The end of the world has successfully been postponed due to the outstanding first round battles. In the second round a few things are changing. First, the time limit for bouts is no longer one full month. Two weeks will be the alotted time for our combatants to wage war against one another. Secondly, teams will now only have 72 hours (3 days) to make posts. That's right we're going head on in a fast series of beat-downs to decide who our championship contenders are! This match is between the Mercs with Perks and Team Midnight Shade. The match ends on January 22nd at 11PM EST. Posting Order: Emblem, Ysera BEGIN! [/b][/center]

The start of a new round, but would actually end up being the first real fight that the strange girl hailing from Traverse Town could end up competing in. One really couldn't count the previous bout against one of the heavy favorites to take home the title, and the crowd certainly wasn't too pleased with the judge's decision to disqualify him. Under what accord, no one really knew except perhaps the gods themselves? They were in the grand arena that was built partially to provide entertainment to them and the mortal masses, so it couldn't be too farfetched for one of those divine beings to be around could it? Uchitel Emblem wasn't known for being the brightest bulb in the book, but she at least could defend herself with the argument of being well-read.
"Though, I can't really take the grand title away from Alcadeius. She's too off the wall for me to even compete." she muttered to herself with a sigh, entering the open battlefield with her pristine jacket glimmering under the sun's rays.
Her entry into the coliseum was greeted with a mix of jeers and cheers. Some of the spectators weren't pleased to know that an 'underdog' stole a free win against the people's champion. It was pretty clear, from the profanity and anger in their tone, that they were rooting for the other side this time. Others however, were curious as to what Emblem could offer to the table; no doubt caused by her little Gates of Deus exhibition with Chevalier d'Eon.
That's about the only thing she had going for her in this tournament. Only her teammates have had any prior knowledge to her, causing the young pugilist to be this tournament's wild card. Alcadeius probably would've played up that advantage and milked it's strategic value for all its worth, but that sounded really hard and complex to the honest fighter. She wasn't here to deceive the audience anyways, even if the whole bloodshed thing was a bit creepy as a source of entertainment in her honest opinion.
Taking her marked position in the right side of the open battlefield, the raven haired girl slowed down her paced breathing and shut her eyes. Bringing both hands to meet and locked into a meditative, standing position, Uchitel Emblem brought inner peace to her body. In a quick display of flowing arms and legs that almost seemed artistic to Easterners, she brought her right leg around to perform a crescent axe, heel stomp that blasted a large dust cloud in a full radius around her.
"Osu!" Uchitel proudly chanted out, building up her own motivation as she awaited for the arrival of her opponent.
The dust had been kicked up from a release of ki from her body during the calming. She had recently began to train harder to control the internal energy, as well as various means to expel it in forms of offense. Where her foot had landed created a 2.5 inches deep ditch; caused by the burst of ki. Uchitel didn't figure the audience could notice such a detail, but the warrior was proud of the accomplishment. Her stamina felt fine, breathing was in sync, and she was plenty motivated. It was just a moment or so, before the curtains rose to reveal who her opponent was this time.
Abilities Used ------------------------------------------ Mixed Martial Arts: The undefined style that is what the user makes of it. Through physical fitness and training, the combatant is significantly more versed to handling hand to hand situations than a typical unarmed foe. Mixed martial arts, while free flowing, does focus more on practical usage of skills in a fight, and is not nearly as structured like traditional arts such as Xiaolin Kung fu. Uchitel is disciplined in the following with familiarity:
- Commando Sambo: The art developed and perfected by the Soviets of Russia. It was designed to be a merger of various international martial arts and to be utilized by their armed forces. Sambo has origins from Judo and Greco wrestling, and mix a variety of strikes to feints that can lead to various grapples from either standing or grounded. Their holds are very complex, but precise in placing intense amounts of pressure in various areas at once from multiple openings. Bent-joint locks, jiu-jitsu-esque lock transitions from judo-like throws, powerful elbow and knee blows to the mid section, and a flowing switch between ground to clinch. Soviets are nefarious for being conditioned to machine-like states, and their martial art is no less strict on the scales.
Combat Sambo also specialize in clinches transitioning from parries or catches, a trait necessary for the Spetsnatz in the Cold War. Uchitel, the name of this style, is known as the grandmaster rank for this art; aptly designated for Emblem.
- Judo: The Japanese art that is a very popular sport. Original forms of Judo however, was anything but sport-like. It is also very common for Judokan (users) to retrain within Sambo due to the similarities. Judo heavily emphasizes the three pinnacles of grappling: strength, balance, and posture. Champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu users have remarked champion Judokan are nightmares to roll with because of their overall tankiness in battle. Judo focuses heavily on learning to deny throws through maintaining the superiority in the battle for the center of gravity, learning how to recover and break free from clinches, as well as how to rain down trouble once a mount has occurred. Judo also has strikes, in the form of guard breaking strong arms, and wide arc sweeps. It is not uncommon for Judokan to be guard specialists, representing the sentinel of the grappling world.
- Shotokan: The Japanese flourished martial art that heavily enforces strikes. Originally formed from the Okinawans, who emphasized a far simpler...yet arguably more effective form than many sport martial arts today. Constant, well placed hits optimized by the spacing with the footwork of shotokan karate makes this striking style a unique choice when compared to typical arts. Karate mobility adds a heavy emphasize of diagonal movements, and distance of steps to further improve the 'in and out' footsie game of a fight when compared to the linear Muay Thai style. When infused with kickboxing or striking style defenses, the user gains a whole new dimension of mobility in a fight by being able to seamlessly cut sharp angles while being able to still execute devastating blows.
- Shoot Boxing: A far eastern take on kickboxing, though is more focused on classic boxing instead of the mat-game. Lightning fast jabs that can transition into clinches to the elbow and shoulder area when mixed with other styles. Shoot Boxing's fundamentals are loose and varied, making it a solid synergist when it comes to filling in the gaps at close-mid range and capable of transitioning between a strike to a clinch game on the fly. The weaves obtained from keeping the boxing aspect in tact allow for flexible counters, as well as keeping the fundamental high guard up mixed with a wider spread for the grappling aspect.
- Taekkyon: The niche with a lot to prove in this diverse martial art world. Shadowed by the sporty Taekwondo, this style is the original form before infected by the Japanese influence. Korea's lethal kicking art still focuses on mid-long range dominance with powerful leg work, but does not aim for the flashy reverses that its successor teaches. Technically Emblem's weakest style, but Taekkyon has all the things that Taekwondo did not. When mixed with Shotokan, the ability to deliver various chambered kicks without the need to switch step allows for less telegraphed power shots to the limbs; especially the ankles and tendons near the knees. Emblem's transition from the draw to the chambered state shows masterful uses, taking advantage of her flexible body. Any sort of set-up with a bent leg can lead to a chambered shot, which opens up a constant 50/50 game for a wary opponent trying to scout the next shot. [/style]

Looking at her current opponent, it appeared to Ysera that she was just fighting a Hume this time, not one with mechanical wing... arm... things... what was that man anyway? She wasn't too certain what to think of her last opponent, even now.
The wings on her back folded back as her feet landed on her side of the arena. She gave a light bow, or nod, with the head towards her opponent despite her serious facial expression. Ysera didn't really care for battles, her reason to fight was to continue forward and learn from all the experiences she went through. Those that didn't fight would just be left behind, she simply needed to continue forward, always and ever. Especially now she was fighting for a team, she wasn't to let her team down any time soon.
Taking bow to hand, the Gria stood ready to fight and with the start of the match, she took an arrow. The arrow was an enchanted one as she did take in the details and from just looking at the stance and positioning, she figured her opponent was a close-range combatant, so her first decision was to take away her movement with a Vitals Shot.
In a quick movement, she had her arrow placed on her bow and took aim at the opponent's legs. Then releasing the string, the arrow was fired at the woman in the hopes of hitting her. Being the first to attack in this match. She didn't really see much chance that the arrow would hit any other part of the woman's body unless she defended her legs with an arm, but Ysera earlier expected the woman to try and dodge it. However, by making a quick attack immediately at the start, she had hoped to catch her opponent off-guard.
Whether it hit or not, the Gria wasn't going to wait to see as she took a second arrow upon her bow, a normal one this time and fired a second arrow quickly after the first.
Actions- Vitals Shot: Ysera creates a special enhanced arrow that isn't solid and, thus, does no damage when hitting someone with it. Instead it causes a status effect upon those she hits with it for one posts. When hitting someone in the legs, this effect will be immobilize, meaning the person cannot move for the duration. He can still fight from the spot he's on, but he's unable to leave that specific spot. When hitting someone in the arms, this effect will be disable, meaning the person cannot attack with his arms nor with any weapon or magic. In short, he's unable to make any offensive actions, but can still move around. When hitting someone in the torso, this effect will be silence, meaning the person cannot attack with any magic spells nor cast spells the remainder of the duration. When hitting someone in the head, this effect will be blind, meaning the person cannot hit anything with physical attacks, so any melee attacks with or without weapons will miss, but magic attacks still work normally. Two post cooldown.
- Fired a normal arrow for second action.
Cooldowns Vitals Shot: Two posts. [/style]

There you are my opponent! Was worried you wouldn't show up for a moment or two." Emblem cheerfully called out, beaming a clear smile and advancing with her hand extended. "Here's to a good fight and no hard..."
There comes a time where instinct takes over one's cognitive thought trains, and that very point occurred when Emblem's Gria opponent raised her bow to fire. A 'tell' to her attack, as it was called in the world of combatives. Emblem's core pulsed with guidance at this motion, as a faceless mannequin re-enacted the entire procedure a trained professional would go through to fire a bow in her mind. To her eyes, she could almost synchronize with the leveling of the arrow and the pull on the bowstring to lock the power in.
"...feelings?"
Then came the tell to the Gria's attack, and would ultimately be her weakness if not corrected. The bow was leveled and positioned lower than the center mass of a standard target, being right at the diaphragm of a person's body. Projectile wielders typically aim for a larger area unless specializing for a particular effect, such as a bleeding wound for hunters or instant death for snipers. This was the tipoff to the pugilist that this fighter aimed not for a kill in this shot, but one that would maim her mobility. Whoever she was, Emblem was pretty sure they were a great shot. She was in visual range to make a confirmation that it was a steady grip and the tip was poised to strike lower than it ought to.
Uchitel Emblem was no archer, but the ways of that weapon was no stranger to her entire being due to a skill Chevalier had dubbed, "Eternal Arms Mastery." Such an analysis of weapons in battle were almost crucial back in the darker times, and often determined the difference between a healthy trip home or the morgue. She heard the release before visually seeing it, and immediately went into a overarching fan kick belonging to the Korean arts of Taekkyon. Uchitel Emblem first brought her right leg up high and let it move horizontally like a geisha whisking her fan open. The left leg followed suit, while she produced a springy landing to her rather showy evasive usage of a dangerous killshot to the martial art.
It was a good fortune for her to land in such a manner too, for the enemy didn't waste a moment to strike again. There was a second arrow incoming and probably fired in attempts to blindside her during the evasive motion. A clever strategy and very commonly referred to as a double tap for guns. Emblem would've giggled at the term "double-pluck" if she had the time, but there wasn't enough for a second evasion that didn't place her in a compromising position.
She widened her stance into a straddle formation, arching the left arm back and angling the right arm like a wedge forward. A stance of Shotokan karate, romanized as the mental alertness. The arrow moved swiftly in and in response, Uchitel took advantage of this styles infamy for angled steps as opposed to modern four point movement. Her feet side shuffled just barely so that the arrow was now off axis from a clean hit to her midsection, but repositioned to be on point with her now 'chambered' left arm.
Chambering a kick or punch was similar to loading a bullet into a firearm. One prepares the attack through a stance and can reposition as necessary to ensure it hits cleanly. The mental alertness stance of the Shotokan allows the user to keep one arm 'loaded' for an assault depending on what's needed. A short range power burst would be the rear arm, while the front was normally a deflective or piercing reacher. Emblem however, sharply jutted her arm upward to strike the arrow just after the tip and resulted in a deflected arrow shot. Her proof of execution was the shattered shaft of the Grian arrow.
Emblem shook off the used punching hand, with a noticeable tear in her plated gloves. It wasn't entirely protecting her hand, so it seemed the arrow did something at least. She was happy though, to meet another person who know what they were doing!
"Damn, that was impressive off the start...err what's your name? It's kinda like you're an archer and I'm a monk...but monks were known as priestess if they were female and they also could use bows back in the day but I use fists but know of bows and umm....yeah." Emblem ranted before blushing a bit in her mistake. She tried again with the whole handshake motion, just out of formality.
Actions Taken ------------------------------------------ - Utilized Mixed Martial Arts (Taekkyon) to evade a leg shot via passive knowledge from Eternal Arms Mastery
- Blocked and deflected normal arrow, taking minor damage.
Abilities Used ------------------------------------------ Eternal Arms Mastership: A passive skill granted to those who show mastery in the arts of war unlike any of their time. They are the paragon of armed combat and do not allow degradation of their fighting skills even when under heavy mental hindrance. This is achieved through the merging of mind, body, and technique. It can be best referred as becoming one with the weapon's essence. For Emblem, she has a naturally higher aptitude for wielding weaponry of any sort and skillfully uses them in battle equivalent to a seasoned veteran. While armed with single-edged swords, her mastery is significantly higher than any other. This is best proven by her attire, which is composed of similar weapons in Chevalier d'Éon. Emblem’s mastery using this passive is not the same as one who specializes in the art. She cannot use weapons that have wielding restrictions on them (ex. cannot use a keyblade), and exotic weaponry do not have special effects (ex. Chakrams do not fly back when used.) Her power with weapons are bound by the laws of Gaia, the origins of the phantom core and FURY. For hybrid weapons like a gunblade, she needs to be with a specific form to utilize the function. Revolver gunblades would lean towards the knight sword category and cannot use their burst feature, which would require the Ein Trigger form. Fire arm switchblades could fire like actual hand guns, but the blade portion would be no different than a bayonet or a pistol whip; since the sword/melee mastery would be Chevalier d’Eon’s specialty. Specialties: (Note: These ARE examples of weapon classes. To give you an idea at what each form specializes in using.) - Ein Trigger: Handguns, Rifles, Heavy armaments, Launchers, Bombs, Throwing Projectiles, Crossbow - Chevalier d’Eon: Melee class weapons. (ex. Swords, Polearms, Bludgeons, Daggers), Shields, Bow and Arrow - Alcadeius: Grimoires, Fabric, Enchanted Armaments - Uchitel: Bo Staff, Armored Gloves, Greaves, Fabric, Martial Arts weaponry
This skill is not exclusive to the Chevalier d'Éon form. Eternal Arms Mastery does not spawn weapons for Emblem to use in any form.

Having already started her attack during Emblem's sentence, the Gria supposed it was a rude way to interrupt. However, if she were to simply nod as a response, her first attack was avoided entirely. Looking at the manner it was removed, the Hunter would definitely write her opponent down as a Monk.
The second arrow was also taken care of in an amazing manner where the arrow was deflected barehandedly. Just watching the movements and technique behind her stances and skill left the Gria in awe. This was definitely not an easy opponent at all, from the looks of it, Ysera suspected Emblem to have fought ranged fighters before, having dealt with this sort of attacks in the past. Maybe even other weapon users would have a hard time, she was certain this woman had skill to even fight weapon masters.
Suddenly a lot of wods came as a response to her attacks, which was not something Ysera was expecting having started this fight. More... chatty people... a sigh came out, lightly bothered. "Ysera, where I come from, most Monks are found amongst the Bangaa. Also tend to be male..." she gave as response before she moved her hand upward. At her sides two flashes of light appeared, Sylph appeared on her left and Shivan appeared on her right. "I... don't shake hands, if you mind... Good luck to you," she finalized as her wings started to flap, taking her a bit upward while she prepared herself for her next attack. The two summons she had called also each moved to a side.
Ysera planned to catch Emblem in-between. Using the summons to her advantage, she wondered if Emblem would focus on the two summons first or on herself. Depending on the choice, she would start her next attack as she wondered if she could catch Emblem in a trap of hers.
Actions- Summoned her two summons: Sylph & Shivan.
Active Sylph: Rank I Ranged Non-Elemental Esper. A sylvan spirit that uses Air-type attacks. They’re usually found in groups, but this one is summoned alone. Shivan: Rank I Ranged Water Esper. She’s actually of the Ice-type, the daughter of Shiva. She’s weak to Fire-type attacks while resistant to Water-/Ice-type attacks. She is summoned alone.
Cooldowns Vitals Shot: One post.
Note Due to my summons being still of older days, they got no cooldown nor HP... since they're not very strong, I take it they'll be good with 4 HP or something? o.o; I won't resummon them for the rest of this thread once defeated, I suppose. [/style]

Emblem has been disqualified for failing to make the three day time limit. Team Midnight Shade receives one point.
