[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] And I've come back unshaken Let down, I've lived and let go
What was giving one's all? Was it escalating to full power, full potential and full skill in all they hade experienced in training and battle thus far? Or was it showing one's effort by throwing it all in, to kneed the sweat off one's back and one's brow, even by broken bone and flesh to be self-sacrificing in their cause? Those were how one could give their all, but was one giving their all? In other words, why did one give their all, for what reasons?
Home, friends, love was the reason most fought for. Power, greed, chaos were fought for the few. These were known to all, simple cause and effect. They were individual desires that clashed, but with every individual that fell another rose with the same ideal. The individual would be written into history with their battles, but their ongoing struggle would always seem to remain, so why even bother? Patience, discipline, formality, none of these were exercised by the two individuals representing extreme sides to their coin in this battle today.
Sora glanced around him quickly, and bewilderingly as the crowd cheered at the display of flames that had almost singed him to a crisp. There were women grasping at their chests at the sight, but there were also young women shouting and screaming bloody murder at the people they were rooting for as much as the men, perhaps heroines that would shine into battle one day inspired by their own gods or even these two warriors before them today. There were also men that grew faint at the sight, or withdrew from the stands in disgust, or just simply watched the light show as the most interesting scene on the planet. All minds were diverse and individual, none thinking alike and with opinions and beliefs that would always come into conflict, but all perhaps rising in the single cause to cheer for who they believed in. All united in a common rally, so even if today's battle would not go down in history and was just another coliseum battle, perhaps what they could take from it was inspiration and memories for the rest of their lives.
He was indeed holding back, and Sora couldn't have guess that it was possible Kadaj had figured out his tactic against him. He could have gone all-out against him like he did at Disney Castle, but analysis of his new powers meant if he did, Kadaj would make him pay dearly for it and overwhelm him with collective power. Sora wasn't the brightest bulb and was slow to catch on sometimes, but not a complete idiot, wise in his own way. As he heard Kadaj's comeback against him, he just smiled. "Nope, not quite, see I figured out your little trick. So while I decide you should cool off for a while, figured I might as well keep my health up. You can't say that and honestly expect me to believe you don't have a curative spell of your own in there, do you?"
Sora was still running, looking for the next instantaneous attack from his target. Or was Kadaj going to goad him into slowly stalking him, prompting him to attack his powerful aura again? His answer soon came in the form of a lightning bolt, Kadaj learning, trying to attack Sora where he was going to go instead of where he currently was to match his speed and trajectory. This time he would hit Sora, but not quite in the way he would think. Sora would slide to a stop as he held out the length of his Kingdom Key, the flat of the keyblade facing inwards towards Kadaj and the lightning bolt, stopping it in his tracks. This was his Link Block, and while he did not have any allies in battle to block an attack from, he did not teleport anywhere either to negate the damage of the attack to himself. While the lightning crackled against his keyblade, much like Xemnas's first attack ever against him in the depths of Hollow Bastion, Sora pushed with all his strength against it before flinging his keyblade out to the side and throwing the gathered and evaporated lightning to the side. Except this time there was a gathering crowd around to watch it, which made a mighty roar at the spectacle, applauding and cheering loudly at such a feat.
As Kadak discarded this attack, however, Sora would not be so lucky with the next. The new attack wasn't one Sora had experienced before of his kind, so the learning curve would not be so kind to him as compared to a Thundaga attack. As he lowered his keyblade from the enhanced guard of Link Block, the new attack was shot in, exploding in a wide radius and hitting Sora. He got knocked back and rolled over, tumbling through the dirt violently, battle-damaged again with the direct hit. Perhaps now Sora would attack with his full might now pushed to this new limit, but the question was, would he?
This long-awaited question was quickly answered when Sora also bounded towards Kadaj at the same time, not intending to escape his melee-range, but instead quickly facing him head-on. The swinging of his keyblade came down upon the Remnant leader, creating a ring of powerful holy orbs around the tip of the key, which upon contact with the young man clad in black would release a powerful Explosion. Sora had found an opportunity to quickly attack the silver-head while at the end of performing his ranged attack, struggling even through his worse-for-wear state. Keyblade and Souba would clash and the audience would cheer again at the display, but this was yet to be seen in the upcoming strokes if the Souba-wielder would commit to staying in close-range blade duel to the finish.
So what was giving one's all, what did it mean? To truly mean to giving one's self completely, for what reason, why? People would have many reasons, be it fame, money or power, dreams, even self-realization. But it all stemmed from one aspect, no matter how one could look at it. A belief, the belief that there was hope, to push against overwhelming odds in adversity and challenge to bring one's self to the top of their game, to the end of their run, to the draw of their breath. Without that hope, there was no motivation; there was nothing.
Sora believed he could win, to persevere, to keep going and love the scars he earned in each battle. If only it meant it would bring him closer to his goal, to proudly bear those wounds, so that others would not have to. Maybe no-one would remember this battle, the sounds and movement fading into memory, if not immortalized into stone and legend of two great powers colliding. Perhaps not even of the two warriors, who with time would be replaced by a new generation of fighters squabbling for ultimate supremacy. But it mattered, all in the end, very much in reality to those two individuals that through all the blood spilled by blades and the skin ravaged by magic that what they sought in these worlds had a single spark of hope within.
---
First action: Used Link Block alone to dispel Thundaga, like he had once before done with his Keyblade to block a lightning-like attack from Xemnas, but without an ally present to block the attack for any but himself he could not teleport anywhere.
Link Block: Sora can now block a incoming attack towards his allies, teleporting in front of them to guard against it. Duration: One post. Cooldown: One post.
Second action: Used Explosion to counter against Kadaj to move back into close range and give his all.
Explosion: Sora swings his keyblade down like a hammer in front of him, and at the point of impact in front of him creates a white ring of elemental energy linked by explosive orbs that surrounds him, to defend him or explode offensively to clear enemies around him. If the ring hits an an enemy, the resulting explosion from the orbs also does splash chain damage, linking through any enemies nearby. This attack has the element of Light and is magic-based rather than physical. Cooldown: Three posts.
On cooldown:
Reflega: Finished cooldown.

The silver-haired youth had felt his strength and stamina drain slightly from unleashing his Darkness attack upon the Keybarer. Unlike most of his spells or swordsmanship, the Kurai attack wasn't a power born of Materia or learnt from outright skill of wielding a blade. No, it was an attack born of the Darkness within the Remnant himself, born from his anger and his rage. It was a devastating attack, but one that could not be fired in too quick a succession, for it would drain all of the Remnant's power and end up leaving him vulnerable. A bead of sweat appeared upon the forehead of the leather-clad youth that slowly dripped down, following the angles of his brow and nose before it trickled off the tip of his nose, down onto the floor. The Remnant paid it no mind, for it was inevitable to end up sweating from being in such an intense match as well as wearing a full suit of leather attire and trying to move with such speed and power as Kadaj did. No, he paid it no mind at all, for Kadaj could have sworn he caught a look within the Keybarer's eye that told he was about to step it up a notch. About time too!
The crackle and pulse of the electricity born of the Thundaga spell vibrated across the arena. You could feel it tingling the hairs upon your arms as bright flashed of white and light blue lit up the entire arena in wild, fast pulses of flashing light. Sora must have had it the worst, with the magical attack being right in his face, but as witnessed from early, the young man had his own thunder-based attacks. He was bound to be used to the flashes of light and crackle of electricity. Which was absolutely fine, for this was merely the distraction for a much greater attack, one that hit it's target head on and caused the large explosion of Darkness to throw the Key to Everything to the ground. A smart move to heal only moments before, Kadaj had to admit, though granted he had not used his Kurai attack against enough people to determine it's power. You could say the that attack was still in it's 'beta' stage of development, but the Keybarer didn't need to know that.
No, he mad much more serious things to worry about in the form of the Remnant Leader charging him down only moments after releasing his blast of Darkness towards the youth. To Kadaj's surprise, as he dashed forth to meet the Keybarer head on, he was met with a Keyblade swinging down towards his head fairly quickly. Had Sora managed to roll back up onto his feet and was running on adrenaline now? Perhaps that look he caught in Sora's eye from earlier was indeed true and the brunette was getting serious now? It was hard to tell, especially with how intense things were starting to become. Planting his feet upon the arena floor firmly, the leather soles of his boots skidding as they tried to find grip and traction, the singing of sharp steel reached Kadaj's ears as the twin-bladed Souba was brought up swiftly across the front of his body. With his right hand reaching out to catch the handle as it passed by his glowing turquoise eyes, the Remnant felt the power being the attack launched from the Keybarer, but after the echoing clatter of steel upon steel echoed throughout the arena, the Remnant's right hand suddenly shot out towards Sora's face.
With fingers stretched out to form a open palm that looked as if it were about to grasp onto Sora's face, or maybe his hair, a fantastic light shone brightly from inches before the Remnant Leader, enough so that it caused him to flinch and force his right arm back away from Sora so he could shield his eyes. Feeling the pressure coming down upon his Souba from Sora's attack, Kadaj felt his knees buckle as he instantly reattached his right hand onto the handle of his Souba to try and push back and keep his balance. Everything happened far too quickly though and the resulting blast from the Keybarer's attack launched the Souba-wielder back, throwing him across the arena before crashing down onto the ground. The resulting bounce from the force of the impact threw the silver-haired youth back up into the air, though instead of crashing back onto the floor a second time, the sharp sound of steel puncturing stone resonated instead, Kadaj stabbing his Souba into the floor and using it as a pivot to rotate himself back onto his feet with a heavy thud.
Crouched down and taking a couple of deep breaths to return his sense of balance and hearing back to normal, Kadaj stood back up and winced sharply from an intense pain from his chest. His silver-lined brow tightened sharply as a leather gloved hand was brought up to his chest. Turquoise eyes glanced down next for him to observe the damage. The whole front of his leather attire had been blasted away, revealing a nasty looking burn covering his chest and stomach. That brilliant light from Sora's attack must have been in the form of a Holy spell or something equivalent... perhaps a pure Light attack, much the opposite of his Kurai. Very interesting, but not surprising seeing as it has come from Sora himself. If it was an attack as Dark as Kadaj himself was, then that would have been very surprising and unexpected. A chuckle escaped the Remnant's lips as he released his grip upon his embedded Souba before clapping his hands together to dust them off. After patting himself down, his chuckling not ceasing, he locked eyes back upon the Key to Everything and sent him a cold, deathly glare.
"Now THAT'S more like it!!" He said loudly, his voice clearly ecstatic from having been at the end of such an attack. Things were finally starting to get interesting and it only made the Remnant's hand tremble with excitement even more then usual. Holding his arms out to either side, a thick, black smoke suddenly encased itself about the Remnant's chest before it seemed to solidify itself into the leather attire that had been blown away only moments before. Patting himself down again and retrieving his Souba from the ground, Kadaj pointed the twin-bladed weapon in Sora's direction, his smirk spreading from ear to ear. "I have two healing abilities actually, but unlike you, I'm not going to need them to put you down!" Kadaj was hurt, as proved by the wounds spread across his body, but his resolve to emerge the victory from this fight was as strong as ever. Sora could bring everything he had, but so long as the silver-haired youth's body drew breath, he would stand back up time and time again. The red aura surrounding the Remnant's body flashed brightly for a second, indicating that his powers had increased from the damage received; Remnant Rage still in effect.
Deciding to make the most of his increased stats, Kadaj flexed his knees and let out a sinister 'Heh!' before he suddenly disappeared from sight, only to reappear directly in front of the Key to Everything. As he did come back into sight, his Souba was already raised up overhead, threatening to come down upon Sora's head. However, it didn't. Instead, wondering if Sora's initial reaction would be to raise his Keyblade to protect himself from the shape blades of the Remnant's weapon, Kadaj instead threw out his right leg in a fast front snap kick, aiming the sole and heel of his foot for the Keybarer's stomach. Whether his blow struck or not, before Sora could get a chance to counter, Kadaj used his speed to vanish once more, reappearing directly behind the brunette. Only, no attack came once more as he was testing to see if Sora was using his reaction speed to protect himself from attacks coming from different directions. No, Kadaj didn't attack but instead waited a second before dashing about Sora once more to appear again where he had tried to kick him, only this time, the slashing of steel cutting through the air resulted in a diagonal strike being aimed down across Sora from left to right, whether across his front or his back, was yet to be seen.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] So you can let it be known, I don't hold back, I hold my own
A single thought had been made in this battle, a designated notion, that the keybarer was not free. Bound to the key, bound to the connections of others in their heart, that they were bound to their fate and the heavy burden was theirs to bare alone. How could one be free if they were always not a wielder of the key, but in fact a tool of the keyblade itself and the constant life of turmoil and troublesome destiny it lead? Or, in one way even since the destruction of Destiny Islands first falling into darkness, could it be seen the keyblade itself unlocked a new path to ultimate freedom to Sora and his friends?
The term 'evil' was just a word used by those who were considered heroes and fought to preserve peace, on those who sought for selfish gain at the expense of the suffering and lives of those truly innocent. For these people, there was no such thing as 'evil' to them, there was only power, and those who they considered weak enough not to brutally wield it against others not deserving of it. Perhaps there were schoundrels and deviants out there, but underneath it all, they were still men and women, so was it justified in sacrificing a life of someone who would continuously seek others? Underneath it all, under the skin, evil was simply pain in the form of intent to do malicious harm and death. But it was still pain, and if considered as men and women under it all to be honored, should these villains themselves be spared of such a demise if they were themselves in pain with their own sense of hate?
Sora looked to Kadaj, content they were only sparing in a 'friendly' manner thus far that it had not come to him bringing bloodthirsty death upon him. He would glance upon the crowd in the stone bleachers of the arena's auditorium, taking in the sharp crackles of the Thundaga energy that had been shot at him, the sun shining down upon them both with rolling incoming overcast cloud. The electricity made a violent snapping noise, the small invisible hairs on Sora's arms spiking up as straight as the spikes on the boy, sparks dissipating from the keyblade from his attempt to block it and discharging safely into the surrounding air. The sight made the crowd gasp, at the beautiful shower of sparks gently floating down around the combatants, but Sora was more significantly invested as this might be the only time he would fight this clone of Sephiroth without the guy trying to kill him... unless that was the way the battle turned.
Back to that thought for later, as Sora had undergone a great deal of pain, absorbing the hit of the source of the shockwave from the dark beam. Sora was then running towards Kadaj, and the sound of steel clashing onto steel was once again heard as a momentus uproar came from the crowd. Indeed Sora had gotten back up and with some strain recovered, pushing hard with his own clownish-shoed feet to build strength and traction against his adversary. It wasn't before long Kadaj had his hand up with palm facing Sora, as if to blast some close-range spell, but perhaps only leaving one hand to push against the Souba instead of two cost him. Or the opposite, as there was a flash from the Remnant leader's hand, the dirty tactic blinding Sora as he squinted his eyes but kept remaining to push down steadily on the two-handed grip of his Kingdom Key.
As the light faded away, Sora turned his head to look back, brow furrowing slighly in determination as he felt through the keyblade Kadaj lose leverage. Finally the resulting explosion of a ring of light orbs sent Kadaj exploding backwards, losing resistance against his own blade an allowing the teenager to re-establish his trademark battle-stance. Kadaj had bounced then caught himself in the ground with his Souba, before re-establishing his stance with a flip, Sora looking upon him and noticing the damage. The smell of burnt leather reached his nose, the entire part of Kadaj's chest had been blasted away to reveal battle-damaged scars. Despite this, the silver-haireed youth threw a continous chuckle in his direction, before a direct if not short compliment. However, it wasn't long before Kadaj's clothes reformed around his bare chest... Sora's clother had a unique power, but certainly not that unique.
However, the clother didn't seem to be a healing ability, at least as far as Sora could tell from what the avatar of Sephiroth said. No time to retort to that comment, as the mako-eyed male let out a battle cry before disappearing from sight, then reappearing again... teleportation, or speed? The 'Key To Everything' kept his guard up, as Kadaj appeared before him, then swung his double-pronged katana down upon his head. Sora went to block, but of course, the Souba wielder stepped it up a notch and did a feint, stopping and then kicking Sora instead. Sora stumbled back in pain, Kadaj going missing again, the spiky-haired youth glancing around for where he'd gone next.
A figure appeared out of his peripheral vision behind him, and his first instinct was to use defensive magic to attack, now he was in close range. He swung his keyblade down earthward, a ring of orange flame burning around him in the form of Firaga, either catching Kadaj either behind him or after him in the duration he had taken to teleport back in front of him. That remained to see if it had struck him or not, and when the diagonal slash came, the brunette boy was more ready this time. He seemingly leaped backwards to dodge back, but suddenly there was a huge surge after Sora landed with feet apart one after the other and keyblade pointed forward with the handle close to his chest. He lanced forward, another brilliant flash of white light igniting around the tip of his keyblade to create the piercing Guard Break.
"Okay, don't say I didn't warn you!"
The other reason he was glad Kadaj had yet to succeed in wiping him from the face of this world, was because of the fact that Kadaj tried to defeat... no, kill him on two seperate occasions in the past before. And to preserve innocent life, it might mean he'd have to sacrifice the guilty one causing all this. A smile was still on his face though, frozen quite well due to the fact it didn't seem to effect him much, as he was having fun and amused with himself at how he was having provokative banter with the young man. No, perhaps it was not too late to see the good in this young man before him, that he was not irredeemable. Sora sacrificed, endured, and when given the change he forgave with seeing the good before the bad, and in doing so left the door open for people that needed forgiving.
Sora had to believe in himself, in his friends in White Fate and/i] those helping him look for the ones that needed him most. He knew he could do this.
---
First action: Used Firaga as a defensive ring to protect himself from Kadaj's unpredictable instantaneous close-range attacks.
Firaga: A defensive fire-elemental spell that casts fiery rings of flames around Sora, a spell he uses rarely when he is surrounded in a quick pinch. Three post cooldown.
Second action: Took the kick, but dodged the powerful slash and then counter-attacked with Guard Break.
Guard Break: Sora jumps backwards to dodge any close-range attacks, then immediately counter-attacks with a powerful white energy lance on the tip of his keyblade, resulting in a powerful piercing blow. This attack has the element of Light. Cooldown: Three posts.
