Radiant Garden….he had been there for a while now after visiting the Academy, a place where he had been reunited with old friends, but also had met some new people that he thought with work would not be bad allies to have. For the moment, he had formed an alliance with the Academy’s director Hope and had become a member more or less of the place. He had agreed to help them, do their work when asked, but when he had spare time, he focused all of his energy on searching for a way to deal with the Void and get himself back from the twisted creature. He was no longer worried about work since the Academy, Twilight Town, and his new home Traverse Town had plenty to give him. While he was still uncertain of his purpose, he no longer had a reason to wonder aimlessly in search of answers now that he had begun to root himself firmly in certain places and now had more ways than one to access information that alone, he could never hope to find. With the resources at the Academy at his back, one would think the calm warrior would be spending his time using said resources to find what he was looking for, but instead he was walking with determined steps towards a particular place in town. A place he knew he could get in trouble for tampering with, but one he could not help going to.
The place in question belonged to a group known as the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee and was actually the remains of some sort of lab that supposedly held many secrets. Deshi had learned of the labs by going through some files on the computer back at the Academy as he was learning about the Academy itself. On a whim, or rather the Void’s whim, he had unconsciously typed in the search bar Darkness and Light to see what he could find. Since the Academy’s computers and owner were outsiders, he did not expect to find a clearer explanation than the one Felix had given him back at the mansion, so he was not shock when the computer directed him to multiple files on the subject that talked about the natural occurrences of it. Disappointed, he had thought to go back to learning about the Academy, but once more the Void would not allow him to do as he pleased.
“I be looking for something too. Lost in data it may be. You…you will come with me. Like it or not,” the Void told him as he tried to resist the urge to type. Taken off guard by such an odd comment, Deshi’s defenses slipped and the Void was able to take over just long enough to begin its own search through the files. For whatever reason, the Void seemed to be looking for other worlds with computers or data collecting centers. For the most part the computer didn’t know what the Void was talking about much to the creature’s frustration, but it kept searching away with Deshi watching from the background of his mind.
Eventually through all the digging, he had stumbled across a file called the HBRC and out curiosity clicked on it only to get a small line of print mentioning the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee and their computer. The Void tried to find more information on the group, but only could find that they were some group that was helping rebuild the town. Okay, so that was their job and the Academy was doing its own thing to help the worlds. No problem. He continued to search through the files until he finally stumbled upon one that said there was a computer connected to said group, but no one outside of the Committee could get into it.
“Is that so….” Deshi whispered as the Void released him and he did his best to find a map of the city and the location of said computer. It was an easy fine as it seemed that someone connected to the Academy might’ve already been there. Carefully, Deshi mapped the route to where he needed to go to memory and then nodding closed out the files and shutdown the computer he was using as he pushed away from the desk he was at and began to head out for the front of the Academy with a focus in mind.
“Oh, you actually be willingly going along with my plan? Why?” the Void question him, amused and curious.
“Because like you I am searching for something,” Deshi muttered back as he made his way down the halls and towards the front doors. The Void chuckled.
“Still trying to win? You should give up already. I have already won on both fronts. You cannot possibly defeat us now,” the Void shot back, maliciously.
“We’ll see about that,” Deshi said as determination filled him. He was going to find a way to put the Void in its place and if this computer system that Committee owned had even the slightest clue to give him. He was going to find it.
Sometime later, Deshi had found the building he had been looking for and entered it with no problem. There was no security to stop him and surprisingly no one inside. He moved through the building with ease taking note of the disorder within as he walked. He found a room with a picture of a man dressed in white with long white hair, dark skin, and golden eyes that reminded him of a Heartless. He didn’t know why the man made him uneasy, but he did. Marking the face in his memory, he explored the room until he found the entrance to the lab hidden below and after following the pathways of the strange, high tech area he found the computer he was searching for. As he stepped into the room listening to the hum of the machinery, he took notice of a funny looking machine pointing in the direction of the screen. It wasn’t a direct pointing, but it was angled in such a way that Deshi wondered if perhaps this machine was a security device that activated if someone tried to intrude. At the moment, it was hanging limply on its holder pointing at the ground. Hmm…he’d have to keep an eye on that. While it had not done anything to him yet, it might end up attacking him once he started messing with the computer. He had to admit that this idea was a bit risky on a number of levels, but if this computer held more data than the one at the Academy then perhaps he had a fighting chance to figure out what the Void was after while taking another step towards defeating it. The Void found his thoughts amusing and laughed at them, but he would win.
Focusing once more on his task, he moved towards the large computer and clicked a few buttons to get the screen to wake up, having to turn his back on the strange device for a moment. As the screen flickered on and he hit a few more buttons, he paused and looked back at the device to see if it was doing anything strange in reaction to his actions. Still and calm as before. Perhaps it was broken, then? Turning back to the computer, he began to type again, carefully poking around files the computer let him in until he eventually came up against a brick wall. The file he clicked had a password protection of some sort. Deshi frowned at the message box not completely understanding what it meant. While he easily figured out how to work the computer from messing around with the one at the Academy, he had no clue how they worked internally or how to get around the wall known as a password. What he did know is that if you typed in the password wrong a few times, the system would lock you out as he had learned from the Academy. He had to get Hope to let him back in again, so he could do his research; however, this was not the Academy.
No, this building belonged to another group entirely and technically he was trespassing and trying to stealing information from said group’s computer. Now up until now, he had been lucky not to be caught or set off any alarms or what not, so coming across the password barrier made him worry a bit. If he guessed the password and it was wrong what would happen then? Would he set off alarms or be attacked by that strange machine behind him? Maybe it would be better to quite now and try to befriend said group to get access instead of sneaking as he was now. Hmmm, on that note how would he work around not letting the Committee know he already knew about the computer? He wasn’t exactly good at telling a lie, having been straightforward and honest with people his whole life. So… What to do now?
Deshi continued to ponder his options as he looked at the screen not really taking in what he saw. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he did not hear the device behind him rev up nor did he hear it move as it took aim at him until it was too late.
The sound of the laser shooting was heard a second before the warrior was hit in the back by something that sent a strange tingling sensation through him and caused him to tilt forward as if he was going to fall; however, he did not crash into the computer as expected. No instead, he feel through darkness until he landed on something solid that almost knocked the wind out of him. Dazed and confused, the warrior remained blind and paralyzed for a few moments as his body was reconfigured to the new world he was in. His normal flowy white clothing vanished and became a black suit that clung to him like a second skin, but the suit was padded and lightly armored. The last thing to appear on him was a strange disc that once it was set into place sent a slight jolt through him as what appeared to be memories flashed through his mind in vivid color, disorienting him a bit more. Once the images were gone, the darkness lifted from his eyes and he was able to move again.
Deshi slowly got to his feet and looked around the area he was in taking note that everything here was dark in color, but lit by a variety of lights that seemed to be the buildings’ and surroundings’ power source. He could tell by looking that this place was a city, but for the most part it seemed empty. Was this then perhaps like that empty world where he had met the girl Olette then? He looked around a bit more, taking note of the building with a sign that read “Flynn’s” on it and also noticed he was in the middle of an intersection of some sort. He had four ways he could go, but as large and sprawling this place was he wasn’t sure just where to go looking for the information he sought. Maybe this world despite how similar it was to that empty world was not the same. It certainly didn’t feel familiar. Where was here, then? And had the laser brought him to him here? His mind wondered as he turned his eyes from his surroundings and focused on himself and his new look.
The black outfit lined with lights seemed to be some sort of uniform that made him wonder if perhaps this new place was a prison for him since he had tampered with the computer. Or was this just another world? If so why had this one changed him? No other world he had entered had done this before. What made this one different? Strange. His attention moved from the oddness of the place and his appearance to his left wrist. Seeing that his bracelet was still there, he flicked his hand outward to see if he could summon his blade. With ease it appeared, although like himself it had been altered. The blade was now black with neon lights creating the flowers and vines that decorated the blade. Outside of that, the weight and way it could be used had not changed. Good. He dismissed his weapon as another thought came to his mind. If this was a punishment of some sort, why was he left with his weapon? Was he expected to fight for his life then? Or perhaps if this were a world it held danger in it? Hmmm…this was becoming confusing and standing here trying to guess what was going on wasn’t helping clear up the matter. So exploring time it was.
The white haired warrior looked around once more before deciding to take the right path of the intersection. He began to move down the quiet path to begin his search for people or information in this very odd place he been brought to. He wondered if there was a way out since the laser had brought him here. Could he Corridor out or was he truly stuck for once in his life?
