The end of the world has successfully been postponed due to the outstanding first round battles. In the second round a few things are changing. First, the time limit for bouts is no longer one full month. Two weeks will be the alotted time for our combatants to wage war against one another. Secondly, teams will now only have 72 hours (3 days) to make posts. That's right we're going head on in a fast series of beat-downs to decide who our championship contenders are! This match is between the Mercs with Perks and Team Midnight Shade. The match ends on January 22nd at 11PM EST. Posting Order: Felix, Miumi BEGIN!

With the first set of matches out of the way, the red-headed freelancer known as #1 in Radiant Gardens was in a rather good mood. His teammates had taken care of their matches, Emblem’s opponent not having shown up and Claire having fought an incredibly intense match from what he heard. Indeed, it was a buzz throughout the entire coliseum the crazy match she had fought against a certain winged keybearer, neither pulling any stops. The more he heard about it though the more he began to worry, wondering if Claire was alright and if she had sustained any serious injuries. He knew that participants in the tournament were offered medical attention after their matches but it was only a while back that she had a giant hole in her leg. She had seemed to make a full recovery since but having been in this freelancer gig for a couple years now he knew to treat injuries rather seriously. If one continued to fight on bad injuries, even ones that had healed, they could endanger themselves or others that relied on them. And more so than anyone, he didn’t wish to see Claire get an injury from fighting in a tournament and pushing herself too hard to the brink of exhaustion. Gah stop it Felix, he scolded himself mentally, shaking his head, It was her choice to participate in these fights and I got my own fights to worry about, not going to slack off and leave it to those two, he added, a small smirk curving against his lips as he pondered what “those two” might think of him being a worrywart like this. If he had to make a guess, Emblem would probably tell him to shut up and man up… or something along those lines he imagined. After all, what Emblem’s response was would vary depending on whatever form she was currently in, the female Sweeper a bit of a shape-shifter one might say. As for Claire, he imagined a more violent response, probably along the lines of a death threat as that was usually the case with her. Not that he minded though, he found it funny how easy she was to rile up sometimes if you showed some weakness or hesitation. It was rather amusing to since he knew that there was something beneath that rough exterior of hers, something a lot of people never saw. Most people don’t like to try looking past the surface though so it is what it is… although to be fair perhaps the death threats are a little frightening to normal people hehe, he mused as he slipped on the forearm guards and the shin guards he had brought. Shifting his forearm a bit, he was pleased with how the equipment fitted, likewise with his shin guards as he did a little shadow boxing. He had to get ready for the next match after all and any martial artist knew full well that one should never stop practicing their technique. No was a real master at any art, one could always improve, one could always hit much faster, much harder, and much more accurately. While he had no idea who his opponent was, just running through basic combos put his mind at ease and made him feel more confident. His body was the one thing that would never leave him after all; so long as he continued training it surely it would never let him down. The same could be said about that mind of his with its tendency to think of brilliant strategies during the heat of battle a- ”You’re up to bat again,” a voice would say, Felix having been a second too late to catch who had given him the news. It was no matter; he could get entranced in shadow boxing and what have you some other time, right now he needed to smash his opponent. Yes, like always the red-head would not be pulling any stops for his opponent and would make sure to come at him or her with everything he had. With that in mind, he would then proceed into the arena, shirtless as usual and getting the roar of the crowd in response, mostly the females. This elicited a wide grin in response as he stepped into the arena, performing a stretch or two as he looked over to his opponent. When his eyes fell upon his opponent he couldn’t help but be a little confused, his right eyebrow arching as he pondered what was happening. Did they really set him up with this little tyke? Not only was the opposition rather diminutive in height but he looked like a stick more so than a decent match. Ceasing his stretching, the freelancer flashed a cocky grin as his eyes narrowed at his opponent and he slipped his hands into his pockets. ”So you’re my opponent eh?” he started, his tone snarky to say the least, ”Jeez they must be really hurting for participants this year if this is the best they can come up with, a diminutive brat without a clue,” he added, attempting to taunt his opponent prior to the start of the match. He wasn’t sure it would work but it was always worth a try to rile up an opponent but whatever the case the second the fighters were allowed to move the freelancer took off toward Miumi. He would sprint toward his opposition at normal speed for a moment but as the distance closed would suddenly jump in the air for a flying knee strike. The odd thing about this maneuver though was that there was simply no way the red-head was going to reach his target… without a little assistance anyway. Indeed, it was an opening move of his that he used against first time opponents a lot to attempt to fake them out as two gusts of wind would suddenly be released from his palms. Having positioned them behind him, the gusts of wind would propel him toward his opponent at an incredible speed. The technique he was using to pull this off was Wind Manipulator, an ability of his that made an armor of wind surround his body. Said armor was invisible to the naked eye and would certainly become a troublesome thing for his opponent to deal with. For whether the knee strike aimed to the face landed or not, the red-head wouldn’t end his assault with just that simple attack, no way. He had an audience to entertain and this match to win so ending his offense there would be the epitome of foolishness, he had to strike whilst the iron was hot. Thus the second part of this opener was used, the freelancer using another couple well placed gusts of wind to maneuver himself in the air. He would soar right past his opponent’s head and land a few feet behind him, and the second his feet touched the ground transition into a rear-leg side kick. The kick would be aimed at his opponent’s lower back, hoping to inflict some damage there and presumably restrict the opponent’s movement even more so. Indeed, for if either of his attacks had landed as hoped, his opponent would suddenly find his movement incredibly restricted. A vacuum of wind would be left behind in the wake of Felix’s attacks, the suction of which was incredible and typically kept his opponents unable to move for a short time (Immobilize). - By using the same principle behind Mass Manipulator, Felix can manipulate the element of wind to his will. When activated, his body will be covered in an armor of wind, causing physical attacks to be redirected, making them glance or miss completely. This wind armor will not provide any innate resistance to Wind Elemental attacks. As for his attacks, they will all be given Wind elemental damage on top of the physical damage Felix deals normally. If attacked directly, an air vacuum will be created afterwards that sucks them in, immobilizing the opponent for one turn (Immoblize). The status effect will not be applied if the opponent is attacked with his katana. This ability has a two post duration, a three post cool down, and CAN NOT be used for one turn after a previous elemental manipulator (this applies to all elemental manipulators). (Added as Unity reward, 8th of August 2011.) Through rigorous training to gain a better control over the elements, Felix has managed to master the element of Wind. Due to his greater mastery over it, he is now able to also use gusts of wind to give him a degree of aerial movement when airborne. Furthermore, using this ability no longer causes him to be effected by Elemental Exhaustion nor take as long to use it once again. The time it takes to reactivate this ability is now two minutes (2 posts) as opposed to the previous three minutes (3 posts). [Ability Upgraded - October 8th, 2012] Action #1 – Activated Wind Manipulator and made use of it to close the distance and perform a flying knee strike on the opponent. Action #2 – Used Wind Manipulator’s gusts of wind to perform a flip over the opponent’s head and attempted a rear leg side kick aimed for the opponent’s lower back.
