(Let's do iiiit. Firework show gooooo.) Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
The packed streets didn't exactly serve as a comfortable place for someone as attuned to a quiet workshop as Rayne was. The people rushed through the streets happily though, so not even Rayne could complain about that. She loved when people were happy, and seeing so many wearing their smiles and pleasures on their sleeves played a beautiful melody in Rayne's heart. She skipped through crowds, carrying her daughter Kisa tightly in her arms, in an effort to make it to the open area that was this town's center. The heels of her furry boots clicked on the stone road beneath them almost like a pair of horseshoes, and with each forward step, the golden chimes at either end of her draping cloak released a faint, relaxing jingle.
"We've been counting the days for this, right?" Rayne questioned her daughter amid the noises of the crowd. Kisa, who rested her head on the cushy brown mantle over Rayne's shoulders, facing into the crook of Rayne's neck, turned her head so her mouth pointed more toward her mother's ear. "Yeah," she spoke up shyly, and her volume was quiet, but there was a certain excitement held within her young voice. Being around so many people, just like her mother, made her nervous. She kept herself safe within her mother's arms as they walked. "We're going to have a blast!"
Arriving within the center of this large city, Rayne quickly picked a place a little out of the way. It wouldn't have the best view of the fireworks, but it'd help her daughter's comfort to not be directly in the chaos. It would serve its purpose. As the sun had set a short time ago, a certain level of chilliness had taken to the air. It wasn't too bad on the adults, but to the young ones, it was likely worse. Most of the young children running around the area were bundled up warmly in thicker garments. While sticking out like a sore thumb with their foreign style, Rayne and Kisa were also dressed for the weather.
Rayne wore her warmest coat, which of course, did nothing to sacrifice her unusually stylish sense of fashion, with the fuzzy in-section of her mantle gently warming her neck and keeping it from getting cold. Kisa, on the other hand, wore a simple pink hooded sweater, with the hood up of course. She had a warm pair of flannel pants covering her little legs. While not nearly as idealistically stylish as Rayne wanted, they did their job as functional garments first and foremost. Though a part of Rayne still pouted over how hard it was to get her little girl to dress up in more adorable outfits.
Rayne's eyes sifted through her new surroundings, eventually spotting out a bench. It was directly outside of what looked to be some kind of shop, which had closed down for this festival. As Rayne approached the unoccupied bench, she realized now that she really didn't know what this festival was actually about. She'd heard of it on a trip here some weeks prior, but never asked what it was for. She got tunnel vision when fireworks were mentioned, as Kisa had never seen them before and Rayne dreamed of showing them to her. "How is this?" She waved her white gloved hand toward the bench, calling her daughter's attention. Kisa raised her head and glanced to it, nodding softly. The low, loose ponytails caging her hair dipped out of her hood as she motioned, causing a soft giggle to escape Rayne's lips. "Good, good."
Rayne shifted downward, letting her daughter flop out of her arms and plop down onto the bench with her familiar thud. She landed on her back, laying down on the bench with a grin. "I'll never understand why you let yourself fall out of my arms. Every time, you do that. Never cry, never complain..." Rayne's words trailed off into silence eventually, simply offering a content smile from her soft lips. Her daughter was an odd one, surely, but she was a good girl when all was said and done. Rayne settled down on the edge of the bench, barely able to squeeze on because of her daughter hogging the whole thing. It was a small bench to begin with, but being taken up by a toddler made it difficult to squeeze on. Somehow she managed it though.
Kisa playfully placed her feet up onto Rayne's shoulder, though because she'd hardly walked in her new, bright pink shoes yet, they weren't dirty. Rayne offered a mock scoff at her daughter's action, turning her head to her and playfully sticking her tongue out. Her young daughter reciprocated the action, and before long it simply devolved into the two of them making faces at one another without end... Hopefully no one else would think to join them in this calm part of the town square while they awaited the coming fireworks. That would be...incredibly embarrassing.

“HEY STOP RIGHT THERE!”
“THEIF”
Quick and fast he ran with speed, in a nimble and quick body that he had obtained it proved to hold at least some form of use. Truly this was not quite the best place for the duo to of appeared, but nonetheless they could only make due with what was going on in this world. They could not exactly say what exactly was going on in this world, but even so the numerous people all walking around the streets was a merely something that benefited them even more.
It wasn’t long since they entered this world. It was quite the early morning in the hidden village of the black mages. The young Yukine had awoken far too early, waiting for the sun to arise just like any other day. He stood out staring at the sun rise; however something had caught the attention of Yukine out in the distance. And so Yukine rushed forward towards the strange occurrence. Rushing out into the forest, he stopped until he bore witness to a mass of darkness that acted as portal.
It was a strange thing that the boy saw and he could only stand and watch it, unsure about what to do with it.
“ohoh? Well how very lucky of us!”
The voice of Asura begun to speak into his mind and Yukine continued to stare
“Asura…what is it?”
“The very key to leaving this world my curious little buddy. A portal that shatters the very boundaries that separates the worlds…the very tool that shall allow us to see other lands!”
“You mean…I can leave Gaia?”
The very thought was something that Yukine had never truly thought about, but even so it was an interesting thought. He desired to see the world, live life truly. But could he just leave like this? Could he leave his sibling behind like this and abandon them for his own selfish desires?
“Exactly, though chop chop mah boy, it seems the portals closing”
The sheer notification from Asura caused Yukine’s eyes to widen as he noticed the mass of darkness getting smaller. His chance was about to leave him and he had no idea whether he’d get such a chance ever again. And so Yukine did what his instincts told him, he jumped into the portal and everything went dark and silent, save for the praise that Asura was giving the boy. His last thoughts were of his brothers and sister, causing the boy to mutter a silent apology to them for leaving without saying anything.
And so here they were, rushing down the streets with a smirk spread across the child’s face as guards began chasing him down. Hair brushed back, the boy quickly darted through the crowd attempting to lose the guards. Yukine could not truly understand why Asura was so adamant about taking control now, but Yukine permitted the soul to take control and things went a bit out of control.
Food was quite the necessity, and munny was something they just did not have, so the mischievous Asura could only find an opportunity in this. In his hand was a bag of treats, a simple reward for having a good host. For Yukine, he had no real qualms of this as his own brother was a thief. For Yukine it was a confusing thing that broke the etiquette of moral standings, but at the same time held some worth.
Slowing down, Asura smirked and began to walk “well then, they are out of sight” Asura said speaking out of Yukine’s body nonchalant.
“What now?”
“Simple, we need to get you a new wardrobe” Asura said brushing down his hair “ah, but I had a bit of fun already. Could have just beat those guards down, but that wouldn’t be fun…well not as much fun…I’ll let you have the fun” Asura said before closing his eyes calmly. “you’re up” Asura said before the feeling of control returned to Yukine. Slowly opening his eyes he glanced around at the numerous people walking about, moving around happily. With the sheer number of people he couldn’t help but feel a bit overwhelmed. The area was cold and chilly and what he wore was definitely something that did not help at all. A few people glanced over at him, thinking the boy was crazy for his outfit that barely covered anything, but moved on with their festivities. Yukine could hardly understand what was so “fun” about this, but chose to move on and do what Asura asked.
“Find new clothes…” Yukine said quietly. A thought like that hadn’t really come up for him and he really did not mind his outfit, but Asura always did complain about it and it would have been nice to have something cover him more. The boy walked on, attempting to escape the sheer crowd and find a more open place to accomplish his mission. So many people darting about all happy and gleeful, he could not understand why he felt no desire to stay alongside it. Despite so many people he still somehow felt alone and couldn’t help but think back to his siblings. Perhaps this was a mistake, but even so there was no turning back for him.
He walked on looking around this strange world, but stopped bit trek as he looked over at two females laughing and giggling about as they sat upon a bench. A small and large one make really strange faces at each other, it was truly odd.
“Man what a bunch of jokers….ignore em”
Despite Asura speaking mentally to him, Yukine couldn’t help but ignore the voice in his head and watch the two make the faces to each other. They were odd, but they seemed happy and enjoyed themselves, finding pleasure. Such a thing only seemed even odder as the child’s red eyes continued to watch a fair distance away

(They have a decent bit in common, now that I think of it. They both kinda have dual souls. Rayne has the Black God of Hunger, Fenrir, buried away in her soul. He's also tied to Kisa's too, so beware the toddler!) Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
As Rayne and Kisa continued to make their silly faces at one another, a familiar sensation prodded at the back of Rayne's mind. She did her best to hide the sensation from appearing on her visually... But her daughter could tell something was up. They ceased their silly faces as a familiar voice echoed in Rayne's mind.
Rayne. Someone is watching. I can sense something off about them... It feels almost like our connection, in a way. But it's also different...
What do you mean? W-We're being watched? By who?
Rayne took a quick scan around her surroundings. The only person she noticed was a young boy, hardly dressed for this occasion... Him...? He's just a baby! Her emerald green eyes locked onto the boy's red orbs. He was actually quite adorable. Maybe that was part of her motherly instinct, though. I cannot know more unless I read his DNA. If you can, get a samp- The voice was cut off, however. No, Fen. I'm not going to treat a boy so harshly. It's fine! Just have faith! Rayne smiled gently at the young boy. Kisa, too, glanced at him from within her hood. Her forest green eyes were much more suspect of him than her mother's emerald eyes. Rayne extended her hand to him, signaling for him to come over. Her warm smile and soft features, however young she seemed, carried a gentleness to them that seemed to ease people into her presence. Her blonde hair seemed to make her stick out like a sore thumb amid the dark-haired people found in this world, something she would have in common with this young boy.
The way the boy looked... To Rayne, he seemed a tad confused at what he saw. Maybe even a little lost. As Rayne looked to the other people around, taking notice of the difference in their attire, her mind drew back to her own clothing. She and Kisa didn't look like they belonged either. Maybe this boy didn't belong here? That would explain at least part of his expression. Rayne found herself concerned for him, as she was want to be. Children could get sick far more easily than adults in the cold, and the fact that he was alone here was a worrying factor as well. Rayne hadn't seen anyone else wearing similar attire, so she could only guess he wound up here by mistake. No matter what explanation there was for this, she wouldn't leave him be. It was her duty to help those in need, ESPECIALLY the children!
"Come and join us, 'hon." Rayne softly called over to the boy. She turned her eyes away for a time, glancing down to her daughter, who was still sprawled out over the little bench. Rayne extended her finger and poked her little girl in the tummy. "Come on, sit up! Let's share the bench for our new friend, okay?" Reluctantly, the toddler sat herself up. With some help from her mother, she re-positioned herself onto her mother's lap, allowing the rest of the bench to fall to the young boy to sit on. However, as she moved, Kisa kept her eyes on the strange boy.
Fenrir wondered, from within the soul of Rayne, whether or not Kisa stared out of instinctual mistrust or jealousy at the attention Rayne was giving this stranger. Either way, he echoed a chuckle in Rayne's mind playfully. Heheh... Very well. I'll trust your judgement, Rayne; but be careful. Rayne internally nodded her agreement, though it was primarily just to humor the fierce black wolf within her soul. She would never hold her guard up so defensively to a child. Now she'd just have to get the boy comfortable...

Almost like a deer caught by sight of headlights, Yukine’s eyes widened immediately the very moment that the woman called out to him.
Geez, why you getting so surprised for?
It was a simple and reasonable question from Asura, and one that Yukine was asking himself. He didn’t even really realize he was staring over at the girls until that voice called out to him. He found curiosity in staring at them. They had seemed so happy together and even so something was off about them that he just couldn’t tell. She called him hon, or at least that was he assumed since he was the only one who was around. Just what did hon mean? He wasn’t sure, but regardless she called him in a soft and friendly tone, by that logic he could only assume it wasn’t something bad.
The widened eyes slowly returned back to their stoic dull look, but suddenly his feet began to move, walking forward towards the woman who invited him over.
Oi, you’re not actually going to waste time with her are you?
Regardless of what was said the footsteps continued on walking towards the woman and the child. He was interested in these two and fatigue from the travelling and the cold temperature had also played a part in his decision. He continued to walk but suddenly stopped the moment he heard a sound of laughter. It was a sound only he could hear, a chuckle sounding from Asura.
How intriguing…how did I not see this earlier…good call my boy…ah but ignore me for now, continue on…
It was, odd to say the least, the sudden change of mind that Asura held was suspicious, but regardless Yukine chose to ignore the outburst of Asura for now. His mind now quiet, Yukine continued to walk on until he reached the bench. Once the boy reached the bench he glanced up at the woman before glancing back at the empty seat and finally took a seat beside the two. Silently he sat upon the bench, starring down towards the ground without looking towards the two girls. “Thank you” Yukine said softly and quietly. Walking around for so long in such a cold environment was just far too tiring. The Terran clothing he wore was just something that was not made for such environments.
Now that the woman had invited him over to sit was there something that he had to do in return? Yukine began to wonder this as he stared downwards, but soon enough his eyes caught the sight of the stolen bag of sweets and treats that Asura had stolen for him. Glancing up at the two, the young boy held up the bag of sweets for them to take, his red eyes staring at them calmly. From what he recalled, it was children who preferred the taste of sweets so this gift of his was mostly for the child sitting in her mother’s lap.

Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
The boy's wide-eyed expression was something Rayne hadn't been too surprised about. He seemed a tiny bit shy, which wasn't abnormal for young children. Rayne knew from experience that children often required a gentle touch, especially the less outgoing ones. She was thankful to see that he accepted her offer and slowly approached. It quickly eased the young mother's heart.
When he neared the bench, Kisa turned her head curiously at him. To her, his red eyes were very unusual, but interesting. It reminded her of Fenrir to an extent. His eyes were more of a brown red when he was protective, but still, she'd never really seen anyone else with eyes like his until now. Rayne, in contrast to her daughter, smiled at the boy as he glanced to her, before watching him look to the bench. "You can sit," Rayne softly reassured him. Kisa nodded, as she kept her eyes on the boy. "Yeah sit," the toddler spoke up quietly, but her words carried speed in them. She was a bit nervous, Rayne supposed, reaching her hand up to gently pat her daughter's hood.
The two girls watched him as he sat and turned his attention downward. There was something off about him, that was for sure. Fenrir had warned Rayne to be careful, but whatever was different with this boy, it didn't ring a dangerous vibe for Rayne or Kisa. He just seemed lost and confused. "You're welcome, 'hon." Rayne responded, looking him over. His manner of dress wasn't suitable for this place. It was far too chilly.
However, something did surprise Rayne. Silently, the boy reached down for something on his person, before producing it and seemingly offering it to the girls. Kisa immediately reached for it, but Rayne's quick intervention by pulling the toddler's arm away stopped her from snatching the whole bag. Rayne quietly giggled as her daughter looked up to her with a pout. "Thank you, 'hon, but it's too late for her to have sweets." She didn't mean to turn the boy's offer away, but it was true, Kisa would've been up all night if she had sweets now.
Though, of course, there was something Rayne was all too willing to offer this boy. She shifted her daughter onto one knee, reaching her hand around to unbutton the collar of her cloak. She pulled herself up from the bench and removed the lower half of her cloak from under her rear, before gently placing Kisa down on the ground to stand for a moment. Said toddler watched curiously. Rayne removed her cloak from her shoulders and gently placed it over the boy's shoulders. "Here, this should keep you warm." The collar itself was very furry and fluffy, providing excellent insulation for the wearer's neck, while the material of the cloak was soft and tightly knit, and while thin, little air flowed through it, keeping warmth inside. When she had finished, Rayne picked Kisa back up and sat down.
It was...odd, being without her cloak, but it would be much easier for Rayne to keep warm than this boy. Plus, as Rayne returned to comfort sitting, she placed her heels up on the edge of the bench, leaning back a bit into it, so she could lay Kisa down on her chest. It wasn't exactly a dignified position, but it allowed her to cuddle with the little girl and get herself a bit more warmth. Even if anyone walking past would be able to see her backside plain as day in her form fitting pants.
There was a question burning in Rayne, but she wasn't sure exactly how to ask. He seemed alone here, but outright asking about parents or some kind of guardian felt too personal. Delicacy would hopefully not fail her now. She eyed the boy from her awkward position on the bench. "By the way, I'm Rayne." The emerald hue of her eyes seemed to flash ever so gently in the dim light from the moon as the evening air began to settle over the town. She gestured to her daughter, who laid somewhat comfortably across her mother's chest, head coddled in the crook of her neck. "This is Kisa. What's your name?" Kisa shyly lifted her hand and waved to the boy. After taking a moment, Rayne inhaled softly, working up some nerve to ask the question burning within her. "Are...are your parents going to be here soon?"

His gift was something that seemed unnecessary at present and was turned down due to it being too late at present for the little girl to eat. To say the least Yukine couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed that his gift was not satisfactory. He lowered his arm once again and continued to sit with her, his sight returning back down, looking down at his boots. The two of them were very kind, the woman was friendly and the child looked a bit nervous but kind, just like her mother. She continued to call him hon, and though he still did not know what that meant, it seemed more and more likely that it was not something bad.
Suddenly the sound of shifting movement was heard and Yukine immediately glanced over at the woman as she begun to stand up and move towards him, removing the cloak that rested over her shoulders. He raised an eyebrow curious about what was going on, but his eyes widened as the woman placed the cloak around his shoulder. It wasn’t the warmed form of clothing, but it was still warm regardless. The sheer warmth was something that Yukine really needed and truly enjoyed. He realized that she was giving up her own warmth and he did not wish for that, but in a place like this he couldn’t really deny the warmth. Immediately he brought his legs up to the bench and pressed his knees to his chest. With his arms he covered himself with the cloak and closed his eyes with a sigh. “Thank you” Yukine said once again.
He could not understand why such a woman would take even notice to him and help him out like this. He was sure this was the first time he ever met them and they were surely strangers. He opened his eyes and stared over at the girl, watching her take a pretty strange, yet effective position. The woman and her child were very close and it seemed the two were able to adapt to weird situations quite well. The bonds of parent and daughter, it was nice. Staring down at her, he watched her introduce herself as well as introduce the child. It was only fitting that he also give her his name as well and when he was asked he was much willing to do so. “My name?...Yukine” Yukine said softly and meekly looking back downwards.
His eyes could only widen a bit, not having expected the next question that Rayne had to ask him. “Parents…” Yukine said softly. He thought back to the idea of parents and it just seemed to be a foreign concept to him. The closest thing he ever had to a parent was Garland, yet he could never see that man as a father. “I do not have parents” Yukine said quietly.

Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
Seeing how pleased the boy was with her cloak did wonders to ease her conscience, as she had briefly worried he might reject it or find it odd. As he thanked her, she giggled softly. "No need to thank me. I'd never let someone freeze like that." The young blonde began caressing her daughter's back to ease her tensions. The shy way she interacted needed to be dealt with. After all, Rayne wouldn't always be here to nurture her when she was around someone she didn't know...
Another ease of her worries came when the boy introduced himself. "Yukine?" Rayne echoed curiously, "That's a nice name. Not one I'm familiar with though." She had to confess, she'd never heard a name like that, even in her travels across different realms. It was unusual, but it had a nice, cute ring to it. "It suits you," she complimented. A cute name for a cute boy. "It's a cool name," Kisa shyly chimed in. Rayne chuckled softly into her daughter's hood. "It is."
It seemed the boy was warming up, both in temperature thanks to the cloak, and to Rayne and Kisa. Hopefully that would continue... He seemed like a sweet boy to Rayne. However, worry showed itself upon Rayne's brow, as it furled upon Yukine's mentioning of not having parents. Fenrir only released a 'hmph' from within Rayne's mind at learning that. As far as he was concerned, this boy was yet untrustworthy. Rayne, however, expressed concern. That's not...good... She turned a concerned expression to him. Kisa adjusted herself up, moving herself off of Rayne's chest and planting herself down next to Yukine.
She glanced up at him with her small, but ever-so-expressive forest green eyes. They glimmered with curiosity as well as concern. "You don't have a mama?" she blatantly asked, though her young tone was laden with a very naive sorrow. For Kisa, it was about imagining what her life would be like without Rayne... Rayne shifted herself up from her laid back position, adjusting to watch her daughter and Yukine with genuine interest. It was rare for Kisa to behave like this, so Rayne would take advantage of the moment to see how her daughter would---"You can share my mama."---...react. Rayne was quick to break out into nervous laughter. Her hand shot up to her long, silky blonde hair, twirling it nervously around her index finger.
"K-Kisa, sweetie---You shouldn't be so direct with p-people...!" Rayne's tone was a bit jittery; not out of fear or loathing of the idea, but more out of the nervousness of how the boy might react. That was the most worrying aspect of it. Knowing he had no parents, Rayne didn't want to let him go out alone again. She would never let herself get over it if he went out and something happened to him. Even though she had just barely learned the boy's name, she cared deeply. Her heart was one open to anyone and everyone, no matter how short the time she knew them. "Th-Though...I can probably, at least...help you out, 'hon." Rayne spoke up in reference to, perhaps, finances should he need it, and a place to eat if he were hungry. After all, she worked hard to convince that cranky dog to finance the building of her family's inn, the Safe Haven, and it was built for those who needed it most.
...Rayne. Touch him.
Once again, Fenrir urged her forward. A simple touch would be enough, but again, Rayne refused. No! She wouldn't do it for that reason. The stout, stubborn, good-hearted Rayne would not make contact with the sole purpose of allowing Fenrir to abuse his abilities. And though she knew it was only a matter of time until he got what he wanted anyway, she would not let him get it through her, not of her own free will. All he needed was one sample... A single touch, directly to his clothing, hair, skin, anything that had touched Yukine directly---Now Fenrir had realized, that was likely at least part of the reason why Rayne had refused the boy's offered candy earlier. If Fenrir's face were tangible, he'd likely have smirked at the impressive foresight Rayne showed.

She claimed that he did not have to thank her for what he did, but even so he felt the need to do so. He had nothing to give her, nothing at all, but all he could give her was his thanks for what she did. The Black Mages had attempted to teach him manners of the world and Yukine tried his best to not forget his teachings. It all seemed meaningless at times, but some of the reactions he would receive were satisfactory so they did seem to hold some meaning as well.
He was given quite the kind comments about his name and Yukine actually liked listening to them. He didn’t have much, but his name was one of the very few and precious things to Yukine. It was the name given to him and something that had given him an identity. He and the only genomes never had been given a name; their sheer existence was to be replaced and erased after all. The only genomes to have ever been given names were the angels of deaths and they had a purpose, unlike him and the others.
Names were nice to think about, but the sheer void of parents was something that bothered Yukine, making him wonder about them. Were they a necessity? Something that beings needed on the way towards happiness? True he had his sibling and the Black Mages he cared for, but that was different. Zidane had one who was like a dad and he seemed happy with them, was parents that important. The sorrow that Kisa sounded when she spoke about him not having a mother was something that only seemed to make Yukine question even more but something caught him off guard instantly.
She offered to share her own mother, was that even possible? Could somebody truly share one’s mother? His eyes widened in complete shock the moment he head Kisa’s offer and quickly looked up at Rayne with his bright red eyes. If it was possible, would that mean he would be able to experience what it was like to have a parent? He waited for a response, but that was far from long as he suddenly got a response from Rayne in what seemed to be some form of odd quiet laughter. She sounded nervous as she spoke to her daughter making Yukine wonder if Kisa’s offer was truly an impossibility and just the thoughts of a child. Perhaps it could have been a possibility but Rayne probably didn’t want him or perhaps it might have been just a bother. He slowly looked back down towards the ground once more.
He listened to her speak once more and he was soon given the option for aid from her if he ever desired it. “Thank you….but I…don’t want to be a trouble for you” Yukine said. He really appreciated what she did for him despite only just meeting, but he didn’t want her to go out of her way for his sake, he already felt guilty enough taking her cloak.
He looked back at Rayne and tilted his head slightly, looking at her curiously. “is something wrong?” Yukine asked looking at her with a bit of worry in the stoic eyes of Yukine, wondering if anything was troubling her.

Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
Unfortunately coinciding with Rayne's fears, the boy reacted poorly to Rayne's nervous reaction... Darn it! Rayne cursed herself mentally. She hadn't intended to upset the poor boy---She was worried he'd be upset by Kisa's offer. Unfortunately, he seemed more surprised by it than upset, leading Rayne to this whole giant flub... She tilted her head to one side a short distance as she looked at him.
Kisa spun her upper body around to look up at her mother. "Mama..." Even without her daughter elaborating, Rayne knew her mistake. She extended her hand to the boy, slowly, gently, warmly---Sliding her fingers over his lovely blonde hair to stroke his head. She knew this was ultimately giving Fenrir what he wanted, but the boy's feelings were more important. "We can't force him, sweetie," Rayne spoke as she glanced down to her daughter, a soft smile forming upon her lips, "He has to choose whether he wants someone to be his mother. But it's not a decision to be made lightly." She turned her softened eyes toward Yukine. "You can get to know us first, right?"
The boy was perceptive though, and certainly quite humble. When he brought up him 'being trouble', Rayne scoffed playfully. "You would never be a bother, 'hon. We'd love to help you." She raised her hand away from Yukine's hand and placed it halfway between herself and Yukine, pointing her index finger up toward the sky, before she waggled it back a forth a few times. "No buts! I insist." With that situation settled, Rayne returned her hand to her side, while her daughter returned her attention to Yukine. Now, she had begun to smile at the older boy much like her mother. In her young little mind, she'd already all but gotten herself a new sibling!
Rayne, however, could already tell Fenrir had gotten what he wanted... She could feel the magic working within her soul, though it be entirely hidden to the rest of the world. Fenrir used Rayne's contact with the boy to scan him, devouring the most insignificant parts of skin cells clinging to his hair, in order to learn all about him. It was an abuse of power, one which Rayne despised very much. It was, to her, the most egregious invasion of privacy one could ever possibly commit. I am sorely disappointed in you, Fen. I'll have no part in what you discover, and we will talk about this later. Fenrir could only release another 'hmph' toward Rayne.
It was then, Yukine proved himself more perceptive than Rayne had previously thought. "Is something wrong?" the boy had asked. For a moment, Rayne had to think. She could ramble on about the soul inside of her---Fenrir hated having people learn of him. The only people he showed himself for were those he considered family, and this boy was not his family. "I'm just..." Rayne had begun, stalling an instant as if she mentally put her sentence together as she spoke it, "I'm just worried about you, 'hon." Well, it certainly wasn't a lie, even if it wasn't the proper answer either. "Your clothes aren't proper for this weather... If the shops were open, I'd take you to get some warmer ones. But, how aboooout," Rayne raised her finger and tapped her chin thoughtfully, but clearly only playing an innocent act, as she had intended to say this all along, "I take you with me and buy you some nice clothes later? I'll even get a warm, tasty meal in your tummy!"

Ever since he had gotten to the world he felt lost, alone, wondering whether leaving was the right choice. Even with Asura sticking by his side this loneliness did not really diminish. It was an odd feeling, was this feeling what caused fear? Was this why everybody tend to stick to groups. He was always with somebody and even when he was alone there was always somebody close by. It was such a foreign concept, but being with Rayne and Kisa changed this for him.
His eyes closed the very moment he felt the woman’s fingers touched the top of his hair and began to stroke it. This feeling, he could not understand why, but it felt nice to him, it felt comforting. It reminded him of the care of his siblings and it truly showed that this woman cared enough for him like them. Perhaps this woman probably wouldn’t mind being a mother and perhaps choosing a parent was more voluntary than he believed, but she had brought up a good point that Yukine thought of. A parent was something important and merely choosing her was a hasty choice especially since he had only just met her. Understanding, he gave her a nod before she pulled her hand back from his hair, causing him to open his eyes and look at her.
He still felt a bit guilty and though he would have probably said something about this it seemed any argument was considered void as Rayne shut off any protests making what she said final. He still looked at them, noticing the shy girl had also seemed to of gotten used to his presence as well. Though he did not smile, his stoic eyes softened, reflecting his enjoyment of the two’s presence with him. He wasn’t quite sure about what she said about and he found it odd there was such a pause for such a simple answer, but at the same time he chose to ignore it. What was more curious than that was the fact that the very soul resting in himself was silent, leaving not a murmur or witty remark. Just what was that man planning? He wondered but his mind was more focused on what Rayne had to say.
Listening to her speak, his eyes widened slightly, only this time it wasn’t in sheer shock like the numerous others, more like a child finding something unexpected but interesting. Immediately Yukine nodded “Yes, I would like that!” Yukine said a bit more energetic than before, his tail that was once hidden underneath his cloak freeing itself and wiggled a tad as it rested behind. His mission from Asura was to find new clothing and he treated it like a true mission. It was as if the woman read his mind and learned of his mission even though his need of clothing was pretty obvious.

(I'll start the fireworks next post if you don't want to with your next. ) Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
Rayne found pleasure in the way the boy seemed to enjoy how she stroked her hand over his hair. It was comforting to know that she had that certain affect; that motherly touch, even though she was so young an inexperienced. Inwardly, she thought that perhaps that touch stemmed from the heart, and not simply age or experience... But either way, she had to withhold her grin, lest it explode outward and lead into victorious laughter.
Once the boy had sounded his pleasure for the idea of going shopping at a later time, Rayne felt immense relief wash over her and ease her mind. She grinned nearly from ear to ear. "Good! We'll get you some great clothes!" Rayne was positively beaming by now. This had gone from rocky to outright fantastic, and it did so incredibly fast, even despite Fenrir's little abuse earlier! With a little more work, she'd have the boy warmed up to her rightly in no time! Then they'd see about the parent situation... But for now, she needed to focus.
As Yukine shifted his gaze about, back and forth, to this and that, Rayne was always careful to try and look at them. This young boy didn't speak much, and though he did carry a certain unperturbed air about him, she noticed that his eyes often expressed what his words and actions did not. That would be an important thing to watch for. "You have very unique and beautiful eyes," Rayne commented with a soft smile. Kisa nodded her approval, raising her head up to try and look more closely into them. "Like Edfin's eyes!" Kisa had flubbed, her young mind naively mixing up and mispronouncing both of Fenrir's names, combining them into but a single one. Rayne chuckled lightly as she reached her arms around Kisa's waist and picked the toddler up. For a moment, Kisa attempted to struggle, not wanting to leave her position so close to her all-but-already big brother, but ceased squirming when Rayne scooted closer to the boy. "Yes, they're a lot like Edward's eyes." Rayne spoke up as she placed Kisa comfortably on her lap, but kept her right arm wrapped around the girl so as to gently squeeze her against her chest for warmth.
Rayne's slim, soft face formed upon it a much more calm, content smile than previously. She turned her eyes upward, to the sky pointed above the buildings just on the other side of the town center, as the sound of a gong rang out over the now-calming crowds of people. "It's almost time," Rayne whispered to Kisa and Yukine both. After her words, she quietly and carefully wrapped her left arm around Yukine, to her left, and squeezed him closer, while simultaneously trying to raise him up a bit by shifting him up more onto her hip. "Let's get you a better view, 'hon." The long-haired maiden explained her motives for what she did, as she knew it would be a little more difficult for him to see the fireworks from this angle at his height.
Though, as she settled her arm around his lower half, she felt something beneath the cloak... Something wriggling. Wh...What is this...? Her answer came fast, and from none other than Fenrir. A tail. The Dark Wolf stated matter-of-factly. All things considered, Rayne handled it...well. A t-...tail, huh? Well that is---It's...not that big of a d-detail... Though it did definitely confirm that the boy was not of this world. She had been here before, and if there was one thing she learned during that time, it's that people here were normal, traditional humans, like the ones from her own home world. They didn't have tails. All in all, it was hardly an important detail, it simply surprised the young mother. It was nothing to fret over!
"The fireworks are going to start soon. After we watch them, I'll take you with me, okay Yukine?" Rayne turned her head downward to look at the boy, as her right arm adjusted in order to raise Kisa up. She was much shorter than Yukine, so Rayne had to almost put her on her shoulder in order to get her a nice view of the sure-to-be-incredible fireworks show. All in all, this night was shaping up to be quite a pleasure. Her soft, content smile radiated even in the dim lights. It was infectious to most people, as was her indomitable spirit and love for helping anyone and everyone. Though Fenrir often scolded her on these traits, him knowing better than anyone that such indiscriminate kindness and affection was as much a weakness as they are a strength. After all, he had abused that kindness himself, once upon a time...

Yukine was truly lucky to have met both Rayne and Kisa in this strange world. Though he was separated from his home and could not say how to return to it, Yukine was happy to of done it and been able to meet such kind people. It was things like this that only fueled his desire to travel. He would be able to learn about others and see different sights that he could have never seen in Gaia. It was odd to feel such affection for two that he had only just met, something that was difficult to explain really.
She seemed so assuring about getting clothing for him that Yukine was pretty confident that he would gain something of use. He was one that did not really know much about clothing, only wearing things that did their job, but even so Asura was just too adamant about it that he had to go along and get something nice. He was complemented about his eyes and though he really did not know who Edfin or Edward was Yukine still found it a nice compliment. Though it was nice, he could not really accept such compliments as they did not belong to him. No these praise of the crimson eyes did not belong to Yukine but instead belonged to-
My my my, I’m starting to like this girl…she has good taste…
…him.
A response from Asura was something unexpected really. After being quiet for so long Yukine had almost forgotten about the soul that rested in his body. Asura was usually called upon for his wisdom, but he almost felt as if he could have gotten his answers from Rayne instead. Asura would be around him almost all his life, but he wasn’t sure how long he would be around Rayne. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be around her, no, it was far opposite really.
A bit surprised by the sudden feeling of touch, Yukine glanced over at Rayne as she held him. “Fireworks?” Yukine said softy as wondered just what she meant by these fireworks. Such a thing sounded quite dangerous, but at the same time it seemed that it would have been something that was perhaps something intriguing to watch. Maybe that was why there were so many people roaming around the streets. Perhaps they were all gathering in order to see just what these fireworks were.

Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
Kisa bounced faintly from her high-held position, eagerly staring into the sky over the buildings across the way. She'd heard many, many times how wonderful fireworks were. How beautiful. Everyone from her Mama to her Auntie to her Nana told her of the wonder of fireworks, but she'd never seen any before! The excitement was UNBEARABLE! Her hood flopped down, revealing her own blonde hair to the rest of the world, though it was more sandy than Rayne's shimmering honey-esque hair, and was held back in two long, very loose ponytails at either end of the back of her head. It was easy to notice how unbelievably long her hair was for a toddler so young---Normally it would take upwards of 3 or 4 years for a child to grow hair like Kisa's, but the girl inherited very wonderful genes from the Riser side of the family.
As clearly evidenced by her mother's incredibly beautiful hair, and her aunt's, and her grandmother's. The Riser women were well-known for their beauty and eye-catching hair, though rarely ever had they been noticed for...sensible interests. Cerus, Rayne's mother, in her youth was obsessed with combat and war, studious of all things combative. Rayne herself was, as always, utterly obsessed with machines and machinations. Meanwhile, the young sister, Maya, took to the most unusual forms of art. Unlike common 'ladies at court,' though they were never nobles, Maya preferred the acting form of art to dancing or music. Each woman of the Risers, further back than even Cerus, had even more strange hobbies. They were a noteworthy family, but hardly for the proper reasons...
But that was something Rayne never gave thought to. She was happy with whom she had become. She was happy to be the woman, sitting here with her daughter, and a new friend whom she had to admit, she wished to give a home to. If she could go back and do it all over, there were no doubts in her mind that she'd do it the same every time. When Yukine made a quiet, soft inquiry regarding fireworks, Rayne flashed a more energetic smile. "You're going to love them. Just keep your eyes over this way." She dipped her head forward faintly, signaling the boy's attention to where she looked. Most of what made watching fireworks so beautiful, at least for Rayne, was who you watched them with. Though her mother, sister, and step-father couldn't make it tonight, she had her daughter and Yukine to watch them with. It made it a worthwhile time and some lovely memories. Even Fenrir, though not physically present, would be able to enjoy them.
Once Rayne settled herself with Yukine and Kisa, who had not settled her own self, the loud crack of a firework being launched resounded over the sky. "There!" Rayne called, barely able to spot it rising against the deep blue, star speckled night sky. As it rose higher and higher, it eventually culminated in a large explosion of colorful lights! This one was a sky blue, which then faded into a red color as the sparkles began to die down. Then, one after another, more cracked and launched skyward. Red, white, green, purple, yellow---Every color one could imagine began to display themselves in the sky, one after another. Some faded into different colors, others exploded larger, and some went farther up than others. Kisa beamed and laughed, clapping her small hands together at the site. It was truly magnificent!
"Yay!" the little girl called once or twice, amidst the oohs and the awes of the crowds gathered in the center of town. All had their eyes focused on the beautiful display in the sky above. "They're so beautiful!" Rayne's mouth curved into an open grin. She smiled a lot, but rarely ever did she smile so openly. It was hard not to, with how jaw-dropping the show turned out to be. Rayne couldn't resist loosing a few lyrics... "Where are you going? Where do you go?" Rayne quietly began to sing; even in lower volume, her voice sounded like that of an angel. It was gentle, smooth, but it held a mighty power to inspire those who heard it. It had always seemed to bring peace to those around her, something she was grateful for. "Are you looking for answers, to questions under the stars?" Her eyes shifted away from the fireworks for a split second, glancing down to Yukine meaningfully, before turning them back up; "Well if along the way, you have grown weary... You can rest with me until a brighter day, you're okay." Her voice came so confidently, reassuringly, and her genuine feelings could be felt from within it. Kisa hardly paid them much attention, but somehow the words to her mother's song reached her, causing her joy to grow even more.
Sadly, like all good things, the show had begun to die down and come to an end. It didn't go quietly, however! In one final hurrah, a slew of fireworks all launched in a faster flurry, each one exploding in even more bright, dominant colors, bathing those in attendance in a beautiful light unlike any other. Once they had all safely died down, Rayne allowed Kisa to slip down her torso and land safely on her feet, on the ground. Meanwhile, she gently replaced Yukine upon the bench, letting him sit without interruption once again. Kisa, even now, couldn't seem to cease bouncing. "It was pretty!" the girl shouted! Clearly her excitement had yet to die down. Rayne sat forward, extending an arm around her daughter's shoulder and reeling her in for a gentle hug. "It sure was, sweetie!" Rayne released her daughter and let her bounce around the bench for a time.
Though the crowds began to disperse, taking part in other scattered festivities around town, Rayne remained. She turned her attention to Yukine, her open grin having faded away into a once again content, soft smile. She extended her hand, once again gently running her fingers through the boy's hair. "What about you? Did you enjoy the show, 'hon?" Rayne spoke softly.

Kisa was quite excited to witness these so called fireworks and if the two of them were so interested in such a thing than his initial thought of what they were surely must have been wrong. From his imagination he believed these fire works were a battle that took place in the skies. People flying forth and battling for supremacy with the power of fire, this was what Yukine had truly believed what these fire works were. Even if it wasn’t such an event just what was it that made it so amazing that it made Kisa so happy and Rayne wish to see them?
Rayne assured him that they were going to be amazing and Yukine chose to trust her and her judgement of this event, his curiosity at a pretty high height. Suddenly there was as sudden cracking sound that echoed and almost made Yukine jump in surprise. The boy watched as a thin stream of fire shot up. Was this what a firework was? For a single second he believed it was unimpressive, but in that second there was a burst of color that instantly made the boy’s eyes widen in amazement, his jaw opening slightly due to the scenery that had appeared before him.
The colors were only a fleeting thing, disappearing quite quickly and instantly which made him kind of sad that it was over, but such a feeling lasted only for a bit as more explosions appeared in the sky, this time in numerous different colors. He could not say anything, only staring upwards in surprise and amazement. Kisa had basically said what he would say as it truly was a beautiful sight. Through the loud and powerful explosions a gentle sound could also be heard as well. It was a beautiful sound, fitting to the beautiful sight that Yukine witnessed.
He listened to Rayne sing on, but chose not to look at her for now as the sight of the fireworks was just far too beautiful for him to really take his eyes off. It was such a beautiful moment that Yukine would never forget. He thought back to Zidane and Mikoto and begun to think about the two, wondering if those two would have truly enjoyed such a scene that he was witnessing right now. The fireworks would soon come to an end, but the very end was truly a magnificent one that Yukine was just amazed to watch.
He felt himself being set upon the bench once more, but even so Yukine was still staring up at the empty sky, still totally memorized by the scene that he had seen. He could not get the feeling that the fireworks brought out yet, it was far too early for him to do that. Kisa was excited, but the stoic boy was silent, not as physically excited as the boy couldn’t really express himself as well. Though he couldn’t show it, it was an amazing sight for him.
He suddenly felt the feeling of fingers run through his hair and he turned his sight from the sky and looked over at Rayne as she asked him what he thought about the sight. With such a question something that Yukine had never truly really done appeared upon his face. The boy stared at her with his red eyes before suddenly closed them and tilted his head slightly as his lips moved and for the first time formed a small smile. “It was amazing” Yukine said.

(Hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of having Rayne kinda drag him along. I didn't think you were planning on having Yukine up and leave, so XD) Rayne Regen Riser | Kisa Regen Riser
Though he spoke so few words, Rayne had no trouble understanding him for the most part. His eyes spoke volumes that his mouth would not, though that was proven a bit incorrect, as Rayne spied something upon his face that he had not yet displayed to her; a smile. Such an innocent little thing---a smile. It was something often disregarded by others as unimportant, but for Rayne, the smile of a child was truly precious. Theirs were the most pure of all.
"I'm glad you liked it," Rayne spoke softly, her hand still absently brushing through the young boy's hair, as she smiled back at him. Her gentle, emerald eyes took in his precious smile with care and compassion, adapting each and every facet of it into her memory forever. Tonight was undoubtedly one of the best of her life. After brushing his hair a few times more, Rayne slowly retracted her hand, instead reaching it out toward Kisa, who was still running circles around the bench. Rayne caught the little girl, who squeed her joy and giggled heartily. Rayne pulled her up into her right arm, pulling the girl's hood back up and encasing her long, sandy blonde hair once more.
With a single, hefty exhale, Rayne rose from the bench. She glanced around the center as best she could from their out of the way position, before turning to Yukine and offering her hand. "Come on, let's get something to eat before the trip. My treat." Rayne let out a soft chuckle. "Heehee... And I mean real food, not just sweets," she thought back on the little bag Yukine had offered before. Eating healthy was important for a growing boy.
After securing the boy's hand, Rayne gently lead him to a stall she had spied earlier. It wasn't too far away, thankfully, and the way to it was relatively clear of passersby. The stall in question was nothing more than a small wooden table with a awning over it, but atop that table were several little brown boxes. As Rayne drew closer, her nose began to pick up a very delectable scent. As they neared and Kisa began to smell it as well, her stomach growled against Rayne's side, where she was held up by the woman. Rayne looked to her daughter and smiled. "I'm hungry too, sweetie!" Kisa flashed a shy grin at her mother from under her hood.
Finally having arrived, Rayne smiled kindly at the short elderly woman across the little mercantile table. As Rayne recalled, the people of this world spoke a very unique language... Thankfully she had her bronze bracelet on. When Rayne opened her mouth to speak up to the elderly woman, the words that came forth from her mouth were not the common tongue, but the language more commonly spoken by the denizens of this world. "I smelled the pork. It must be delicious." The elderly woman cracked a smile, which admittedly did show off some rather aged teeth... "Thank you, dear. We have both pork and chicken." The stranger turned her attention to Kisa, who shied her face away from the elderly woman, and then down to Yukine. After taking in the sights of both, she turned her eyes back up to Rayne.
"You seem so young... Please, take one of the boxes, free of charge. I insist! The left ones are pork, the right ones are chicken." Upon hearing the woman's words, Rayne smiled gratefully. "Thank you kindly. I'll pay for the other two though, hehe." After thanking the woman, Rayne let Yukine's hand drop so that she could reach into her tight left coat pocket, producing a small brown bag that jingled when she pulled it forth. She set it down on the table, where the elderly woman picked it up and bowed her head in thanks. Rayne, too, bowed her head, though more to turn her attention to Yukine.
"Pick whichever one you want, 'hon. The boxes on the left side have pork and the boxes on the right have chicken." She explained, as she doubted the boy understood the conversation she just had with the elderly woman. It wasn't uncommon for people to speak the common languages here, but she liked to speak with them in a language they felt more comfortable with. Rayne herself grabbed on from each side, before handing them up to Kisa to hold within her little arms. Once that was settled, Rayne extended her hand to take Yukine's once again, before starting off for their bench out of the way again. Rayne quickly seated herself once more, releasing Yukine's hand when she had and setting Kisa down beside her.
"Let's see what we have here..." Rayne muttered as she took one of the boxes she had given to Kisa earlier and placed it upon her lap. With her slender fingers, Rayne gently pulled the top off of the box, revealing the contents within. Since she had grabbed the pork one, as Kisa preferred chicken, Rayne unveiled roasted pork with a very scrumptious looking, spicy yet tangy sauce over boiled white rice, topped off with a few fresh vegetables crammed in the sides of the box. The scent wafted worth, trickling into Rayne's nose and causing her stomach to growl almost immediately, and embarrassingly loudly. "Oh, gosh... It looks so good and it smells divine!" Rayne reached into the small bag attached to her belt, producing several plastic forks from it. She was never good with this world's chopsticks.
Meanwhile, Kisa had already pulled the lid from her box, which was about the same thing as her mother's only substituting the pork for chicken. Rayne handed her one of the forks and watched her daughter go to town on it. Rayne glanced to Yukine and smiled, extending her hand to offer the young boy one of the remaining two forks in her hand. "Let's dig in. I'm starving!" Rayne beamed with a gentle excitement, speaking volumes of the anticipation she felt for digging into her own meal. Once they were done eating, she'd be off, Yukine in tow.
