and Lea saved me. But I don't care about any of that. As long as I'm here now, and I'm part of a bigger group of friends that I can protect, that to me is all that matters. Even if they do have sad faces now and then." he chided a little, looking at Aqua suggestively with his joke.
Speaking of friends, he looked up and around, noticing Ven had still not arrived yet. "So, what happened to Ven? Is he lost? If you like, I could sit here and tell you the story of everything you missed out on. Or, we could get up and go look for your friend, but we might miss him if you told him to meet us here. What do you think?" he suggested, considering they had just sat down at the table. He took another bite of his ice cream, maybe a little bit in nervousness in anticipation at meeting this keybarer friend of Aqua's that the idea of sounded so... familiar.

It was rare that Aqua was embarrassed. Most of the time she was matter-of-fact and stern, but the boy’s (no, he was not really a “boy” anymore, was he?) the young man’s gentle chiding left her feeling a little flustered, though in slightly amused way. He had grown so much in the years of her absence, with wisdom that was uncommon for one his age. It made her feel... well, young again, and getting a lecture from her own master. His advice was sound and true. Especially since... well, it was something Aqua would have said in his place. The keyblade master could not help but feel a swell of pride at this reveal of his character. Which in retrospect was odd. She had only met him briefly when he was a child, and it was not as though she had any part in his upbringing or training. Perhaps it was because he reminded her so much of a certain friend of his.
She smiled again, and it was in gratitude this time. "Would you look at that. Someone’s become a real Master while I’ve been away. Thank you, Sora. I’ll have to work to keep up my own smile from now on. For Ven’s sake too."
At her que, Sora glanced around for the aforementioned young man, though his search came up fruitless, even when Aqua glanced around as well. At his suggestions, her stomach cinched in uease. He actually had been gone for a while, now that the keyblade master thought of it. It was a fact that did not sit well with her. For the first few times she absolutely had to part from him, the woman always had to beat down the anxiety that always came with their separation. By telling herself that things were different this time, and that she would see him again.
This was not helping her.
Her smile was strained, but genuine as she stood."I think we’d better go find him, just to be safe. Knowing that hopeless sleepyhead, he’s probably off taking a nap somewhere." Gathering the cones in the box, the woman kept up her smile so as not to worry Sora. "Tell me while we walk. It’ll give us something to talk about while we look for him."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] Cry, out Above the burning sound
(OOC: Plot rolling sounds good to me!)
"The Master thing is just a formality. I already proved I'm a Master." Sora smiled a little sheepishly. But he was glad to hear Aqua caught on with the positive thinking of keeping a smile up. He could only hope it would last in the dark times to come, and even if this memory wasn't enough, he hopefully would be around to cheer her again along with her friends. He supposed that's why he was good to have as a friend, because he always tried to keep spirits high. Even when he lost his smile and hope at the thought of Riku missing and Kairi being kidnapped by the Organization, his friends had always been there to cheer him up.
He almost regretted when he brought up the point that Ven was still missing, as Aqua appeared to seem anxious. She must have really cared for Ven as a friend to become so worried about him, and Sora wondered if he would ever get to meet the guy to find out why. That brought up an idea for something else to talk about with Aqua, but he put that thought aside for a moment as he glanced around for a moment longer to see if he could spot Ven in the crowd... only to realize he had no idea what he looked like anyway. What could be taking him so long? Maybe something had happened that got him sidetracked, until Aqua spoke up and although it seemed strained, her smile still remained as Sora listened to a reason that triggered a fond memory in his mind.
It reminded him of more innocent times back on his island, back when all this wouldn't seem like it was real to Sora, when he would be having a strange dream on the beach before Kairi found him waking up and told him he was a lazy bum. "That sounds a lot like something I'd do!" he remarked, laughing. "Okay, let's go together." he agreed in acknowledgement to Aqua as they stood up from the table and took Ven's ice cream, biting into his again before it would completely melt. Aqua and Sora have left the thread and the thread has ended. Thank you!
