The spiky-haired Delivery Boy wasn't too sure how he thought about this woman. For being a Keybarer yet also wielding a power so Dark, it was somewhat confusing. Was she truly someone who brandished the Keyblade in the name of good, or evil? Granted that he had never crossed paths with this woman before in his life, at least as far as he remembered, he would have thought he'd heard stories from maybe Sora, Donald, Goofy or anyone else that travelled from world to world. So why had this woman never been mentioned to him before? Where had she come from? What was she doing here? Why did she have such strong powers of Dark yet did not use them to corrupt worlds or people living in said worlds? How did she obtain such fighting skills to be able to stand up to some of the SOLDIER's stronger attacks? Well, that one was easily answered straight away; She is a Keybarer. So how many Keybarer's were there and did they all posses such strength? Sora did, sure, and he knew his friend Riku did too. Now there was this winged woman who made three. Each felt like they were easily on his own level, perhaps higher. The last thing the Delivery Boy needed was a possible Keybarer possessing the same strength as Sephiroth, to battle him in a more serious situation then what they were currently in.
Cloud winced as he felt the surprise attack of his Back Blade get parried with the Keyblade his opponent wielded. A sting in his chest growing greater with every breath that filled his lungs. What was wrong with him? He felt a cold sweat form on his forehead as he raised his Back Blade and jumped backwards a couple feet, holding the blade up at an angle so 'Artemis' first strike parried and slid away from his body. Holding the Fusion Sword behind him, ready to strike back, Cloud turned his body away from the winged woman so his left side was facing her, to which he used his left hand only to parry away her second horizontal strike. He was nervous around that weapon now that he had this painful sting in his chest from being struck by it. He had to show as little of his body to her as he could until he were able to counter attack. Seeing that the momentum of his opponent's second attack caused her to turn around, Cloud questioned swinging his right arm over his head to try and use speed to strike her before she'd able to continue her combo, but by time he thought about it, he'd already missed his chance.
He should have expected what came next. Perhaps his reactions were slowed from whatever was wrong with his body, or perhaps his time spent in peace back on Gaia had made his body rusty and his strength weaken. Whatever the case, a sharp pain shot through the side of Cloud's waist causing him to jump backwards in surprise and glance down at his body, noticing that a new fresh cut had been sliced into him. This one was deeper then the attack across his chest and was bleeding more steadily. Fortunately, this one wasn't stinging with the same pain as his first wound, but the Delivery Boy cursed through clenched teeth for not paying attention to his opponent. Stupid! Why didn't you move Cloud?! The SOLDIER's eyes narrowed dangerously when his opponent came in for her 'X' shaped attack. Forgetting that this was supposed to be a friendly sparring match, Cloud slammed the Back Blade back into the Fusion Sword and swung the massive blade over his head to block both the Keybarer's keyblades at the same time, holding his blade vertically against both her crossed ones. Cloud pushed forth hard, his strength filling his arms as he locked eyes and blades with the woman before him.
”Bad move.”
A bright blue aura suddenly covered the young man as he pushed forth with greatly increased strength, when all the blades of his Fusion Sword suddenly ejected from the main blade, breaking the weapon deadlock and flying out to hover around the winged Keybarer. Releasing his Omnislash Version 5 attack, Cloud darted off to his right and took hold of one of the smaller blades, before he zipped in and sliced hard across 'Artemis' back. He then flew off to catch a second blade and returned swiftly to deliver a second hard strike across 'Artemis' front. Repeating this three more times for the remaining smaller swords, the First Class SOLDIER then shot up high into the air before taking hold of the main blade, to which he plummeted down upon the winged woman and released a powerful blow that should knock her hard into the floor if it were to connect. The Delivery Boy landed upon his feet with a thud, the blue aura fiery aura covering him dissipating into the floor as he stood upright. Glancing skywards, he raised his right hand and caught the handle of the main blade as it fell down towards him. Each of the remaining five smaller blades falling around him in a circle.
Strife then collapsed down onto one knee as he coughed violently, his free hand clutching at his chest over his first wound. A drop of blood fell down onto the arena floor below, which blurred eyes struggled to focus on. Then a second drop. As the third fell, Strife brought his left hand down and allowed the drop to land in his gloved palm. Bringing it up to his face, the young man first sniffed the blood then dipped his tongue into it. Suddenly alarmed, Strife spat the blood out to his side and then glanced up to see where his opponent had gone, his face darkened, full of anger. ]”P-poison?! You've... poisoned me?!” Coughing again, Cloud pushed himself back up onto his feet where he wobbled slightly, before slowly raising up his left arm into the air, his right still gripped the handle of the main blade. A soft, soothing green glow shone from his left forearm as he begun casting a spell. It wasn't a particularly powerful one, which resulted in it being cast quickly. A warm green glow enveloped Cloud as he cast Cure upon himself, the wound on his side not fully closing, but stopped bleeding at least. Most noticeable though, was the sting in his chest has gone away and Cloud found himself able to breath more easily now.

The reason that Cloud had never heard of her was because she deliberately kept herself hidden for a good majority of her life. The dark keybearer only fought when she needed to and trained when she was absolutely alone. Ten years was more than enough time to hone her skills and learn new tricks in order to claw her way up to the level where she was now presently. Although Selena had never been born with her wings or even knew how to wield her darkness and keyblade as she did now, her Heart's Blood had always been present but her skill at that young age was less than proficient. Her seemingly sudden appearance with her current strength and power would be overwhelming to anyone who had not been expecting it and to be fighting her for the first time. This was the glorious result of staying under the radar. Her reasons for world jumping as well as keeping her power under wraps remained her own. She didn't fight to pull the worlds under darkness or under her control. It was pointless for her to accomplish either of those goals. She proceeded through desperate measures to ensure her survival, changing her name so no one could connect Selena to Artemis, and jumping world to world so no one would even be aware she had even existed. The dark keybearer killed Heartless so she can live. Surviving, staying alive, wasn't living but Selena wanted to live to see her Hope Village and her sister again. She did not believe anyone would need or want to know her little sob story. It is possible that 'Artemis' had made a mistake by accepting this spar that had almost immediately escalated into a battle. So much for holding back which is seemingly impossible for her now that the two warriors had both stepped up their plates. She could see that her second slash had connected with his body but the sense that this fight had gone long enough was enough wasn't reaching her. Cloud caught both her blades with both of his own before she could finish her last attack. Her eyes stared back but her focus, although is one the fight, also remained on what she had been doing her life; survive. After the SOLDIER pushed her back, the dark keybearer staggered backward and readjusted her balance just in time for the first slash to connect with her back then the second crosses her abdomen. She grimaced Her defense then transformed into a dance. 'Artemis' eyes had caught on where the third blade will strike from Cloud's movements alone and twirled around to block it with the Heartsickness. She repeated with the Nostalgic Harvester when her front was again in danger. This patterned repeated with the remaining two times before the dark keybearer looked up. She tried to block the blow with both of her blades but it knocked her to the ground as her knees collapsed underneath her, the Nostalgic Harvester flew away from her grip, landing not far from her where it remained, and the Heartsickness still held tightly in her hand. The winged woman landed on her back. Now that the battle is seemingly over, the pain from the strikes that had connected to her body is acknowledged and nearly overwhelms her. Gasping sharp, heavy breathes, 'Artemis' tightly squeezed her eyes shut to drown it out. Her back is a sensitive area, due to her wings, and due to that reasoning, her weak spot that she tried to look out for. The winged warrior barely heard Cloud's accusation. "Not...Not intentionally. I-I did not expect you to take that hit. My keyblade's special ability is poison and it would have worn off in a few moments because it's deadly for Heartless, not human." answered the dark keybearer as she rolled onto her stomach, causing her to grimace even more. Gritting her teeth, she test flaps both of her wings which both clumsily did without any lack of ice-hot pain from her back. Both wings fell limp, flat on the arena floor. 'Artemis' couldn't see the severity of the cut across her back where it was too close to the base of her left wing. The SOLDIER was not the only one who did not come out fully unscathed from this fight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Abilities/Weapons Used List: Dual-Wield: Selena is now able to passively wield two keyblades instead of one. [Passive] - Nostalgic Harvester
A scythe-like keyblade in which it reeks of the Darkness, it has a long reach and wide range. It excels in dark magick and grants higher damage when using dark magick Also, yes that is supposed to be a human spine.

Taking several deep breaths, feeling his lungs expand within his chest without bring accompanied by an ever increase sting, certainly felt good. It would seem that the minor cure spell he had cast upon himself worked mostly on removing the poison that was within his body. Curious to say the least, for any user of magic or wielder of Materia would know that an Esuna spell or perhaps a Poisona would have been needed to remove poison from a person. That or an antidote. Whatever the reasoning behind it, Cloud didn't care. His chest felt clean and healthy and that's all that mattered. Couldn't say the same about the wound on the left side of his abdomen or the slash across the middle of his chest, but those were minor things in comparison to being poisoned. What a dangerous weapon this winged woman clutched. The left hand of the Delivery Boy rose up from his side and leather bound fingers pressed against the wound he received from the Nostalgic Harvester Keyblade. Why did that thing look like Death's scythe? Thankfully it seemed it lacked any hidden abilities linked to the Grim Reaper, for the spiky-haired youth yet lived and wasn't laying on the ground in a similar position to his sparring partner.
Mako-blue eyes looked over the woman who lady upon the ground, upon her back, and took notice of the wound he had caused her across her stomach. The young woman was wearing a top that revealed a large portion of her midriff, so seeing the injury wasn't difficult. Plus the look on her face and the fact that she wasn't standing up, were too signs that she was hurt. Did their spar get out of hand and turn into an actual battle? One would have to agree, seeing as both the warriors in the Coliseum were injured. Glancing about himself, turning on the spot to examine each of the small swords that made up Fusion Sword, Cloud frowned to himself and dropped the main blade, which clattered against the stone floor a handful of times before coming to a rest. ”Don't move... I'll go fetch some of the water from the fountains here. Stay still.” The Delivery Boy didn't wait for a reply and even if there was one, he ignored it. Leather boots carried the young man to the edge of the raised fighting area which he stepped down, before heading off towards the waiting areas usually restricted to staff and entrees of the Games or a Tournament.
Only a couple of minutes passed before the sound of the large wooden doors were heard opening and closing once more, as Strife made his way back across the Arena to where the winged woman now lay on her stomach. Now he could see the real reason for why the young woman had remained laying down. The wound on her back didn't look any deeper then the one she took to the front, but it was the position of the cut that seemed to be giving her trouble. Cloud's pants rustled as he crouched down beside 'Artemis', where he carefully extended his right arm, a small stone cup used with the fountains in his grip. ”... Here, careful not to spill it.” Pushing himself back up to his feet, the young man walked across the arena to where the 'Grim Reaper's' Keyblade lay. Bending down and picking it up, the SOLDIER First Class looked the weapon over a couple of times, much the same way Leon did to Sora's Kingdom Key. ”To think these things hold so much power...” Heading back over to to opponent, Strife placed the weapon down beside her, the key chain rattling against the stone floor as it settled.
”I am impressed though... I wasn't expecting you to be so skilled... Though your style is not like Sora's. Are you self taught?” Cloud asked as he walked to each of his swords and picked them all, returning them all back to the main blade, where he slotted them all back together. With Fusion Sword complete, the SOLDIER held the blade out in one arm and looked the weapon over, closing his eyes and nodding his head to it. He was a Living Legacy and he would continue to honour and respect his old friend by growing stronger and using his strength to protect Gaia from all threats. Then with a flash of light from the Delivery Boy's hand, the large blade vanished into thin air. Slowly the blonde-haired youth returned to 'Artemis'' side and he crouched down, looking her over once more and wondering if she actually drank the waters he fetched her. ”I have to apologise for letting out spar get out of hand... Are you feeling better?"

'Artemis' had initially trained herself to become a dangerous warrior to contend with. Although the dark keybearer physically wore no sort of armor, the one that she built upon her own Heart had made it almost impossible for her to create similar bonds that Sora was able to easily create upon first meeting and onward. No given her life choices and her way of living, the winged warrior could not afford to trust every single stranger living among the numerous worlds in the universe. That choice of living without bonds had wavered several times but certain events accomplished of her Heart holding tighter to that resolution.
She slowly moved her free arm and adjusted her current position. 'Artemis' manages cover the wound across her stomach with just her forearm and apply some pressure to it as well as attempt to keep it clean from any particles in the arena. The dark keybearer had not heard Cloud left much less return due to inattention to her surroundings. She was currently gathering up her armor to mask away the agony from her face and attempt to sit up at the very least. After one failed attempt, she then noticed the sound of footsteps toward her and glanced over to see the SOLDIER crouching down next to her with what appeared to be a stone cup with what appeared to be water, more specifically from one of the healing fountains.
The winged woman slowly took the cup that was handed to her and stared down at the liquid inside the stone cup. Her untrusting eyes searched for anything that could hint that the SOLDIER was looking to return the poison effect that her Heartsickness keyblade had given him seemingly minutes earlier. She did not see any residue or any unnatural tint to the liquid. It didn't smell like anything particular either. The last indicator for poison would be taste and the dark keybearer was unsure if that risk was worth taking.
'Artemis' did not notice that Cloud had walked over to where the Nostalgic Harvester laid and barely noticed that he was returning with her keyblade in hand just by recognizing the sound of the key chain rattling. She could have done it herself by calling it over but it was simply too late and the keyblade was placed down beside her. The winged woman looked up at him in regards to the inquiry. There was that name again. Sora. Why was she being compared to Sora when they are completely different people with the only possible shared characteristic is that they wielded the same weapon? "Yes, I taught myself." She answered quietly, sitting up with a grunt and a grimace, and watch him pick up the parts of his Fusion Sword. "Yeah. I'm fine." The lie came out way to casual, too easy. 'Artemis' did not even take a sip from the cup of water and the wounds across her back and her stomach would give away her lie.

The Arena has once more fallen into silence, bar the subtle sound of what appeared to be wolf-like creatures fighting something, somewhere else in the Coliseum. There was no sounds of panic and Phil nor anyone else had come running in asking for help, to whatever the sounds were, probably wasn't anything to worry about. Phil knew that the Delivery Boy spent a lot of his time here and the Satyr knew where to find him if something happened to crop up. Unless Hercules was around of course. Other then that, the sound of sand crunching underfoot came from Cloud as he turned about and cast his eyes down upon the figure of the winged woman, having heard her moving to sit herself up. The grimace didn't do unheard and he could still see the wound on her stomach that he had given her earlier on. That meant, obviously by seeing it in her hand, that she had yet to drink the waters of the healing fountain yet. Strife frowned and brought his right hand up from his side, pointing to the waters that the woman called 'Artemis' held. ”Drink the water... His voice was stoic but soft, eyes glowing in the moonlight that now shone from above.
Seemed that time has passed quicker then the fake-SOLDIER had thought during their match, to which he recalled the side effect of the female's Keyblade. His right hand lowered from pointing to the healing water and instead his fingers lightly traced the wound across his chest, remembering the feeling of having her poison within him. ”... I haven't poisoned the water. I have none on me nor do I have the desire to do such a thing. I won't be able to get stronger sparring with a Keybarer if she's dead.” Cloud explained and gave a shrug of his shoulders. He wasn't the best with words usually, but at least he tried to convince the young woman that the waters she held were safe. At the end of the day though, the decision was hers to make and Cloud wouldn't force her to drink it if she didn't wish to. Leaving wounds to heal naturally was a good way of building up resistance to being attacked, the only trouble with that was it tended to keep you out of action for too long, depending on the severity of the wound.
The question he asked of whether the winged women was self taught or nor, caused images of a young man with messy brown hair to appear within his thoughts. Denzel was always keen to learn how to fight so he could protect those he loved. He had lost his birth parents and always blamed himself for that. Having nearly lost Tifa to Bahamut SIN and Cloud himself to Sephiroth, Denzel was spurred on to get as strong as the fake-SOLDIER First Class. It caused a small smile to appear on Strife's lips and the thought of teaching him a few things started to grow appealing, but there would be time for that later on. So long as Cloud could still hold his Fusion Sword, he would continue to fight for what he believed in and for those he loved. A sigh escaped his lips, audible for the winged woman to hear. Strife's eyes were staring off towards the stands where the audience would sit for the Tournament and Games, though while nothing was there aside from the stone seats, Cloud could see the slender figure of a beautiful young woman with long brown hair and the most gorgeous smile you could ever hope to see. I'll come see you soon... Just wait a little longer for me...
Slowly blinking his eyes, Cloud looked away and glanced back at the Keybarer nearby. ”You have real skill for someone self trained... If you drink that healing water, perhaps we can squeeze in one more spar before we part ways?” Cloud offered as he walked up towards the winged Keybarer and extended his right arm, his gloved hand open and offering to help her back up onto her feet. ”I don't feel as strong as I used to be a couple years back... I need to regain my strength if I am to keep fighting in the long run...” The subtle sounds of the wolf-like creatures coming from else where in the Coliseum continued to be heard over the silence of the near-empty Arena. It was enough to distract the Delivery Boy, causing him to look away from the young woman and glance off towards the main wooden doors that lead to the lobby. The wind blew past gently, his blonde spikes dancing softly across his eyes within the breeze.

The woman knew the howls in the distance well. They were her wolves and her comrades in arms when summoned. How could she not have their song scarred into her memory? One wolf had been with her ever since she had gotten off of her Hope Village. The other wolf, while still very young, had earned her trust long ago. Selena knew that they would not come into the Coliseum unannounced or without reason while they knew she was still practicing her techniques. Both of them knew better and were likely already preoccupied with taking care of the Heartless outside of the Coliseum walls.
'Artemis' looked up at the swordsman when he saw through her lie and told her to drink the 'healing' water from the cup she held. Despite the tone of voice and his later explanation as of why he did not poison the water, she still did not trust the water. She did not want to be dead and would prefer that she didn't ironically die from oison. The dark keybearer needed to survive for the long road that's ahead of her.
The winged woman only perked up at the possibility of one last spar for the night but only if she drinks the healing waters in the cup in her hand. The expression on her face would completely give away her excitement at getting another round in even if it meant drinking a possible poison. Her childish excitement should have raised flags inside her mind that getting anxious over having another battle shouldn't be a thing, not even a good thing, at all. But it didn't. Selena just wanted to fight and that alone should be scaring her. It was easy to forget that Selena was still very young, an adult according to the number of years since her birth, but someone who has no memory of a normal life even before the Heartless came to her home-world."Thank you.
There was no hesitation as 'Artemis' took the cup and drank the contents. If the healing waters turned out to be poison, here's to hoping that the poison will have near-invisible effects to her health and will take a long time before it decided to kick her to the curb. But for now, she felt fine, the wounds have healed itself and she can breath again now that the cut near the base of her wing was healed. The dark keybearer stared at the extended hand in front of her before taking it to pull herself up. 'Artemis' summons both of her keyblades to her hands after tossing the cup toward where her cloak laid. It didn't take long for her to catch that her wolves had caught the SOLDIER's attention.
"They're not going to come in here. They know better." answered the dark keybearer, stretching out her wings and testing them to see if there was lasting damage or if her wing was still sore from getting almost cut off. "Don't get distracted by a couple of wolves now or else you might get swallowed whole."

There was a lot of this winged woman sitting before him, that reminded the young man of himself. The main similarity between the Delivery Boy and the female Keybarer, was a lack of trust. Cloud didn't trust many people but there was a small group he did have complete faith in. This woman didn't trust Strife because of the whole fiasco with the healing waters being poisoned. It was healthy to have a 'don't trust anybody' attitude, but such an attitude would result in you being a very lonely person. Cloud found himself watching this winged woman for a lot longer then he had wanted, taking in her appearance, her body language and even taking note of the way she looked back at him. She was alone. She had nobody to turn to for help, for advice, for comfort or reassurance. It made the spiky blonde-haired young man feel rather sad actually. Cloud had always put up a hard front, being mysterious and enigmatic and keeping everyone as far away from him as he could. Only when his travels across Gaia with his friends, did he come to learn that he wasn't alone. People cared for him, looked out for him... some of them even loved him.
Closing his eyes, the fake-SOLDIER watched as two figures appeared before him in his thoughts, though when he reopened his eyes, he saw the figures standing either side of the black-winged woman before him. A girl in a pink dress with brown hair on one side and a young woman in dark clothes and long black hair on the other. Tifa... Aerith... I know I'm not alone any more... But that didn't help matters that he knew how this 'Artemis' felt. Perhaps she didn't notice it herself, maybe she did have friends that he was simply unaware of, but she reminded him so much of himself it was hard to see anything otherwise. Was she trying to get stronger too? Did she have something worth fighting for? Her duty as a Keybarer was to defeat the Heartless and to save the worlds from Darkness, correct? That was what Sora was doing at least. Cloud blinked his eyes, those cold, glowing eyes and both Aerith and Tifa vanished from beside the 'black angel'. Raising his head, watching as the young woman drank the healing waters and accepted his hand in getting back to her feet, Cloud asked the question within the back of his mind.
”So what are you fighting for?”
Leather boots crunched in the light coating of sand that covered the hard stone floor of the arena, as the Delivery Boy took a few paces backwards away from the woman with the black wings. The proposal of a second spar seemed to excite 'Artemis' and Cloud was all for another match against an opponent as powerful as this. He could use all the training he could get right now. ”Me? I'm fighting for my family. My friends. Those I love. I fight to make sure they all wake up in the morning and don't have to worry about dying or being hungry or suffering. I fight so I can see the smiles on their faces when I return home. I fight because there aren't many others who can stand up to the threat that the Heartless bring, that the Darkness brings. I fight, because I must fight.” Cloud's eyes shone bright as he spoke those words, his determination and courage shining through his voice, his body language matching as he brought his right hand up before him and clenched it into a tight fist, the leather of his glove creaking as it tightened about his fist. His raised fist was then thrown out to his right hand side, a flash of light summoning his Fusion Sword back into his grip, the muscles in his arm visible tensing as it caught the blade's weight.
The mentioning of the wolves belonging to the winged woman and that they'd not interrupt their fight was good news to know, also, interesting news at that. Perhaps the Delivery Boy was mistaken about this young woman if she had friends in the form of wolves. A quick glance down at the wolf symbol on the belts that held his shoulder guard in place caused a small smirk to appear on Strife's lips. Wolves were loyal animals indeed. Though the words that the young woman spoke to him caused his head to raise and his left brow to follow. ”Big words for someone who was laying nearly incapacitated only a few minutes ago. Think you can back them up? You won't hit me with that poisoned blade a second time.” Cloud pulled Fusion Sword up beside him, holding the blade up vertically in both his hands as he flexed his knees, lowering himself down a fraction and setting himself up, ready to pounce as if he were a wolf himself. He hated fighting, but fighting was the best way he could express himself. Let's see what would happen during Round Two.

The winged woman had noticed the long stare and raises a brow in silent question. She wasn't sure if the stare had been intentional or not. It felt unnerving as if the SOLDIER had noticed something deeply wrong that 'Artemis' failed to notice. Her eyes glanced around. Her wolves had not decided to try surprise and sneak behind her. They weren't even inside the Coliseum walls; their howls in the distance told her this. Just why was he looking at her as if there was someone else there beside or behind her?
After 'Artemis' was helped up to her feet, she stretched her wings. Now that the wound that once had given her so much trouble due to its position was no transformed to a mere scratch, it no longer gave her any more trouble in regards to moving it. The question of whether or not that the dark keybearer would be able to fly again was hardly significant now than it was minutes earlier. The Heartsickness and Nostalgic Harvester returned to the palms of her hands. A sense of relief washed over her when the Heartsickness' cold hilt met her grip. For ten long years, this blade had stayed by her side and came whenever she needed it; it was likely that she wouldn't have survived for a decade, much less a year, without it.
She merely glanced at Cloud when the inquiry was asked. Her reasoning as to why she is fighting? Did he meant this spar, their previous spar, or something else entirely? Either way, the dark keybearer already knew why she needed to keep going, to keep running and hidden while tirelessly searching the whole universe for one small world among the hundreds, thousands of others. Selena had thrown away realistic expectations for the lonely purpose chained to her Heart; it was really all Heart had left. 'Artemis' chose to answer his question with silence as The SOLDIER listed off his own reasons to fight. It was for her to know and others to figure out if they should to.
A smirk graced her features as 'Artemis' turned to face Cloud. "Doesn't mean that you'll be able to hit me again with that technique now that I can read it. I was holding back the whole time." answered the Nightmare, watching the SOLDIER get ready for their rematch. He looked ridiculous, just what kind of stance was that supposed to be? "What are you doing?" asked the dark keybearer, deadpanned.

The howling of the wolves in the distance was once more the only sound to grace the Coliseum, echoing in shadows around the outskirts of the mighty arena. They must have been patrolling the perimeter or maybe chasing away Heartless looking to sneak into the Coliseum. Useful companions to have really. So long as they stayed away from the section of the arena in which both the Delivery Boy and the winged woman stood. A one on one fight with a Keybarer was challenge enough. There wasn't any need to summon in pets or companions to help out. Speaking of which, Cloud had left all his Summon materia back home on Gaia. He didn't really need it any more after the victory over Sephiroth and Deepground. Even so, it must have been nice to have someone, or something to talk to on your travels. Cloud travelled alone with only the thoughts of those he loved to keep him company. Danger followed Cloud. He had to stay away from hs family to keep them safe. Sephiroth was an eternal monster that would return again and again. Strife didn't know when next the silver-haired SOLDIER would rise from the grave, but the further he was from Tifa, Denzel and Marlene when it happened, the better.
No answer came to his question about what it was the winged woman fought for. She must have had a reason. Everyone had a reason for picking up their weapons. Perhaps it was different for a Keybarer. Perhaps the reason was as simple as fighting the Heartless. The Keyblade chooses it's wielder after all. What if you didn't want the responsibility? Well, perhaps the Keyblade would not choose one it did not feel was worthy enough to take the responsibility. So what made this winged woman, this 'Artemis' a cut above the rest? What power or strength did she have that made a keyblade pick her over the next person? The more the Delivery Boy thought about it, the more he started to understand why Sephiroth was so determined to figure out everything there as to know about the mythical weapons. ”Do you not have a reason for fighting, or is it obvious, being a Keybarer?” Cloud asked after the silence that followed his own reasoning for fighting every day. Again he waited to see if she'd answer his question. Was it too personal a question? Did they not know each other well enough to have such information shared?
Strife blinked when hearing the winged woman's comment about what he was doing. Was something on his face? Looking down at himself, he wondered what it might have been that she was suggesting, but all of a sudden, the chocobo-haired youth wondered if this was a trick, a tactic to get him to lower his eyes so she could get the first strike in. In theory it had worked, but the young man wasn't about to leave himself wide open if such a strategy was to the girl's thinking. Without hesitating, Cloud's knees flexed further, lowering his body down closer to the ground. He then leaned forwards, pulling Fusion Sword down so it was parallel to the ground, followed by his body becoming parallel. That was when his head flicked up and he gave an almighty push with his legs. It only took a second, perhaps less for him to suddenly unleash his Sonic Blade attack. Instantly Strife had darted past the winged woman's left hand side in a flash of light, Fusion Sword swinging fast to try and strike the left of her stomach, a burnt trail of light scorching the ground following the path he had travelled. There was half a second pause before the chocobo-haired SOLDIER made a second pass, zipping past her left hand side again and striking as he did so, aiming the second blow for the same spot.
Three more times Cloud would repeat this attack, a flash of light erupting him his person each time he passed the winged woman. The first four hits were all aimed for her stomach area, two of the left and two on the right. The final blow, the fifth pass, was not a pass at all. Instead the Delivery Boy flexed his knees and jumped up into the air over his sparring partner, his blade pointed down towards the ground. When he fell, he plunged the blade down hard, stabbing it down into the ground so half the blade was buried beneath the arena. Hopefully the black-haired woman whom he thought was going to take him by surprise, would not be underneath him when this happened. Already Cloud had forgot that this was only a spar, a training match. There was nothing serious about it. But there was that thought lurking in the back of his mind, that should he take just one blow of that accursed Keyblade, that a poison would be coursing through his veins, attacking him from the inside. You'd have to forgive him for being a little jumpy.

Silence had always been a contributor to curiosity and simply eggs it on until satisfaction should come. 'Artemis' had forgotten this when she did not answer the SOLDIER's inquiry on her reasons for continuing to fight as she did. For him to question whether or not her reason should be obvious to him, or perhaps to anyone else, was discomforting. "My reasons are my own." The dark keybearer answered, having hoped that answer would be enough. She also forgotten about the usefulness of the art of disarming the opponent, failing to realize that she could have attacked seconds after her last inquiry about his stance, and did nothing to take advantage of it.
Her pale eyes studied Cloud's movements. Within moments, the dark keybearer was ready to defend herself and parries the first strike with the faithful Heartsickness. Finding her rhythm, she uses her momentum to pivot to her left in time to parry the next strike with her Nostalgic Harvester. The light Cloud emitted didn't appear to have fazed her at all. She remained put and uses both of her blades, switching between during each strike, until Cloud's final strike where she leaped away. 'Artemis' smirked.
The dark keybearer had been speaking the truth when she had told the SOLDIER that she had been holding back during their previous spar. However the fact that Cloud was once again going all-out against her was as plain to see as the wings on her back. To continue holding back as per instructions from Phil just did not seem fair to 'Artemis' as every inch of her very being wanted to go all-out to ensure her survival. The idea of keeping the element of surprise still intrigued her and reined her in. Did she really want to reveal all of her bag of tricks before the supposed sparring match was even over? In quick succession, she casts Dark Blizzard with Nostalgic Harvester right before Dark Blizzara with the Heartsickness at the SOLDIER's legs in the hopes to slow him down. "Chill out, Cloud. This is still a spar and I'm sure neither of us wish to die tonight."

Fortunately for Cloud, the winged woman known as 'Artemis' was successfully able to evade all five of his strikes. Watching her leap away from his downwards stab into the ground, Strife's blonde spikes shifting before his eyes due to the vibrations he sent through his body from the impact. His glowing eyes caught sight of her smirk as she landed from her dodge and he felt a sudden thrill of excitement run through his body. There was something about facing off against a Keybarer that was just so different to every other possible opponent there was. With an exception for Sephiroth of course. Fighting him was a constant struggle for survival. One tiny mistake could lead to you loosing an arm or perhaps even your life itself. Keybarer's were different. Their weapons were used to seal the Keyholes of worlds and to defeat the Heartless, not to slash peoples arms and legs off or indeed, end a human life. Cloud blinked. Sure, you could use a Keyblade as a type of mace and just bludgeon your foe to the end, but regardless as how daft some of the Keyblades looked, they were incredibly graceful weapons, requiring huge amounts of skill to use.
That's what I think anyway... Sure, 'Artemis' says she's self taught, so perhaps she did swing it around as a club to begin with... Unless being a Keybarer just... 'unlocks' the heart of the warrior within you and bestows you with skill? The young man tilted his head a fraction as he pushed down with his legs, standing back up straight and tugging Fusion Sword out of the ground along with him. Just in time too, for the air before him grew cold quickly and the bright flashes and twinkles of water glimmering through icicles was warning that a spell was heading straight for him... though... it looked much darker then usual. A blackened ice spell? What is that? Cloud thought and immediately decided that he wanted nothing to do with it. Cloud begun to drop down to his left knee, followed quickly with a hard push of his right foot. Bringing his arms before him, he clutched onto the Fusion Sword and rolled over to the left, the icy chill of 'Artemis' spell snagging his right shoulder, freezing the sleeve he worn to cover his right arm. A loud tear was heard quickly as Strife dropped his left hand from Fusion's Sword handle and tore the sleeve off his attire before the material could freeze to his skin.
The massive Buster Sword was then brought up before the Delivery Boy in both hands before being stabbed down into the ground, the flat of the blade between himself and the winged Keybarer. Using the weapon as a make-shift tower shield, Strife hid behind the weapon as the second ice spell sent his way crashed into it. Not realizing that the second spell was a more powerful version of the first, the fake-SOLDIER wasn't expecting half of the spell to wrap around his blade, slamming into either side of his exposed torso thanks to having both hands wrapped about Fusion Sword's handle. ”Aaaah!” He hissed through clenched teeth as he felt the spell freezing his body. He didn't move and decided to take what remained of the rest of the spell as it partially froze him to the spot. His ribs hurt and breathing was difficult thanks to his body being half solid from the ice. The effect didn't last long and soon Strife found himself able to stand back up and breath normally again. The persistent icy sting in his ribs didn't go away though. Only now did Strife's eyes widen a fraction when he heard the words his sparring partner spoke out to him.
Just a spar? Of course this is just a spar... Why? Am I too rough on her? Cloud coughed and winced for a second, his right hand falling from the handle of Fusion Sword and moving to clutch at the right side of his ribs. Standing up straight he watched the winged woman for a while, not saying anything to her. Her stance... it looked... hungry. Hungry for a good fight. Was she holding back? Of course she's holding back... This is a spar... a friendly match to poke each others skills... See what each other is capable of. There's no wager, no shame is losing... Slowly Cloud glanced down at his left hand, still holding onto Fusion Sword's handle and he frowned at the ice still layering his glove. A soft grunt escaped his lips as Cloud removed his hand and shook the ice off of him. Slowly his glowing eyes flicking as he returned his attention onto 'Artemis'. ”... Of course... Sorry.” A subtle clank of metal sounded as Strife took hold of his weapon's handle, holding it out to his side at arm's length, blade down. The weapon shone brightly for a second before all five blades besides the Main Blade ejected themselves into the arena floor. This made the Fusion Sword much lighter, but the lack of weight gave it's blade less sharpness upon impact. It was still a dangerous weapon... Just not as dangerous now.
Giving the new Main Blade a test swing, his arm seemed not to move, but it clearly had due to the weapon now being held across his left shoulder. A second swing returned the weapon to being held out at his right hand side at arm's length. ”When you first took hold of your Keyblade... How did you fight with it? How did you use it?” Strife's voice was full of curiosity as he asked his question, taking a few slow steps towards the young woman before him. After closing the gap a little and moving away from the rest of his sword, Cloud took up his blade in both hands and held the weapon before him casually, but his eyes flashed with focus and concentration as he watched the Keybarer before him to make the next move. This was a spar. There was no need to go all out on her. Still, he could see how badly she wanted to fight. When was she going to be the one to forget that this was only a sparring match?

'Artemis' had no idea how fascinating or unique her role as a keybearer truly was. Of course this was a given due to her initial intent of remaining out of sight and undetected while she traveled for the past decade. As far as this dark keybearer knew, the Heartsickness and now the Nostalgic Harvester were simply one of a kind and they still were; there were no other weapons like them. The fact that these two keyblades chose her told her something about the value of her own existence.
She watched her spells fly toward their target and had expected Cloud to dodge her first Dark Blizzard spell and raises a brow when he ripped the sleeve off until realizing that the fabric was frozen. The dark keybearer was momentarily surprised when the second spell, Dark Blizzara hit him almost fully. "You weren't kidding when you claimed that you were rusty." 'Artemis' remarked, tilting her head to one side to study the frozen SOLDIER. She had not expected an apology for forgetting that this match was merely a spar either and had meant her earlier comment as a reminder.
The keybearer had been speaking the truth when she had told the SOLDIER that she had been holding back during their previous spar and fully intended to keep it that way. However, she was still pushing against the limits against the 'spar' barrier as if to see if there were any weaknesses or an opening to the full-on battle. 'Artemis' did not need to reveal the true extent of her own dark abilities. At least, not yet. Cautious eyes watched the Fusion Sword eject the other pieces of itself onto the arena floor until Cloud had only the main blade. A lighter blade and faster swing now that the others are temporarily disposed of. She realized momentarily.
A brow rose at the inquiry. "I suppose I first started using my blade as any other sword-user. Hack, slash, possible impalement a time or two."She replied, amused that Cloud would be interested in a little of her history. Perhaps now is the time to turn the tide on the supposed interrogation against the SOLDIER. "What about you? Did you fall over the first time you've wielded that blade similar to how you faked it earlier in our previous spar due to it's weight alone? Her voice hinted that 'Artemis' was enjoying this chance to not only switch up the questioning but to egg him on to attacking her. Was he an impulsive fighter who lets his temper get the best of him and lose complete focus? Or a fighter who can shake it off and focus? Somewhere in-between perhaps? She'll know the answer in a few moments.
[Sorry for the lateness of the reply!!]

There was little movement between the pair of them now that Cloud had ejected the other five swords that made up the Fusion Sword. He was waiting for the winged woman before him to make the next move, where he'd try and use his increased agility to evade and counter. But she wasn't moving, she must have quickly caught on to the young man's little tactic and was going to stand her ground much the same as the Delivery Boy was. That was fine, for it gave the young man a little breather so he could recover some of his stamina used when performing his last attack upon the black-haired woman. Plus his arms and chest still stung from the ice spell and the short break in the spar was helping him warm back up slowly. Not as fast as if he were under the midday sun, but it was good enough. Glowing eyes took note that the woman before him was still dual wielding her Keyblades, which wasn't as big of a problem now that Cloud had shed a fair bit of weight, but having a side blade in his left hand and the main blade in his right would make him a little more comfortable. No, it was fine. So long as he focused on the Heartsickness and avoided blows from that at all costs, he'd be fine.
As 'Artemis' explained how she first started to use her Keyblade, the chocobo-haired youth raised an eyebrow when the weapon was compared to a sword. It shouldn't have come across as that much of a surprise, seeing as how the young woman was currently holding them both and how she had attacked with them in their previous spar. That was all the info she decided to share though and left Cloud to wonder if her talent was learned over a length of time or if the Keyblade gave her such skills the moment she picked the weapon up. Interesting... He mused as he returned his mako-infused eyes from her Keyblades and back onto her face, watching her carefully but still seeing no desire or hint that she was going to make the next move. Thus their little stand-off continued. Not in silence though, as if a battle of will power was being played out. No, the winged woman had her own questions and the Delivery Boy tilted his head a fraction at them.
A small smile appeared on the fake-SOLDIER's lips as he chuckled ever so softly. ”No, I've been able to use weapons of this size and weight for as long as I can remember.” He smiled to himself as he remembered the time Zack entrusted Cloud with the Buster Sword, passing on his legacy. He used that very blade to defeat Sephiroth before one of his deliveries across Gaia found him stumbling across the Fusion Sword. ”Sure, there are other blades out there where more finesse and grace is required, but I just prefer something that can end a fight before it begins. Some of my opponents have fled at the sight of the Fusion Sword.” The fake-SOLDIER brought his main blade up and held the weapon out before him in one hand, pointing the twin tips in 'Artemis'' direction. “Besides, I saw the surprise in your eyes when we first sparred together. Even if you saw through my little charade, you weren't expecting me to be able to move so quickly with such a large weapon, were you? I can go toe-to-toe with some of the most skilled katana wielders out there. The size and weight of the Fusion Sword isn't a factor to me.” Of course the Delivery Boy was hinting at Sephiroth just then, but he figured the winged woman would be clueless as to who that was if he had spoke his name, much the same way she didn't seem to know who Sora was whenever his name had been spoken.

It appeared that although it began as a round two sparring match, the night may just end with just the two of them prying information from each other. Selena had done her best leaving as much little information as she can, but it did not mean that she wasn't prone to slip up or that she could do the same. It may have taken a turn for information grabbing but this was still a spar. The dark keybearer kept herself on high guard for this reason.
She listened as Cloud gave his answer to her earlier inquiry about how he learned to wield his weapon or how to fight in general and glanced between the blade and the SOLDIER that stood in front of her in disbelief. Selena could not imagine starting out with a blade as bulky and heavy-looking as a budding warrior. There was no absolute way that Cloud was able to pick up that blade when he was a mere child. The dark keybearer imagined that there could have been so many upper-strength exercises to endure for long years before anyone could lift that blade up, much less wield it as if it were light as a feather!
A smirk graced her features as the SOLDIER called her out on seeing through his charade and her underestimation on his attack speed and chuckled. "You caught me there. Selena admitted, not catching the meaning and reference of katana wielders. Katanas are formidable weapons especially when their wielders are just as graceful and precise as the blades themselves. " You were correct in your assumption that I did not believe that blade was...the correct weight for you to be wielding that would prove to be a disadvantage during our spar. Good to know that some things can still be proven wrong."
Selena made no move to continue their earlier spar. Instead, she closed her eyes and listened to her wolves sing in the night. It was more accurately to say it was dawn as tints of twilight were hitting the dark canvas of the sky and successfully hiding away the stars. Perhaps it was time to put away their weapons and call it whatever's left of this night.

The Delivery Boy smirked as he heard the words his opponent spoke. She had confirmed his own words from before regarding the weight of the Fusion Sword and how he tried to act as if the weapon was too heavy for him. Sure, she sure through that little gimmick, but was still caught by surprise at Cloud's actual speed when handling such a large blade. Now that the young man had ejected five of the blades that made the Fusion Sword, Cloud knew that 'Artemis' guard would be even stronger then before, she'd be much more alert, she'd be ready for anything that he was about to dish out. It made a spark of excitement rush down the SOLDIER's spine at the very thought. This wasn't the same 'Artemis' he sparred only a few minutes ago. It wasn't perhaps an 'Artemis' who was ready to show her true strength just yet, but this was a spar at the end of the day... or the beginning of the morning perhaps. The woman with the black wings had said this herself. But Cloud wondered if there was a way to provoke that power out of her. He was curiously. Perhaps dangerously so. He had fought powerful opponents before and he wanted to know just how good a Keybarer this young woman was. How did she rate to Sora?
Hearing the wolves howling in the distance caused the black-haired woman before him to close her eyes, as he assumed she was listening to them. Cloud felt the muscles in his legs twitch as he wanted to launch himself forth and attack while his opponent had taken her eyes off him of. But he remember how high her guard was and doing such a thing might lead him straight into a trap of hers. No, that would be foolish. Instead Cloud shifted his weight, slowly sliding one of his legs to the side that caused the sound of the sand underfoot to scrape against the solid arena floor underneath. With any luck that might cause the woman calling herself 'Artemis' to reopen her eyes and look back towards him. If not, then Cloud had that covered too. ”... Do you mind if I try something?” He spoke up, asking his question. His own stance loosened slightly as he stood more upright and got out of his fighting stance, lowering the Main Blade down to his side as he brought his left arm up and ran his gloved fingers through his spiky blonde hair.
The Delivery Boy gave the winged female a small smile as he placed the tip of the Main Blade down onto the ground and rested his forearm across the hilt of the blade. His left hand dropped back down to his side where it relaxed for the time being. ”I've been working on a new ability of sorts and I want to see how well it works. This is a spar after all and thus the perfect place for me to try it, over using it in a real battle.” The metallic clank of Cloud pulling the Main Blade out of the ground was heard, before he started to take a couple of steps towards 'Artemis' until he felt he was close enough. There was still a few feet between them, but the winged woman was still out of Cloud's attack range. He didn't want to get too close, after all, he didn't know how this was going to turn out. But that was what practise was for and this particular attack could not be performed on a training dummy or thin air. No, it needed a living, breathing opponent.
Slowly picking the Main Blade up, Cloud held the weapon upright before him. Pressing his forehead against the flat side of the blade, the young man entered a calm and relaxed stance. There was no malice coming off of him, no desire to fight or to hurt anyone. His breathing was controlled and calm, almost as if he were asleep. With his eyes closed, the SOLDIER First Class remained in this position for a couple of seconds, using only his ears to listen out for any moment from the young woman before him. After a couple of seconds had passed, Cloud quickly brought his head away from the Main Blade, twisting the weapon about so the bladed edges faced both himself and 'Artemis'. At the same time, Cloud's eyes snapped open and flashed brightly as he sent a glare so piercing and ferocious that it would freeze the oceans in the middle of summer. It was the Delivery Boy's Intimidate skill and he wanted to see how well he had managed to perform his ;death glare' so to speak upon the woman before him. As a result, there were no follow-up attacks if 'Artemis' had indeed been intimidated but Strife's presence, his stance... his eyes.
