Hades had been on his throne, plotting and brooding. His previous plans to kill Jerkules had been for naught and despite being a god, he was slowly running out of ideas. Actually, it was more like he was running out of resources. Most of the monsters he had gotten from this world had been defeated by Junkules. The Hydra. The Medusa. Even that Nemean Lion guy. All beaten to a pulp. Warriors from the River Styx were either equally incapable or simply unwilling. So, to mitigate this, he commanded the Fates to find something off-world. At first, they refused, but Hades coerced them by stealing their one eye for a week. It had been months after that, but then, Pain and Panic, his two loyal and rather cowardly minions, scampered in to tell him they found something.
Hades spoke to the Fates, who informed him of a machine in the world of Halloween Town that was intended to make things scarier. Unfortunately, it had malfunctioned and caused a variety of things in other worlds to become a bit too scary and a bit too murderous. Hades didn't even have to hear another world before teleporting to Jack Skellington's domain. And here he was, a not-entirely-out-of-place God of the Dead standing next to the machine. He smirked as he inspected it. "So, this scrap heap's the big ticket item I need to beat Wimpules, eh? Doesn't look like it'd be able make dinner. Ah well, you know what they say. To kill a demigod, you gotta break a few machines of mass corruption. Am I right, of course I am. Let's boost this sucker and get things rolling!" Hades then pointed at the machine and shot a few flames of his godly power into it.
At first, it didn't seem to do much of anything. But then, the machine creaked and groaned. The sound then escalated into a roar as the machine seemed to be about to explode. As Hades looked on, stepping back to inspect his work, the machine unleashed a huge torrent of the corruption it released earlier. This time, however, it managed to completely destroy the roof of Dr. Finkelstein's lab as the towering cyclone of corruption snaked its way out of Halloween Town and towards an unknown world. After it fully escaped, the machine crumbled into a pile of useless scrap at Hades's feet, just in time for Dr. Finkelstein to arrive. Hades turned and mused about what to say.
"Uhh..." he said. He kept thinking, then merely gave up, shrugged and said, "You did it.", before teleporting away to admire his handiwork from afar.

"And THAT'S why we need to find out where that corruption went and destroy whatever it infected."
"... Why am I here again?"
Azalea had found Mordred in Traverse Town and shook out of his brooding (quite literally) and told him what happened to Dr. Finkelstein's machine. Mordred, naturally, was completely disinterested as to what had occurred. Azalea, meanwhile, pouted at Mordred.
"YOU are going to help me find others to track down whatever this thing infected and beat it up! It passed through this world last so it's gotta have left some sort of clue here!"
"No."
"YES! I have this sign-up sheet on this clipboard right here. I got copies for each of us and YOU ARE GOING TO DO THIS, I SWEAR TO KINGDOM HEARTS!"
Mordred sighed and shrugged. "This is pointless and I'm not getting strung into a series of games and having to suffer from a rushed and ultimately unfulfilling ending that only an idiot could write."
"You're a Nobody. Technically, you don't suffer at all."
"Shut up." Mordred retorted. "The point is, I'm going to find where this corruption ended up and destroy it myself. To prove we don't need this tiresome rigamarole."
"I BET YOU 1000 MUNNY I'LL FIND IT FIRST!" Azalea shouted excitedly. Mordred just stared at her for a few seconds.
"Fine, whatever, I'm out of here." And with that, Mordred corridored out.

... ok, not yet. BUT IT WILL BE! And that means shenanigans have ensued in the CM world! While my buddy Mordred stalks off to do... whatever he does, Azalea needs YOUR help! To sign-up, just post in this thread to say that you wish to participate and unless I've passed out from too much Assassin's Creed, I'll write your name down. The deadline for signups will be the 15th of October and we are currently only leaving six slots open. (Staff, of course, reserves the right to change either the deadline or the amount slots open, blahblahblahblah that sort of thing.) The point is, sign up now!
And remember, only one character per person for the plot thread. No cheating!
