UP CLOSE & SACRIFICIAL WORLD: Kingdom of Cornelia REWARD: 150 Munny WORKERS: 3-4 JOB: A large beast has been terrorizing a near by village for many years now. And once every 3 months the villagers are required to give a large sacrifice of food. Thing is they usually have to send someone to take the food, and usually they person ends up getting hurt. The villagers are in need of someone to take the food to the monster so that none of them have to be injured.
Completed - Felix
OOC: Alright folks I’ll be putting you all right in the action with the big scary dragon you’re going to be facing for this fight so I’m going to skip you guys learning of this mission and what not. In addition, I will be improvising a bit with said Dragon’s abilities as according to the wiki article for him he only has one and that would prove extremely boring (plus all dragons got to breathe fire ne?). That aside, the posting order will be Lightning, Stella, Vanille, and finally Noctis and I hope you all have a fun time slaying the big ol’ dragon… OR BEING CRUSHED BY HIS OVERWHELMING POWER MWAHAHAHAHA! Also since the village wasn’t specified in the mission description I’m making a name up :3! IC: It was a delicate situation for the people inhabiting Kokiri Village on this cold afternoon, a blanket of snow covering what used to be a lush land full of crops. Indeed, they were in the middle of a harsh winter that had exhausted much of their food and were now beginning to ration what they had left. It had been a rather long winter, one that bore no remorse with its bitter winds and the heavy piles of snow that kept on falling. Yes, the snowflakes continued to descend from the sky with no end in sight and because of that things were beginning to become desperate. They had hardly any food left and all requests to the nearby capital had been met with a resounding no, the capital claiming that it was affected just as much. While it was probably false, this village full of farmers and otherwise normal folk had no means to argue with nor in the case they did, have any means of forcing the capital to provide them food. No, it was a terrible situation and to make matters worse they would soon need to offer a sacrifice in the form of a bountiful amount of food to a neighboring beast. It lived on a mountain range not too far off and was a terrifying creature that boasted unbelievable strength and abilities. It was a creature of myth, a creature of fantasy, a creature otherwise known as a Holy Dragon. There was no way the people of Kokiri Village could hope to defy such a powerful beast nor had the gull to do so once again. They had done so once and the creature had responded in kind by eating a plentiful amount of the population, an amount proportional to the average offering of food. It was a terrible mistake that the villagers did not wish to make twice and see the lives of so many loved ones be snuffed out again. Yet their survival hung in the balance, an offering that would appease the dragon would deplete their supplies and they would quickly die anyway. No matter what they did all hope seem lost until one villager suggested having some wayward travelers go and give the offering. His suggestion was that they could severely limit the amount they gave the beast, twenty percent at best and have a few travelers take it. Then when said travelers took it up and the dragon wasn’t pleased with the offering, it would eat them to make up the difference. Not only that, but in the event that said travelers happened to be powerful warriors, perhaps they would even slay the beast as unlikely as that was. It was a ludicrous plan but given their current predicament the other villagers couldn’t help but agree even if it was rather cruel and inhumane. Thus word to the capital was sent once more, enlisting any who were brave enough to deliver the offering to the beast for a large sum. And when word reached the capital it seemed that most of those who might take the job declined it immediately, seeing it for the hoax it was. Indeed, not many were naïve enough to believe Kokiri Village had the funds to pay such a reward nor had the courage to want to deliver the offering. Before the plan could even get into the first stage it seemed like all hope was lost until a group of four happened upon the notice. These four were not of this world and thus had no idea what they were signing up for when they had decided to make their way to Kokiri Village. It was there that they would be given their instructions by the man who suggested the plan, informing them to climb the mountain to the north. It would be a perilous journey no doubt, climbing up the mountain in this harsh winter but if nothing else the four were provided the tools for the job if necessary. They were also given the “offering” and were given gestures of good luck although the man cared very little if they actually survived. Whatever the case, when the group of four reached the summit of the mountain, there they would find the beast that they would be delivering the offering to. Upon seeing the warriors the dragon would awaken from its slumber atop the mountain, its head moving lazily over to see them. Its eyes would narrow as it set its gaze upon them, a piercing gaze that seemed to reach to their depths of their souls. Whether this would affect them or not was not known but there was one thing the dragon noticed and that was the insufficient offering. Indeed, what they had carried with them did indeed smell like the food often offered to it but it was far too little. It seemed the villagers were defying it once again, an action the Holy Dragon was not pleased with whatsoever. That being the case, he would have to teach them a lesson, a lesson much harsher than the one given previously, starting with these four. It would open its mouth and within a moment release a breath of fire aimed at the four that would burn them unlike any other fire. It was dragon’s fire after all, nothing was hotter than a dragon’s breath and that was the lesson the dragon would teach these four and Kokiri Village soon enough. Lightning had been on this world for a while, more specifically in the capital, searching for something, anything that could tell her where Serah was and even if she was alive. She had heard about some mysterious power that were bringing those who died back to life. She didn't know if Serah was among the resurrected but she needed to find out for sure. Her search was coming up dry on this world and Lightning felt that the time to move on was getting closer. This is when she heard about a village nearby that was in dire need of help. She agreed to help and a local told Lightning that three others had also answered the villages plea for assistance just moments ago and that they were gathered just outside the city's main gate.
When Lightning left the city she spotted the other three. She could tell that these were the others that had accepted the mission from the descriptions the local had given her. First was a woman with blonde hair and wearing a simple white dress. Lightning nodded to her in acknowledgement but the second person in the group caught her off guard. Lightning couldn't believe who it was. It was a petite little red head that she had fought along side to defeat Orphan and save Cocoon. It was Vanille. [pink]"Vanille? I'm glad you're here. It will be good to fight with you again."'[/pink] The third person was a man with very dark blue, almost black hair and black clothing. Lighting nodded to the man as well then she addressed the group. [pink]"So it would seem that we've all accepted this villages plea for help. Well I'd say we might as well not waist any more time. We should get moving. If you'd like to make introductions you can do it while we're on our way. My name is Lightning."[/pink]
Etro's guardian turned and began walking in the direction of the village. After a short journey to Kokiri Village and speaking with the man who the request for help originated from, Lightning lead the way up the mountain path that lead to the peak where the creature, which she learned in the village was a dragon, resided. With the bag of food slung across her shoulders Lightning and the others made it to the peak. There stood the dragon. Lightning emptied the bag of food on the ground as she had been told to do. However this offering, the villagers called it, Lightning called it nonsense, seemed not to make the dragon happy. Apparently this was nowhere near the amount that the villagers normally offered the beast.
Feeding a dragon... what a waste of time. Lightning supposed she could understand why the villagers did this offering but it would end today. Indeed the dragon was enraged by this petty gathering of food and it attacked the group by breathing intense flames at them. Luckily Lightning’s reflexes were as sharp as ever and she was able to jump high out of the path of the fire just in time. It was a close call as the bottoms of her boots were slightly charred. Lightning darted off to the dragon’s left and approached it from and angle and once she was close enough she used the rocks to get higher and she jumped towards the dragon with the intent of using Bladestorm on the side of the head. Whether or not this attack was successful she would follow up Bladestorm with a Ruin spell. It was Lightning’s hope that this move would distract the dragon enough for the other three would take the opening that she was trying to create and make their attacks on the dragon.
--------------------------------
Bladestorm - Deals heavy physical wind damage to targets in a wide area. 0/3
Ruin - Deals minor non elemental damage to a single target. 0/1

Stella had openly admired what these denizens considered technological marvels, wondering if the people of her own world had relied on such things once upon a time. Stella had been following after Noctis after they had arrived here, since he certainly knew more about this form of traveling than she did. It would be wise to stick with a familiar presence until she was able to learn more about these various worlds. She had also taken it as a personal challenge to get the young male to open up more. The process was a slow one, but she liked to think she was making some progress. There were more pressing matters to attend to right now, though. It seemed that there was some dragon plaguing a village on the outskirts of this capital, and she had been more than willing to agree to help with this task. Stella was certainly sound enough of mind to know that there was more to this quest than what was being told.
There had to be more to the story than merely feeding a dragon. It worried her somewhat that the two of them would be heading into this blind and ill informed. Well, at least there was some comfort in knowing another young woman had agreed to help. Three was better than two, so hopefully it would even the odds in their favor. The trio soon headed to the main gate of the capital, but were soon stopped by another woman coming to join this quest. Stella furrowed her brow slightly as she studied the pink-haired female, sensing a rather familiar power emanating from her. It was rather similar to the one Noctis and herself held. Curiosity burned at her, but she held her tongue from the questions she wished to ask. Now was certainly not the time when they had more pressing matters to attend. Stella smiled warmly instead, quite happy to see that Lightning and this Vanille knew each other. Her greeting was rather cool and to-the-point; determined to get this task under way.
“A pleasure, Lightning. My name is Stella,” Stella introduced as they began their short journey to the village. Their arrival at Kokiri Village was one that had the young Princess rather tense. The eyes of the villagers were filled with a mix of hope, pity, and fear. This was not as simple a task as it sounded, and she had the feeling they would all be walking toward the possibility of death. She would be lying if she did not admit to being somewhat unnerved by the thought. Stella stayed close to Noctis as the ventured to this dragon’s lair; unperturbed that Lightning had automatically taken charge of their small group. She was a natural leader. What was the true purpose of this mission? The answer was not too hard to grasp. Their small band was either meant to slay the dragon for good, or be used as an extra offering in addition to the meager food supply they had been given. Cowardly and underhanded.
Stella held back a small gasp at the sight of the dragon. There was a deadly beauty to the malevolent creature, but now was not the time to admire. The beast had roused from it’s slumber, and it was easy to see there was anger and displeasure at the meager sight of food. A vibrant crest formed behind Stella as she summoned her rapier to her hand, bending her knees as she launched herself into and elegant backflip to avoid the deadly flames. Her telekinesis was used to enhance the distance of her maneuver, allowing her to put more space between herself and the dragon. Lightning had taken the lead in distracting the beast as she cast her own spells. Raising her hand, calling forth her own energy as white orbs began to manifest around her body. The orbs soon spiraled upward over the looming beast, and dispersing into several pillars that struck out against the in the final form of Holy.
WORDS! Meh. TAGS! Vanille, Noctis, Lightning! NOTES! Holy: The ultimate White Magic spells that deals heavy damage with the holy element. Cooldown: 0/3.

Vanille has not posted within the time limit. Her turn will be skipped and she will be forced to take damage from the Fire Breath attack. Noctis is next to post and in the event Vanille does not post in the next round she will be removed from the mission. Noctis has four days to post.[/b]

Turmoil had gripped this land. In small amounts, this small village which lay beyond the borders of communication with the outside worlds had gone unheeded again. Until now, as heroes had risen to fight the plague of threatening famine and scorching death that hung over these villagers like a hangman's noose. Noctis had heeded this call when the conflict on his own home world had been resolved, and he felt compelled to help other worlds in need. During his personal quest to stay the hand of the coming shadow, he had met Stella, an aquaintance he was not entirely sure he was glad to meet again. Their history had been a long and complicated one.
However, as he progressed through the worlds, she had followed him with his method of travel. He couldn't say he was pleased by this, but there was little he could say or do to ward her away. His personal discomfort towards her would have to rest, in the light of the line of duty people like these villagers needed more than ever. As he approached the village, he recognized Vanille, and merely nodded to her. She would introduce herself in her own time, he was sure of it.
As he passed the red-headed girl with pigtails, he met a third woman that had also heeded the call of the village, a woman with strawberry-blonde to pink hair. She recognized Vanille, and Noctis was slightly bewildered at the slightest of senses of Etro's divine grace coarsing from her form. The same sensation he got whenever he viewed the light coming from the heavens, only he and the blond woman who was following him could only see when a soul departed from their world. Were she and Vanille from their world, as well? Only time would tell, as she introduced herself as Lightning... he couldn't help but feel not only the sensation of familiarity of the goddess from her, but also as if he had met Lightning from somewhere before... perhaps in a dream?
"Noctis... but you can call me Noct." were his only words to the women around him, playing it rather cooly by purposely spacing himself from them without straying too far from the group. But in reality, he was feeling rather shy, especially from Lightning whom he had felt he had met before but his memory felt foggy in doubtful clairity that he hadn't. Any other male may have abused his position as the only male in the group and started to flirt or hit on the other females, but Noctis did not take this chance, not because he knew he would be turned down but rather he was more modest a man than that to keep his mind on the mission no matter how distractingly beautiful they all were. He disregarded the man, who had stern instructions for them but felt an underlying cold tone to his words that he wished for them to fulfill their task and nothing more. As they made their way up the mountain, Noctis looked down on the dark rocks and pebbles as they got closer to the peak, almost swearing that he saw the remnants of a skull amongst them. Finally as the dragon was sighted and the offering was placed, Noctis knew this dragon would not accept it, as there would be a reason to sending them up here instead of who would usually do such a brave task. Of course the dragon got greedy and aggressive, and attacked them with a blast of searing hot fire. While Lightning and Stella evaded, Vanille was hit, but Noctis did not plan on getting out of the way in time. Instead he summoned Coat of Arms to block the fiery hot breath away from himself. While the shield was in effect, he would take out a vial from his jacket, and a splash of curative green Cure Potion would splash over Vanille to heal her skin from any severe burns. A crest appeared behind him as he grabbed Falchion out from the rack of rotating weapons orbiting him, and prepared to further support and defend the women who were already attacking, watching the dragon closely for an opportunistic moment to counter-attack.
---
Coat of Arms: The 'defensive' maneuver he uses with his Telekinesis, he can arrange them to became a 'wall' in front of him, which will reflect gunfire back at the user and block most ranged attacks and spells, including even explosions. Only other weapons can damage the weapons, which he will rather not do if he can help it, so he won't use this in melee combat. (Use for one post, cooldown during the next post, before he can use it again.)
Cure Potion: Three turns remaining.

OOC: Jeez Noctis you’re passing up on the opportunity to flirt with the fine young ladies D:?! Jeez if only Felix we’re here to save the day ! IC: It would seem these “pests” had a little more bite to them than most of the humans that had been foolish enough to fight against the Holy Dragon. Indeed, its opening attack had been rather unsuccessful, two of them dodging it whilst the other blocked it using a rather peculiar ability. At the very least though it seemed the red-head had taken the attack, perhaps having hesitated in the wake of such an awe inspiring creature. It was of no consequence though; the dragon had plenty more at its disposal to take care of these troublesome bugs and didn’t mind a little exercise. In fact, it had been quite some time since it had spread its wings and had taken off to the skies so perhaps that was the most prudent course of action given the situation. Yes for the creature’s arrogance had actually allowed the pink-haired rat to land a rather powerful blow against it, the dragon letting out a roar of pain and rage. That being noted, and with a mighty flap of its wings the beast took to the skies evading the follow-up from Lightning as it soared on overhead. Its eyes narrowed as it watched one of the other cretins attempt to cast a spell, a spell that were the dragon able to laugh would have him laughing his posterior off. Yes, the woman attempted to cast a Holy spell on a Holy Dragon, an incredibly foolish course of action considering the creature’s rather resistant scales. Indeed, magic was not an effective means of combating this beast of legend and it was able to brush off the attack rather easily and maintain flight. With the rather advantageous position now, the creature decided to show the sorceress what a real Holy spell looked like. Taking a moment to stop high in the air, the dragon would open its mouth wide once more as a white ball of light began to form around the edge of its mouth. The ball rapidly increased in size before being shot forth toward the three that were still relatively close to each other (I.E. Noctis/Vanille/Stella). Whether the orb itself hit the three or not, once it made contact with anything it would explode in a bright white flash, engulfing the surface of the mountain. The explosion was so powerful in fact that it caused an avalanche to occur, not putting those on top in any danger but a rather impressive feat none the less. Regardless, as the explosion occurred the dragon would then rapidly descend toward Lightning, attempting to sweep her with a mighty swing of its right claw. Whether the blow landed or not though, the dragon would quickly ascend once more to the skies, making use of its rather proficient aerial movement a rather troublesome advantage for any rats to deal with. Thus the question became, how would these four deal with the dragon’s ability to fly and perhaps even ground it if at all possible? This was not going to be an easy battle by any stretch of the imagination. Lightning had been able to land a decent attack on the dragon with her Bladestorm but she missed with the Ruin spell she used afterwards. Lightning landed back onto the ground apart from the others as the dragon took to the air. This wasn't good. The dragon now had air superiority. It was times like these that Lightning wished she still had the ability to summon Bahamut. However, until she could figure out how to gain that ability again she would have to make due with what she had.
Lightning saw that Vanille had been hit by the dragon's fire. She felt like she should have been more attentive and covered the red head instead of rushing head first into battle. She was glad that Noctis had tended to her wounds although some sort of apology would be in order after the battle. For now though They needed to deal with this overgrown lizard. Lightning turned her gaze back onto the dragon, watching it's every move as it flew above the group. The Holy spell that Stella had cast seemed to be rather ineffective against the large creature. Something else would be needed but while Lightning's mind was racing through possible strategies the dragon attacked.
It cast it's own wide-area Holy spell at Noctis, Stella, and Vanille no doubt hoping to catch all of them at once in the blast since they were still close together. [pink]"Watch out for that spell! Spread out!"[/pink] Lightning yelled out to the group. Her warning to the other meant that she had to turn her attention away from the dragon for a brief moment and in the moment it had begun a diving attack towards Etro's guardian. She looked back up and had just enough time to react to avoid a direct hit from the claws, jumping back from the spot that the claws had struck. The impact did send large chunks of rock and dirt in every direction and Lightning was hit by a few of those chunks. One on the right thigh, a smaller one struck her left shoulder, and she was unlucky enough to have a small one hit her forehead with a glancing blow.
She became a bit disoriented and it took her a few moments to shake it off as the dragon climbed up into the air once more. Her vision was a bit blurry but it was gradually coming back into focus. They needed to figure out how to stop the dragon from flying. Lighting thought fast for a few moments before an idea hit her. [pink]"Alright! We need to clip that lizard's wings or this battle is over. Vanille. We're going to lure the dragon down low. Then you go fishing..."[/pink] Lightning said with a small smirk, she was sure that Vanille would get the reference. [pink]"Stella, stay with Vanille and do what you can to keep the dragon off her. Noctis, you're with me. Once Vanille has the dragon caught you and I are going to jump onto it's back and clip it's wings."[/pink]
Lightning was confident that this plan would work. It's been used before and it would come in handy now. This battle needed to end as soon as possible and taking away the dragon's flying ability would surely make the battle more even if not give Lightning and the other the upper hand.

[/color] Seeing Lightning gave Vanille a sense of ease. The pink haired warrior was as strong as Fang. Was very tough and she wouldn't give up to protect. The man near them was not a complete stranger. "I'm Vanille." Vanille quickly waved at the blonde girl and the man. When the blonde introduced herself, Vanille nodded in acknowledgement. Vanille began to think to herself about the village's problems then. I hope we can help the village. As the group walked, Vanille was in her own old and had her hands on her arms. The air was crisp with cold and moments like this made her wish she had a blanket. To be near a warm fire with a blanket, hearing people talk about their times outside the village. Everyday life outside Oerba. She was once again going back to more peaceful times. Before being branded a l'Cie and before ever being turned to crystal. Most of her time on Cocoon was spent worrying, lying, fighting for her life, and running. She met a new family, but not every moment was happy. Couldn't deny that there were fun moments. Moments where there was no worry. Moments that were perfect stuck with her. Shivering once more, Vanille finally came out of her happy times and noticed the dragon emerging. Vanille's face expression changed from being obviously cold to an expression of fear. "Ahhhh." Vanille started to say aloud and took out her weapon. Before she knew had time to react, a blistering pain of fire hit her. As quickly as it happened, she felt herself being healed of the severe burns. Vanille! Keep your head together! Vanille heard Fang's encouraging words, as if she were there with her. "Thanks!" Vanille said aloud and set her weapon up for attack. Almost as quickly, Vanille took note of another attack and listened to Lightning's words. Spreading out from the powerful spell would be the best thing to do. Vanille jogged over to a safe distance and kept her weapon's cables inside it. Had no need to run with cables going everywhere. Lightning's next words rang through her. Fishing! "Right!" Spacing her feet apart, Vanille swung the weapon so that the four cables would extend. If succeeded, the cables would attach to the Holy Dragon and Vanille would keep her feet planted firmly on the ground.[/ul] --- Sorry for taking so long for my post and this post for being sorta quick.

(OOC: Don't ruin this for me, Felix, I have my own methods. No need to save the day. Rofl.)
Vanille was cured of her burns, and that sent a exhale of slight relief from the Prince. Last thing they needed was to cover someone severely injured while they were trying to fight a ferocious beast. The dragon's next attack took it to the air, and Noctis watched as it started firing a Holy spell near identical in appearence to Stella's. Lightning called leadership orders for them to spread out, and Noctis was not going to contest her, his shy persona falling back to be happy to comply with orders if it meant they could all work efficiently together. He spread out away from Stella and Vanille so the damage would be less, but the holy-element atttack blasted into him as it hit the ground, sending Noctis rolling as rocks and granite flew and cut shallow marks into his skin.
He groaned painfully, rolling to regain his footing upright. A rock had cut across his cheek, torn a hole and a gash in the sleeve of his shouler, a slightly deeper but not severe cut across the muscle of his lower left arm. Noctis was less concerned about himself however, and after glancing to check the others and the dragon looked at the larger avalanche move down the mountain. If nothing was done, the avalanche would destroy the town or even kill the villagers. His eyes glowed, and Noctis quickly used Telekinesis, while he could only summon one weapon with the Holy Dragon present he summoned his Swallow-Blade to appear as a invisible trap down ahead of the avalanche. It then appeared, rotating in the air like a helicopter blade or a boomerang to cut several paths through the rolling debris to cut down the larger and unstable rocks into less dangerous rubble.
Turning back to the dragon, he heard Lightning's orders again. He nodded, this time summoning Halberd as his new replacement weapon. As Vanille used her weapon fantastically as a cat-o-nine tails fishing line and attempted to attach her hooks to the dragon's wings, he threw his axe-head spear above the dragon. He then teleported and caught the weapon in mid-air. Driving the spear down in a Jump-like attack, finishing Teleportation and stabbing the dragon in the shoulder blade of it's wing. With the velocity and surprise of his attack hopefully crippling the dragon, he gripped his weapon hoping it had made a crippling hit.

It would seem these humans still weren’t dead, perhaps made of more durable stuff than all the villagers the mighty dragon had slain before. Yes, they were certainly far more fortuitous and perhaps a bit smarter as the one with pink hair called out to the other woman burned earlier. It would seem that they had some sort of plan in mind and while the dragon was no mind reader it could gander an accurate guess. If it had to make an assumption, their next move would be to attempt to ground the beast somehow or otherwise impair its aerial movement. Certainly a promising notion although whether they would be able to pull it off was another matter entirely as the dragon wouldn’t make it easy. Thus when the woman burned earlier had thrown a set of hooks toward the Holy Dragon it would take evasive maneuvers to deal with that and the rat above it. Indeed, they seemed to be working as a team and the dragon would by no means be caught by such a meager attack. All it had to do was retract its wings for a moment, spiraling in the air in a fashion similar to a F-16 doing a barrel roll. By doing so, the cables that were shot at it were easily brushed off and the attack that Noctis had made merely glanced the dragon. It hurt quite a bit but it was nothing the dragon couldn’t withstand nor near the level of any attack it had taken when battling other of its kin. Regardless, now it was the dragon’s turn to return fire and spreading its wings once more it would glide through the air very low, curving around in a semi-tight turn. Positioning itself such that it would be relatively in front of the warriors that were challenging, it would begin wildly flapping its wings toward them. This in turn would cause the broken bits and other rocks on the mountain as well as the snow to be lifted and sent flying towards the warriors rather rapidly. Not only would this effectively blind them but the rocks and gravel would certainly prove to be rather difficult to avoid as well as painful. Yet the dragon wouldn’t end his attack with just that and after having flung a sufficient amount of snow and rock at them would unleash the last spell within its arsenal. Yes, the final spell would call lightning down upon the heroes from the heavens, a large bolt of lightning attempting to smite each of them. Needless to say, if struck by the attack it would be rather painful and even if it was evaded, the debris caused by the lightning would still be a rather pressing concern. And with that last attack, the dragon would take to the skies again although not nearly as fast as it had been prior. After all, it had spent quite a bit of energy to flap its wings so much for its previous attack. Things were not looking good. The fishing plan had failed. The dragon had simply rolled it's body in mid air to avoid Vanille's cables and Noctis's attack seemed to do some damage but not enough to force the dragon to land. Something needed to happen to give them an edge and it needed to happen soon. Vanille had been able to escape the dragon's Holy spell's area of effect but Noctis and Stella didn't have as much luck and took damage from the magic. Lightning was formulating a plan in her mind even as she watched the dragon soar above their heads as if it was mocking them for their inability to easily reach it due to it's altitude in the sky.
Apparently the dragon didn't want to waste too much time taunting it's opponents as it descended down towards the group. Once it was low enough it began to rapidly flap it's wings, kicking up more chunks of rock and a large amount of snow. Lightning brought her arm up in front of her eyes to shield them from the debris but she could not shield the rest of her body and while the snow was harmless but irritating the rocks pelted her causing a fair amount of pain. She gritted her teeth and did her best to tolerate the pain and while she was hurting by a fair from being pelted by rocks not once, but twice, her resolve did not waver one ounce.
Then she heard it. the crackle of the clouds that signified the coming of a thunder element spell and due to the loud volume of the crackles it was a high level spell. Probably a Thundaga if Lightning was correct. She knew that Thundaga, like all thunder spells, came from directly overhead the target. So even though her vision was obstructed by the flying snow she knew what to do. She threw her left hand right above her and unleashed a Ruinga spell. The Ruinga spell shot straight upward and collided in mid air with the Thundaga spell that was coming down on her. The two spells cancelled one another out and resulted in an explosion that knocked Lightning down and did inflict some damage to her but not as much as she would have taken from the Thundaga spell itself and hopefully did some damage to the dragon too. She knew that the explosion might affect the rest of the group but due to her lack of vision she couldn't tell if any of them were within range.
Lightning stood back up. She was feeling sore and was hurting a fair bit but she wasn't out of the battle yet. The air was much clearer now because of the explosion's shock wave forcing the debris away from her. She looked up and saw the dragon trying to get airborne once more but it seemed to be struggling to gain altitude. Lightning saw this as her opportunity to go in for a big attack... the big attack. They needed to take this dragon down and they needed to take it down now. Despite the pain she was feeling Lightning ran quickly and once she was at the right distance she jumped onto some boulders and then made a final jump up as high as she could.
This dragon left the ground for the last time. Lightning, now above the dragon, came down onto the dragon's back. Then, not wasting any time, unleashed her limit break, Legion of one, a flurry of gunblade slashes and gunshots tore into the base of the dragon's left wing followed by a extremely powerful downward slash that resulted in a large pillar of energy pushing down on the dragon, this would do very heavy damage to the dragon's wing, most likely ripping it to shreds if not severing the wing outright. After the attack Lightning jumped off the dragon and landed closer to the rest of the group. Once she landed she was panting and took a knee. She was feeling a bit drained as that attack always takes a lot out of her. She would do what she could to help finish the fight but it was most likely up to Stella, Vanille, and Noctis to take the opportunity she created and finish the beast off.

Blue eyes widened as she quickly threw herself towards anywhere that the spell would not hit. The energy from the strong spell still sent the young woman skidding along the rough ground. Stella grit her teeth as the pain set in, and she glanced down at the scrapes that littered her arms and legs. Well, not use in wasting a healing spell on superficial wounds. She tried to quickly push herself into a standing position. Her muscles protested, but she ignored the pain in favor of killing this beast first. At least she knew her Holy spell would incur little to no damage on the dragon, since it obviously favored that element itself.
Whatever plan Lightning had attempted was soon foiled by the dragon quickly rolling itself while in midair. The air turbulence began to pick up, and her senses heightened as magic filled the air. They needed to end this battle as fast as possible. Stella squinted her eyes to see through the haze of dust that began to permeate through the air. Her body tensed as the lightning began to clash through the sky, and so she tossed her rapier as far as she could in the opposite direction. Her body vanished a moment later as the Thundaga spell crashed where she had been standing. Stella reappeared a few meters away with her hand firmly wrapped around the hilt of her rapier. That had been too close.
Stella could hardly see through the debris, and she knew she needed some leverage. She hoped Vanille, Lightning, and Noctis were alright. Her concern was pushed aside in order to get this battle done. The young woman pushed her bruised body into a steady run before using her Telekinesis to lift her from one boulder to the next with ease. She took a second to take her breath before her rapier disappeared in favor for her great bow. The weight settled comfortably into her hands before the entire array of her weapons surrounded her. Thirteen lethal weapons that would be shot in successive order at the dragon above her.
Grace of Etro was soon ended when her arsenal of weapons came down to merely her rapier. Stella took careful aim for the dragon’s right wing, since Lightning had unleashed her own limit break on the opposite wing. Her great bow vanished in a flash of light as her magic caused time to slow momentarily. Her body vanished again as she reappeared to catch her rapier, deliver one final heavy attack on the right wing. Hopefully her rapier would tear through the sinew and thin skin membrane. Stella let her body rush to the ground as her Telekinesis eased the blow. Would that help to finish it? By the Goddess, she hoped so.

[/i] spell flying at it. Lightning was holding her own quite well, but her most recent attack had taken a lot out on her. This was all based on her perception of watching her friend fight this monster. When the Dragon flew up to send a gust of wind at them, before the anything could hit her eyes Vanille shielded them with her arm. Rock and gravel hit, earning her a scrunched face of pain and a groan. The fire that had burned her had still left minor burns, thanks to Noctis's potion much of her wounds from the fire had been cured; however, with the rocks/gravel gave her a few gashes, cuts, and bruises. Last time she felt like this, was when Jihl had "interrogated" her. Vanille rubbed her eyes with her arm and looked around, a Lightning bolt was now being sent towards them. Thinking quickly, Vanille tried using the ground as a springboard and jumped to avoid the bolt. The bolt was dodged, but the scatter effect could not be dodged and struck Vanille. Once again rocks struck her skin and wild electricity stuck and went past her. This dragon had to go down, Hecaton came into her mind and she had absolute faith that Hecaton would help end this. One good thing about still being a L'Cie was the summon. Silently she began to call Hecaton and the brand on her upper thigh began to glow to match the glowing ground around her. Putting her hand over the brand, an orange crystal came into her hand, she then threw it in the air to finish the calling of her summon. In several seconds, Hecaton stood behind Vanille. Quickly jumping into battle Hecaton used Forced Projection to deal physical damage on the Dragon. Stella and Noctis seemed to be doing well too, but with their fair share of wounds. While Hecaton was firing on the dragon, Vanille quickly changed to her Medic role.[/ul] ---- OOC: >< I'm not very happy with this post, it was forced not by people forcing me, but me mentally forcing out. >< Ruin: Deals moderate non-elemental damage at one target. (Cooldown: One post.) summon, Hecatoncheir (Hecaton)-- (Duration in battle: Four posts.) Force Projection: Deals physical damage on one target from a long range. (Cooldown: Two posts.)

The tip of the halberd buried itself into the ground as Noctis slammed the point deep into the earth, shaking it from the exuding power, cracks forming in the hard granite from the impact point. As the dragon made a heavier tremor and began flapping it's wings, massive blasts of arctic powder-white snow was blown up, and for the life of him Noctis was blinded and could not see anything. In case the dragon was smarter than it looked and had planned this, Noctis held onto his Halberd until he knew the wind would not blow him away, dismissing it and summoning his trusty Falchion. He held this up before himself in a reverse grip, the width of the weapon while he was down on one knee covering his body, deflecting the chucks of heavy rock that clunked and tinkered off the solid metal of the weapon.
This would prove to be a disadvantage holding the weapon up before him in a vertical manner before him, however. As the thrum of thunder swelled above him in such a way it was clear it was a powerful Thundaga attack, his weapon acted like a lightning rod, smacking down upon him instantaneously and shocking him violently before throwing him off his feet backwards. He hit the ground hard on his back, grunting painfully, staring up at the dragon as it began to launch itself skyward once more. Once the electricity had stopped his muscles from spasming in one motion in a knee-jerk reaction backwards, Noctis summoned his next weapon in the same manner as if it were like muscle memory to defend himself, the Falchion disappearing momentarily as his machine gun appeared in his hands and he pulled the trigger. Bursts of bullets flew up in a storm towards the underbelly of the dragon, until Noctis could compose himself, getting back up on his feet.
"Alright, all together, now!" he yelled, sensing the dragon's weakness in it's fatigue. Knowing that was not going to finish the dragon outright, he watched the women around him begin some of their most powerful limit breaks. Lightning unleashed Legion of One, moving powerfully and elegantly around the dragon's wing before coming down upon it and exploding upwards a large pillar of energy. Stella unleashed Grace of Etro, all her weapons being launched from her great bow at once in one graceful and deadly volley. Vanille summoned her eidolon, the same light that appeared from Etro's gate radiating from her mark and from the summoned eidolon a delicate but deadly dance of death as Hecatoncheir's many arms dug into the earth and launched themselves upwards. And Noctis ran forward and leaped, grabbing onto one of the many outstretched cable-like arms of the summoned being and swung himself around it to increase his acceleration, bursting forth like a speeding bullet as his machine gun fell away from his hand and was replaced in the nether-pocket of his arsenal with Short Sword.
Noctis's hair changed from midnight black to navy blue, his eyes from that same dark navy blue to an intense hot cinammon red. He flung up between Lightning's Legion of One and Stella's Grace of Etro, his sword held behind him until he reached the dragon's height and zipped past his head, holding it forth to drag past the neck and deep across the back. As the blade made contact, he teleported rapidly, attacking at different angles from a circular circumfrence all around the dragon. A shot of gun rapid fire from one direction, a pierce of lance from behind, a explosion of handcannon mortar blew out of him from above as he blipped in and out of existance in three dimensions. Finally after he had attacked with all twelve weapons, he appeared not above the dragon, but directly below it's underbelly upside-down and pierced upwards, or downwards in his perspective in a two-handed motion with Falchion as he finished his devastating Master of Weapons. After he had driven deeply home his undodgable limit break, he pulled the weapon out and flipped to land uncomfortably but in one piece on the ground, hoping this final attack was enough to rid the village of this draconic menace once and for all.
If not, he was willing to fight like his friends around him until they did.
