Right out in the open of the silent, but somewhat creepy court yard of the Beasts castle stood Squall. Today was his first time actually traveling around to new worlds. Besides him home world, Transverse town, Hollow Bastion, and the Coliseum, he has been no where else. Since the darkness had somewhat settled in Hollow Bastion, Squall took it upon himself to go searching for his loved ones. Leon knew that it might take a while, but he wasn't going to give up.
With that in mind, his gentle sky blue eyes gazed upon the courtyard in front of him. The 'Lion' noticed gargoyle statues all over the courtyard as though they waiting to strike. Why did this place give him such the creeps? "Not like it could get any worse." Leon said softly to himself. As he took a slight breath, Squall began to walk towards the two large castle doors.
Each step he made had a rather soft 'tapping' like echo. This echo was merely from the stone walk way. It was almost as though this castle was meant to frighten people out, or give a awkward feeling. Nonetheless, he made his way to the doors and placed his right hand on the right side and pushed it open. With that one simple push, the door made a loud almost moaning like sound.
Of course Leon wasn't going to run away from this. Not matter what the cost he had to find his friends, and her. So this castle was going to be a piece of cake, while he was exploring it. "Where to look first though?" He asked himself. Curiously, his eyes darted left to right and then straight ahead. Squall had noticed many doors. Especially the very large doors straight ahead.
Quickly, he began to move at a hastened pace towards the larger set of doors before him. Leon went up a small set of stairs to get to the doors. Once more, he placed his right hand on the right side and pushed it open. This time the door opened up like it weighed like a feather. "This place sure is full of surprises." He said after he noticed the well lit ball room before him.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
A cautious thief with the rambunctious nature of a moogle was not always the best combination. Sometimes he thought himself capable of a task he really was not, but his pride did not let him give up. No, he was no quitter! People would begin to doubt you if all they ever heard was that you quit. People did have a tendency to remember the bad situations as opposed to the good from what he understood. Sometimes watching a failure was far more memorable than the time you did make it across the roof finally, in one jump. This time he was probably in over his head, but he could not admit defeat.
Because the thief was overzealous at times he was left with few choices in his behavior. He had been met with the obstacle that was the door of the castle, and knowing better a criminal mastermind could not just enter the front door, thus she climbed along the edges of the castle, which was an equally terrible idea as Gargoyle Heartless fancied making a mouse out of him and chased him across the lip o the roof and inclines of the tower spires. It was not long until the thief could barely keep up. he finally fell off the roof, chased to the edge by a Gargoyle. He barely managed to grab the edge with his tail, finding himself upside down. Above him the heavy statue bounced over and raised its axe. Eye widened at the site before he released his tail and came crashing down into the balcony outside of the Ballroom.
His body hit the ground with a bounce and he ended up rolling back into the window.
Owwie.

For a short time the ball room was in complete silence. That is until a very feint sound up on the roof top could be heard. However, he believed it could have just been rats or something. Right? Leon was about to leave the ball room, until he herd a rather loud 'crash'. The sound seemed like it came from the end of the ball room.
Squall decided to give into his curiosity, and began to walk towards the back end of the ball room. The closer he got, the easier it was to notice a person on the balcony. With little urgency, he made his way over to the doorway between the ballroom and the balcony. His right hand extended out to the door handle and gently pushed it open.
With that, he carefully took a few short steps out on to the balcony and looked at the person before him. Leon was quite amused when he noticed a tail? Was this day going to get any more eventful? "Nice of you to drop in." The lion said in a almost dull manner. Leon assumed that he fell off of the roof.
Well that part was obvious anyways. However, the real question he should be asking is, why does this guy have a tail? To be honest, he really shouldn't be surprised. After all hes seen a talk duck, and a talking dog before. "Do you need some help?" Squall held out his hand to help Zidane up to his feet.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Sometimes being a hero was complicated. Or was the complication the thief felt from his decision to balance his life of crime and heroism into one neat package? Well it was even more complicated! He never really felt his life was all that full of crime. After all stealing to get a bit to eat at night was not wrong, right? Just surviving. Or teaching kids right from wrong in the lifestyles of the rich and famous was not totally unscrupulous. Maybe he never felt these act were wrong and he was far too stubborn to listen to others on the matter. It was, after all, all he knew. It was the vision of his reality and reality could not be changed. Though he only felt that before he did manage to overcome his reality. Right now he felt he was drowning in a sea of fantasy, unwilling to break away from the sparkling stars of gold and red that danced before his eyes.
Or that could have been the massive impact of the freefall he just suffered. The boy felt the 'wall' behind him collapse, but it was just the door onto the balcony opening.
"Whoa!" He shouted in surprise.
Heh ad rolled back and thunked his head on the floor, making good and sure that welt stayed. He groaned and moved his hands to cradle his abused head. Glancing up he spied a hand reaching out to him, his crystal blue orbs examined the gloved hand a moment before he reached out his own to be helped up. He all but bounced to his feet. Really one to not let a little accident keep him down. HA! That was a funny one! Zidane laughed out and patted the guy's hand as he shook it. A goofy grin pulled itself across his features.
"Aww man yer a pal, thanks for the lift! I guess what they say about seeing others their next fall." A pun for a pun.
The boy's tail lashed about as he hurried inside, rubbing his bare arms to try and get some heat from the friction of his gloves. He made a loud shiver and trotted back. It was best to play of not only the totally embarrassing fall, but the fact that he was creeping around where he should not. He normally had his cloak for good measure against the weather, but that was not a choice right now.
"Man, you think you can tell me where I am? I think that last fall really knocked more than the wind outta me." He felt as if he has been here before, but it was hard guessing from a roof.
He looked around the expansive room. he was pretty impressed. This place must have a good deal of swag to get his hands on. He rubbed his hands together rapidly, as if trying to warm them, but he was a bit treasure hungry today. After all he had to find the perfect gift, or lift the perfect gift!

Squall just stood their in silence and sneered at his new 'companions' remark. Well he did deserve it after his own little joke. The Lion had a strange feeling about this little monkey boy. It was as though he had a hunch something interesting was going to happen. In matter of fact, that is what Squall wants.
However, the only reason he is going to stick around with the monkey boy is to make his search faster. He must find Rinoa, and the others at all cost. Leon was about to ask a question, before Zidane beat him to it. "If memory due serves me right. I believe this place is known as the Beasts Castle."
It was a little foggy to Squall, but he remembers Sora mention something about a castle very similar to this. "Tell me, why did you get on the roof in the first place?" Leon said questioningly. For some strange reason, he had this feeling, he could trust the monkey boy for now. "By the way names Squall."
As he watched the boy for a short while, he noticed him oddly rubbing his hands together. Was he just cold, or is it that he is some type of thief? Well of course it was just a thought. Leon wasn't the type of guy to pass a quick judgement. "I can tell that your anxious to explore this castle"
Squall Paused for several moments.
"How about we explore this castle together?"

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Zidane looked around as he took a few steps forward. His boots certainly caused a racket in the open area. Behind him his tail would sway side to side causing a sweeping motion that easily reflected off the mirror-like floor below. It was really shiny, but at the same time it was rather dark. It was as if someone turned off the lights and invited the cold winter airs into the castle. Was it inhabited? Normally when Gargoyles took over old buildings it was due to lack of habitation and an increase in territorial behavior. he really hoped that was simply the case outside. He found those stone monsters really creepy, having little to no inclination to what they actually were. Heartless was still a foreign idea for him at this time. Hearing the male speak up the thief looked back over his shoulder to the tall fellow.
"Beast's Castle? Such a creepy name...." He shivered.
So did that mean a monster lived here? Maybe it was controlling all those other little monsters? To think. Maybe this was a bad idea to begin with? Maybe, but he was too far in to quit now. He was not some coward! At the question of his location, the Thief had a funny story about that... it was not a pleasant story, but it was one. Maybe if he fudged his tale a bit it would be a bit less questionable. He whorled around on his heel to face the man and gave a bit of a smirk as he moved his gloved hand the scratch at his cheek.
"Well it's freezing outside and that door was way too big for me so I figured there had ta be a window open. Place looks abandoned." Though it did look to be the case at first glance.
Squall's offer of name and chance to explore was quite helpful. His daggers never were any good against stone creatures and having another hand would be helpful.
"Name's Zidane!" He offered jovially. "After that fall...I think that will be a great idea ta go i na team!" He said, rubbing his head.

"I suppose it is a creepy name for a castle." Squall paused trying to remember what other things Sora told him about this place. Of course Leon didn't pay attention much. After all he was the leader of the Restoration Committee. So half of the time he was busy doing training, and creating plans.
"A guy named the Beast lives here. From what I was told hes nice, but aggressive." Leon could really care less if the Beast was around here or not. Nothing was going to stop him from accomplishing his goals. Before saying anything else, Squall listened to the rest of what the monkey boy had to say about being here.
However, that little story about being on the roof wasn't exactly the answer he was looking for. Though, the Lion isn't a cop so it really didn't matter. Squall gave a simple nod when Zidane said his name and agreed to team up with him. "Alright then lets go." The Lion said with a rather dull tone.
With that Squall made his way back over to the entrance of the ball room. "If we head out this way there is two other paths." He said loud enough for Zidane to hear him, but not loud enough to make an echo in the room. So far everything was going good for Leon. There was no Heartless or Nobodies. Now if he could only get lucky.

Squall's words were not at all comforting. The castle was owned? That was a downer, but what was most unsettling was the fact that the castle's owner was named Beast. As if that did not imply anything. Names had their own meaning, even if you were born with them. It was pretty defining having a name, but he could not be that bad right? People knew his name so no one has died out here... right? Ugh, it just made him uneasy. Way to pick a heist. Though in truth he did not exactly pick this place out of any sort of well thought out plan. He had gotten lost in the woods, having lost the main path that led from the town. He had only gone out for a look see and next thing he knew, he was lost! Though it really seemed like a bad idea, he decided it was probably best to go forward.
"No one ever learned anything hanging back and watching!" He assured Squall, letting him know he would follow.
This place was huge. Who knew what sorts of treasures it hid, or dangers. He was not one to baulk at the chance to explore though. With a partner at arm's length perhaps it would not be as deadly as he previously assumed. There was no I in team, but there were plenty of I's in horrified. That was the feeling he got when he entered the main hall. It was horrifying. It reminded him of the Evil Forest, which was oh-so-aptly named.
"You seem to know a bit about this place. Did ya come by knowing what was in store for ya?" Did he happen upon it to and know rumors about it, or was he here with a focused purpose beyond the reckless endangerment of the self?

Leon had the feeling that Zidane was going to be one of those super upbeat outgoing types. Not only was that slightly irritating, but it did remind him of Yuffie. Nonetheless, he was just glad he had some help exploring this castle. After all this was his first time here, so he had no idea what could happen.
Squall was about to start his answer with Keyblade Master. However, he was entirely sure if Zidane knew what that was. So perhaps it was best to go a different route. "A friend explained bits and pieces about certain worlds." Squall decided to simply leave it at that. Leon didn't know exactly were to go, but he had a basic understanding of the castle thanks to Sora.
Just now thinking about Sora, he wondered were that kid was. With the entrance door still being open, Squall walked right on out, and made a sharp right turn. The 'Lone Wolf' decided to try and find the Beasts room first if possible. So he had a very good chance of getting lost in this rather large castle.
Steadily, he walked up each step towards the opening. He could only wonder where such a lavish stair case would lead him. As it turns out the staircase was very long and twisted in a spiral shape. Only the darkness resided, with a very little amount of dim lighting. Eventually, Squall made it to the very top only two find himself in a brightly lite golden hall way.
"Are you seeing this?" Leon said in slight amazement.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Despite hardships Zidane always found a way to keep himself cheerful. SOme would say that he was just distracting himself from the truth, lying to himself, but if one stayed stuck in the moment of their failures, would that not just invite more in the future? The energy the boy had was often down right exhausting. It was a wonder he could even get dressed in the morning without forgetting to put on his shoes or underwear! The young man sure did have a loud mouth to boot. If he were a mage it was assured that he would have no trouble from getting silenced, but had had absolutely zero skill in magic. You have to keep up that energy or else all the bad things would come back to bite you in the tail!
Zidane had gotten distracted puffing his chest. Looking around it seemed Squall had already taken off toward the door. The thief turned on his heel, nearly sliding on the slick dancing floor, and took off after the young man. He laughed out, amused at the thought of nobles actually dancing on a floor like this. It was a bit outrageous considering the things they wore on their feet! Maybe he could make use of this later if he ever found himself in a jam. When Squall pushed open the door, the thief was close behind.
Now into the main stairwell Zidane's jaw dropped in awe. This was pretty impressive. He has not been in many castles, and this place did not shake a stick to the Lindblum Grand Castle, but the tall walls were sheer and did not provide any space to climb. That would leave the agile thief in a predicament were he caught off in a corner. Maybe it was purposely designed that way? His boots tapped against the marble ground, causing it to click. The sound carried through the halls and caused the reverberating echoes to twist in his stomach. It was that feeling of being small in such a big place. It impressed him, but also made everything stand out. It was why he preferred the crowded streets of Lindblum or of the hideout.
As Squall made his way up the steps in a calm, measured manner Zidane could not help but feel fidgety. He was excited! Being able to explore a new place without the worry of his friends being in trouble, or having to work! It was just play! The high-energy thief rushed after the Committee Member. With little room to bowl passed him on the steps he would kick up and drop onto the banister. Walking with ease along the narrow surface he looked down. This place was really quite impressive, but how could someone live here? It was so cold, empty and felt utterly abandoned. It was almost lifeless, but he felt the eyes of ghosts watching him. Like Ipsen's Castle.
"Wait up!" When Zidane hopped off the banister and moved into the new floor he had to brace himself from the sudden flooding of light.
After blinking his eyes clear he focused his vision. Whoa! That was a huge change. It went from dark and dim to bright and unbearable. Did someone just live upstairs then? It seemed weird. This place seemed a lot cleaner. Suits of armor stood along the wall at full attention and the bright lights almost burned in comparison to the darkness.
"Wow!" He could not help but imagine the treasure, but the other problem made itself present in his chest. "Does this mean whoever is supposed to be home...is?" That was what worried him most. With a name like Beast one was sure to watch his step.

When Leon herd Zidane ask him to wait up, he simply stopped at the golden hall way. It didn't take long before Zidane arrived. Though Squall could tell the monkey was rather surprised by this rather lavish hall way. Knight Guards were all along both sides. However, the monkeys question was very valid.
Could there be a possibility that Beast was here? Or could it be the heartless and nobodies roamed this area? Well anything was possible. "Well there's no use in just standing here in awe. Lets get going."Squall stated with a rather disappointing tone. With each step Leon carefully examined the floor and the armored knights on each side of him.
You could say that the Lion was a little cautious. He didn't want none of these things attacking him. After all, he only knows so much about this world. About a minute later he made it to the end of the hallway and made a right and completely stopped. Down this path way he noticed a set of brilliant marble stair case, and possibly another door passed the stair case.
It was only in due time that the heartless would show up. Where ever the light is, the darkness is sure to follow. Once more he began to walk, but over towards the marble stair case. "So whats with the tail?" Leon asked rather blunt. Whether it was real or fake, Squall just felt like making a conversation.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
Looking around Zidane was pretty impressed the castle was even inhabited. He had arrived to a dead, dank ghost castle. With Gargoyles around he was sure it was abandoned and left for dead. It was hardly the case to see Gargoyles in any inhabited castle. The creatures were fiends born of stones filled with a great magic, or recluse wizards bringing to life the tone golems as their minions. Maybe the master of the castle was controlling the Gargoyles or some evil force, but that was not something he preferred to think about. What if the castle was cursed and he would end up some monster or under the unwitting claws of a giant shrimp? Pushing those thoughts aside the thief would consider the more immediate problem at hand. If it was occupied, would that make treasures less appealing? Well not for him. But Squall seemed like an upstanding fellow and that was no good when it came to stealing things that were not yours. He was pretty sure Squall would try to stop him, but that was not enough to distract him. A bit of exploring and maybe they would come across something unique?
A bit less put off by the armors the thief rushed ahead. His steps clicked with muffled beats as he jogged across the red carpet. He slid to a stop in front of one of the suits of armor. He was a very animated individual, hardly one to hide his heart or intentions, so as he inspected the armor his eyes seemed to glitter and his tail curled up in excitement. He was quite curious about this place and the treasures such an old looking castle held. It was strange to see such familiar sights in a new world. A castle, suits of armor. Nothing like seeing strange alien tech! The thief's gloved hand would reach out and tap on the shining metal suits. Well they did not seem to be coming alive, but that was not what he was looking for. He simply could not keep his hands to himself.
He put his hands on his hips and sighed. A lot of dust and age, but it looked not so bad for the wear. He blinked when Leon walked ahead, but would not fall behind so hurried to catch up. This place was really twisted. Darkness and Light seemed to mingle and intertwine. At Squall's question the thief's tail bristled a bit as it stood up. Oh, that was right. He was far from home. He supposed it was not normal here? Wherever here seemed to be. The rogue moved his hand to brush the side of his head as he laughed out.
"What, don't any of yer friends have a tail?" His question came with a cheerful tease as he hopped up the steps to get ahead of Squall, lashing his tail by as if to make a point.
Getting to the top of the steps he twirled around, the fifth limb standing proudly behind him as he stood with his chest puffed and his fists on his hips. The cheeky bandit gave a wide grin and pinched up his crystal colored eyes. Even his pupils ha an odd thinness to them that seemed unnatural, almost cat-like, but it was too insignificant to really take great note of, considering the extra limb hanging about.
"Gotta say not sure, I was born with it, so I have to say I'm kinda attached to it." He said jokingly. He took a moment to look between the spot he stood. There were two different paths, both appearing to be guarded by the suits of armor.
He got a creepy feeling, the kind that made your stomach flip!

So his question was answered with another question? "Two." Leon said in a rather blunt tone. "But one is a dog and the other a duck." A few moments after he said that, Squall noticed what he said would bring up some questions. To be specific the duck. Of course when the Lion mentioned the dog and the duck, he was talking about Donald and Goofy.
Those two were always by Sora's side. Since day one Leon had been helping the trio out. Leon was somewhat curious two why he was born with that tail. However, he is not one to judge. His eyes peered over to the large suits of armor blocking both paths. This was going to be slightly problematic for Leon. "Lets go this way." Leon said while turning around and heading towards the door near the end of the hallway.
Squall knew that those suits of armor were not going to simply let them through. So the duo might as well just go check out the unguarded door slightly down the hall way. As he reached the door, he grasped the handle with his right hand and gently pushed it open. The room seemed all dark and mysterious.
Right before him was now another set of stone doors. Leon also noticed up above seemed to be a hidden passage way. Before anything he wanted to check out those stone doors. Carefully, he approached the doors. Something ominous began to happen. Darkness began to steadily flow all over the room.
Until multiple Unversed had formed themselves in the room. "Heartless? No. What are these creatures?" Leon said in a confused tone. With no hesitation he flashed in his Lion Heart Gunblade, and got in his battle position.

Jovial Prince of Thieves
At Leon's words the thief moved to settle is left elbow into his right palm and move his fingers to his chin in an inquisitive and thoughtful manner. Dog and duck? Well there were dog folk back home, though they had more of a presence in Alexandria or the Industrial District of Lindblim. They were diligent and hard workers. The Bulls mostly did the heavy lifting and worked hour on end without exhausting themselves much. Ducks were often noble folk, he really lacked good opinion toward them as they often had loud, demanding attitudes that were pretty abrasive. He fancied himself the sort to get along with everyone, but when it came to the Ducks, well not as much effort went into that. Well he did not want to be the demeaning sort.
Zidane looked up to one of the paths. There seemed to be a bunch of these heavier looking suits of armor standing guard at a particular entryway. These suits of armor were placed oddly. Like they were trying to block their path. It made him curious. Stepping up to them he moved his hand to lean on them. Was he going do it? Of course he was! There was none other so reckless and so ignorant of traps than this rogue. He pushed the statues a few times, but to no avail. What were they, weighed down with stones. Zidane sauntered back so he could get a good running start at them, but he heard Squall's voice call out to him. The thief to whorl around comically, that tail lashing about in tandem to every motion. It was as if his tail kept him perfectly balanced among his acrobatic and animated movements, but it did not seem to do him well earlier when he fell off the roof. So maybe not.
Ah well. It probably would have alerted someone if he suddenly dropkicked a bunch of suits of armor. He turned to follow the young man, his arms falling to his sides as he walked wit almost bouncing strides. When they entered the strange, underground passage, Zidane was clearly excited. Now this was something more familiar. Clearly it was heading beneath the castle's normal access level, but why was this spot easier to access. Either they were crawling their way into the pens or the vault. So why were the suits of armor guarding the stairs leading up? Zidane looked around, a bad feeling crawling down the length of his tail. As Squall marched forward: the young rogue turned so his back was to Squall and he face the stairs.
Squall would suddenly exclaim. Zidane grinned and looked back over his shoulder. "Aww man, I guess that's one way to corner a rat, huh?" That was certainly sneaky and smelled of trap.
Zidane settled his hand over the sheath of his blades and rolled his shoulders, limbering up. Squall did not seem too sure on what their opponents were, but it was pretty obvious they were monsters as the scarred male seemed to be arming himself. Zidane laughed out and grabbed his blades from his sheath with his left hand. His right hand crossed over to snatch the second blade mid-air. With a Mage Masher in each hand the thief stood with his back to Squall, weapons crossed.
"Whatever they are, it's pretty obvious they aren't gunna just let us continue on!" It seemed Zidane was ready to take them, was Squall?

Right from the moment the Unversed had appeared, Zidane went back to back with the Lion. Who would have guessed a Lion is back to back with a Monkey. "No choice then." Leon said softly with his Gunblade pointed forward. "We just have to take them all down." Squall said while quickly counting them.
From what he noticed there is exactly, ten of these creatures here. They all seemed similar to the Shadow Heartless. Those bug eyed Heartless sometimes gave him the creeps. Quickly, he charged towards the closest Unversed by him. So the one directly in front of him by the stone doors.
The Lion made a swift horizontal slash, cutting the dark blue creature in half. Leon noticed that these creatures even died the same way as Heartless, in a cloud or mist of smoke. So who or what could be creating this new type of monsters? This time Squall dashed to his right and made a spinning slash towards another, cutting it right in half.
These things were easy enough, he thought to himself. However, he wasn't paying attention and one of the little blue Unversed suck up behind him. A second later, Leon cringed in pain as the Unversed made a swipe at his calf. Now ignoring the pain, he swirled around and thrust-ed his Gunblade downwards, cutting it right down the middle.
While he had the chance, Leon looked behind himself. There was no real wound, but his pants had three slash marks on them. Boy that sure was embarrassing. Sure he had taken some hits before. However, this had to be the first time he got hit from not paying attention. Whatever the case, they needed to finish these things off. Squall had killed three. Seven remained.
